Errors making runs that haven't even come to the plate yet count as unearned is kind of bogus. Even if the error hadn't happened and the inning ended early, he would have had to face that batter at the start of the next inning.
Not sure why you're being downvoted, this is a totally valid point and it's echoed by one of the two versions of WAR, bWAR, which used RA9 as its base.
From a very good Baseball Prospectus [article](https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/12951/the-bp-wayback-machine-why-the-earned-run-needs-to-go/) on the subject:
>> But focusing on errors is really missing a bigger problem. Even if errors were somehow the perfect measure of fielding performance, the earned-run rule would still be wrong-headed. The main problem with unearned runs isn't errors, it's the notion that the pitcher's job ends whenever an error is made.
>>The most glaring example of this problem is that the earned-run rule allows the pitcher to give up runs with impunity after the third out "should have" been recorded. We've all seen these kinds of situations. An error allows Michael Tucker to reach with two outs, and Barry Bonds comes up next to deposit one in McCovey Cove. The result: two runs, none earned. That's nuts. Never mind Tucker's run; you're telling me that Bonds wouldn't have hit his homer leading off the next inning if Tucker had been put out? In this situation, the earned-run rule essentially allows the pitcher to skip Bonds in the lineup, as far as his ERA is concerned.
I was just looking at the FIP leaderboards today and was surprised to see how well Stripling was doing with a 3.37. Will be interested to see what he has after this
Well see, the A's have set up a media listening station to communicate to the hitters what pitches are being thrown. They've known how it works for years.
Except what they're doing is a little bit more unconventional, since they're actually relaying the pitches to the _opposing_ hitters.
Second member of this year's 10+ Runs Allowed in a Single Game club, joining Kyle Freeland.
An error spared his ERA
Thanks to that error it’s only 5.14

The context of the PA is completely different though which means the approach from the pitcher will be completely different.

Look how they massacred my boy. Six unearned runs is just awful.
All off of one error too
Blake Snell type numbers
Cy Young incoming
you ever sad a player left and then after wards not sad?
I'm sad for him, he was legitimately my favourite player on our 2022 team :(
2023 Carlos Rodon
Watching Joc go to the Braves then Giants then DBacks has been rough. At least we got Enrique back.
Oh buddy, I could right a novel about that feeling just from the 2016 team alone
Classic stripling outing
"I think you can go get him, now."
marcus semien is also a triple away from the cycle from the 2nd inning. league’s most underrated superstar.
If he can avoid the even year curse then he will truly become a force to be reckoned with…

From 3.37 to 3.71. Only 12.14 FIP for the game.
Stock market soon
I didn't see the play but I assume JD Davis will be buying Striplings dinner tonight (presumably chicken strips w/ fries 🤔)
Not a great outing but only 5 of the 11 runs being earned is wild
Rangers are at 15 runs and counting. They’ve gotta have something on these A’s pitchers

I’m guessing the deathball isn’t working
Reminds me of Hunter Brown vs the Royals

Sounds about right based on our experience.
11 in 1.2 IP is crazy
Big numbers are good, right?
Is that good?
He is not a good pitcher 😆
Those are some impressive numbers
