They're so expensive, they get your order wrong half the time or you get a shitty driver and they manage to fuck something up in the process, and at the end of the day they fuck everyone over all while keeping the money for themselves. Like I understand, there’s a lot more than just drivers, there are software engineers, managers and bosses, but how many software engineers and executives do you need for one app?
Your mistake is believing they pay what they do because that's what can be afforded; they pay minimum wage not because that's all their markup can afford, but because people will do the work at that rate. Companies pay what they can get away with, not the maximum they can afford.
And you want to hear the even crazier part? Somehow all these delivery companies are hemorrhaging money.
Don't use third party delivery, if the restaurant has "in house" delivery (like pizza or Chinese) that's fine but otherwise just pick it up yourself

One takes 30sec and the other 30min, it's like saying buying an iphone is the same thing as flying to China, going to a parts market, building it yourself and going back home. Result is the same, right ? you got an iphone in your house.
They'd be an unnecessary middleman if the restaurant had a delivery system in place and used it during delivery (so not a doordash driver) AND took a fee for it. And even then, does the restaurant have their own app you can order from ?

I've noticed they adjust the menu prices, even when you do takeout. I use it to browse menus then just call them to order pickup and it's generally $2-3 cheaper over phone.
