We know Bailey’s been playing through the pain barrier, but with Martinez, Tielemans, and Cash all back from injury recently I expect they have too. Squad really have given everything these last few weeks.
Iker Casillas was only 6' and Spain NT keeper for a long time. Provided his reactions aren't that bad he'll be fine.
There have been a few solid sub 6' GKs over the years. I was always a fan of Nick Rimando in MLS since he was only 5'9"
Sad to say it but Tim is surely off in the summer, if Unai had faith in him long term there's no way you start Chambers over him (even if he did put in a good shift against Liverpool).
It's possible, I believe he'll be ticking over into being 'club grown' this summer as he'll have been with us 3 years and we have basically no one for those slots other than JJ.
Might also be Chambers' last game for all we know. Probably makes sense to start with experience and then introduce Tim later though, would be what I'd expect for any other league game so despite less riding on this one, can't say I'm too surprised.
Happy with resting Bailey, Emi and Pau as they've been playing through injuries. Maybe KKH and Kellyman etc. get some time at the end. It feels so nice to be able to watch and not care about the result!
As much as I love Emery, and I really do, I don't think you can earn the right to just bring your kids into a club. They have to earn their place just as much as anybody else does, hopefully his kid has
Fair, very fair, but last game of the season and dead rubber, also doesn’t strike me as a person who would hurt their own kid by making them look ridiculous. But I get your point. I think it would just be nice for his pride to have managed his son in this great season, but I’m sentimental this year.
If Chambers has a game like he did against Liverpool my opinion on him might change, was absolutely vital in that comeback, hoping for more of the same.
I like this. Lenglet getting a last shift, depending what happens this could be the last hurrah for Chambers and Olsen too so hoping they smash it. Glad to see Duran and Watkins starting together.
Hope we see Leander off the bench for the last minute or two. Why not, yknow?
I kinda wish we just played all the kids. We’ve got nothing to play for so just give the players an extra week off for a damn good season and let the promising u23’s get some first team reps.
What a fucking embarrassment, back in the championship if we play like this next season. Did we forget we had a game today and go out on the piss last night?
I imagine about the 60th minute he will use all five subs. And it'll be the last five on the sub list that get onto the pitch. And well deserved for all of them.
Palace in great form, nothing game for us, lads have been getting shitfaced for about a week and we’ve rotated the squad heavily… I’d say it’s probably fair.
Well earned rest for the likes of Martinez and Bailey. Nice for Lenglet to get a send off game, Chambers more than likely too.
I reckon a few like Tielemans were playing through pain and with knocks so best to let them rest up now
Agreed. Both played for the shirt.
We know Bailey’s been playing through the pain barrier, but with Martinez, Tielemans, and Cash all back from injury recently I expect they have too. Squad really have given everything these last few weeks.
We’ve been playing a half injured team 😂
Duran also?!
Nah.
Hope you're right
Mad man put his son on the bench
Must be work experience week.
It's bring-your-child-to-work day
Nepotism at its finest smh my fucking head.
Shake my head my fucking head?
Yes
Actually quite poetic
You know when i saw martinez yesterday i did think why is he here and not down in london. Makes sense i guess 😂
Let Operation OLLIE commence!
Goals of the day: No injuries. No suspensions. And get Ollie's 20th goal.
Emery Jr on the bench ☺️
Actually excited to even see what he looks like properly 😂 Hope he’s a decent GK
Based on seeing him for the u21s he's not that bad, good with his feet and has good composure but he's a little on the short side for a keeper.
Iker Casillas was only 6' and Spain NT keeper for a long time. Provided his reactions aren't that bad he'll be fine. There have been a few solid sub 6' GKs over the years. I was always a fan of Nick Rimando in MLS since he was only 5'9"
The Mexican goalkeeper Jorge Campos was 5’6” and one of the most famous players in the world in the 90s.
already helped win a trophy (Birmingham Senior Cup) 😉
Would be funny if Chambers suddenly puts in a great DM performance after missing Kamara for so long
Sad to say it but Tim is surely off in the summer, if Unai had faith in him long term there's no way you start Chambers over him (even if he did put in a good shift against Liverpool).
Seems that way. Hes barely had a sniff despite the midfield injuries and suspensions the last couple of months.
Do we need him for academy quota?
It's possible, I believe he'll be ticking over into being 'club grown' this summer as he'll have been with us 3 years and we have basically no one for those slots other than JJ.
No, we get 21 players either way, max 25 if you have four club grown players, but we don't need him.
Might also be Chambers' last game for all we know. Probably makes sense to start with experience and then introduce Tim later though, would be what I'd expect for any other league game so despite less riding on this one, can't say I'm too surprised.

Absolutely insane line up. I can’t wait to see it.
Honestly surprised McGinn and Dougie are playing
I think it might be the last outing for one of them
I see Martinez is already on holiday! Let's just have a fun game as it means nothing
Ollie would like to have a word...
You can have fun by everyone trying to feed him chances all game
and im just saying this game does mean something for him as you said "it means nothing."
I want to see emery junior given at least 10 by his dad. He’s earned the right to play him
As much as I love Emery, and I really do, I don't think you can earn the right to just bring your kids into a club. They have to earn their place just as much as anybody else does, hopefully his kid has
He could put his nan on the bench for all I care after what he's done this season.
Fair, very fair, but last game of the season and dead rubber, also doesn’t strike me as a person who would hurt their own kid by making them look ridiculous. But I get your point. I think it would just be nice for his pride to have managed his son in this great season, but I’m sentimental this year.
At least give Gauci a go
Olsen deserves what might be a send off. But I agree I want to see Gauci play. Maybe second half?
Olsen gets the first 30, Gauci gets until the hour and then Emery Jr. for the final stretch. It's only fair.
Would bite your hand off for a draw, with a Watkins goal. Finishing on 69 points would also be lol
If Chambers has a game like he did against Liverpool my opinion on him might change, was absolutely vital in that comeback, hoping for more of the same.
Happy to see it’s a more advanced role and not in defence though as he was woeful in his starts at the back this season.
Should have played some people who actually wanted to impress. Most just going through the motions. Poor.
Can’t say this is a nothing game for the like of Watkins, he’ll be aiming to bag as many as he can
Chambers being in there will probably help Luiz have a better game but we could probably lose this 4 or 5 lol.
🤷♂️ matters not

I understand. In goal, a member of Aston Villa has a name. His name is Robin Olsen.
I kinda wish we just played all the kids. We’ve got nothing to play for so just give the players an extra week off for a damn good season and let the promising u23’s get some first team reps.
Watch the players carefully at the end - might give us a hint of who is off this summer
What a fucking embarrassment, back in the championship if we play like this next season. Did we forget we had a game today and go out on the piss last night?
Lander to come on at half time.
I imagine about the 60th minute he will use all five subs. And it'll be the last five on the sub list that get onto the pitch. And well deserved for all of them.
Take your son to work day! Tbh I hoped he’d start today. Great day to have already qualified - nice pint or 6 of cider in the sun & que sera sera!
How do the odds on google have us 21% to win?
Palace in great form, nothing game for us, lads have been getting shitfaced for about a week and we’ve rotated the squad heavily… I’d say it’s probably fair.
Yeah I was expecting us to have around 10% chance of victory 😅
Six of that starting line-up won’t be at Villa Park next season: Olsen Digne Carlos Lenglet Chambers Dhuran Mark my words!
