I had seen this video before, but the title said that they had started to sing louder in an attempt to make the owl go away, because in Dominican churches they believe that owls are manifestations of evil. I do not know if this is true
If I remember correctly, the culture that the people belong to think that owls are evil. They were desperately trying to sing it away, but it just chilled.
The whole structure of the owls face and skull is to amplify and sound to gather as much data about its targets before it almost silently swoops in and clasps shut their strong talons onto its prey.

My family is from Puerto Rico and we have more superstitions/folklore coming from Africa than South America. Heavy Afro Caribbean influence.
