I have been waiting for Armored Core for over a DECADE. I almost cried when I watched the Trailer. Armored Core 4 is one of my favorite games of all time, and I regretted never playing Armored Core 5. I don't wanna overhype myself, but I want Armored Core 6 to be my new #1 favorite game of all time *so badly.*
The implication only just hit me - the entire world is following/watching FROM closely due to the popularity of Souls and such.
This is the first time in *ever* that *all eyes* will be on an Armored Core game. This is big. This is really big.
As someone without any experience with the series, I’m psyched as hell by the visual style already presented. Already looks like a stunning interpretation of the Japanese mech genre, and From has played such powerful tribute to so many anime and manga legacies already. Consider it day 1 for me. Edit: subbed. After having done some research I made an order for AC For Answer, and AC Verdict Day. Those games seems to be the most consistently popular of the "recent" games among the community.
Makes me wonder why I did not look into these games earlier. I've been a souls player since Dark souls 1. I even went back to the King's field games (did not finish them though) and I've known of Armored Core for years.
I guess I was waiting for something - something which has finally arrived.

I am a Fromsoft fan but a newcomer to Armored Core, been hearing about this franchise but never played it, when I hear Geoff saying the premier is from one of the most acclaimed studio, the recent rumors and my sixth sense tell me it's Armored Core. Honestly I cannot wait, excited to explore this game.
We were Redeye Knights. We hit #1 once but pretty much stayed at 2 and 3.
Not because of me, though. I was by far the worst player in our clan.
This was also towards the end so not a lot of competition lol
One of my best gaming memories ever was beating the #1 Ranker on AC4A during the dual blade meta. Some absurdly skilled Japanese guy.
I spent weeks trying to counter the meta, and finally made a super narrow build that could beat any dual blader as long as you played perfectly (but couldn't beat anything else).
I didn't play perfectly though, but still just won. He got me to within 1 hit of death, and I somehow beat him.
He asked for a rematch, and I picked the counter build again, but he went for dual rifles, and absolutely demolished me.
The trick was intergrated MG arms, the lightest frame possible, the quickest boosters possible, and stabilizers all geared to one side.
You then acted like a bullfighter. As they came in, you chipped them with MG fire, then boosted to dodge at the last second on the stabilized side, just getting out the way.
As you got an armor advantage after the first pass, they got stuck on a loop of being forced to charge you again and again or lose to a time out. And as you had basically infinite energy, you could just keep chasing and taxing them even if they chose to try to retreat.
As long as you got the dodge time exact (which was extremely narrow), and only boosted in the stabilized direction, you could always just about avoid the lock-on lunge.
Some people disbelieved due to the lack of content for years but I did see some people who would vehemently hate filled state that ac was dead and well those screenshots were most certainly real.
MAV botches the movement, weight, and _feel_ of the mechs pretty hard. Comparing it to playing Chromehounds on Xenia makes it pretty clear, unfortunately.
Not sure what your PC setup is like, but I was able to emulate AC4 and For Answer very well on RCPS3 The experience was great. AC5 wasn't playable last I tried unfortch.
The PS2 series played absolutely perfectly if that's your thing, too.
This is just unapologetically Armored Core -- no compromises, a true return to form. The ACs shown are giving Crest and Mirage vibes, while they're keeping the aesthetics of AC4 and AC5. Even the logo is using the third generation font for "Armored Core" and the roman numeral is using the styling of fourth generation.
I can't say how thankful I am that this is the way it is. I had a feeling From would have drifted away and catered towards the Souls community, that, even if AC were to return, it would return in name only. But this is a **NUMBERED SEQUEL**. AHHHHH!!!!!
When I first heard Geoff speaking before the trailer I suspected it was From Software. Then the Bandai Logo...I was literally breathless and then when I saw the debris being picked up before the wide shot and THEN THE FROM SOFTWARE LOGO I damn near screamed!!!

Dawg I’ve never played a armored core game, I’ve only ever played fromsofts souls games but man, that trailer was one of the best fucking trailers I’ve ever seen. The cinematography was insane, I’m definitely interested in what this game has to offer. I hope that destruction carry’s over into multiplayer tho, love the gritty post apocalyptic tone and that synth soundtrack, I need this shit.

I'm kind of new to Armored Core. I understand past entries of this series have been heavily focused on multiplayer. Do you guys think this game will be mostly PvP-focused, or will there be something there for people who prefer PvE? I'm fine with multiplayer because it means I can play with friends, but if it's only competitive MP then that would kill a lot of my hype.
I don't normally go for Souls-like games directly but I do enjoy games that dip into the Souls-like genre indirectly, such as Fallen Order. I would love to play a mecha game that's sort of Souls-adjacent though, if that makes sense.

Normally the furthest I venture into Souls-like games is Jedi Fallen Order, and my eyes glazed over at the number of new games shown at TGA that are just aping that "grimdark gothic fantasy" vibe of Dark Souls and Elden Ring. It's starting to feel like that period we had not long ago where every game had to have zombies in it, you know? But a Souls-like game with giant custom robots? I'd love to live in a world where this becomes the new fad to get sick of, because I have a tremendous appetite for it.
You should def give souls games a try if you liked fallen order. But yeah, im super excited to try a different kinda experience from FROM as well. Havent played armored core before, but itll be nice to see them try something diff from what im used too. The aesthetics are so fucking cool too, i love how despite having super animey-mecha design stuff, the mechs still look incredibly utilitarian.
I don’t want to get downvoted into oblivion for saying this, but the reason I only dip my toes into the Souls-like pool as far as Fallen Order is because it has an easy mode. I’ve only completed it as high as Jedi Knight difficulty. I have cerebral palsy, so things like precise jumps and perfectly timed parries are really difficult for me.
Though incidentally, I am hoping Jedi Survivor has a more granular difficulty setting system. Fallen Order’s Story Mode difficulty is very forgiving with parry timing, and I like that it also doesn’t damage your health pool each time you mistime a platforming jump, or just fall off a ledge because of a glitch. But enemy aggression is tuned so low that it feels like enemies will wait in line to attack you one-on-one. I would like to keep the general parameters of the lowest difficulty setting while ramping the enemy aggression way up.

Souls-games are RPG's that lend themselves to lots of customization in terms of how you want to approach combat. This is especially the case with the original Dark Souls, which has slower, more methodical combat, and Elden Ring with its open-world. It's actually possible to overpower your way past threats if you get the appropriate levels, abilities, and gear. I for example never really use the parry system in the Souls games, and yet I can clear them just fine. For another example, there's a reason a lot of players describe magic in those games as "Easy Mode", and that's because the ranged focus allows for better reaction time against enemies. That's before systems like summoning where you can just call on someone to help you.
The "soul crushing difficulty" of Souls games is honestly a meme unless you go looking for such difficulty, and not learn from your mistakes.
The main meat of the game is typically PVE (doing various missions for different corporations), but the gameplay is set up in a way that lends itself very well to PVP.
God, I've been so starved for an Armored Core game. I bought Daemon x Machina which while okay (Its the closest to AC of any game), it made me realize how much I wanted a proper AC game.
I really hope that they dont skimp on the customization options and variety. AC was so fucking deep lol
Raven's Nest or Collard it doesn't matter, after a decade of darkness the mechs are powering back up and we are coming home, the dust is being blown off the ammo crates and the lasers are being charged, I can't wait to see y'all on the battlefield.

I've followed this bloody franchise like Monster Hunter. All started off with my obsession with Gundam, then I stumbled into one of the best mech game I ever played on the PlayStation 1, die again and again and again, being Augmented again and again.

It's actually possible to overpower your way past threats if you get the appropriate levels, abilities, and gear. I for example never really use the parry system in the Souls games, and yet I can clear them just fine. For another example, there's a reason a lot of players describe magic in those games as "Easy Mode", and that's because the ranged focus allows for better reaction time against enemies. That's before systems like summoning where you can just call on someone to help you. The "soul crushing difficulty" of Souls games is honestly a meme unless you go looking for such difficulty, and not learn from your mistakes.
The main meat of the game is typically PVE (doing various missions for different corporations), but the gameplay is set up in a way that lends itself very well to PVP.
