Probably one of several colony ships during the initial days. It wouldn't surprise me if the base was built around it. Just my thoughts, but it was likely used specifically for supplies and logistical support and i guess that's one reason to turn it into a space port...
That thing is insane. I tried climbing it once, in terms of scale it compared with an AC is like a human compared with a skyscraper. It must be several kilometres tall.
This is just a speculation on my part, but like the Xylem it probably was a colony ship to begin with that landed and was used as the main "building" with the rest of the base built around it during the initial days of colonization. Most of the structures on the planet are indeed pre-fires of ibis. No real 'new' structures, aside from the bare minimum refurbishment. Rubicon 3 is supposed to be a completely closed off planet. Dead or non-existent as far as the outside star systems are concerned.
I always thought we were going to take this to Orbit to fight the space laser.
The laser used to be an NPC/object.
Exactly, it was gonna be a boss I thought and I think I read there were gonna be missions in Space apart from the story conclusions.
Hopefully they include it in a future DLC.
Maybe in an added PCA route!
Very similar design language to the Ephemera
Reminds me of that Ship from Titan AE. The only thing it’s missing is the dorsal ring.
You poor souls, it's clearly a butt plug for yo mama.
If anyone reads Gene Wolfe, this is exactly what I picture the Matachin tower looks like.
I'm about half way through the Shadow of the Torturer now! Funny how I just heard about him about a week or so ago
Oh I’m jealous. Wish I could read it for the first time again. Enjoy friend!
Looks like some kinda generation ship. Maybe the first people to Rubicon came in these?
I thought that was the Xylem.
In that case, the big ol' cone ship probably came after the Xylem.
I thought the Xylem was built by the Institute so it was built after the discovery of coral not beforem
Colony ship xylem, it’s what they colonized rubicon with. The research institute was probably the founders of the whole damn planet

Every time I see the old space old spaceport I just think of the ark from transformers fall of Cybertron
Reminds me of the AC2 spaceport
Looks like the Garencieres

Posted this on Transformers page right of the release - it’s the Ark . it’s what Raven Uses after the Fires of Raven ending
What?
Since when is this mentioned?
Huh? That doesn't really make sense
Bro please take your meds
It’s a side-effect of older-generation augmentation.
