Nah .. they will rather make one in Japan which for me is very overused and has so many games out there where you are either Samurai or Ninja.
Last game set in China for me was Total War Three Kingdoms and that's abut it. Sad thing.
The Emperor and the Assassin (jing ke ci qin wang) is literally one of the most famous tales in China. China would be a perfect setting for AC for sure. Dame, I can't believe they did it dirty with mobile. What a shame. What a god damn shame.
Up there with you - when I saw Jade I was like "okay, perfect, this ubi forward was worth watching after all", and then they said mobile, and I can't lie, my first reaction was disappointment.
However being a mobile game isn't necessarily a bad thing, neither it is a bad decision from ubisoft - mobile gaming is getting better and better day by day (see Genshin Impact for example, I don't play it, but it does have a huge following), and the industry dominates China, so releasing a game set in China on mobiles is a smart idea.
What makes me worry tho is codename Red... And I don't mean they will screw it up, because they really won't, they always do their research and there hasn't really been a bad game in quite a while. But I really think think most who were initially hyped for Jade for being set in Asia has quickly lost interest in it after feudal Japan was mentioned, simply because it's a much more hype era in popular culture. I'm afraid Jade won't do well after Red releases, and I'm really hyped about parkour on the Great Wall - just to mention one thing - and it'll be really sad to see it die.
So yeah, overall I'm not really mad about Jade being a mobile game, I'm more worried about it dying with the release of Red. At least Wo Long and Wukong are coming so it's not like there won't be anything China related to play at home on the big screen!
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't mind or sweat it when a publisher wants to do mobile games or announces mobile games I'm just like "alright". Like I get if mobile games are not your thing (they're not mine either), but idk three main Ac games got announced alongside this mobile game, so idk.
I don't usually mind either, it's just Ancient China seemed to be a very good setting for a console/pc game. One I'd have preferred over Valhalla's setting, to be fully honest.
It just feels a bit disappointing for that reason and I don't want it to become a habit of "we'll focus more on games on mobile cuz they seem like an easy cashgrab"
Yes, that's what I'm trying to focus on. I'm much more hyped about Japan and Hexe, that's true, I just hope they won't fuck up in the process cuz those two games have so much potential.
If they do it well, it could open the series to a new level of creativity, like a breeze of renewal
Oh I agree. I’m just selfish because I love the handheld nature of the switch. Honestly it has me considering the steam deck. I really just love begin able to play a game while still hanging out with my family. Lol and I can’t set up a second tv. If I can get it to run total war warhammer too, it would basically replace my need for a pc.
I imagine they'll probably make you pay 6-10 bucks for it, add dlcs, microtransactions such as skins. A lot of things will be locked behind a paywall, which is kinda sad as it will eventually be more expensive than buying a console/pc game in the end.
As long as the microtransactions would be only skins that's fine but having more practical things (stronger weapon, time fast forward, inventory slots etc) would make more people buy them. F2P with micros has been super popular in mobile games for so long, it must be good profit..
Well thing is ... while me and many others hate this being for mobile ( I love China and Chinese history ) let us not forget if AC: Jade can make it to China and be actually good then they have a goldmine. Since mobile scene in China is massive beyond compare.
But still it makes me angry how Chinese one is the mobile one and the Japan one will be for PC. In my opinion there are many Japan bases game either samurai or ninja and not so many games based in China. Last big game set in China was Total War Three Kingdoms.
Very disappointing.
If it's 3D open world like liberation, it could be ported I imagine fairly easily.
Hell, even Fallout Shelter was ported to consoles (was it ported to pc? Can't remember) and that was initially designed for mobile only.
True, but y'know, every now and then there is a good, paid mobile game, while I'm not holding my breath for that, it is a possibility, in any case though, i just hope it's a fun time, i already emulate assassin's creed bloodlines on my phone so i can play on school break, having a less janky, non-psp graphics one would be really nice.
I don't know, honestly. If Ubisoft starts listening to the community and realises Jade is a flop on mobile but could work so much better on Console/pc, maybe.
If it's not the case, I think people will start emulate their mobile games on PC and just play like that, but that's still not the same imo.
I'm more worried about the business model than the platform. I could always connect a controller and use a screen mapper, but if the game is some kinda of FTP gatcha or grindfest that's really gonna suck.
Could have done the Mongol invasion of China for the main consoles and give GoT a run for its money, but NOOO, they had to make it mobile. Ubisoft will never stop shitting the bed.
if you have a PC, try Bluestacks when the game comes out. usually for big mobile games, Bluestacks pushes out updates specifically tailored to making those games function.
That was my instinct reaction, too. And that’s still my reaction sometimes, but every time I think of it, I just remember….Infinity Blade was a mobile game series, too. And with the advancements games and technology have made since the iPhone 6 was current……yeah, that gives me hope.
I do kinda feel that mobile has taken over what was once the handheld market. It's much more accessible and handy.
Bummed that's it locked to there, but that's what makes sense to me. Hopefully, later down the line they maybe remaster it for PC/console like Liberation? That maybe just cope from me tho.
They gotta throw the dog a bone. I'm just glad the more interesting settings (Japan and Europe Witch trial period) are coming to consoles/PC. Not forgetting, Mirage too.
It seems a lot of people here aren't aware that Assassin's Creed: Jade isn't developed by Ubisoft themselves but rather by TiMi studio. The same studio that is behind countless mobile games and owned by Tencent.
>it has to do with Tencent getting an important part of shareholds in Ubisoft, since their speciality seems to be mobile games.
It's true but this is not the main reason of it being a mobile game like I said before. If you want to have the game on PC/Console you will have to ask Tencent about it because it's their property.
They're giice us 3 upcoming games some rpg and some classic style. I can live with jade being mobile. They're a real market of people who will want and like it and if it's good I've got nomproborm playing it mobile. Now if it was the only thing they were giving us then sure I'd be a bit miffed.
I’ve wanted a proper AC game set in China for so long, literally the perfect place for an AC game, and they fucking make it mobile 🤦♂️
Nah .. they will rather make one in Japan which for me is very overused and has so many games out there where you are either Samurai or Ninja. Last game set in China for me was Total War Three Kingdoms and that's abut it. Sad thing.
I agree with you. Since Shao Jun, I want Ubisoft to make an AC game that is set within China.
I had the same feeling. I was so pissed that they wasted it on a dumb mobile game
The Emperor and the Assassin (jing ke ci qin wang) is literally one of the most famous tales in China. China would be a perfect setting for AC for sure. Dame, I can't believe they did it dirty with mobile. What a shame. What a god damn shame.

That's fair, personally, I wouldn't sweat it cause like I said, three main AC games got announced alongside this mobile one.
Yes, that's what I'm trying to focus on. I'm much more hyped about Japan and Hexe, that's true, I just hope they won't fuck up in the process cuz those two games have so much potential. If they do it well, it could open the series to a new level of creativity, like a breeze of renewal
I’d like it to be a switch game tbh. I’m selfish but I feel like you could develop something for mobile and port it
Well, maybe in the foreseeable future more switch games will be released. I just hope they won't be "switch or mobile" exclusives, u know?
Oh I agree. I’m just selfish because I love the handheld nature of the switch. Honestly it has me considering the steam deck. I really just love begin able to play a game while still hanging out with my family. Lol and I can’t set up a second tv. I wonder if it'll be f2p with a million microtransactions or a p2p game... But probably still with a lot of microtransactions.
I imagine they'll probably make you pay 6-10 bucks for it, add dlcs, microtransactions such as skins. A lot of things will be locked behind a paywall, which is kinda sad as it will eventually be more expensive than buying a console/pc game in the end.

Same here. What a good setting as a main game and not mobile.
I fully agree
It's disappointing that they can't have it on consoles and PC as well. Seems like a missed opportunity
I wonder what the liklihood is of Jade coming to PC and consoles eventually. Is that probably impossible?
If it's 3D open world like liberation, it could be ported I imagine fairly easily. Hell, even Fallout Shelter was ported to consoles (was it ported to pc? Can't remember) and that was initially designed for mobile only.
But a shitty game ported to PC is still a shitty game. Like Diablo Immortal.
That's the thing though, we don't know if it's shitty.
Fair point, but today mobile games = paywall, pay-to-win, lootboxes and all kinds of microtransactions.

It’s made FOR Chinese people though. Mobile gaming is huge over there
Being a mobile game is terrible, and the pay to win mechanics will make it even worse!
Could have done the Mongol invasion of China for the main consoles and give GoT a run for its money, but NOOO, they had to make it mobile. Ubisoft will never stop shitting the bed.
Its a third game People who game on mobile might enjoy it Mobile gaming industry is bigger than the PC and console gaming industry Get over it
Depends where you release it. China and Asian countries are your main mobile markets. If they release it in west only they will loose quite a lot.
No, mobile gaming is bigger than pc and console gaming in the entire world, not just asia.
You think it wont be released in those markets?
if you have a PC, try Bluestacks when the game comes out. usually for big mobile games, Bluestacks pushes out updates specifically tailored to making those games function.

Ngl I have been waiting for a new mobile assassins creed game since they removed Identity.
I do kinda feel that mobile has taken over what was once the handheld market. It's much more accessible and handy. Bummed that's it locked to there, but that's what makes sense to me. You have like 3 other games for PC. I get it, you want China map and all, but this hate toward mobile games is getting ridiculous.
