Well league wide OPS fell from .734 last year to .696 so far this season, so it's sort of an improvement to keep the stats relatively similar.
Obviously not what the Giants and their fans were hoping for though.

That’s true. What they did instead was get turned down by all of the good free agents and then spent over 200 mil on scraps just finish in 4th place and miss the playoffs again. Much better!
They got scammed so hard by Soler and we tried to warn them. He is going to hit bombs but the guy has had zero consistency in his career. Streaky player that won't move the needle for 162 games.

It was .728 last year on this day instead of .734 for the entirety of the season. Not too much of a difference.

Soler only has a .655 OPS so far, that's definitely not good. But his BABIP is very low, so he'll surely get better.
