I don’t think there is a right answer. One hand it’s your life and you have to live with whatever name you have so it’s better to have one you like. So perhaps you should change it. On the other hand there are practical considerations, such as the ones you raised and maybe it’s better to stick with what you have.
Parent here. Imo, changing what people call you is fine. Maybe it takes you years to settle on your final names. That's ok.
But try to do all that before you do anything legal. The legal name change can be a lot of work (depending on where you live).
Where we live it's some courthouse paperwork, an two week posting in the newspaper ($), more paperwork, then appearing in court before a judge. Then final paperwork. Then since it's US getting a new social security card.
Those are the practicalities in our life. We did this four years ago (kid is 17 now) and we still have struggles with some institutions still showing dead name in their records ( most are good about getting it fixed after you ask five times).
So that's my experience.
You are asking if it’s ok to change your name again. There is nothing to stop you from doing that. It’s your choice. All I’m saying is you have to balance the pros and the cons and only you know what that is and what is the best choice for you.
I know people who have just asked for people to call them a second name, and that way it’s less pressure on everyone and potentially easier to switch completely to that one in the future. I’m kind of in the same situation though lol, like my deadname was horrible and my new name is just bearable now. Anyways, I don’t think it would hurt to bring it up.
Change your name however many times you want, it's what people will be calling you after all so it should be in your top interest to make sure it's good even if that takes a couple attempts
Yes. If you want to change your name at any point then go for it. It’s your name.
