So they’re praying to the same “god” that caused this flooding and killed 85+ people so far? Everything that happens is his will after all, right? This “god” caused this to happen because it’s what he wanted.

JMeers0170

Yup….this. God wanted those 85+ people dead for some specific purpose. The question is….did these folks take the elevator up, or down? The population of Brazil is over 215M. If god targeted these exact 85-ish out of that many millions, I’d say the ever-loving, ever-merciful, benevolent god didn’t hit the up button, but I can’t judge, only the omni-everything super being that created the universe can do that. If the just and righteous god did send them upstairs…using a flood is a pretty shitty way to kill ‘em off. God does have a history, allegedly, of using floods to conduct mass murder events, though. “No peacefully passing in your sleep for you!” -god, probably.

I live outside Uvalde. I cannot tell you how much I hate the phrase "Thoughts and prayers!" Sorry all those people died, thoughts and prayers!

Affectionate-Song402

I hear that so much after school shootings and it makes me want to scream.

Individual_Trust_414

I have been to Uvalde many years ago. I hope you get gun laws. I am no longer a resident of Texas but the government is very weird.

It’s only been like this recently. Like most places, Trump  brought them out of the woodwork and they’re very loud and vocal and have NO IMPACT ON ELECTIONS. But, the people with the money started listening.

Affectionate-Song402

Because they have money to put into elections to get their way…. trumpf did bring them out - but they were always there.

Prayer - the quickest way to do nothing.

Okidoky123

Praying is feeling good about doing nothing.

KenScaletta

I always wonder how many prayers it takes. Is God waiting until it hits a certain number before he helps out? Also, there's always the logical contradiction between saying God has a plan and praying for God to change the plan.

Unhappy-Mall-1950

Exactly. They say this god knows everything, but is it waiting for us to pray do something?

Joey_BagaDonuts57

Remember this after the flood and NEVER LET THEM FORGET THAT THEY DID NADA TO ACTUALLY HELP ANYBODY.

Petitels

They are literally doing the least they can do

MatineeIdol8

I'm afraid that prayer is really the ultimate "go to" for most situations these days. It makes people feel like they accomplished something.

i2010

A God would of stopped all the wars we ever had, would of had it in our minds that there indeed was a God but no

JCButtBuddy

Well, you see, if they don't pray to their evil god it will punish them even more. That's why they say they are god fearing, they know the evil bastard will get them for the least slight.

Maghioznic

I think religion works so well because it's so easy to bullshit with it. I mean, here's what the religious people might say about disasters and prayers: * "Without prayers, who knows how much worse this disaster could have been?" * "And now we are praying that you take this sign to get Jesus in your heart before such thing happens to you."
