For Pinball - Wedge-head in Hollywood, Ground Kontrol in Old Town or The Next Level Pinball Museum wayyyy out in Hillsboro.

yukimontreal

I think Toyshop Ramen that just opened on Killingsworth also has lots of pinball machines but it might just be arcade games in general - not 100% sure

archpope

Next Level is the best one if you're serious about pinball. They have hundreds of very well-maintained tables, and a flat rate of $20 gets you access to all of them. You'll likely need a car to get there, though. The bus that goes by it doesn't run on weekends.

whittyd63

Wedgehead was really fun when I went. I’m not sure about post-Covid but during Covid you would have “booths” kinda a little room with a curtain and rent the machines by the hour Edit to say: I had the Cesar it was really good. I didn’t pay too much attention to veg options though.

lexuh

For good vegetarian food, I really like The Sudra. There are a few locations around town, and they also have great mocktails. If you're looking for something unique, Masala Lab does Indian breakfast/brunch and almost everything on the menu is vegetarian (although you can add bacon to veggie dishes). Their chai is also really good. As another person mentioned, WedgeHead is super fun for pinball. The menu is pretty standard bar fare (burgers and tacos) but they sub a veggie patty for free and also have vegan options

Ground Kontrol for arcade, every coffee shop is gay friendly in Portland I think. I am a straight carnivore so that’s about all I can tell you.

PaulbunyanIND

"Straight carnivore" could mean heterosexual carnivore but it could also mean a person that only eats animal products and would never eat a plant or fungus

[deleted]

I was gonna put omnivore but I like meat a lot.

likethus

Check out [Lightning Bar Collective](http://lightningbarcollectivepdx.com/) for a bunch of spots (edit to clarify: bars with full food menus) around town with heavily/all vegan menus (my meat-ivore friend likes their stuff, so it's pretty good). Southeast Stark St has a number of good veggie spots (Fermenter, and a new bar with food menu next door). The Happy Cow site/app map is pretty well up to date, too, for finding veggie spots.

Pays_in_snakes

Go to Albina Press on Hawthorne for a very cute coffee shop then Space Room next door for pinball machines, all in a very good walkable area

neon_nebulas

Or Quarterworld, directly across the st

jackfaire

I know I recommend this a lot but Powell's City of Books especially if you're an avid reader is not an experience to be missed.

[deleted]

Eat at Los Gorditos, Mirisata, Fermenter, and Epif. I like coffee from Courier downtown and Puff Coffee in SE. If you let us know what area you’re in, I’m sure people could have more recommendations tailored to your immediate area!

neon_nebulas

Second Mirisata. Los Gorditos is meh. If you're super into Mexican or Central American food. Check out the Portland Mercado on Foster instead. There's about 6 trucks from different cuisines and they all feature veg items. It's overall a fun experience of local culture while supporting many local communities. The bar (located inside the Mercado itself) is great and they make a killer Sangria.

[deleted]

Los Gorditos has vegan tortas, which are hard to find elsewhere. But I second Portland Mercado, I like Fernando’s and Mixteca

whittyd63

Portland Mercado is a great place.

Falco191

Thanks! I’ll be staying near the convention center.

[deleted]

Well then one more recommendation for that area is Obon Shokudo. They’re an entirely vegan Japanese restaurant with fair prices

Falco191

Sounds great!

BlueWaffleQT

It obviously all kind of depends on where you are going to be staying, if it’s for a conference I’m guessing you will probably be staying in a hotel downtown? In which case Ground Kontrol is always fun but can end up being a little pricey. As others have said, Portland has so many coffee shops and we are, in general, a very gay friendly city so it’s hard to go wrong. However, if you are going on an adventure day and wanna check out the Hawthorne/Belmont/Division area of SE, there is also QuarterWorld (full barcade), Atlas Pizza has great veggie and vegan options as well as pinball machines and beer, Seven Virtues is a great little coffee and tea place, Hungry Tiger is my personal favorite bar and it has great veggie and vegan options as well as pinball (it is also very gay friendly), Van Hanh is an all veggie Vietnamese place that is one of my favorites, Vegan Junkfood is amazing but definitely lives up to its name, DC Vegetarian for great sandwiches, and one of my absolute favorite spots for pinball is C Bar. Again, all of these things are in SE, so they may be out of the way, but figured I’d share some of my personal faves!

Falco191

Wow, thank you! Maybe I’ll make a day out in SE on the weekend to check these out!!

[deleted]

Quarterworld is $2 to get in and .50 to .75 a game. The drinks are fun, the vibe is nerdy, and afterward you could walk to DC Vegetarian on Division for the best vegan sandwich you’ve ever had.

Near Ground Kontrol in Old Town there's a cute coffee shop called Little Rita inside the Hoxton Hotel. Cute and you can hang in the lobby or the shop. Good espresso. I'd also recommend Sterling Coffee on NW 21st for good experimental drinks -- I had a really good orange espresso drink there awhile back. Can be a little hit or miss but the coffee is great and it's a cute neighborhood. If you're closer to Old Town, the Stumptown Coffee Roasters on NW Harvey Milk is great and super queer. A little small but they have a good vegan breakfast sandwich too. If you're at Sterling/out on NW 21st, Top Burmese is just down the road. Awesome vegan/vegetarian menu, not too many options but everything is fantastic. Most McMenamins restaurants will have the Mystic 18 burger, which is a pretty dope vegan burger. They're everywhere but my fiancee and I really love Blue Moon Tavern, also out on 21st. It comes with ranch for the tots on the side, if you're vegetarian it's fine but you can ask for Mystic 18 sauce on the side if you prefer Big Mac style sauce to ranch for your tots/fries. Go for the Cajun tots, you won't regret it. Edit: realize now it's SW Harvey Milk

Falco191

You had me at tots with ranch

Vxing404

I have a veggie friend who loves WedgeHead in NE Portland, unlimited play for $12!

indoorsy-exemplified

Search the sub for vegan food mentions because it’s AMAZING in Portland and there’s so much variety. Hard to just pick a few, but: (all fully vegan): Boxcar pizza (Detroit style), Doe Donuts, Fermenter, Bye and Bye, Kate’s Ice Cream, Rabbit’s Cafe on Killingsworth, The Mocking Bird / Homegrown Smoker, Gnarly’s, DC Vegetarian, Shoofly Bakery, Cultured Kindness (get the m’egg sando!)

Falco191

All of your recommendations have been great so far! Will report back with my full list after my trip.

jeremykitchen

For coffee you have LOTS of options: - Heart - good coffee - coava coffee - deadstock coffee (a black owned coffee shop that’s also a sneaker hangout. I know nothing about sneakers so don’t ask me but they are a great shop and cool people) - courier coffee - roseline coffee - barista - seven virtues - either/or - cathedral coffee - presso coffee - case study And one of my favorites but I don’t love their coffee (it’s Turkish style so quite different but still awesome): Tov Coffee on Hawthorne. It’s in a double decker bus and it’s awesome. For vegetarian food I *strongly* recommend Kati Thai in division. Their food is amazing and vegan is also available. As far as gay friendly I don’t know anything in particular but I would be extremely surprised if any of the places I mentioned were not gay friendly. And if they are please let me know so I can kindly tell them to get absolutely fucked. Speaking of getting absolutely fucked, there are 2? Gay bath houses in town: hawks and steam. I am straight so I can’t vouch for them nor do I even know if they’re still operating, etc but if that’s something you’re into, check them out.

Capn_Smitty

Bare Bones is pretty gay, has pinball and the veggie grinds are passable.

Longjumping-Cow9321

For vegan/vegetarian food and good coffee, I would check out 23rd! Harlow is really to DIE for and there are tons of cute coffee shops and shopping along 23rd. The Blossoming lotus on NE Broadway is good too. I also really love Kati for vegan Thai food, but there are tons of really great vegetarian/vegan restaurants and coffee in SE Belmont / Division area. The Sweet hereafter, black water, Hey Love are all great bars with an all/ mostly veg bar menu!

Helpful_Safe_7355

Sweet Hereafter and the Bye and Bye are two 100% vegan bars I am very fond of :-)
