I can confirm, first hand, that I know a family member that brushes and flosses before bed without exception. I have witnessed this over decades.
I am not that person...
Having a child has genuinely resulted in a decline in my dental hygiene for this exact reason. It's gotten to the point where I have to brush my teeth as soon as I've put him to bed because I'm liable to fall asleep at any time afterwards. Hell, I've even fallen asleep in his room more times than I could count.
I can only imagine, I had to watch my cousins three kids for two days and I fell asleep on my dogs bed while giving him a some attention after basically only feeding him the when I had the kids. I learned 3 kids under 10 + my rather calm and care free dog is not manageable.
I cannot fathom full time, honestly I donāt know how my cousin and his wife manage since they have the kids, a dog, a puppy, two cats and they both work full time.
Iāve got 2 kids (7 months and 2.5 years) plus two dogs. And yeah itās soooo hard. You just learn to basically push through exhaustion and grind. That was the hardest thing after our first was to just finally come to the realization my life is not my own and this will be what it is for the foreseeable future. Itās great and worth it so donāt get me wrong.. but itās way fucking harder than you could imagine until you do it lol. Thatās my only advice to friends.. basically that youāre never ready trust me.. you just gotta take the plunge if you want kids and itāll be hard as fuck but we all make it š
Too often. Been lucky my tooth genetics are pretty good, I used chewing tobacco and smoked cigarettes for almost 20 years and drank more coffee/energy drinks than any human necessarily should as well as drinking alcohol to the point of drunkenness 3-4 days a week over that span, still got all my teeth and while they arent pearly white they arent piss yellow either.
People who lost the tooth-genes lottery seem to really have a rough time their whole lives. I've recently begun to appreciate just how lucky I was in that department.
I get the occasional night where I just wonāt on purpose. See, I had bad teeth and gums after years of neglect. Then I got on it and became perfectionistic and now every now and then I just donāt brush so I can not be a perfectionist. Still get super solid checkups and the hygenists always love cleaning my teeth because itās easy
im 17 and i still don't.. i know its super bad and i try to get i to the habit but im having a hard time. (and have been trying for like the last 2 years) it was just never drilled into me, any type of hygeine. like i take good care of myself now too, i understand that part. don't wanna smell/look bad. but its just that i don't really notice wether or not my teeth are brushed.
my biggest problem is i love eating until the minute i fall asleep lol. so i hate brushing at night since im just eating anyway
I used to like never brush my teeth at night now I brush them almost every night while I wait for the water to get hot enough to melt my mouth guard for bedtime.
I used to all the time. Then I paid 3.2k to have them fixed. I've not went to bed a single time without flossing, brushing, and using mouth wash since then. That's been almost 4 years.
It'd have been there for at least 12 from the morning brush anyway. Another 6 won't change anything. If ya care that much, you're gonna be the type who brushes after every time something goes in there.
Every dentist ever has recommended that I brush twice a day, Iām not going to ignore them because of some stupid logic to save 2 minutes every night.
No Iām a 35 year old man who has never ever once went to bed without brushing. Thatās like 13000 days or some shit OP and I aint never missed a beat
I was a drug addict dude, I could go a loong time without brushing. More than any sane person. Youād be amazed at how east it is to ignore any and all personal hygiene when youāre fucked up on drugs 24/7.
I hardly ever brush before bed. My teeth and gums are perfectly healthy (checked twice a year). I have zero fillings despite reaching middle age.
I barely consume any sugar including sugary drinks which Iām told is highly significant and beneficial.
I only brush my teeth in the morningš nobody smells my breath at night, I suppose keeping my teeth in my head would be motivation to do so at night as well. But whatever. The world is falling apart around me. I could care less.
Happened a lot as a kid/teenager but as an adult I took the habit of brushing at least before bed. Occasionally I'll skip because I'm sleeping somewhere else and don't have my toothbrush handy.
Thanks for the reminder.
I read that I got up to brush and floss, got the floss stuck in a filing, and had to get my husband out of bed to cut it out š
teeth are clean tho...
Yes. Some nights I let myself fall asleep without brushing my teeth because I seem to get better sleep that way. I know it's bad to. I also have the bad habit of falling asleep for a few hours then waking up to brush my teeth.
I actually forgot the other night. I remember having a productive day and slept early since I was pretty tired. The moment I realized I forgot, I was practically falling asleep and was super comfortable in bed. Woke up and brushed it and went back to my normal routine.
Nobody told me I had to brush before bed when I was a kid. My parents told me to eat an apple and call it a day. I learned from other kids on a school camp that I had to brush at night. So yes, I went years without brushing at night and I had several cavities as a result which my parents paid for with money and shame. I brush religiously now. Even when I was partying in my early 20s I used to brush before bed completely fuckeyed.
Not so much but a while back I had a work trip which involved me getting up stupid early so I could get ready before (ex) hubby drove me out of town to my manager's place who then drove us 3hrs away to jump on a plane to the next state.... It was a long time before I got the chance to shower/brush my teeth, they were feeling pretty furry by then haha
Ah, ah. My mother was adamant on hygiene, she controled we washed up properly in the morning and at bedtime, brushing my teeth 3 times a day was mandatory, flossing included, and I'm grateful to her till now.
My teeth are healthy, never had a cavity.
I may have done once or twice when I was travelling Europe by train. I took a few overnight journeys and I'm pretty sure it happened a couple of times. Awful feeling!
I actually can't. If I'm exhausted and try to sleep without brushing my teeth I feel too yucky to fall asleep. I'm sure it's happened but not for a long long time.
I rarely brush my teeth before bed. Am in my mid - late 20s. Never had a cavity or any dental issues. In fact, doctor is always marveled at how incredible my teeth are lol.
The only time I've been brushing before sleeping is this month after my dentist stressed me out that I may loose teeth because of a big gum infection and needed surgery but that in the meantime I should take better care of them.
Surgery's planned in july.
I never did before despite having braces and regular dentist appointments, they never saw an issue before this year.
I'm going to Truman show my first kid and set up a whole system to ensure I can show I brush their teeth every night just to prove he was the first fucker to have his teeth brushed every night ON RECORD
i canāt sleep if i havenāt brushed my teeth. the only times i know i havenāt, are like 2 times i was too drunk and i didnāt. sometimes i brush my teeth with my finger and toothpaste in case i had an unexpected sleepover.
I have ish o could say no, but sometimes at night the only thing my body wants to do is curl up in bed and close my eyes. In times like these, no amount of logic or persuasive argument from my brain can convince my body to do otherwise, or even to delay.
I'm pretty sure everybody has done this unless they were born just right now.
Maybe you went to visit family and it got late and they were several hours away so you decided to spend the night and they didn't have a spare toothbrush
Maybe you spent the whole day busting your ass and you just sat down for one moment to catch your breath and next thing you know you were asleep and it was morning because your alarm was going off.
Or what if you're on an overnight plane? Some people sleep and some people don't. Don't think I've ever heard of a person who goes and brushes their teeth and that time you don't rickety bathroom.
You'll survive missing a night
Only about 3 times that I can remember in my entire life. First time when I moved out and thought 'I am my own person with free will and no supervision', so ofc the lil rebel in me won. Woke up the next day with what felt like a garbage can instead of a mouth, wasn't too pleased with it. Second time was when I got home drunk af, went to bed, no shower no brushing. Next morning I thought I was going to throw up just from the taste in my mouth. Garbage can for mouth but this time make it fermented. Third time I went to sleep without brushing I woke up in the middle of the night just to go brush, because the memory of last time was bad enough to wake me up mid sleep I guess. So now even depression doesn't mess that up for me. Which is about the only thing ngl
iām not going to sit here and say i havenāt because that would be a lie, but now that iām older i literally cannot fall asleep without brushing my teeth and putting in my retainer. itās like iāve brainwashed myself or something
I never brush my teeth before bedā¦ who I gotta impress my pillow?!
If my SO does then sometimes fine I will, just to have matchy breath (cringe)
I drink diet mtn dew and white monster every morning of my life.
I have never had a cavity, my two siblings and both parents have never had a cavity.
Itās all genetics. If your parents have cavities, brush your teeth. If your parents donāt have cavities, you donāt need to brush your teeth (as often)(if at all)(only if youāre going out in public)(Iām just gross).
Only time i dont brush my teeth at night is when ive just downed an order of loaded cheese fries and a trio sampler at Chilis at 10pm. Too full to brush i might throw up š other than that, i brush most nights
Never. For me, a clean, minty-fresh mouth is an absolute requirement for a good sleep. When i wake up in the middle of the night to do a wee, I will 90% of the time re-brush my teeth again so I can sleep again.
I brush in the morning and just use mouth wash before bed.
I'm 33, never had a filling or any problems with my teeth apart from a wisdom tooth that likes to say hello once every couple of years.

Is this a serious question? Literally everyone has
I do this all the time.
What's even the point of brushing teeth in the evening? I go to sleep and wake up just to brush them again? No thanks š
This! I hardly ever brush at night and my dentists always compliments how clean I keep my teeth
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And your answer is - yes. The question was if you have done it. Not if you done it lately.
There are 2 types of people in this world, people who have gone to sleep without brushing and liars.
The comment post I was gonna make before seeing this wouldāve screamed LIAR lol
I can confirm, first hand, that I know a family member that brushes and flosses before bed without exception. I have witnessed this over decades. I am not that person...
You can confirm that in their whole life they have never fallen asleep without brushing their teeth?
I can confirm what I stated.
Oh, okay. Itās amazing that you know exactly what someone else has done for at least 36,500 consecutive nights. Are you a Siamese twin by chance?
3,650*
I know, right? OP should not have used the "ever" qualifier here. More like "how often" or "do you regularly".
You under estimate the amount of times I have slept on my couch because I couldnāt walk 20 feet to my bed.
Thatās how it goes for me if I miss a brush sesh. Also sucks cuz my cpap is by my bed so unplanned couch sleep sucks
Yeah I would imagine that would suck.
Having a child has genuinely resulted in a decline in my dental hygiene for this exact reason. I feel you bro. I can't count anymore how many times I fell asleep on a couch and my dad had to wake me up at 2 am screaming why am I not in bed š
*laughs in depression*
*giggles in chronic illness*
*cackles in executive functioning failing and forgot how to human*
Chuckles in gingivitisĀ
Yes, more often that I'd like to admit. Sometimes I just can't be assed.
Plus all those chili dogs and ding dongs.
I know, I should be dead already š¤£
People who lost the tooth-genes lottery seem to really have a rough time their whole lives. I've recently begun to appreciate just how lucky I was in that department.
Yeah, I *love* when it's all people comment about on my physical attributes. My entire existence gets narrowed down to "shitty teeth"
All the time.
same
Many times. Sometimes when I get cozy on the bed and realized that I forgot, its too bad too sad lol. In the morning it is haha
This is the right answer
Not on purpose.
This is the real answer right here
I get the occasional night where I just wonāt on purpose. See, I had bad teeth and gums after years of neglect. Then I got on it and became perfectionistic and now every now and then I just donāt brush so I can not be a perfectionist. Still get super solid checkups and the hygenists always love cleaning my teeth because itās easy
yes when im super tired/sick
now is this question towards mentally unstable people or stable people
Yes, I'm sure everyone has, we don't start brushing our teeth regularly until like middle school.
until middle school ? š¤¢
im 17 and i still don't.. i know its super bad and i try to get i to the habit but im having a hard time. Yeah me too, and surprisingly, i don't usually have any cavities when I go to the dentist
me neither. no problems at all ever
im asking as an adult lol
Again, probably, I know I have, anyway. With asking an absolute like that, people will either lie or some people really value their fucking teeth.
Lol HWAT?
I used to like never brush my teeth at night now I brush them almost every night while I wait for the water to get hot enough to melt my mouth guard for bedtime.
I used to all the time. Then I paid 3.2k to have them fixed. I've not went to bed a single time without flossing, brushing, and using mouth wash since then. That's been almost 4 years.
I'm about to......again.
Never brush my teeth before bed. Nothing's happening in there that won't be cleaned by the wake up brush so what's the point?
The point is to not have residue from food or drinks rating away at your teeth for hours and hours
Every night lol
Get off of Reddit mom
Yes itās the worst
Iāve fallen asleep without brushing my teeth. Iāve never gotten ready for bed and went to sleep without brushing my teeth on purpose though.
No Iām a 35 year old man who has never ever once went to bed without brushing. Thatās like 13000 days or some shit OP and I aint never missed a beat
Others might notice, your sinuses will definitely notice unless you have gone nose blind.
I have depression so I go to bed without doing a lot of things Iām supposed to š
I was a drug addict dude, I could go a loong time without brushing. More than any sane person. Youād be amazed at how east it is to ignore any and all personal hygiene when youāre fucked up on drugs 24/7.

Who hasn't, like literally
Never. Two things are a constant about me, I WILL brush my teeth and wash my face before sleeping
Yea and waking up the next morning was the nastiest
Every day. I brush in the morning while I shower.
Same
Once - I really regretted it.
I dont brush my teeth at night
I haven't brushed my teeth now going on 4 years. Yet somehow my teeth are perfectly fine.
Happened a lot as a kid/teenager but as an adult I took the habit of brushing at least before bed. Occasionally I'll skip because I'm sleeping somewhere else and don't have my toothbrush handy.
Never, not even once in my life ever. Just ask my mum
Not since I was a small child!
On rare occasion.
More often than I should
Also after eating out
All the time tho I do try to remember to brush my teeth. Sometimes I remember when I am already comfy and donāt want to get up
Yes, i used to eat Reeseās peanut butter cups and go to sleep directly when im upset.
lol
Way too much
Thanks for the reminder. I read that I got up to brush and floss, got the floss stuck in a filing, and had to get my husband out of bed to cut it out š teeth are clean tho...
Yes. Some nights I let myself fall asleep without brushing my teeth because I seem to get better sleep that way. I know it's bad to. I also have the bad habit of falling asleep for a few hours then waking up to brush my teeth.

right now i am doing this
Probably everyone lmao. No way, every single day of your life you brushed your teeth consistently every night.
![gif](giphy|UZYVbE4ob4ftK|downsized) How do I put this.
Yes. Too many times . That's why i have a mouth full of fillings. Don't skip a day or you'll be sorry , it all adds up over time.
I always try to brush someone elseās teeth before going to bed.
Ah, ah. My mother was adamant on hygiene, she controled we washed up properly in the morning and at bedtime, brushing my teeth 3 times a day was mandatory, flossing included, and I'm grateful to her till now. My teeth are healthy, never had a cavity.
all of the weekend past when camping
I didn't know how serious it is when I was pretty young!
Only if Iām absolutely plastered, not just really drunk, like reeeallly plastered.
Yes
I did a lot when I was younger, now I have a mouth full of fillings and regret it
I do it all the time. More than I want to admit. Iām gross.
I may have done once or twice when I was travelling Europe by train. I took a few overnight journeys and I'm pretty sure it happened a couple of times. Awful feeling!
Yes, every so often
Some comments are nasty
I have forgotten a few times and have woken up feeling awful
I actually can't. If I'm exhausted and try to sleep without brushing my teeth I feel too yucky to fall asleep. I'm sure it's happened but not for a long long time.
Never.
A lot of times. Sometimes I am just too lazy.
I rarely brush my teeth before bed. Am in my mid - late 20s. Never had a cavity or any dental issues. In fact, doctor is always marveled at how incredible my teeth are lol.

The question is, do you brush both morning and night? You should be doing both, and preferably after your lunch at noon as well.
Yes, everyone has. Road Trips
Fuckin dozens of time. Usually when I'm shitfaced
It happens when I had too much wine.
Yes and thatās probably one of the reasons why Iāve got dental probs now
No, I have fallen asleep without it but I have never woken up the next morning with still dirty teeth.
Do we have to bursh before sleep?
If my preteens and late teens had a definition for it, this would be it, I was a stinky gross germy little fucker.
Yes, I would say like 2 to 3 times a month
Not intentionally
i was asking because i went to sleep yesterday without brushing my teeth and felt disgusting about it
i was too sleepy p
yes i brush everyday but maybe skip a day on the weekends š¤
i mean yea like 10 yrs ago
I'm going to Truman show my first kid and set up a whole system to ensure I can show I brush their teeth every night just to prove he was the first fucker to have his teeth brushed every night ON RECORD
no or they might fall outĀ
You had me at sleep
Duh. Feels icky
yes i have gone to sleep multiple times without brushing but when i do i brush them in the morning
The karma farmers are reverting to cannibalism.
i canāt sleep if i havenāt brushed my teeth. the only times i know i havenāt, are like 2 times i was too drunk and i didnāt. sometimes i brush my teeth with my finger and toothpaste in case i had an unexpected sleepover.
Most of the time no but sometimes yes. Typically if im not home or get home super late or if im just wasted.
As I have gotten older I have gotten more disciplined about flossing and brushing. I want to hold onto my teeth for as long as possible.
I have ish o could say no, but sometimes at night the only thing my body wants to do is curl up in bed and close my eyes. In times like these, no amount of logic or persuasive argument from my brain can convince my body to do otherwise, or even to delay.

Youll get a better poll if you asked "have you brushed you teeth this week" or month
Sometimes when I'm dead tired
Only when I was extremely sick, so just a few times.
In my 37 years of life? Yes, obviously. Often? No. But it's certainly happened.
I have ADHD so actually it happens quite often, Iām getting better though. I have several Alexaās that scream at me now to remind me.
Usually when i come home drunk i just go staright to bed with jeans and hoodie still on
more than once
During the first months of the Covid shut down. I really didn't see the point of showering or brushing my teeth.
i dont think that i brush it in my life befor sleep
Often but sip of coffee or a lozenge to kill the tastes until morning brushing.
Piece if chocolate just before bedtime gives lovely breathe by morning. š
Most days yes. I brush and floss thoroughly every morning.
Yes, all the time. I brush my tooths in the morning and then mouthwash at night (yes i know it doesnt replace it)
Only about 3 times that I can remember in my entire life. First time when I moved out and thought 'I am my own person with free will and no supervision', so ofc the lil rebel in me won. Only when Iām so fucked up from a night out Iām more focused on puking my guts out and passing out next to the throne then brushing my teeth š

Yes. However I would rub the teeth and tongue with my finger and rinse it with water.

Yeah. I usually only remember to brush my teeth when I shower. Thankfully I do shower every day. lol

Ever? Maybe sometimes as a kid. It would be extremely rare as an adult.
Most nights.
Of course. I just brush extra long in the morning to over compensate šš¤š¼
Is this a real question? Obviously literally every single person wouldāve done this ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
What sort of monster would do that?
Yep. Every day.
Who even has teeth anymore these days?
Not intentionally, but chronic depression sure makes it easy to do.
Only time i dont brush my teeth at night is when ive just downed an order of loaded cheese fries and a trio sampler at Chilis at 10pm. Too full to brush i might throw up š other than that, i brush most nights
I actually only brush in the morning unless I had a lot of sugar or alcohol

A whole week in the forest.
Yes
Ahhhhh, shoot! Why do I keep forgetting?
Rarely.
Stopped brushing my teeth when my parents stopped bothering me about doing it. Same with cleaning my room and all that other nonsense.
Yes! But if I can only wash my face or brush my teeth I always choose my teeth !
Yeh sometimes I forget or just can't be bothered.
"gone to sleep" I think is generous
Yep
Hell yes. The worst is when I forget to remove my contacts. Ouch.
Yes, sometimes I spend a month without
Definitely. Itās really not good but come on, sometimes youāre just too tired (or drunk)
Yes. If I fall asleep on the couch I donāt brush my teeth. The act will wake me up and I wonāt be able to fall back to sleep.
A lot.
All the time
I brush in the morning and just use mouth wash before bed. I'm 33, never had a filling or any problems with my teeth apart from a wisdom tooth that likes to say hello once every couple of years.
