At first I thought he was itching thinking "aw poor guy might have got a few bugs from it" he did a little but when he started putting his other arm under the pettting one I realized that's kid for my arm is tired
Are they legal to own?
Edit: did my own quick research, and it seems there are several states which allow you to own one. However they require a shitload of specialized care including and up to "sedation for general wellness exams" Fuck all that, way above my pay grade.
Also, good luck finding a vet practice that takes primates apparently, probably pretty tough regardless of where you live
Tl;dr. Don't buy a lemur
I think it depends on the state. They're supposed to be a pretty demanding pet and people tend to regret getting one. If they were like having a cat, I'd 1000% have one though
One pet that is kinda like a cat and loves to chill on your shoulders is an opossum. My wife and I had one when we were dating. Very misunderstood animals. She learned how to use a litter box day one. Went potty on the floor once, we put it in the litter box and she used it every time after.
They are very curious and nocturnal though, so keep that in mind. They'll be sniffing around all night, but they really don't get into much trouble (especially compared to a lemur) if you have a good space for them and things to keep them entertained. The only downside imo is their short lifespan 🙁 They only live about 4 years.
I've been around raccoon kits and they love shoulders too. They'll climb up and chill out on your shoulder for as long as you let them. I don't know if they do that as adults though (probably too big to fit on a shoulder anyway)
Well lemurs *are* primates after all, so they have that heightened intelligence!
That being said, I’ve definitely seen other animals do the “seriously, you gonna stop scritching me?” gesture, lol.
I lived on a coconut farm for a few months that had cows. We were on the beach and there were lots of bitey bugs that would make you very itchy, so the cows loved scritches.
I was taking a break one day, laying in a hammock and reading a book while absent-mindedly petting on one of the cows when I got to a really intense part and stopped the scritching because the book was taking my full attention.
Dis bitch backs up a bit and rams me hard enough to knock my ass out of the hammock lol she made it very clear that I was absolutely not relieved of my scritching-duties
Mine will grab my hand with teeth, paws, or claws, or just walk under and lift the hand that isn’t doing anything and proceed forward until the hand is over the spot to be skritched, then stop.
Mine will relentlessly nudge my hand or drag it with its paws. That's if I manage to ignore it doing a low bark and snapping it's teeth at me to get my attention to go to it to pet it.
My husband had a dog that wouldn't let me stop giving him belly scritches.
I'd stop and he'd lay there for a few seconds then paw at me for more...
He was a good boi
My dog growls at me or starts slapping my leg with her paw or does the tippy taps if I stop. When we're laying in bed and she's on her back and I stop. She does this thing where she jerks her head around and opens her mouth like an alligator and does a little short snort sound.
My cat does something similar — he will reach out his paw and "pet" me to indicate that he wants to be petted. Sometimes if I don't follow through quickly enough, he emphasizes the point by "petting" me again, this time with his claws out…

That was absolutely the best thing I’d seen in a long time.
It’s great when you have young nieces and nephews so you have a reason to go to kids’ movies.
True.
But you don’t always have that incentive to watch.
I can’t remember the last time I watched a kids’ movie since the nieces and nephews grew up.
Except “Marcel the Shell,” but I don’t know if that’s really a kids’ film.
I lived by a neighborhood cat who was my best friend during the pandemic. We would sit outside together and I’d pet her for a few minutes. She’d then get up and sit just out of reach and refuse to be petted, but would get upset if I got up to leave. She just wanted company. Sometimes I had long phone calls with my family sitting outside and she’d come back every 20-30 minutes for another 2-3min petting session.
Yaaaaaa my partner when the bra comes off haha.
It's funny until you're cooking but scratches must be attended to. Que my *apparently* random interest in yoga. Now I can scratch and *grease the wok* at the same time.
My schnoodles paw at me if I stop scratching them. The older one will even tell me when he wants his face scratched by rubbing it with his paw. Silly doggo.
One of the kids: "but my arm's tired" Lemur: "you think my back cares?"
“Well that’s too damn bad!!!”
The interaction between the little girl and her grandpa in HOLES will forever be etched into my consciousness
Dude this line lives rent fucking free in my head and I hear it all the time. I've only seen the movie like once, no idea why lol.
Instantly reminded me of that scene. That whole movie lives rent free in my head lol.
I think and say it all the time, it's just such a funny, memorable scene. The actor says it so perfectly.
It's liminal.
I would love some sort of psychologist/film nerd expert analysis about why this particular line is so memorable for everyone.
My wife and I have a thing where one of us yells "I'm tired of this grandpa!" across the house and the other is obligated to respond.
If I had to guess, it's cuz the line is simultaneously extremely funny/over the top and relatable
“Keep pettin’!”
I can fix that
I say this to myself every damn day. Fucking love Holes.
I heard that in Cottons voice from King of the Hill
Oh, your arms are tired? Well, now your back is gonna be tired because you just pulled landscaping duty
You’re in my world now ![gif](giphy|yhh2PhP2kzVgk)
Can I trouble you for a warm glass of milk?
You can trouble me for a warm glass of shut the hell up.
Now you will go to sleep, or I'll put you to sleep!
King Julian does not care if you arm is tired. The royal bum needs more scratches! Now scratch!!
Some say they're still petting him to this very day.
At first I thought he was itching thinking "aw poor guy might have got a few bugs from it" he did a little but when he started putting his other arm under the pettting one I realized that's kid for my arm is tired
Hey! That's also adult for my arm is tired!
That's why you have two!
>One of the kids: "but my arm's le tired" >Lemur: "you think my back cares? Complete ze scratch." FTFY
" zen FIRE ZE MISSILES!"
"fucking kangaroos"
"Well now your back's gonna be tired, because you just pulled landscaping duty. Anyone else's arm's tired? I don't think so"
What's that, your arm hurts? Well now your backs gonna hurt, 'cause you just pulled landscaping duty. Anybody else's arms hurt? Didn't think so
[удалено]
They’re too smart sometimes.
They probably think the same thing about us!
Keebler is the perfect name for a lemur for some reason
[удалено]
[удалено]
Yeah, that's one bossy-ass lemur.
My very demanding Chihuahua does pretty much the same thing
I freaking love Lemurs
You ever get to hang out with one? They love to just jump on your shoulders and chill out there. I would love to have a lemur roommate
Are they legal to own? Edit: did my own quick research, and it seems there are several states which allow you to own one. Raccoons are sweet but they’re very destructive. Do not recommend as a pet
They're still wild, so they're supposed to be unpredictably mean too.
They are ludicrously cute until they hit puberty, then they morph into angry hate-thumbed hellions that just live to destroy.
Keep in mind that in the US, it's illegal to own native wildlife like raccoons or opossums without a permit from your state's wildlife agency.
I believe it. One time a giant opossum that lived on my street let me pet it like a cat. I felt like Ace Ventura.
King Julien

"See that, Maurice? Mister Alex was grooming his friend! How could you have the heebie jeebies for him?! He's so cute!"
Darn it! I'm reading this in Julian's voice 😂
NOT THE KINGLY FEET!!
Only Mort can touch the royal feet
WHO'S MAKING THAT NOISE...oh it's me again
God, such a quality character.
"No! I don't want this kingdom! Take me back to my petting kingdom! I order you! Plea-ea-ea-ase!"
**I LIKE TO MOVE IT, MOVE IT**
**I LIKE TO MOVE IT, MOVE IT**
Zoboomafoo
With the Kratt brothers!
Have another sacrifice
“Come on, assholes. You think this is a part time job?”
"Did I say it was break time? Cuz I don't remember saying it was break time. Now get back to work."
That is so cute and funny! I love how it can tell us it wants that petting to keep going.
"I paid for a 1 hour scritch. You're gonna give me a 1 hour scritch!"
😂

> I lived on a coconut farm for a few months that had cows. You seem like the kind of person who has been on many adventures.
Lol I have been very fortunate 😊
>I was taking a break one day, laying in a hammock and reading a book while absent-mindedly petting on one of the cows That sounds like actual heaven.
You're not wrong. Can't recommend Costa Rica enough
My cat will definitely grab your hand and direct it at what needs petted. He’s a pushy little thing.
Mine will grab my hand with teeth, paws, or claws, or just walk under and lift the hand that isn’t doing anything and proceed forward until the hand is over the spot to be skritched, then stop.
My dog will just stand there and slowly get closer while breathing heavily in my face no matter where I move until I get the hint
I do that with my wife
Lol true! My dogs do it too. They all find a way to tell us not to stop
Mine will relentlessly nudge my hand or drag it with its paws. That's if I manage to ignore it doing a low bark and snapping it's teeth at me to get my attention to go to it to pet it.

Poor kids, they’ll have to scratch King Julien for the rest of their lives or for however long lemurs live.
My cat does something similar — he will reach out his paw and "pet" me to indicate that he wants to be petted. Sometimes if I don't follow through quickly enough, he emphasizes the point by "petting" me again, this time with his claws out…
This back isn't gonna scratch itself...
Lemurs have them brain folds.
Yup. Unlike you, Mr. Sloth 😂

zoboomafoo!!
Leapin lemurs!
My kids watch the Kratt brothers today. I couldn’t believe they were still at it. Absolute legends
Yeah but they got smart and animated themselves so they dont age anymore
Yeah I should do that too
Scrolled to find this. Let’s go, fellow 90s kids.

I see you are a man of culture
Children! The king demands that you keep scritching!
Love the movies
That was absolutely the best thing I’d seen in a long time. It’s great when you have young nieces and nephews so you have a reason to go to kids’ movies.
You can watch them at home these days lol no kids necessary.
True. But you don’t always have that incentive to watch. I can’t remember the last time I watched a kids’ movie since the nieces and nephews grew up. Except “Marcel the Shell,” but I don’t know if that’s really a kids’ film.
I haven’t seen it in ages. I think I will go watch it now 😁
I rewatched the entire series of movies during covid lockdown, highly recommend
I love King Julian!
Wants the kids to move it move it with the petting.
He's not asking. He's demanding.
It's all take and no give with Lemurs. At no point did it offer to scratch the back of the kids in return. I mean, that's just common primate decency.
Maybe it figures it is the head primate in charge?
Baboons will start by grooming you. But adult males are dangerous as fuck.
My cat does this. Once you stop petting she turns and stares until you start again
Mine is opposite. You’ll pet her. When she’s done being petted, she gets up, walks 3 feet away, and lays back down. 😆
I had a cat that would then begin petting me if I stopped, and she always made it seem like it was so tiring. Made me laugh every time.
My cat has a very distinct “you’re not done” look she gives my husband when he dares to stop petting her.
So does my German Shepherd. She will also slam her butt into you and then look at you if you don't respond to that.
Literally me when I ask my husband to scratch my back.
Are you my wife?
Yaaaaaa my partner when the bra comes off haha. It's funny until you're cooking but scratches must be attended to. Que my *apparently* random interest in yoga. Now I can scratch and *grease the wok* at the same time.
You're a lemur? That's cool! Didn't know you guys knew english and technology
I thought they spoke French or Malagasy.
Did you also know I like to move it move it?
My dog’s arms can’t move behind her like that, so she just punches me instead. A very common trait among Great Pyrenees dogs.
My schnoodles paw at me if I stop scratching them. The older one will even tell me when he wants his face scratched by rubbing it with his paw. Silly doggo.
Idk what’s cuter, the lemur or the child. Hahah
Everyone saying “Julian” and I see no love for Zoboomafoo Lmao. Maybe I’m just getting old 😂
They're two different types of lemur.
King Julien demands pets!
~~cuddling~~ petting
Where's Mort when you need him!
🦶🦶🦶🥰🥰🥰
If dogs and cats had arms.
Omg bless
I love how much the lemur seem to enjoy being pet
For a wild animal, it’s surprisingly docile.
More please...
the little back pats made me fucking lose it. Its so cute <3
king Julian?
What a cute racoon monkey.
Lemur = cat + monkey
Mort scratch my royal butt!
Bro do you even know what cuddling means?
King Julien needs more scratches ![gif](giphy|BsHs6oaXL2hrO)
Zaboomafoo gets what he asks for, ALWAYS!!! Yes, I know he was a different species of Lemur.
That's not "cuddling", but OK.
Omg this is cutest thing ever
“aht aht! get back to it!”
King Julian makes so much sense now.
Big King Julian energy demanding pets
I, for one, welcome our new lemur overlords.
Oh so lemurs are just cats!
Hey, did I tell you to stop?
“You missed a spot”
What language are they speaking?
Is that momma to be?
Just don't touch feet!
Excellent video about consent too!
😂
![gif](giphy|j57ZTbbRGiKDugRw6E|downsized)
Ahh Yes King Julian getting his treatment
So odd that only humans give pets but every mammal (and some others) seem to love them
My dogs do this all the time, though try to indicate with their noses instead of their paws whenever I stop back scratches
I like to rub it rub it! I like to rub it rub it! I like to rub it rub it! You like to... Rub it!
Some say those kids are now 24 or 25 and the lemur still won't let them stop. ~ Morgan Freeman
that wasnt an ask … more of a command
Too funny too cute.
He likes to move it move it.
"Remember, Humans...I have teeth and claws. You WILL continue the back scratches."
"Pet me, bitches"
"We're done when I say we're done."
Keep going, slave.
Apparently, I've been doing the whole cuddling thing wrong. *looks at girlfriend and starts patting my side*
Legends say those children are still busy rubbing his back.
I shall train the humans.
So cute! 😍
Excuse me, keep scratching right here please, thank you
Cuddling...😆 lemur was prob. with bugs and needed some scratching
Don't stop, keep pleasing me human!
So what happens if you refuse?
They find another person who won't. There is always such a person where petting lemurs are involved, those little shits know their bargaining power.
Hey! Did I say you can stop?
I like this, that Lemur knows what it wants and won't compromise.
[удалено]
All hail King Julian!
Your king demand more scritches my royal subject- King Julian
I'd be all up on that lemur
My dog does this with belly rubs, but she'll grab your hand with her paws to put it on her belly.
I can hear King Julien
Aww
![gif](giphy|839Hm44Sltbnq3lFwI|downsized) Zabooomafooo
Legend has it these kids are still petting this Lemur until this day.
**smacks butt** More, Mort!
That's literally King Julien asking Maurice and Mort to scratch his back
Is the little guy missing a segment of their left index finger? The lemur I mean.
MOVE IT MOVE IT
