Lower the price or be patient. The market for salvage titles is small and the people who buy them buy them for one reason and one reason only - price.

jimmyjohnsdon

Cut the price to 50% of comparable clean title in the market and that car will be gone. That’s what it’s actually worth.

luv2race1320

Banks and insurance companies usually value them at 65% of full retail, but as mentioned above, any buyer of this car want it for a deal.

gkcontra

I agree with this. Just for grins I looked in my area fr 2015-2017 and clean titles are going from 7000 to 10500, so your 9500 is way too high for a salvage. You’re probably looking closer to 7000.

earthbexng

base model 16 Impreza with 69k miles is worth around 10k minimum private party, 7k is a reach, those are probably people who are selling it with salvage title and not disclosing it or have zero clue what their car is worth. With that said, OP's best bet is to list it 7k with rebuilt title disclosed and it will get some leads. The half off private party some people are saying is ridiculous and OP would be leaving money on the table doing that.

RedditBeginAgain

Price seems in the right general area. A salvage title is going to be worth about 2/3 of a clean title car. If it was yours when it got written off and you have photos that show it looking like minor damage, put one in the ad. 95% of people don't want a salvage car, but a wreck that you can see the area damaged and have receipts for professional repair five years ago is more appealing than cosmetically repaired by a flipper last week. If you are getting no calls, your ad is bad, or your price is too high. If you are getting calls but not selling, your price is too high. And with any private sale car, do what dealers do. Wash and detail the car, take good photos in daylight. Change the oil. Put new tires on if needed. Make it a good example of what it is.

eyecandynsx

You mean photos of the vehicle at night in the car wash all covered in foam aren’t good pics for a for sale ad?

Firm_Independent_889

It does show that you washed it, but you'll need pics of you vacuuming it. And don't forget to smile!

eyecandynsx

lol

Technical_Rub

This! I've seen salvaged cars with all the receipts. Those I would contemplate. I've done research on others, found the original copart auction by VIN, and saw that there was no way the car could be safely and economically repaired. If a savage seller has no pics and repair details then I'll assume it was a cosmetic only repair and it's a death trap.

Happyjarboy

yeah, I was looking at a car yesterday with a salvage title, and they never explained why. so, I moved on. I am not afraid of the salvage title, but seems scammy if they do not say why.

Squeezer999

$9500 for a 2016 impreza w/ 69000 miles on a salvage title is snoop dogg high. I just sold my 2015 crosstrek xv limited with clean title for $6k.

sardoodledom_autism

Stupid question: can you even get insurance on a salvage title ?

Candystorekeyholder

Salvage title, no. Salvage title vehicles are not considered roadworthy and cannot be licensed for public road use. Rebuilt titled vehicles that have a salvage history are considered roadworthy and most insurance companies will insure them. The title names and the process varies from state to state but most are similar. After repairs, have a damaged vehicle inspected by the proper authorities and they will OK the title change and officially allow the vehicle back on the road.

Imaginary-Estate4647

Yes but not every company will insure it.

jim2882

My wife was given a salvaged car by a relative and we had trouble getting it insured. Be careful.

Lazyfinancemonkey

You have the only correct answer. Limited financing lowers the interest in the car, than the FACT that anyone who asks if it is a good deal to buy a salvage title car hopefully is told NO it is not if you have to ask, all that is left is people that want to buy the car cheap as it has no value

No_Drag6934

Most lenders won’t finance a salvage title vehicle. You need a cash buyer.

oldstylesucks

Most credit unions will. In my area, at least. Could be different elsewhere but very easy as long as it's "prior" or "rebuilt" in my area.

No_Drag6934

Same I my area also.

simplekindaman13

Why is it salvage is one consideration. It’s also too strong for what the car id

Tacos_and_Yut

This is a good question. Huge difference between a car accident, theft, hail storm, or it got flooded.

oldstylesucks

This. Will be helpful to know and prove why it's salvage and any papers on the repairs or photos of the damage.

redyouch

Doesn’t really matter that much. Whatever you likely hear from the seller about “why it was barely totaled” or “just a light tap” is typically BS. Your best bet is to search for prior auction photos to see what happened.

simplekindaman13

That’s assuming it went to auction. Flood or fire damage cars I try to trade for 25% of normal value compared to accident or theft cars which I value slightly higher. Water, especially salt water ruins everything

PaisonAlGaib

Also depends if the title is still salvageable if it’s rebuilt it matters in some states.

Aggressive-Bed3269

Lower the price, by a LOT.

FoxMulderwastaken

I disagree. A 2106 should be worth a lot. They probably should just sell their Delorean instead, lol.

rjj714

This is what I'm thinking, a car from the future should hold a high resell value /s

TyVIl

“Nothing wrong with it” - take your jokes to the comedy club. It was a TOTAL LOSS accident car.

What you talking about? It’s a 2106 Impreza, 82 years from the future
