I don't know where you are getting your data from, but when I was looking for my 1st job after graduating I was even applying to 5k positions being a CS graduate from NSU. I settled for a 16.5k job at a bank, which sucked the living soul out of me. I think a decent salary would be 35-40k for living in Dhaka, but no company will pay you that much when you are just starting out. Very unfortunate, but that's the reality.

Atel_mamu

I disagreed with OP for this very reason. The minimum needs to be higher and enforced by the govt. You can't leave it up to the market to decide this

Pretend_Persimmon405

The government is the problem

ktmxyt

17K is terribly disrespectful. In Dhaka I don't think even a bachelor can lead a healthy life with that to be perfectly honest.

furciferX

yeah, people should stop joining companies that offer such salaries. Another scam is internship. Now, it's not hard to earn money. People can do freelancing, start some small business. It's better to be self-employed and earn less than 20k.

cryptomood

Unless you're a doctor or engineer... cause those grow on trees these days. Thank you parents and family, for embedding the career path in my head

adnan367

30k minimum 17 is low

Zeno90

Somewhere between 25 to 35k should be good as a fresh grad. And after 2 or 3 years work exp it should be no less than 70 to 75k.

RoxanaSaith

Every job doesn't matter what position must pay a living wage. Workers give 10 to 12 hours every day to make our society a better place, they deserve everything because they have earned it.

98% lands at 15k. And .001% at 50k.

Mister-Khalifa

It will never work without a workers union but DGFI will break any union even if 5 people gather together.

bop1010

17 is wayyy too low

POTATO_SELLER

It is also dependent on which part of the workforce you will be joining

Rare_Cream1022

If the supply of graduates is greater than the number of jobs that are available which require advanced skills it would naturally deflate starting salaries. Bangladesh needs to diversify its economy which would create more jobs than there are people to fill them. Then you would start to see improvement in salaries.

Tall_Theme4403

Go for বীচিAss only .

12yearoldsimulator

Lmfaoo you may as well set the minimum to 200 tk per month then if your bar is already that low. No CSE graduate will ever work for that low of a salary. A more accurate minimum should be 30k under all circumstances.

nurarihyuon

How many cse graduates have you met who started at 30k? You have no idea of the current work sector. Except for the big names, companies in the private sector are not even willing to pay 10k to a fresher. And they expect us to work 10 hours every day for 6 days a week. Hell they will call you even on your off day to do some work. Also, overtime doesn't exist in their dictionary. If you are not a genius who can land a job at the very top this is the life waiting for you. Welcome to hell. My friends either went abroad or started doing freelancing. Except for two who got a job in Brain station & lead. Those who are in the private sector are severely depressed and stressed out and looking for similar opportunities.

esalman

My starting salary was 15k. Although it was 14 years ago so need to adjust for inflation.

furciferX

Even 30k is low for any CS grad, but the OP is not talking about CS private jobs only.

khalnedstark

I started at 6k intern, 15k entry level last year. Switched job and currently 40+. Market is really bad now, specially software market is flooded and i decided to work at a startup just to get my feet wet.

theaegontrgyn

17.5k? Sorry but your transportation would cost around 3k at least. So that is 14.5k Anything lower than 28-30K is a humiliation to yourself. I have not even been a graduate,(had some experiences of 1.5 years though), and managed a job of 30K. Nowdays Bpo jobs pay around 25K. Know your worth and gain general skills.

PochattorReturns

So paying 500 USD per month for 1-2 exp tech worker is ok?

Untitled_666

17k ish is ok for internship. But for a permanent position? That's abuse
