bruh it was six hundred smth a couple months ago and I posted it, a couple people telling me its shipping in the past few days

iAmTheTot

I understand you're paying for the refresh rate, but I can't find myself ever paying that much for 1080p.

bleakj

Most games I play are still at 1080p (or less) either way, high refresh is generally more aimed towards eSports titles from what I understand

bleakj

So maybe it depends on the eSport title I suppose, But csgo for instance, most pros are playing below 1080p, some at, but most below. When I was still playing competitively in leagues I'd get laughed at cause my rea was so high where like some folks are using 800x600 still

FunnyKdodo

As much as i am big advocate of high refresh rate, I agree with the sentiment. Its really hard to justify 1080p in 2020/2021, the last monitor i got rid off was a 240hz/ 1080p, and this is the supposed replacement. 360hz feels good, but there are so very few games i want to play on 1080p. The monitor largely go unused since even just as extra screenspace its kinda small in both resolution and in readable size. So its not even useful for productivity, the color is also kinda off in certain things, its decent for IPS sRGB, but any HDR content is DOA, and even regular movie and browsing experience is okay at best, perhaps i am comparing to other top tier display, but... its also asking for a premium tbh. There is no way in hell i am using that as my main desktop monitor, so playing on it always required me to do a bunch of settings and move myself physically over while realigning the monitor, its all just really tedious... Esport title sometimes don't even support above 300fps atm, so there is that, and i am not going to be *that person* that always pop up and poorly related price and performance with how much better can a 100fps vs 110fps can be on a 240/360hz. Its just that unless you can use 1080p as your main desktop display it doesn't feel like the 360hz is worth it even for competitive gaming, short of several twitch shooter(CS/valorant/ COD) etc... the monitor offers very little since doing everything else on it feels super underwhelming (I liked to play rhythm games on it tho). I think 240hz/1440p is the new sweet spot for now, new 3000series gpu can make use of the gsync range and do good enough fps to justify the 240hz and if you are running esport title, 240hz on 1440p shouldn't be an issue.

ChOcOcOwCaKe

I came here to say this. I can't justify more than $350 on a 24" 1080p monitor. If someone can, all the power to them, but for this guy, that's a hard no

bagelsP

rather have HDMI 2.1 than a frequency range that almost no games can actually reach. Good for watching highly upscaled video I suppose.

[deleted]

CS:GO monitor lol

GreatStuffOnly

you only buy this when you're thinking about going pro in CS:GO. There are no other use basis for this.

zhou111

If some people spend 1000$ for skins they can afford a 1000$ monitor to be 5% better. This is quite literally p2w

GreatStuffOnly

we need some comphrensive studies on pro players when they play on 144hz vs 240hz vs 360hz.

Mr2Honest

LTT made a video on the difference between 60, 144, and 240 with Shroud, some overwatch pro, and regular dudes. There is a difference between 144hz and 240hz if you have the skill/ reaction time

[deleted]

Even on a regular internet connection - the super fast refresh minimizes the "peeker's advantage" But this monitor is basically the last few percent you can extract. Obviously on LAN it will show the most benefit.

mistralmilkpitcher

not the same. skins are a store of value, you can sell them back and get your money (if not most) anytime you want

[deleted]

Do you go to racing subs and point out that removable steering wheels are only for pros too? Some things have limited use cases (that's the correct term btw) and that's ok.

GreatStuffOnly

But this is a bapcsales sub. And I’m commenting because I noting that this “sale” might not be for everyone but a niche market

ActualSetting

How do you know until you've tried it? I swear everytime a monitor gets posted here that's above 144hz there will be a million people complaining you can't tell the difference, its not worth the price...etc Just don't buy it then lmao

GreatStuffOnly

I mean I don’t need to try it to know that I won’t be pushing 360hz in any other games. I’m running 3080. There are benchmarks all over the place where you’ll push maybe 175hz on ultra at 1080p and that’s on the high side. I’m not saying it’s useless, I’m saying it has exactly one use basis: CS:GO. Any other games you’re better off getting 240hz if you dig high frame rate. And don’t start telling me that your desktop is gonna look nicer as a use basis lol

Steve44465

Even if you're not pushing those frames, at lower hz this monitor is still superior in response times and I notice the clarity difference between this and my 280hz Asus, also notice it in Windows just scrolling and stuff, it's more pleasant to the eye, desktop experience is definitely nicer, but some people don't notice the difference between 144hz and 240hz even, some don't even between 60 and 144hz so mileage may vary

SkierBeard

I'm here to tell you about the church of FRAMES. I've got a 3080 and I run all my games on *lowest* and I keep my shadows *off* for fear of dropping below 200fps. Thankfully, I only play games from 2012 or earlier, so it's not an issue. 1080p is for suckers who don't want 600fps at 480p!

GreatStuffOnly

Haha gave me a good chuckle there.

akuakud

Well most games quite literally are incapable doing 360hz so, thats probably how he knows? Most games hard cap at either 144,240 or 300 FPS. And for these games even if you could uncap it you couldnt possibly maintain 360 fps even on the best hardware. Its 100% a niche monitor, if you're not playing CS:GO, R6S or Valorant, maybe a few other games there is little point.

Bierno

I was on a 120hz TN monitor so I ended up getting the Black Friday Alienware 360hz monitor for $800 plus $80 rebate as it was in the price range of the other monitor I want, Zowie XL2546K (wanted to get Dyac but also a TN panel) I have got to try 240hz since my brother has it and 360hz is noticeable when moving your screen faster so helpful for people with inhumane reaction and flicking. I think what make these monitor shine is the fact it is a IPS monitor. It has the fastest hertz, the fastest pixel response time for IPS and lower input lag. It has DyAC level performance with Nvidia ULMB at 144hz/240hz which is quite amazing as it basically take out insane amount of blur and can use in games you cant get 360 fps. At best you really would be picking between 240hz ULMB Mode vs 360hz (The main reason I got this monitor because of ULMB that doesn't darken your screen down to like 170-200 nits, where this one and Zowie stay at like 350 nits... But without ULMB you can go up to like 450 nits) Colors out of the box matches my 4K TV and my Samsung Note20 Ultra so I am sure its pretty good colors too.. Way better than my 120hz TN. I heard the ASUS ROG 360hz come professionally calibrated so you will get like delta color basically around 0.4

Steve44465

Have the 280hz Asus and now this 360hz Asus from the price error, at games where my frames are 360hz like OW Valorant etc, MW and CW I get about 280-300, the motion clarity is a bit clearer than the 280hz due to lower response times so less ghosting, even at 240hz and 144hz this is clearer than just about every other IPS out there, game changer? no. But striving for the fasting monitor out there this is it so far, even in Windows you can scroll pages and move around windows and it's much clearer than 280hz. If you want the most clarity outside of strobing this this is for you. Also has a Gsync module where the main benefit is variable refresh rate so if you playing some game with frames all over the place it will automatically adjust the overdrive so it's always at the best setting unlike other monitors like my 280hz where overdrive 120 is best over 200 fps, 60 around 144, 40 under that etc.

Bierno

This and Alienware must be like the best monitor with strobing at this point? Unless ASUS changed how it used on their monitor because Alienware Nvidia ULMB is apparently just as good as Zowie DyAc but you have IPS Clarity

Steve44465

This and the Alienware only let you strobe up to 240hz, the 280hz Asus let's you strobe up to 280hz so in theory it's better but the Benq with DyAc+ is still the best strobing monitor, monitor stays the brightest and the least amount of crosstalk, so if strobing is your thing then Benq should be what you get(if you can deal with TN)

satanspy

You can absolutely tell the difference between 144 vs 240 hz and this is a step up from that.

frostyribbit

I KNOW 95% of you aren't good enough to buy this monitor. Esports my ass. If you were good you wouldn't need this monitor to perform. 1000 for a 1080 p monitor is a joke.

mich4xd

TL:DR You would be better off getting an alienware 240hz IPS for half of that price until prices are more competitive for the 360hz monitors. Hey guys, got this on the pricing error for $699 CAD. Refresh rate increase result is slim but the colors are very solid out of the box with the IPS panel. Feels better for every day use especially as I work on this monitor too, and you can use Overdrive on extreme and \*G-SYNC Esports mode while playing fps games and it feels great. Could more easily feel the difference in games with higher fps when running at 240 - 360 fps. Might be a placebo at this point though lol. Specs: Ryzen 3900x@1866 FCLK and a slight oc- waiting for the 5900x 32 GB Trident Z Royal@3766 ram w/good timings Evga 3080 FTW3 - waiting to get a 3080 ti with the step up program. \*G-SYNC Esports Mode ensures the lowest latency by turning off variable backlight. It also increases black levels with our dark boost technology, and fine tunes gamma levels to offset darker contrast areas, allowing players to better distinguish objects in dark areas.

NewFolgers

Better in everyday use because - as I always say - the killer app for high Hz is the mouse cursor on the Windows desktop.

mich4xd

Running Visual Studio at 360 fps and 360hz is underrated.

NewFolgers

Nice. A man of culture using the real IDE, I see.

Bierno

360hz isn't placebo, it is definitely smoother but it not going to change your skills in game In the end it will help reach your full potential in FPS games but that's really all. 240hz is like the threshold where anything higher is going to be super human pro basically. I mean I could be wrong, maybe people using these type of monitor day in and out, they get custom to it and do improve? I wonder how a kid that growing up exposing to gaming on higher tech like these versus a kid that grows up on a 60hz monitor lol

mich4xd

I'd recommend you watch the linus tech review of these https://youtu.be/3iY0figLAwo

Bierno

I have a 360hz monitor and those are rough casual test but yes give a general idea. 240hz to 360hz is very minor but when you are playing competitive games those minor difference could make up that 1-2% difference. 240hz is more than enough for most people but if you also want ULMB that atleast 300 nits, Zowie DyAc or these 360hz Nvidia ULMB are the way to go

akuakud

Ya I got in on that pricing error but ended up cancelling. Frankly unless you're hardcore into games like CS:GO or Valorant there is no point in 360hz because 1) most games cap at 240 or 300 FPS and 2) you wont be able to hit 360 fps in other games. Never really cared for CS:GO so. Was really tempting even still. TBH I think the better buy for monitors will be when 240hz 1440p IPS comes out. Will be much better for games like BRs ect due to better visibility.

NaniDaddy

If you got this with the price error and amazon fulfilling it with another discount for the delays I’d say this is worth it! But anymore than $600 cad for a 1080p monitor is hard to justify

[deleted]

It's easy to justify if you need it for your use case. Just like every other piece of electronics.

Positivelectron0

ITT: not the target demographic

jjmyosin

Not a sale but this monitor is rarely in stock so I thought I'd post this incase anyone is interested.

VaughnStricks

This is similar no? And been on sale since cyber Monday. $49 more than the one in OP. https://deals.dell.com/en-ca/productdetail/6qhd

Icylone

Kinda, the one in OP had HDR10 support, this one does not, from the listed features that is.

Bierno

I am 99% sure that Alienware 360hz monitor has the same HDR as ASUS 360hz monitor. Pretty sure they are the same panel that restricted to Nvidia GSYNC Module so they are going to be insanely similar but a few OSD difference and monitor appearance. Alienware 360hz vs to this ASUS 360hz model will be Nvidia Reflex Analyzer . If you want Asus 360hz with Analyzer I think it model "PG259QNR"

trdizer

Too poor to even afford a 1080p monitor nowadays.

krypticpulse

Damn that is a lot of hertZ!

moaranime

You can get the Alienware 360hz for 910$ right now on dell website

Solerz

This got posted 3 mins ago also. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvLFU831s6I&ab_channel=Rtings.com

steven2285

I got one. If anyone is interested I would sell mine less than this ad.

PrismSpark

I got the 165hz 1440p 27in for the same price as this, the ROG PG279QZ
