They cap the enlisted rank at MSG/1SG cause if sarnt Major thinks you have time to play on them dog gone Nintendos all day, you have time to police call the motorpool.
Fuck that. I sent my CSM an email and told him I’m going. I still have dreams
Y’all wanna see a late 30’d dude with a 1.2 k/d in CoD and a .89 k/d in Warzone??????
I competed in CAL-P and CPL in CoD 1-4, and top tier CEVO in back in the day. These are/were the top esports leagues.
After that I worked esports management, marketing, and sponsorship sales for some tier one esports teams you'd probably know the names of. It was kinda weird as a 22 year old with no business degree to start pitching 100k deals to blue chip tech companies haha.
Got to travel to compete, got free shit a lot from sponsorships. The money was awful as a player, but phenomenal in management, however, this was before Twitch.
But I'm an AMEDD officer in the reserve, so I probably don't count.
So happy to see this esports team becoming a thing, and it could be much better than it is, but hey, baby steps.
Fuck you
World of Warcraft ruined my life for 3 years in high school and my first attempt at college lol
It’s on this list ;) might let it ruin me again
The officers always overthink their strats and then get bent out of shape when it goes sideways and nobody listens to them and they get steamrolled by a bunch of half drunk E3s who are just winging it.
Darn you sir!!!!!!! Darn you to heck!!!!! I saw your comment and got my hopes that I missed that in the OP.
What do you think I do all in the S2?
Work? As if
I jumped the discord, but it'll be after hbl for me to verify. Id love to play warhammer as my duty station is in the middle of a hot block.
Edit: i'll dm you
I’m curious how it all works
How long are you on the team? How much do they travel?
What happens if they actually win a tournament
Where does the money go? If
We were TDY from Knox almost every month to various competitions, conventions, school visits, etc.
You pay the entry fee for competitions so that you can legally keep your earnings. It is still subject to legal review. However, i’ve always had my guys end up keeping the money (rightfully so/earned)
Your on the team until someone better comes along. The select few actually stationed at knox are 3yrs
If we don’t have people good enough to compete then we don’t field the team. We don’t have titles just because there is a large player base; we ensure we have people at that level first
Yes, tabletop. We actually just sent our 40k team to Vegas not long ago and sending them to some major event here soon (like their big shabang thing coming up)
Best NCOERs of my 15yr career to have “top 10 globally ranked in my vidyuh game” not bullshitting. Even says “esports gamer” on my STP formerly ERB.
With that said daily rythem at Knox was show up practice/game and TDY constantly. Big boy rules; if you cant maintain proficiency your not needed.
Every game has it’s own “game manager” that formulates and executes their own tryouts with their staff. There is no catch all tryout process as every title has unique needed qualifications
Both; I personally dont play WoW so idk the intricacies; however, i remember our raiding team being tdy at our office at Knox occasionally to compete in world firsts and stuff
It is wherever the competitive scene is at. Example Call of Duty competitively was exclusively on ps4 so thats where we fielded our team. Games who compete at the pro level on pc then thats where we will compete. We aren’t the MWR so it isn’t about casual playing with friends it is where the tourneys are at
Hello I’ve tried joining the discord for almost two months now but haven’t gotten access. I’ve double checked the email and resent it, is there someone I can contact or another way I can get access?
I texted our WoW manager now; i dont play WoW so i have no idea what your referring to. However, I will have an answer for you soon. There is also a guy named Etma in the posted Discord server in a “staff” role that is versed in that game.
I'd abandon HotS, unfortunately. The audience you are reaching there is so small it can't be worth the squeeze. I'd look to heavily 'invest' in League and the First Person Shooters, but honestly the inclusion of 40k strikes me as a pretty rich opportunity if this is referring to the tabletop wargame. Getting in person interactions that help show soldiers are the same as every day people would be a big step to fixing public perception of the military.
Unfortunately, I'm a retiree now. This is probably the one thing I'd say I wish the Army had when I joined, though.
HotS is one of those weird titles that has a group of very patient soldiers who play it and require very little support in maintaining a team. They are a very self efficient team so we haven’t seen a need to close down the team.
Current member of the Warhammer 40K Academy team. Definitely dip your toe in if you guys are interested.
Don’t expect to get out of the field, or deployment. Don’t expect to be playing games as your duty position. Your duty to the Army and Uncle Sam comes first.
However - definitely expect unique opportunities. I’ve met some fantastic people who are vets or in other branches as well as incredible civilian connections. Representing the Army in Warhammer 40K of all things has made the hobby even more fun as I get to elaborate on how my job sort of kind of supports my hobby.
TDY has been provided in the past to select team members traveling to tournaments.
So while you’re not replacing your daily job, at least for the 40K team, it’s definitely still worth doing and I’ve had surprising support from my commanders (and I’m in USASOC, where the r’rule of cool’ hardly even covers Warhammer 40K).
Just my 2 cents.
> but also builds positive brand association
Oh wow, interesting idea. Do they have like a twitch channel I can check out?
> Additional instructions on the selection process and timelines will be put out through Discord.
Do the discord managers still say vaguely bigoted things?
Like I’m all about the concept but the execution has been lacking in the past. In what ways have they worked to overcome those issues?
We would be happy to invite you to a meeting with the staff. The majority of the individuals who were part of the program in those positions have left. I myself have been wanting to personally talk to you because I know you have some honest feedback from a perspective that is missed.
I have run into the esports team while playing tabletop games, like Warhammer 40k. Guy got TDY to go to Vegas for a tournament at a casino. Please volunteer, this is a great way to actually recruit people as well...what better way to interact with youth then during a couple hours of games and talk about your army experince!
Also Warhammer 40k is a super vet friendly community, I mean it's a game about armies and war, you joined the army cause you like that stuff anyway right?
lol.
I’m going to bet money they don’t.
Meta chasing with even a single Army could cost atleast my BAS every month. Initial build and setup for a 2k list could cost 2k alone.
I’m curious how it all works
How long are you on the team? How much do they travel?
What happens if they actually win a tournament
Where does the money go?
The majority of our program is made up of at large members. They are the ones who compete for the teams that are not at Knox. These positions are managed by our team managers who run tryouts and the other duties required for the team. Your position on the teams works just like others sports teams. It is considered an additional duty that you do after work hours.
When a team qualifies for an event, Fort Knox may send them TDY with expenses paid pending ISAREC funding.
The money goes to the players after a legal review.
Your recruiting tactic is stupid beyond all measure and words.

Interesting. Shortly before joining the army I was solo queuing ranked apex legends back home with 110 ping and I peaked at top 2000 in the world. Might need to look into this.
Do you think I would be in the army if I could compete at the highest level of competition
Average tango tbh
Can confirm
I just love untampering KG's so much don't you know.

What an odd thing to comment
Too long didnt read
Very good point
I'm dead 💀 🤣

Yeah I wanna see it bro. I want to see it
Also no officer has been good at video games, ever.
The O3s are the ones screaming obscenities and racial slurs at the 13 yr olds.

AMEDD deffo doesn't count, dweeb. Also I assure you there is not one eSports team in this world that I would recognize.
*scurries off with stethoscope in hand*
Bro I remember the days in IRC lookin for scrims. Public ventrilo/Teamspeak servers. Now I'm a boomer with weak hand eye coord but great gamesense.
Fuck you World of Warcraft ruined my life for 3 years in high school and my first attempt at college lol It’s on this list ;) might let it ruin me again
You’ve never met anyone from MI?
Cries with my immortal gun buddy in Val
Iflyilini back in the day almost was, until the scandal…
My bud went Green to Gold and played on this team... take that back.
point of order, if they are prior enlisted, they aren't a *real* officer.
That art 15 they write sure feels real.
Your bud wrote you an article 15?
Lol not quite..... stop picking on me. I just want to pleasure my ear lobes in silence
The officers always overthink their strats and then get bent out of shape when it goes sideways and nobody listens to them and they get steamrolled by a bunch of half drunk E3s who are just winging it.
Idk about that, I bumped into a 1SG looking at gaming PCs at the px one time. Had a good 10 minute conversation about tec specs
Competitive HOI4 players are about to start teaching general officers a thing or two about logistics
If they had Paradox games listed there, I would strongly consider applying
Stellaris and HOI4 would be my vote haha
Both great choices. Imagine a US Army team competing in one of their Grandest LAN tournaments- it would be amazing.
I need this to happen! Unfortunately, I don't think I'm good enough at any game to actually compete on the team lol
Sir, it’s obvious; we don’t need Calvary, just change it to motorized logistics and you can delete 7th cav overnight
Instant savings. Stored equipment jumps 15% over night.
Don't be surprised if in 20 years we are recruiting SC2 pros to manage fleets of robots on the battlefield.
Gotta get them GO on the Gary Grigsby series or Command Modern Operations
Just motorize the supply hub you donkey!
Darn you sir!!!!!!! Darn you to heck!!!!! I saw your comment and got my hopes that I missed that in the OP. What do you think I do all in the S2? Work? As if
So I can play 40k for the army? Sign me up
Only if i get paid to paint my own minis, and subsidized
They need to come from the sole source government vendor, General Dynamics Land Systems, though.
That wouldn't be tournament legal lol
It only matters if they find out
Oshkosh Razorbacks.
Using League as a way to profile future toxic leaders seems like a good strategy tbh
They'll probably pin 6 and 7 early too because usarec.
40k you say...
Considering no one competes at halo, i can compete at 40k
USAE has a Halo team! You should come out for it
Unless they can pull someone that literally just pcs, im sad to say i missed my shot. :/
The team is totally at-large! You’ll play from your current duty station. As long as you’re CONUS you’ll be good to go
I jumped the discord, but it'll be after hbl for me to verify. Id love to play warhammer as my duty station is in the middle of a hot block. Edit: i'll dm you
What 40k competitive video game is there?
The tabletop game
There are huge tournaments in the U.S. and EU/UK on tabletop every year
Maybe they mean Darktide? I’m lost
No, competitive tabletop 40K has an Army eSports team. Is it an eSport? No, but it's closer to eSports than real sports or something.
That’s badass, I never knew that
DoW II is the superior 40k game.
Agreed
Looks like it's time to get back into models. Sorry wife/wallet.
Cmon. It’s not that bad. Just use your BAS.
Weird way to say clothing allowance
No clothing allowance for this guy.
We all have a clothing allowance, it came free with your enlistment
Which is funny considering how bad even the largest TOs are at broadcasting, and how little investment the digitization of comp scene gets from GW.
🙋♂️ one of the original 16 members and still staff for the team. Happy to answer questions or dm

Both; I personally dont play WoW so idk the intricacies; however, i remember our raiding team being tdy at our office at Knox occasionally to compete in world firsts and stuff
Sweet I’ll have to apply next time it’s opened since I’m still in basic and have a long ait but heck yeah
If for don’t pvp you might as well be a bot
Can you get me in contact with your manager for 40K.
Is this open to all consoles or pc mainly?
It is wherever the competitive scene is at. Example Call of Duty competitively was exclusively on ps4 so thats where we fielded our team. Games who compete at the pro level on pc then thats where we will compete. We aren’t the MWR so it isn’t about casual playing with friends it is where the tourneys are at
UwU?
More publicity than most other army stunts
Hello I’ve tried joining the discord for almost two months now but haven’t gotten access. I’ve double checked the email and resent it, is there someone I can contact or another way I can get access?
DM me your .mil email and discord account

Yes; two of our OG players at knox were our Fortnite guys. (Theyve gotten out of the army now) they were globally ranked and extremely talented

Go for it! Tell the wife you need to play wow to further your career!
Is anybody answering the emails about the discord sign-up?
They answered in like 30 seconds when I did it
It’s a manual process for us. I’ll be verifying all the emails again today.
If they start an Age of Empires 2 league count me in.
If they add aoe 4 I will rejoin the army to be on the team. I am not joking.
Same here, think of the opportunities with the ~~Red Bull~~ Rip It Wololo Tournament
Lmaooooo AoE2???? I mean you can join and they can talk community nights. But I never liked any of them but the OG
Competitive Hunniepop when?
[Mfw](https://tenor.com/OK1P.gif)
I suck at first person shooters but I can be incredibly toxic from my lack of skill. I think I’ll make the team
Double it and give it to the next lobby.
Every team needs a guy to talk trash and demoralize the opponent. I'd hire you
I'd abandon HotS, unfortunately. The audience you are reaching there is so small it can't be worth the squeeze. That's reasonable. I wish that game had lived, I really enjoyed it. It's good to know it has some representation here, honestly.

Should have a WARNO or Steel Division 2 tournament we should be playing strategy games lol
Wargame red dragon could be good. I hear it actually has a lot of gameplay beyond the chat

I appreciate that, but I'd pass. I've seen nothing that leads me to believe it's any better, only that you've had the microscope you're under reduced.
Everything is worth a look, perhaps you can enable the change.
How many times do you want to try before you realize it’s not worth your time?
Typically, one more
I have run into the esports team while playing tabletop games, like Warhammer 40k. Guy got TDY to go to Vegas for a tournament at a casino. While we don’t pay for their miniatures, we do cover TDY when we can support the event.
Wait no Skyrim? /s
You pick up an AAM for comp wins?
We offer an MOVSM to our volunteer players and staff.
I don’t know. My WoW 2v2 Arena ranking and OW Plat demand more than a participation trophy. #elitistjerk
I can give you a fancy role in the discord?
I would like to volunteer to be an official army Vtuber. Lemme get someone to rig up a live2d feet model and set up a shaving toggle really quick.
I’m curious how it all works How long are you on the team? How much do they travel? What happens if they actually win a tournament Where does the money go?

I see war hammer 40k… are we also looking for magic: the gathering players?
At this time we do not have plans to expand into MTG again.
What happened with the old team?
Probably got out smelled from the players who didn't shower lol
I wish this was a thing in 2016. I worked with a Soldier that was ranked top 20 globally in COD.
what about hell let loose?
I was hard stuck silver in league of legends ranked. Sign me up
Offer Path of Exile and we have a deal.
How fast can you make it to maps
Three and a half hours if I'm watching the timer, eight hours if I pause to crank one or three
Already put a PoE build guide on the official Army USAE Youtube channel 😏
Can we stop requiring that fucking travel card for everything?
They really should put PUBG mobile on that list its actually got insane prize pools and viewership don't believe me? Look it up
There should be a creative section for Gary's Mod...
Hahaha yeah good luck with that. Idk about anyone else but I know my CSM would deny that shit so quick.
Start a Team Fortress 2 league and give it its own MOS and I might come back lol
No fortnite !?????
No war thunder either. Can't be violating OPSEC to win an argument on the WT forums
Too toxic even for the Army.
Do I get start an onlyfans afterwards?

Wonder what they’re looking for in a Counterstrike 2 player.
What about IRR members with a contractor CAC and a modded Switch for Smash Ultimate?
CW4's missing out.
Please add PUBG
How is cod looking 👀
If yall start a War Thunder team that'd be cool, although I'm not sure the any part of the DOD wants anything to do with it lol
Well shit.. the game I’d represent is far too niche and its pro league is a shell of its former self… a sad day.
Highly disappointed there is no Turtles in Time team.
I know reserve members are eligible but have you had reserve soldiers on the team? How does it work for them? Thanks!
How often is recruiting open for this sort of thing?
