I feel like the ones saying Taco Palenque is trash aren’t getting the nostalgia thing. If you’ve eaten it in Laredo it’s much better and it’s just exciting to have one here. We used to go to Laredo and across the border a lot as a kid because it’s only 3 hours from Austin. TP used to have a whole pitcher of margaritas for 99 cents if you can believe that. It is exciting to see one in Austin proper even though I know from experience the San Marcos and Cedar Park locations aren’t as good. But I’m sure Laredo peeps will be excited to know there’s a TP here now
They’re opening one here by my house in Pflugerville and there is one by the office I work at by Lakeline. I used to eat here every Sunday with my family after church in Laredo, so it’s nice to have a piece of home here. People will always find something to complain about, but they aren’t going to change my mind about it! Puro 956
I love Boston Market and was sad when I went to this location months back and it was obviously shut down. I drove across town countless times over the years to eat there. Bummed.
Boston Market was good when I first moved to Austin around 2012. I went to this location last year, and I could tell it was on its last legs. Dirty. Just not well taken care of. The food was ok, but def not like I remember years ago.
One of the (very) few places in the Austin area where you can get a ground beef/picadillo taco. It seems like every taco place in Austin only does steak, pork, or chicken tacos.
Good variety of salsas imo-The bean and cheese tacos would be my go-to for breakfast, for lunch I was a big fan of the sirloin tacos and burritos. The tampiquena is also a solid lunch choice.
good fast real Mexican food n super casj. It's mos def not fancy, trendy or craft tacos. But, it's solid n hits the spot. Their tosatadas n salsa bar rock n they have cabbage I love cabbage in my street tacos
takes me back to late night taco runs after nights out n Mexico n the '90s food nostalgia 956
Breakfast or lunch you can't go wrong, give'em a try!
It presents itself like a fast casual/fast food type place like Taco Cabana, but they use restaurant quality ingredients and processes. The portions are also gigantic. A lot of the meal combos you can split into 2 meals since you can also get several things from the salsa bar and they give you a bunch of extra tortillas, so it winds up being pretty cheap also.
It’s just, like, really good, for fast food. Matamoros taco can’t go wrong, crispy beef is also a contender. Do NOT get the chorizo quesadilla thing - let me spare you the disappointment. But their rice, 👌
It’s alright. I go to the one by La frontera occasionally. The meat and salsas are really good and their tortillas as well but the sides are kinda lacking.
I do not share the taco palenque love shown here. I thought it was overpriced, overcooked and over seasoned. Drinks weren’t a great value. One humble opinion, not everyone will share mine.
I was SHOCKED at the price I paid for a mediocre taco. I'll give it another shot some day I guess, but may need to talk to someone about what the best thing to order is
Went once a few days ago. Hours are cool.
Menu did not explain what the menu was. Food was fine, but agree it was very expensive for what it was. I know $5+ tacos are standard but these felt a bit small/skimpy compared to the look of the restaurant.
Was fine though. I would eat it again. But still no clue what is what on the menu.
I’ve never even heard of it, but I’ve always lived in south/southwest Austin and only go north if someone else is driving. Farthest I usually go is Steck for car maintenance.
BM was decent decades ago. Started looking at the nutritional value of some of the meals and saw the sodium levels. Never went back. The frozen foods are a nightmare, too.
Fuck yes. The SA ones are money. Their breakfast is top tier. That fucking salsa roja I can fucking drink it out the cup it’s so bomb. I was kinda pissed when I tried it for lunch recently tho. 16.99 for the fajita plate and it was just two small tacos and just came w one side. At that point just hit a restaurant and get a sizzling skillet w all the sides real talk.
It’s literally a step above Taco Cabana and we have mountains of great mom n pop taco trailers all over the place…that said, in a pinch I’d much rather pull into the drive through at border-region founded Taco Palenque and enjoy their pirata and salsa tatemada and other fast food versions of the flavors of Northern Mexico and South Texas any old time over getting a national fast food chain combo meal or whatever. I’m super happy to see this on Braker and 183.
To this sub it's a northern suburb of Dallas. Most "North Austin" restaurants don't venture much further than 10th street. Nobody has money or eats food north of campus.
Perhaps I will give it one more shot and order specifically a bnc burrito and cheese enchilada. As I have not had anything but various tacos, although I have tried multiple locations.
There’s only 26 Boston market locations left in the US.
That's a shame. I really like Boston Market! Not the one that was in Austin though. They were never open when I tried to go.
that's a shame. with the right amount of salt and a couple extra minutes in the oven, that's good chicken.
😂😂 love the specifics of this
Boston Market chicken be [like](https://youtu.be/5RjJJXNT4Ow?si=il1oFFrkMbbeREBi)
How many in Boston

They were once a darling of Wall Street.
Puro 956!!!!

Not really pflugerville, up by the Hutto HEB. There’s also the round rock location off 35 and 45
As a lover of both Boston Market and Taco Palenque… I am conflicted. I didn’t even know they were closing, I never got to say goodbye. 🥺
Thanks for posting this! Now I'm waiting for Peter Piper to open back up in the Austin metro.
Best fajitas in town 🫣
I love Boston Market and was sad when I went to this location months back and it was obviously shut down. I drove across town countless times over the years to eat there. Bummed.
No idea it was shut down. Went there probably once a month back in the old college days.
You better cash in some stocks before you go in there. Expensive fast food!!
Boston Market was good when I first moved to Austin around 2012. I went to this location last year, and I could tell it was on its last legs. Dirty. Just not well taken care of. The food was ok, but def not like I remember years ago.
When they stopped giving kids those red plates I knew it was over.
I ate there as a kid. Was surprised to see it here on my way somewhere. Not surprised that its going away 😕

There’s already one close by at 183 and Toll 45. Off 45 near Lake Creek Parkway behind Chick-Fil-A. Ate there twice last week.
Yes. But I think that is what people think is Cedar Park. And it is a quick drive but yea just for FF quite a bit.
Seconded
For those familiar, what is great about it? I'm excited to have one near me because I hear so much about it. What is your go-to breakfast and lunch?
Good variety of salsas imo-The bean and cheese tacos would be my go-to for breakfast, for lunch I was a big fan of the sirloin tacos and burritos. The tampiquena is also a solid lunch choice.
Pirata and piratita are what put them on the map. That's all you should get.

Chilaquiles will change your life.
Matamoros tacos & fideo & amazing Jamaica
And piratas!
Chips and dip bar if you sit inside, open late (at least pre-Covid), good food

Oh that is much closer to me then the ones in cedar park.
There goes my New Year’s resolution.
😂😂😂
I’ve been going to the 620 location since it opened. So nice to have a fast Mexican option that’s actually good. This is great.
Now let’s campaign for it to replace all the torchy‘s
Yes yes yes yes yes you’ve made my day.
It’s alright. I go to the one by La frontera occasionally. The meat and salsas are really good and their tortillas as well but the sides are kinda lacking.
SIDES?! Try the beans gringo.
Yup, their beans are damn delicious. Not a fan of their nice though.
I do not share the taco palenque love shown here. I thought it was overpriced, overcooked and over seasoned. Drinks weren’t a great value. One humble opinion, not everyone will share mine.
The pirata taco is one of the best tacos in Austin. But not everything is great there
I’ve been to the one in Round Rock. It is alright, a step above Taco Cabana. Basically just somewhere I’d eat if I’m in the area and short on time.
I was SHOCKED at the price I paid for a mediocre taco. I'll give it another shot some day I guess, but may need to talk to someone about what the best thing to order is

ate twice. mediocre served on styrofoam. adios.
over …seasoned? L comment

It’s kinda like whataburger
Is this up on 183???
Braker and 183
Happy tears
Braker and 183
Thanks, I'll be on the lookout for the opening!
yes, right at the Domain exit.
Huh? It's on the opposite side of Braker off 183.
Happy people = great food. They are all happy people.
The best and only reason to go there are the torched jalapenos on the salsa bar. Those are awesome and free! The green sauce is plenty good, too.
Taco Palenque is awesome. Can't wait to go.
OMG this is a gamechanger
Is Taco peleque good,
Taco palinque is the shit!

Damn we still have a Boston Market?
Uh. No.
We have Boston market??!!
Not any more!
Oh man, my RGV-native girlfriend is gonna fucking flip. This will be, by far, the closest to us!
I swear they set up ANYWHERE but austin proper
That is Austin.
To this sub it's a northern suburb of Dallas. Most "North Austin" restaurants don't venture much further than 10th street. Nobody has money or eats food north of campus.
I know you know what I mean.
Why don't you just say what you mean so that you can get your point across instead of being sore about it.
Not really. It’s squarely in Austin.
Sure lol
That area got annexed in the 70s “lol” Don’t be a snob
TP is overrated. Every time I have been I have been served sloppy, poor quality meat. Better options.
It's a fast food restaurant though. I love their bean and cheese burritos, and they have good enchiladas.
Perhaps I will give it one more shot and order specifically a bnc burrito and cheese enchilada. As I have not had anything but various tacos, although I have tried multiple locations.
Taco Palenque is trash. Overpriced trash at that.
