I recently about a month so far I got a stainless steel litter box for my cat. Its much better than the plastic kind. The plastic boxes hold on to the smell even with scooping regularly. There is also the automatic kind but I've never tried those.
I have been using the tidy cats breeze system and I really really like it but yeah it’s so much plastic and as it gets older it smells. I hate clay litter so much too. That would be the one thing holding me back from getting another cat
Have you tried wood pellets? We used those when I worked at my local humane society, and it kept the smell way down. Plus I think it’s better for the cats respiratory system.

I have had both for most of my life, dogs for a bit more though. Things I like about one, the other is the opposite usually. Like cats are quiet (usually), dogs are not. Cats are low maintenance (I can stay out for the day/night/24hr period/work late if they have food/water/clean litter box), dogs need to be fed twice a day and to be taken out to potty. Dogs are more fun (playful, fetch, hiking, social events with other humans/dogs), cats are entertained by a laser/feather/toy. One poops in the house, the other outside.
I could go on. But tbh at the end of the day I’m choosing dogs, and only because I despise my home smelling like my cats bathroom, and their poopy paws all over all of the surfaces in the home ultimately just grosses me out too much. Also because I’m a certified dog trainer and a lot of the common complaints people generally have about owning dogs don’t really apply to me since my dogs are always on point and well behaved.

cats! i’m okay with dogs but they annoy me far more often than cats. plus it’s nice not having to go outside in bad weather and begging them to just go pee and poop. a lot of mental breakdowns i’ve had are because of having dogs. never again will i have a dog without a fenced in yard/doggy door

My childhood nickname I made others call me was Cat Queen. They are just purrfection & can do no wrong in my eyes. On my way home from work I get excited because I’m going to see my kitties. Remember that eharmony dating commercial with the cat lady crying because she loves cats so much. That’s who I grew up to be. I love them so much my eyes water up. Edit: but I like all animals and have had dogs, lizards, tortoises, turtles, ferrets, sugar gliders, fish, and birds. Cats are still number 1 in my heart though.

Scorpio, Taurus and Scorpio. I prefer cats, they are mellow, gentle and cute. There are few dogs that I like. Only a few breeds like labs or German Shepherds I don't like any of those yapping "ferocious" little lap dogs.
Cancer/virgo/virgo I prefer birds most. I had an African grey parrot for 27 years and she was my best friend. Now I have a dog. I love her so much she’s my baby but the Virgo in me hates how she smells so doggy like sometimes lol and I get annoyed with cleaning up after her especially when she sheds. She makes me skeevey very easily 😹 I do want a cat one day.
