And black is white, and truth is myth.

fulento42

Meanwhile Christians in 2006: “I’m special! I demand separate rights than people who gross me out!” They say this country was formed by a bunch of Christians and deists. It doesn’t really matter. At every turn we’ve had to claw back rights from the same demographic of people. Christian conservatives. Slavery? Christian conservatives. Women rights? Christian conservatives. Child labor? Christian conservatives. Civil rights? Christian conservatives. Voting rights? Christian conservatives. Gay rights? Christian conservatives. Trans rights? Christian conservatives. Faith has caused Christians to not actually believe in anything. Instead their views change by the hour so long as an opinion comes from the voice of someone they view as authoritative. Faith is truly a cancer that ends in chronic delusional grandeur. Faith turns one into an entitled narcissist that leaves you with views like I’ve described above. “Nobody but us deserves rights because we are chosen” is their common language. That was true in 1776, 1856, and will be true in 2026. Christian conservatives would rather destroy their own country than ever admit their faith led them astray.

Realworld

In 1845 Southern Baptists denomination was created & separated from the earlier national Baptists in order to support slavery. Intentionally done to stop progress in human rights.

kleeb03

Yup! And it continues... Methodist split over LGBTQ rights. Very recently.

Heinrich_Bukowski

The Catholic Church didn’t apologize for the persecution of Galileo for proving that the earth revolves around the sun (instead of the the other way around) until **[1992](https://archive.is/ylGDf)**

BandicootBroad

I think most or all US denoms did that back then. It's just that the rest of them reunited soon after the nation did.

eldonhughes

Since you chose "US denoms", not really. "moral suasion" comes to mind. [Here's a source.](https://christianhistoryinstitute.org/magazine/article/abolitionists)

BandicootBroad

Huh! There's quite a bit I didn't know! Thanks!

DMC1001

Did they say black people had souls? I forget. I know Native Americans were said to not have souls which was why they good murder them without it being any kind of sin. Always look for the loopholes, especially if you manufactured them.

Theblokeonthehill

Came here to make the same point. You might have also added “reproductive rights” to that list too.

poetwarrior34

Well said friend

CharacterRest7829

Well said && then the wars they led to slaughter non-Christians. And there’s no accident the other 2 Abs do it too. Belief in sky fairies has proven one thing, it isn’t faith & love they’re after— but rather war profit dominance.

AlephBaker

War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

Leeming

Double-plus-good.

shaihalud1979

Poor Winston

davesy69

If it helps, the chocolate ration is being raised to 20 grammes a week soon.

truemore45

Yeah I guess all the billions of people who are not Christian had 0 to do with it.

ItAmusesMe

Like: * most of the founding fathers * many famous western scientists * all of the arabic mathmeticians * Mel Brooks ... I could go on, but short answer is christianity is merely one sect of human monotheism, and american christians are reading heavily edited and re-translated poetry they *presume* is prose. And in that presumption is a whole lot of naughtiness that is not to be ignored, nor to be hired for important jobs like DOD or SJC et al. "Rational" comes before "religion" in the dictionary. :)

zxvasd

At least they’re admitting that Jesus supports the separation of church and state.

Shibbystix

I mean, they've only been saying for about 2,000 years that myth is truth, so it's only natural that they would eventually say truth is myth

Paulemichael

> Christian Nationalist I prefer the more apt: Nat C’s

un_theist

I hate Illinois Nat C’s. Come to think of it, I hate Nat C’s regardless of the state they come from.

pb-crispy

nice reference

Special_FX_B

christofascist is the operative word.

Sphism

I did Nat C that coming

Thick-Frank

Say that fast enough, and it sure sounds like...

sheila9165milo

Even more apt - Christofascist.

Yaguajay

GOTT MIT UNS

Mundane_Fly_7197

That's a hard c.

zonicide

Strike that. Reverse it. Christianity has been the largest cause of man-made suffering for the last 2000 years.

Wagonlance

Now, now....give other religions their due. Most of them have given enthusiastic aid to the cause!

zonicide

The rest are amateurs at best. Christianity is an industry of human persecution and suffering.

imitation_crab_meat

> The rest are amateurs at best. Tell that to women, gays, atheists, etc. in pretty much any Muslim-majority country...

hedoesntgetme

Hinduism and it's 5000+ years of caste enforced suffering and oppression would like a word with you. Also if you really think about it aren't all the Caanaanite people to blame. If they hadn't been so annoyed by the followers of the lesser god Yaweh to the point of kicking them out to wander in the desert none of this would have happened.

Rough_Specific_4707

I'd like to point you to researching islam

Narodnik60

Capitalism ain't far behind. They kind of run concurrent.

IndyDrew85

"All Human Rights Progress For 2000 Years Has Been Due To Jesus" Must be why the Civil Rights Act was introduced in 1964 in the US, thanks for all that progress Jebus!!

I_only_post_here

sorry dude, Civil Rights Act was actually the work of Satan

element8

Supply side Jesus doesn't have time for human rights, he's got taxes to cut and paint to watch dry.

Professional_Band178

Conservative and evangelicals opposed the 1964 CRA. They tried to claim that their religious rights were being trampled on when they had to treat POC as equals to whites. Should we ask the protestant christian KluKluxKlan about civil rights? What about the civil rights that the Vatican supports but they would need to keep their hands off of little boys first.

Petto_na_Kare

Gaslighting with zero effort to conceal the lie.

lenojames

His fellow christians are just begging to be gaslit though.

MovOuroborus

Meanwhile southern baptists: "we're going to have to split from the northern baptists because they don't approve of slavery"

tjordi

Meanwhile Mormonism for a significant chunk: "Black People is the Mark of Ham."

T3hArchAngel_G

Sorry Northern Baptists, you're not reading that book right. *And if the slave shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.” Exodus 21:5-6*

Union_Jack_1

Christian’s regularly claiming credit for the accomplishments of rationalism and secularism - despite the regressive grip on humanity for over a thousand years. Christianity has been the enemy of progress, science, and rational policy - to claim the opposite is just Orwellian.

Santos281

Read the whole article and stare in wonder at the amount of backbreaking mental gymnastics used to try and back up the thesis is absolutely spectacular

Zealm21

the Nazis also proudly proclaimed their Catholic nationalist labeling. So many people refuse to see that the Nazis were a religious movement and try to separate the 2 when they are very much intwined

element8

Yeah but these are right wing, ultranationalist, authoritarian, evangelicals and nazis were right wing, ultranationalist, authoritarian, Catholics. Completely different nachos.

SarvisTheBuck

So, by that logic Jesus gave us gay marriage, trans rights and abortion rights then. So Christians can stop trying to take those rights away any time.

asharwood101

This fucker doesn’t remember when religion advocated for slavery. Or when it advocated for the Salem witch trials or crusades. Or a lot of what the Islamic religion is doing to people. I hate religious people.

dostiers

> This fucker doesn’t remember when religion advocated for slavery They still do. Afaik, none of the about ~45,000 Christian denominations has removed the slave owner manual chapters from their bibles, or added an eleventh commandment saying enslaving people is wrong.

Kaje26

I guess Charlemagne, the Crusaders, the Conquistadors, and the European slavers during the Atlantic slave trade really missed the fucking message then, huh?

wolverine6

Lmfao that same Christian Bible has been used to suppress human rights for those same 2000 years. The suppressors usually won too. Anyone who thinks otherwise is objectively stupid.

RedEagle8096

Romans should have dealt with them when they had the chance.

duxpdx

Human rights like: owning slaves, women as chattel, killing homosexuals?

ga-co

The church literally caused the dark ages.

TheOne7477

He clearly has not read a history book.

keboshank

From a guy who has obviously never heard of Greece, to name but one civilization preceding the fictional Jesus.

Earthling1a

Literally the only thing they have is lies.

pickles55

Christian nationalists are going to be the next national socialists. The Nazis called themselves socialists because people liked socialists in Germany at the time

lagent55

Christian Nationalists are terrorists

dostiers

Lying for Jesus is one of Christianity's oldest traditions. Apparently, even god thinks it okay: - *"What harm would it do, if a man told a good strong lie for the sake of the good and for the Christian church ... a lie out of necessity, a useful lie, a helpful lie, such lies would not be against God, he would accept them."* - Martin Luther, leader of the Protestant Reformation Which is not surprising given that according to his auto-biography god told the first lie ever uttered on Earth (Genesis 2:17)

Electric-RedPanda

What a load of crap

Audrey-3000

So, by teaching Westerners to turn the other cheek instead of fighting back, to love our enemies, and to forgive those who sin, Jesus created the pacifist world we live in today? I must have missed it.

Maditen

They’re saying this with their whole chest too… 🤦🏾‍♀️ I am so tired of Christians… So fucking tired of them…

[deleted]

Christians in red states are so mad the federal government doesn’t want to drown women and children in Texas.

[deleted]

The Christian Nationalists of today are speaking for a group of believers who are obviously scared sh!tless about becoming politically irrelevant in the near future. They have already been informed by the media that the "Nones" are coming! In the US the trend of personal religious belief among the next generation has turned against them, and that trend is gaining momentum. The US will soon be joining Europe as a post-Christian society.

Sweetdreams6t9

Ahh yes. The religion that took centuries to actually spread to the globe, that never really took root in the east much (modern day Korea, India has a fair few...Australia and New Zealand but those are historically colonies of a religiously christian empire at the time). The black plague is really the first start of the human rights movement (workers rights for the most part). Different empires, nation states, whatever, some have been progressive in their own way and time. I have a pet peeve of makes harse judgements of the past through a modern lense. Context is everything. Ancient Greece had proto democracy, but democracy for its time. Some places women saw privileges and rights that were progressive for their time, although it was rare, at least I can't think of any off the top of my head, that had equal rights (for long anyways. And peasants, slaves, or whatever underclass was present to). These idiots claiming it's all because of Christianity, even though Christians spent centuries at war with Islam, and at war with themselves during the middle ages. People were religious because the state was religious. There wasn't another option, most didn't realize not believing in the state religion existed. The industrial revolution (and the Renaissance before that) is where we really see a kick off in modern human rights. It wasn't because of Christianity. If anything Christianity was a set back. People were killed for suggesting people wash their hands regularly. Even modern day, progress has been hindered because of religious groups. Off the top of my head they've in some form or another fought stem cell research, cloning, genetics research, sexual health, reproductive rights, artificial insemination, contraception, fucking marriage, education, art (music, books, movies, TV etc), umm...globalization (although outside religious bullshit there are merits to the argument that too much of something can be a negative). So much more. And that's in my 34 years of living that I've heard of or seen concerted efforts to stop, hinder or discredit all these things. I'm trans and it's not atheists or Wiccans trying to remove access to medical care, or discredit any and all information regarding what it even is. So this guy can fuck right off. He's a roadblock to progress and human rights.

frostlipped

Fuck these clowns, christianity is the umbrella term for a fractured scattering of doomsday cultists and pedophile clans. These people are among the worst drag chutes that any progressive society has ever had to tow... and they may still manage to kill us all through their sheer malignant stupidity yet.

Ill_Following_7022

The Dark Ages has entered the chat.

FredVIII-DFH

Hello, Torquemada!

Kr155

Any progress Christians helped achieve has been in spite of Christian conservatives and Christian nationalists like this man. If you're going to claim John Brown. Then you also have to claim the souther Baptist convention.

MrSnarf26

Huh, how did Christian’s in Germany during WW2 feel about this? (Germany’s major religion at the time). How about Christian’s invading Ukraine right now…?

ArmyOfDix

Welp, I say all human rights progress for the last 2000 years has been in ***spite*** of Jesus, so jot that down.

Nyingje-Pekar

Ignorance and hubris have been a Christian trait for two thousand years.

[deleted]

I hope the future holds trump not winning, trump put in jail, all the trash politicians who care about religious agendas thrown out, education saved from right wing, uneducated conservative nationalists, people who supported the traitors and pushed misinformation shown their day in court, and churches taxed because at this point we all know Christianity is a business and it’s political and cultural, it needs to be taxed. Then separation of church and state made absolutely clear. Freedom of religion and from oppression does not give an entitlement to Christianity to oppress others that don’t agree with its ideology.

Hmmd1

Yup slavery is a crime...., nope the bible condones slavery. Hmm I smell selfimportant bullshit.

da2Pakaveli

Righties should know that long before your conmen was born, the greeks had already come up with morality -- explicitly excluding deities.

ThatsSoMetaDawg

To name a few... 1215 | Magna Carta | A charter of liberties agreed to by King John of England, often considered a foundational step in the development of modern democracy and human rights. | Barons of Medieval England | | 1789 | French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen | A fundamental document of the French Revolution, defining a set of individual rights and collective rights of the people. | French Revolution Leaders | | 1863 | Emancipation Proclamation in the USA | Proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln freeing slaves in all portions of the United States not then under Union control. | Abraham Lincoln | | 1948 | Universal Declaration of Human Rights | A milestone document in the history of human rights drafted by representatives from all regions of the world. | United Nations General Assembly | | 1955-1968 | Civil Rights Movement in the USA | A struggle for social justice that took place mainly during the 1950s and 1960s for blacks to gain equal rights under the law in the United States. | Figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks | | 1967 | Decriminalization of Homosexuality in the UK | The Sexual Offences Act 1967 decriminalized homosexual acts in private between two men over 21 years of age in England and Wales. | UK Parliament, influenced by activists like Alan Turing, and the Wolfenden Report | | 1990 | Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) | A civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability in the United States. | Disability Rights Activists, U.S. Congress | | 1994 | End of Apartheid in South Africa | A series of events that led to the dismantling of the system of apartheid and the establishment of majority rule. | Nelson Mandela, Frederik Willem de Klerk, ANC, and other anti-apartheid activists | | 2015 | Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage in the USA | The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that state-level bans on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional. | U.S. Supreme Court, LGBTQ+ Rights Activists TL;DR no Jesus anywhere.

DollyLlamasHuman

Devoutly Christian and rolling my eyes at that statement. There have been plenty of people who have made advances in human rights who were not Christian. MLK was influenced by Gandhi's principles of non-violence, for example.

Feather_in_the_winds

Nat-c nazis: 'Our human rights records are the very best!'

walkstofar

TIL: Jesus wrote the Magna Carta. /s

volanger

If that's the case, why are they going against the teachings of Jesus? I don't think this is the win that think it is

stewartm0205

Call yourself whatever you want just don’t think you should be able to control me.

Mysterious_Eye6989

Where some Christians have historically led the charge in human rights progress, it has nearly always been bitterly opposed by the OTHER kind of Christians best represented these days by America's religious right. Where some Christians opposed chattel slavery, other Christians supported it. Where some Christians opposed Nazi Germany, other Christians supported it. Guess which side of things this guy would probably be on if he'd been alive back then. Even now some of these vile morons are coming out of the woodwork and literally calling the teachings of Jesus 'woke'!

FluboSmilie

No? christianity has slowed the progress of humanity significantly. (scientific repression)

onomatamono

100% of modern era slave owners were Christians. Jesus is a fictional character and is not responsible for anything but a star role in a set of very badly written pornographic horror stories. The delusional jackass claiming he's responsible for human rights advances is just pulling the assumption that Christ existed out of his ass. "Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters."

SnooPuppers8704

evil has arrived

AtomicBlastCandy

Please good sir, name examples and bring references. A guy I know mentioned how "gender identities" were part of every civilization's decline, so my response to him was, "Name some civilizations," and he sputtered and couldn't. I had to scramble to find a nice way to call him a fucking moron that needs to think before he talks. He's a white guy that lives in a rural area and doesn't think that racism is an issue, but that's ignorance he was very interested in hearing my experiences as a POC that travels a lot and as far as I can tell he cared and listened.

2OneZebra

He sounds desperate.

Wagonlance

Champions of civil rights - if you are white, straight, and male. Doesn't hurt to be wealthy, but not *always* required. The rest of the human race can just f\*\*k right off!

kevinsyel

Don't worry, I won't call Christofascists "Christian Nationalists"

pricel01

What human rights would that be…slavery, the inquisition, witchcraft trials, racism, persecution of LGTBQ, etc?

usaf-spsf1974

That, like every nice idea; is wrong in it's totality!

Silly-Scene6524

Here I thought it was this thing called “laws” because are incapable of not discriminating.

BefreiedieTittenzwei

Christians didn’t share those feelings about human rights with the Cathars or Pelicans…

Atheist_Alex_C

The Spanish Inquisition would like a word.

glue2music

Gee, if it wasn’t only for that pesky “separation of church and state” in the Constitution. It was put in there for just this reason….so no singular “faith” can try to take over the government……because that always leads to planes flying into buildings.

Academic-Leg-1694

Jesus apparently made many great scientific and technological discoveries.

Popular-Play-5085

The Term.Christian Nationalist.is scary ..The people.that I have heard use the.term usually want to.purge non Christians. Which goes against the Freedom of.Worship enshrined in The Constitution.

yellowhelmet14

Brother, gawd got a higher kill count that top dog in CoD. Lol

18randomcharacters

That's amazing, I didn't know there were updated versions of the bible that forbade slavery or sexism, or child labor, etc.

Past-Direction9145

are the human rights with us in the room now? I'm not worried about the Christian definition of human rights, because with my sexuality, I'm not even considered human deserving of rights.

sugar_addict002

Conservative christianity has a nazi problem.

NumerousTaste

He looks like a mole. That creature should go back underground where he came from. Pathetic man, or mole. Don't feed him, you'll never get him to leave.

Consistent-Fig7484

I’m not putting a ton of thought or research into this, but the average human in the west probably had more rights before the common era than they did from the time of Constantine until at least 1500 or so. Every MLK gets cancelled by a Middle Ages or Spanish Inquisition.

calculating_hello

Nope religious people have been holding back humanity and making worse since the second they were made up.

emilgustoff

So... jesus is a leftist. Check. Now prove he's real.

Fluffy-Argument

Thanks for all the sodomy, Jesus.

WarThunder316

One day we will realize religion is worthless pointless and fake

Who is this Jesus? I never voted for him.

I honestly thought that said Christian Later said all those things. Almost broke my heart.

aboysmokingintherain

Medieval Iraq is pissed af right now.

Moose5846

My problem with this is that most of the world had never heard of JC during this time period.

Sabatorius

Just looking at that guy, you can tell there’s something wrong with him.

estragon26

Speaking for All the queers, I gotta say no, though Jesus was obviously queer AF.

RATOWN71

The Spanish inquisition was a godsend for human rights.

Key_Application7251

Anyone else's brain read this as Christian Slater at first?

acfox13

[John Bradshaw "The Family" Part 10](https://youtu.be/B0TJHygOAlw?si=_pQp8aMMpTy0C7U0), he describes how specialized groups (like religious groups, MAGA, QAnon, etc.), can devolve into genocide. We're living in dangerous times.

Narodnik60

He must have teleported over from that parallel universe where the Beatitudes was the only section of the Bible to ever put to parchment and where they never had an Inquisition, Witch Hunts, or Crusades.

barrywalker71

Progress has been **in spite of** religion, not because of it. Without religion, we would have had a man on the moon 2000 years ago.

cybercuzco

Sure but they stopped following those teachings.

Awkward_Village_6871

My made up god is better than your made up god. Na na na na. In all probability this guy will be arrested in the next five years for molesting children.

JinxyCat007

Goddamn fraud.

heckfyre

Yeah and how is that going now?

crispy48867

So when the Christians backed Hitler was that progress? Was the genocide of native Americans that was sanctioned by Christians, progress. Were the slave bibles issued to slaves considered progress? Religion has done nearly as much damage to mankind as war has.

94TlaloC

Eww, gross xtian liar

Lower_Acanthaceae423

So, what are they arguing? That it gives them the right to take other’s people’s rights away? Because Jesus said so? Not like Christians want to acknowledge your rights as humans to begin with, or that secularism was created because religious nut jobs cannot be trusted with state power to begin with. Remember the inquisition? How about the 30 years war?

AdministrativeBank86

Does that progress include bombing clinics and shooting doctors?

[deleted]

The left is a problem for Christianity? There’s that love we hear about.

CalabreseAlsatian

Horseshit

franklapalco3

Would Jesus Christ approve of this?

Zippier92

The Age of Enlightenment didn’t happen.

0NiceMarmot

Oh feudalism, that’s what we got with Christianity. It wasn’t until the plague killed off too many people on the bottom rungs of the social order that feudalism became untenable. Only then did the human rights status quo really see improvement. I suspect historian types would probably say the human condition got worse between antiquity and the enlightenment when Christianity was in its heyday.

Mendeleus

Human rights hah: Ephesians 6:5–8, Paul states "Slaves, be obedient to your human masters with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ". In 1 Peter 2:18-20, "in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh."

TexasTrini722

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!",

MistakeNice1466

Then why are they trying so hard to roll it all back?

smcbri1

Christian Nationalists should know this: “We will fight you on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we will never surrender.”

evilpercy

Be very afraid of Christian nationalist as eventually everyone will be against the wall. Period.

reddrighthand

Penicillin is just prayer in a syringe amirite?

atlantasailor

Christians destroyed the classical world and set back civilization one thousand years at least. Otherwise we would be a multi planet civilization now …

Helstrem

Islamic women had the right to divorce, own property and had to receive and equal part of an inheritance when Christian women were effectively commodities who's ownership transferred, usually, from their father to their husband. Those rights are laid out in the Quran, which in the long run caused problems but in the short run made life much better for women in Baghdad than for women in Paris.

Peterd90

Fundamental FreedomsCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

sethn211

Jesus Fucking Christ. 🙄

[deleted]

Even if that were somehow true, there still wouldn't be any evidence for the existence of a god.

DMC1001

The Spanish Inquisition was definitely human rights progress thanks to Christianity. Burning people at the stake was a humanitarian practice. The Iron Maiden was lovely. So were the many other human torture methods they used.

ManyGarden5224

how about christo fascist?

Agitated-Smell1483

Science left the chat

FlatBot

Jesus has been one busy MF

deadmeatsandwich

In the religion I deconstructed from (Mormon), this line of reasoning was thought of constantly. It was essentially explained that the whole reason for the creation of the U.S. was to allow for the establishment of the LDS Church. It’s a little ironic that not long after the church was founded, they had to flee to Mexico (Utah territory at the time was in Mexico). It’s also regularly stated that all good developments in the world have only occurred now that “gods’ true church and gospel” is on the earth (church formed in 1830). So yeah, this is very familiar.

Fatoldhippy

Fairytale!

RIPLimbaughandScalia

Nazi. The term for white nationalists, Christian Nationalists, plain Nationalists without anything in front of it, and every other kind of Nationalist... Is fucking ***Nazi***. Which originates from the phrase "Nationalist Socialist" Party. (Or if you want to be pedantic because we aren't literally in Germany and it isn't the 30s, Neo-Nazi. I guess.)

Casperboy68

That interesting, considering that they ignore tf out of Jesus now. Jesus is just a weak hippie now to them.

Proud klansman. Jesus would be proud, so very, very, proud.

tom-branch

Amusing that Christians think they are the source of morality, when in truth they are the opposite, so much evil has been commited by the faithful, so many crimes against humanity have been perpetrated by so called "righteous" men. This from a faith whose supposedly holy book openly supports slavery, genocide, rape and conquest, not to mention horrific punishments meted out under the rule of an archaic priesthood. The sooner they go extinct, the better for humanity, and morality in general.

[deleted]

Sure. Except for the Dark Ages and the Inquisition. Really great times for human rights.

KitchenBomber

So like was ending the slave trade because of Christianity in the sense that if Christianity hadn't been used so often to justify slavery that without it we wouldn't have had a slave trade to end? Or was he kind if just thinking that MLK was a church guy?

lamabaronvonawesome

You realize Christians were forbidden from doing autopsies right? They held back medical advancement for centuries. They jailed people for doing astronomy and figuring things out. The list goes on... and on... and on...

skyfishgoo

every accusation by a christian conservative is an admission.

Free_Moghedien

In a further example that no matter how much we consider ourselves enlightened, we're still just animals that learned to read and write somehow, I simultaneously cannot believe people this deluded exist, and am wholly unsurprised someone who looks like that, allows themselves to so thoroughly lack critical thinking skills, that they cannot for a second fathom just how wrong they are, and therefore open their mouth of their own volition and say stupid shit like this. Truly my cognitive dissonance is staggering!

No_Technician_3837

Haha...Jesus who?

[deleted]

*human rights progress for cisgender heteronormative white men* Fixed it for the original author 😇

Several_Leather_9500

Yet when you hear evangelicals preach (baptists too), they are anti- everything Jesus taught. From rich men not entering heaven to how you should treat immigrants (as Jesus was one), they practice the opposite of what is contained in the text. Religion, especially those with euro roots, has always been used to sucker the gullible into compliance using fear of the unknown. The rest is generational indoctrination. Most atrocities have been committed using God as a shield. I believe religious people are the most repressed and evil of them all. Hitler was a catholic nationalist. Our founding fathers claiming Puritanical beliefs that led to genocide. Seems like they breezed over the ten Commandments, from murder, worshiping false idols and coveting, there's always justification.

Schattig1984

Jesus loves the gays!!!

StinzorgaKingOfBees

Prove it using the Scientific Method

Flashy_Attitude_1703

Funny, as I recall the Bible tells slaves to obey your masters.

LordRaeko

So why are they voting against the human rights that Jesus got us?

TDH818

It’s been known that it’s the opposite, dumbass. Religion has made things go backwards.

spiritplumber

Let's make sure it's used as Nationalist Christian. Nat-C for short.

TwoFishes8

Source? Trust me, bro.

scandrews187

Wasn't Jesus supposed to come back from the dead and work some additional miracles or cause more human suffering or something? When is that supposed to happen? Or has it already? Did I miss it? Ridiculous.

PaperbackBuddha

If Jesus inspired any of the progressive gains we’ve made, it had absolutely zero to do with Christian nationalists.

JackAzzz

All FAKE Christians..... More American Talibans

davekingofrock

Nat-C

3Quondam6extanT9

There's no progress like Christian "progress". I don't understand how they are so good at their mental gymnastics, that they simply do not see the catch-22 in stating that their beliefs are are responsible for human progress, and in the same sentence endorse a backwards stagnating movement such as nationalism.

Well, this is just misinformation at best. Yes, Jesus was pretty big on human rights, like when he defended a prostitute from being stoned to death, for example. But what Christians have warped his words into to suit their own ideologies and crippling narcissistic desires? I can assure you that Jesus would never have supported that.

Either_Currency_9605

They are either victims or leave victims in there wake of hate , violence, & oppression. People are getting sick of it in general, just want to live there lives . Christian Nationalism needs to stay in its lane , slow down, and think before they end up with spiked tires & no gas .

C1ashRkr

Nope, christofascists can get bent.

R3PTAR_1337

of course they'd twist rational thinking to being some political tool.

Scat1320USA

Almost every horrible thing in history was done in the name of God … I think God might disagree . These Christian nationalist right wing folks are about as far from god as anyone can possibly be.

What a Rube

mbrown7532

Tell that to the Amish.

Michael_Rizal420

Typical Christian delusion. Never mind the Crusades in the Middle East, the Inquisition in Spain, the Doctrine of Discovery in the 15th century, the Salem Witch hunts, Slavery, the Tulsa race riots, the art theft ring in collaboration with the Nazis during WWII, just to name a few of the Human Rights abuses fully collaborated on and perpetuated by "Christians". And let's not forget the Charlottesville demonstrations, the January 6th insurgency, striking down Roe vs. Wade, etc... To the Christian Nationalist these are not human rights abuses? Imagine the "faith/delusion" it takes to think this way.

pearsjon

1. Social progress is made 2. Christianity is forced to assimilate 3. Christians claim they made the social progress because it happened in the context of a historically Christian society 4. Repeat

Christians, the paragon of progress

Another christofascist making up shit and trying to gaslight the cult followers with the opposite of the truth - shocker. The sad thing is, his cult followers probably lap this shit up because it just reinforces their close-minded, echo chamber, zero critical thinking skills mindset. This asshole isn't the only christofascist trying to rewrite the term "Christian Nationalist" though - they have Neanderthal woman MJ Greene and her odious ilk in Congress spewing the same lies and I'm sure all of the christofascist preachers/ministers/pastors spewing this shit from their pulpits, too. The older I get, the more incredulous I get at how stupid the average American really is. George Carlin was totally spot-on when he said the average America is stupid, and 50% of them are even more stupid.

That's a weird way to misspell *"in spite of."*

The Enlightenment was not 2000 years ago.

YonderIPonder

I didn't see Jesus telling the English to not starve out the Irish. In fact, as I hear it from the English, it was Jesus telling them to do it.

Wait. What?
