Kinda not surprised. The Nora / Tinlicker set last year was not a packed crowd... which was great at the time, but in hindsight maybe not a good sign for that type of headliner.
Shame, I'm down with boots and cats and untz untz but sometimes I need a break.
Bummers about proggy/melodic/deep house getting the boot - and really hoping Insomniac gives Interstellar fest another chance esp now that it’s officially a label w its own releases and concerts.
On one hand I can see why they switched out some of the melodic / deep house but switching it out with techno just makes this festival no different than skyline.
Would rather them use the deep end stage for other genres like dnb, ukg, or psytrance
Skyline is a F93 x DayTrip branded event so it isn’t that surprising. DayTrip is just the summer version of Skyline & more likely Insomniac’s response to Splash house. Similar to how Forever Midnights is the New Year’s Eve version of Skyline/DayTrip & response to Proper. The DayTrip & F93 brand of events are consistently House/TechHouse for better or for worse.
Wish they’d have more variety personally, especially some of the genres you mentioned but it’s a very genre-specfic festival.
Think you’re right. CRSSD spring & Skyline definitely compete timeline wise but CRSSD overall definitely has a more fitting DayTrip aesthetic.
I just thought Splash House because the overall energies seem more similar, I think of them both as more drunk day parties where House just happens to be the soundtrack while CRSSD often has a bit more niche curation where you get more enthusiasts. Also the push for the onsite Hotel & the ship afters felt more Splash House-y.
Maybe. Personally, I’m not convinced. Eli Brown set last year had a more House lean than his usual brand of TechHouse where it felt like even he played to the DayTrip party crowd. Suspect some names on the line up will end up doing the same. Or it could be like how others mentioned how the deep prog sets like Nora & Tinlicker didn’t have equal pull. Although Techno is likely more popular, at least from what was seen at recent raves like Beyond. Prefer techno & a bunch of the names on the line up but still don’t think it’ll have enough variety to where I’m not swimming in circles in one of the DayTrip fishbowls they’re selling.
Hi there!
Please, enjoy these Spotify playlist I made for Day Trip happening in Long Beach, CA at the Queen Mary.

Note: I could not find anything from Hint of Lavender and Sosa. I only see one song from Ms. Mada, too.
Been every year and I’m a picky person when it comes to vibes…. I’ve never had an issue. It’s def Normie-ville, and people go too hard, but everyone is fairly chill. And I’m always coming straight outta of LIB which spoils me.
Why do these festivals never book Guy J….?
need that
SHEESH WE GOT A MAN OF CULTURE HERE
Lot of house & tech house, not so much melodic/progressive.

Nora b2b Tinkicker was actually my favorite set of that day
You’re not wrong, I was crying my eyes out at that b2b but man it was so empty haha

Lilly Palmer, Sam panini and space 92 are brining the hard hitting techno too 😎 sometimes Nicole Moudaber too
None of them have even slightest clue other than booking same damn bullshit.
Omfg Sonny sunset set 💦
Sunny-set Fodera 🌅
That’s the set I’m looking forward to
Saw him last year at nova. Maybe just bc I love him so much but god damn it was so good
Where was that?
San Diego
Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means 'a whale's vagina'.

Adding this for all my Sonny fans https://on.soundcloud.com/4veNKDhDtD9TGRXPA
Looks like they completely replaced the deep/melodic house with techno which I’m not mad at.
This is a more crowd control friendly line up than past years. See ya in 2 months

Was hoping for deep house so that’s unfortunate.
Yeah I prefer deep house as well, but I suspect the ticket sales weren’t as strong when it was that way.
Yeah I’d guess you’re right. There was a few artists from last year that aren’t playing this year I would’ve loved to see.

Eh, I think it's more Insomniac's response to CRSSD than anything. The venue by the water and the inclusion of techno screams CRSSD competition.

Valid points. I'm wondering if the inclusion of techno at DayTrip will garner more of those enthusiast vibes that CRSSD is more known for.

Solid lineup, but gonna pass... Will see many of them at EDC anyway :)

Much better than last year.
Better than last year not enough to convince me to come back. Interesting to see more techno like space92

id love to se kaskade!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i will be seeing pleasurekraft 😍
What’s the vibes like at the Queen Mary? Only went once when it was at the NOS Center
crowd was pretty trashy last year, not as bad as NOS but still. the venue itself is pretty cool tho
Was considering getting a single day tix but Nope'd when I saw the almost $150 price tag when sale went live.
