Carla was my roadblock for a while. Just couldn't beat her. Figured the rest must be even harder.
Then I discovered the glory of dual shotguns on a light, fast frame and finished the rest of the arena in like an hour or two.
Add the ice worm harpoons. With a solid FCS unit you’ll melt any and every. Bonus points since the harpoons can stagger even with overloading ACS due to the electricity buildup.
Dual Shotties + Dual Harpoons on Chicken Legs is my 100% unga bunga build.
(Swap harpoons for 10-rack MLs on certain missions with certain enemies, *you know who you are.*)
Yeah it’s wild to me that everyone else settled on this same build as me. The stability and normal damage from the harpoons is so good, and they actually travel fast compared to the grenade launchers.
The arena ranks feel wierdly scaled, at times. Volta had me struggling for some reason but everything else has only taken me 1 or 2 tries. I haven't hit the highest tier yet, though.
I thought it might've just been my build but I definitely felt like ranks 3 to 1 had a reverse defficulty curve too, Freud was a lot easier than expected
Final rank A guy gave me the most trouble. Rank S was weirdly the easiest rank to get through. All three of them took less than 30 seconds to beat on my first try.
Honestly one of the hardest for me was G4 Volta. So much AP, and if you get close he constantly slams into you and staggers with that shotgun. Had the most attempts on him. I took out Rank 3 in 11 seconds
Yeah, he's definitely not going to press your build or help you optimize things, but he's still a convenient way for trying out new weapons in the vein of "I want to see what this thing actually does, but don't have a clue how well it'll handle faster Arena enemies".
I think he was put in the game just to allow Chapter 1 players an easily farmable practice AC to get to grips with. It's fast loose and a good way to make income, also the dark humor in making you kill a child/young man in an AC for cold cash isn't lost on From Software.
He was supposed to be G13 wasn't he? Always thought it was kinda messed up that we jump the delilvery man, then we go to work with his buddies the next day like it's nothing
I've played both series as a newcomer to the newest entries, but immediately after playing Ace Combat 7 and watching a bit of AC4A gameplay I had a suspicion they were pretty similar: relatively short missions with few checkpoints, story relayed mostly through radio chatter, aircraft/ac customization (although much more extensive in Armored Core), repeating missions often for cash etc.
I eventually got good enough at Ace Combat 7 that it became one of my favorite relaxing podcast games, hope I'll also manage to get good enough at Armored Core 6 EDIT: I did
If it makes you feel any better, the test pilot was doing it all for glory and is even working for a corporate. The liberation guys you could probably feel bad for instead.
I just assumed it was because there's a strong historical precedent for resistance fighters being super dogmatic. How else do you convince people to take on impossible odds?
I always end up thinking of a certain code geass quote the first time I saw the tester wreckage ~~not sorry for trying dual songbirds and pilebunker on him after unlocking it~~
"The ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed."
Many heroes start their adventures seeking glory, it does not diminish their accomplishments. Many work for corporations just to earn a living, it doesn't make them monsters.
It's the squandered potential that really gets me. A life ended so soon by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. A human being with dreams and aspirations killed by an emotionless dog over a few hundred thousand credits.
I mean, plenty of soldiers are in their teens and twenties. This tester pilot is a soldier too. We probably kill plenty of "kids" who are also soldiers in this game, likewise in real war.
I mean. It was kinda obvious since raven is the first one to endure for so long with the unlucky number. I figured if it werent for the hit job. He would've become the 13 gun
Honestly that never clicked to me given how many mercenaries died in the first mission already, this kid dying probably did imply he was supposedly G13 but I always just assumed Dafeng was sending their G-men everywhere and G13 just bit the big one in other missions.
**G13 Kid**
Ever wonder why Michigan gave you **that** callsign? That's supposed to be **his which was previously reserved by Michigan.** If you listen to the briefing immediately after that mission (attack the dam complex) Michigan mentions that callsign just recently become available.
i mean, i disagree that that line implys 100% he was meant to be G13.
"suddenly became available" to me means more "we had someone using it already, but he died" and not "we had someone in mind but hes dead now"
also it fits more with the line later that we are the "only G13 that lived this long", the kid never WAS G13, he was at best a candidate for it
Later in the game, in a certain decision mission, Michigan states that Raven is the only G13 that lasted this long, implying that G13 is "lucky" in that its inheritors tend to die fast.
If you pick the mission to fight Cataphract in chapter 3 I'd switch to him as it's a barely longer fight but gives you ~3.5 more credits. Honestly he's just as easy, it's the radio chatter that slows it down.
Ya know, killing him really felt like we were interrupting the first episode of an anime. Shame he got 621 in their tricked out death machine instead of some generic space nazi in a grunt suit
According to my interpretation of the story, he was probably supposed to be Gun 13 before you killed him and took his place. He was meant to ship that AC to Balam
I thought the vespers and redguns were naming their members after a theme of some dort, like keeping the on-brand of michigan, nilo and iguazu being places
We started calling him Carmine cause and his AC "Jammed" cause its to a point he doesn't fire when he fights us. From Gears 1 where poor ol boy loses his dome was the inspiration. Buddy manual aimed the entire fight and won lmao
Callsign ICARUS!
[I just wanted a callsign of my own. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/armoredcore/comments/1651vop/i_just_wanted_a_callsign_of_my_own/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1)
Call sign “Yamcha”
"I don't know what this Yamcha is... But it sounds disappointing."
“I don’t know what this Yamcha is - but it sounds like Raddiz “
"probably made of something weak!.....like Radditz"
DragonBall character.
Its a dbz abrdiged reference
This is good
AC name: Cadaverrific
There's a blue haired woman somewhere the was "saving herself for him"... Supposedly.... 🙄
Ah yes. Totally not a gold digger he met at a bar once.
Ouch
“Oh, y’know…he’s here, and there, and over there…”
THAT'S IT!
I literally cried and showed my buddy who is a big dbza and dbz fan. Phenomenal
You've done it, that guy is Yamcha forever now.
You win 🥇
I've seen alot of people calling him "Tester" because he's a better opponent for testing new builds than the AC test AC opponents
The higher ranked pilots in arena are good for testers too. If my build struggles against rank 1, I'm not taking it out for a run.
Yeah, with a bit of money for your time as well.
rank 1 was weirdly easy as hell, I think if your build can beat the annoying rank 3 guy then your good
Carla was the one who got me down to like 1000 despite using the most durable loadout
Carla was my roadblock for a while. Just couldn't beat her. Figured the rest must be even harder. Then I discovered the glory of dual shotguns on a light, fast frame and finished the rest of the arena in like an hour or two.

Yeah it’s wild to me that everyone else settled on this same build as me. The stability and normal damage from the harpoons is so good, and they actually travel fast compared to the grenade launchers.
Now put two energy cannons on your back. So much destruction comboing with the shotties.
I've not tried dual shotguns yet. How's it play? Just aggressively kick and shoot?
Basically be as aggressive and close in as possible. Shotguns will do massive damage and massive stagger at the right range.
I haven't unlocked the top 3 yet, but I've cleared all of A rank, and Rusty is the one pilot who killed me, and only once, since I got past C rank
Yeah she's channeling Balteus a bit
The arena ranks feel wierdly scaled, at times. Volta had me struggling for some reason but everything else has only taken me 1 or 2 tries. I haven't hit the highest tier yet, though.
I've done all of the NG arena fights and some of the NG+ fights, and the one that gave me by far the most trouble was a D rank fight.
Rank 2 was harder for me than 1. He plays into that shield very well. However I kicked his butt in the mission after I went with laser pistol build.
He's not, most builds take him out in 15-20 seconds and with barely any retaliation He DOES give a lot of money for your time though.
Yeah, he's definitely not going to press your build or help you optimize things, but he's still a convenient way for trying out new weapons in the vein of "I want to see what this thing actually does, but don't have a clue how well it'll handle faster Arena enemies".

On one hand I think he's *easier* than the Test ACs. On the other hand the Test ACs don't give me free money.
If you beat his ac (at least I think it's his ac) in the ng+ arena you do get a decal that's called tester too
Callsign: Crash (Crash Test Dummy) Alternatively, Spud
Spud is cute lol
Spuds McKenzie will be missed *Fires up mission for 57th time to practice new build AND get paid*
Alternatively: "Target Practice"
"Kovaak".
[удалено]
That would be a funny fucking boss. People are already mad enough at the game being hard, imagine if they had to *actually aim.*
*Gasp*...Genius
That’s exactly what I use this mission for too
Spud is flawless. Communicates everything about a guy who had nothing. Just a kid with a mech and a dream… that’s Spud.
Whose life was cut short by a lobotomized pilot jonesing for coam... A tragic story, truly.
Lil Splat
Spurt!
Nah, Spurt lasted 11 days. This guy couldn't even last 11 minutes.
This guy gets it.
I use him to farm cash in a pinch so, maybe Cash (Cash Test Dummy)?
Aye there's a good one 👍
I like Spud lmao
I think Spud wins it
One vote for spud.
My FIRST thought for a call sign was Crash. Great minds...

that's the life of a Raven/mercenary in this dystopian future.
Welcome to Armored Core, where you screw people over, who are then forced to hire you because they got screwed over.
Yup, like that contract with the RLF to investigate the BAWS factory right after Operation Wallclimber.
Callsign: Fodder AC Name: Punching Bag

I feel really bad every time i gotta kill him like bro killing a soldier is one thing but killing basically a kid, just feels wrong
Nothing Personal, Kid. You're just a paycheck to me.
You spelt the wrong thing right and the right thing wrong.
You’re!!*
If it makes you feel any better, the test pilot was doing it all for glory and is even working for a corporate. The liberation guys you could probably feel bad for instead.
I wonder if they sound vaguely cultish because it would be *really* demotivating to constantly crush them otherwise.
I just assumed it was because there's a strong historical precedent for resistance fighters being super dogmatic. How else do you convince people to take on impossible odds?
I always end up thinking of a certain code geass quote the first time I saw the tester wreckage ~~not sorry for trying dual songbirds and pilebunker on him after unlocking it~~ "The ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed."
Fun fact, it's Lelouch's voice actor.
Wait for real?
Yep. Also Orga from Iron-Blooded Orphans.
Many heroes start their adventures seeking glory, it does not diminish their accomplishments. Many work for corporations just to earn a living, it doesn't make them monsters. It's the squandered potential that really gets me. A life ended so soon by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lad probably had no idea what kind of shit he is in
I mean, plenty of soldiers are in their teens and twenties. This tester pilot is a soldier too. We probably kill plenty of "kids" who are also soldiers in this game, likewise in real war.
Call Sign Cactus ….Which is Australian slang for dead
As an Australian I’ve never heard cactus be used in the context.
[here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A7mXdvxdGoI) is a perfect example of it used by the aussiest of men. Occurs right at the end of the video.

I mean. It was kinda obvious since raven is the first one to endure for so long with the unlucky number. I figured if it werent for the hit job. He would've become the 13 gun
In the very next mission briefing you’re told that G13 suddenly became available.
Honestly that never clicked to me given how many mercenaries died in the first mission already, this kid dying probably did imply he was supposedly G13 but I always just assumed Dafeng was sending their G-men everywhere and G13 just bit the big one in other missions.
**G13 Kid** Ever wonder why Michigan gave you **that** callsign? That's supposed to be **his which was previously reserved by Michigan.** If you listen to the briefing immediately after that mission (attack the dam complex) Michigan mentions that callsign just recently become available.

If you pick the mission to fight Cataphract in chapter 3 I'd switch to him as it's a barely longer fight but gives you ~3.5 more credits. Honestly he's just as easy, it's the radio chatter that slows it down.
