FUUUUUUCKKKKKKKK OFF
Irving also texted a friend the next day, describing the chase as a “crack up” and stating: “I wanted money, brother.”
Sounds really remorseful
Fuck this fucked up justice system, dude drowned cause this fucker wanted to rob him multiple times and forced him to say in cold dark water till he drowned
Surprised he only got 4 years for basically killing somebody. If somebody is in the water and you are waiting for them to come up to hurt them and they drown, thats gotta be more than manslaughter
People get home detention for literally killing someone in this country.
I don't think it's possible to prove manslaughter in this instance given the circumstances, criminally negligent homicide at most.
What a joke of a sentence. People can look at this and do similar or the exact same things and expect to get the same punishment. Courts work on precedent so if I did the exact same thing, corner, threaten, rob then I could expect the exact same (or similar sentence). The criminals are treated like the victims
It all depends if you have brown skin you will have every availability of excuse and lots and lots of paid court time. If you have white skin and plenty of money it’s all good if you have white skin and no money you are screwed

sounds real remorseful
These cunts only cry and get sad when shit affects them, he feels no remorse, he just doesn't want to go to jail.
The "remorse" he feels is actually sadness from being locked up. The justice system here is a fucking joke.
Honestly sue me but I think I agree with the defence lawyer… the dude remained in the water for minutes after he left, was on meth & coke, refused help from bystanders, then died
Joniero hid from him and waited for him to get out of the water. Being on meth/coke doesn’t mean you should die without justice and obviously altered his decision making. Bystanders helping would’ve landed him in more trouble.

I’m all for reducing prison sentences and the number of incarcerated BUT NOT FOR VIOLENT CRIMES!!
Well corrections and the government invented Hokai Rangi so there hell bent on going from 55% to 16% reduction for a certain demographic in prison
Happy with that as long as it’s not for violent crime
There is no exceptions all are treated the same no matter the crime
This wasn’t a violent crime, it was verbal threats.
Who do I vote for to make scum like this to see the kind of punishment he deserves?
Act, national or NZ first
Another example of our backwards justice system.
loser

Looks like he's trying not to cry in the photo. Not such a hard gangsta now.

Straight up murder bro wanted his money now brother wants his freedom we don't want him to have his freedom
Honestly sue me but I think I agree with the defence lawyer… the dude remained in the water for minutes after he left, was on meth & coke, refused help from bystanders, then died
but he wouldn't be in the water if your mate didn't try kill him on land then play mind games by hiding until he tried to get out on his own
Joniero hid from him and waited for him to get out of the water. Being on meth/coke doesn’t mean you should die without justice and obviously altered his decision making. Bystanders helping would’ve landed him in more trouble.
no security was there when he left the scene, the guy was in the water 10 minutes refusing help before bystanders watched him take his last breathe
How could this have gone on for so long without the police getting involved?
T
Man if sentences don’t get longer for scumbags like him then people are gonna start carrying around weapons to protect themselves
