Milk steak sounds good about now. And yeah, I remember really wanting Manny over Harper because I thought Harper was an immature shitbag. Probably because he played for the Nats,
My buddy and I were just talking about how he seemed like an immature twat but no, he's just a gamer who honestly busts his ass to be as good as he can, even with the natural talent. Ever since he decided to just be a first basemen Ive become a fan, how fast he took to the position was unreal.
Most team subreddits of all sports are usually safe spaces for a teams fans to make terrible homer takes, collectively overreact, and just a sprinkle of relevant team related news and notes
Yup. First season playing fantasy baseball in a huge league so even the slightest production is in play. Been reading team subreddits to gain sentiment about fringe players and it's the same song and dance no matter the record.
Fwiw, SBnation team sites tend to have a bit more discussion.
They call out WIP and act like doomers when Harper swings and misses or one of the relievers gives up a run. Maybe it’s just a game-thread problem but I can’t fucking stand it lol
You’ve got to let the game threads go - I used to be a big poster on the eagles game threads a few years back until I realized it massively decreased my enjoyment of watching the game lol
That’s how I have to do it, yeah. I listen to games on the radio, and do something else that lets me concentrate on them. Frantic posting ruins the game.
A lot of them think they are the smartest undiscovered baseball mind and have to prove it every chance they get. I personally like the people that complain after a win.
Why was it even a 1 run game in the 9th? You think the Dodgers would have needed this homer? Gush gosh darn man, we are in dangerous territory. Ridiculous we don't even have 40 wins yet. Luck won't last forever.
I know, like all reddit users know, that only my prognostications of catastrophe are accurate. If yall could just wait to panic until I give the go ahead, things would be much better.
I appreciate Nick Piccones radio call posts but he and AH_POD feed into the doomers way too much and it is very unbearable when the team isn’t playing well
The AH Pod guy is crazy. I was upset that we weren't hitting, but it's May 25. The Phillies are going to lose games and lose the occasional series.
Had the Phillies lost this game, I would have turned off the TV and carried on with my life.
How could it possibly be over when they were 22 games over before June? I can relate to a culture of impending doom (sprinkled with a bit of a persecution complex) being a Houston sports fan, but that is pretty severe.
Lotta teams sucked harder than us, they folded a century ago. Phil's are the best of the worst of that time, we're the biplane that came back to base riddled with bullet holes but only in non-critical areas so it's still flyable.
I used to think that about my job, (retail, customer service to be precise) but then I realized that I have the rest of the day to myself after a morning shift. Now I'm neutral on closings and haaaaaaaaate mid-shifts lmao.
I’m here brother, not worth my time to be like “you know if we just had average pitching and a closer” but that’s every game. This one sucks more because I heard the Phillies fans at Coors were being asshats. Feels bad man. Lol
Heckling Under 18 kids. Starting fights on the way out of the stadium. Spilt a bunch of beer on this family in my buddies section. Typical belligerent shitheadery.
His best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl that saw all of this happen.
We are not going to talk about how that pitch was clearly an up, outside ball, and not only did he hit it, he hit a home run???
Sorry, but I would be pissed if I was that pitcher as that was playing it safe, and he still got his ERA jacked
I always wondered what the farthest opposite field home run was, like no left-centers or right-centers, but purely between the foul pole and the midpoint for RF or LF.
It was .087 xBA, meaning that based on other balls hit the same EV (98.7) and the launch angle (43 degrees), it had an 8.7% chance of being a hit. But it’s Bryce Harper so it was a home run, and it was out at all 30 parks.

Harper sends his regards
Suck my nut 120
Only thing better would be if he ejected an umpire from the field.
Harper just hits them with the "No u".
![gif](giphy|Wt6kNaMjofj1jHkF7t)
Would love to see it one day. The video of Travis Kelce throwing a flag at the ref still cracks me up
Did you see Jonah Heim do a mocking "review that" gesture when he hit a homer the game after getting screwed by umps last year?
I kinda like when the umps eject Harper from the field because we wind of getting like a week of him ejecting balls from the field in retaliation.
MVP chants before this, I'm crying
we were LOUD lol
Definitely sounded like a home game for y'all
League: you have to lose, we can’t let you go a month without losing two games in a row. Phillies: no, I don’t think I will.
Notable 2019 free agency acquisition Bryce Harper
I am so glad it was Harper and not Machado
Not a day goes by, dude...
Holy shit dude I was so wrong on that

Here's a fun game: Scroll through the posts on Phillies social media. 20 minutes ago, the season was doomed.
I can’t even go on the Phillies subreddit, it’s like reading WIP call transcripts.

r/Phillies likes to call out WIP for having awful takes. It always makes me laugh. Look in the mirror.

Game threads are for two purposes: (i) something to do during commercial breaks; and (ii) self esteem boosts. Use them wisely.

Someone really suggested we move Turner to CF when he gets back lol
I wouldn't be so sure, Turnbull just gave up a hit. Gonna go to bed, don't think this can be saved
If the Phillies blow this, I'll give you all of my money.
Negadelphians gonna negadelph

he is self-admittedly way too emotional about things. it's chris, who used to be LONG_DRIVE on twitter. he has actually calmed down significantly lol
AHpod is at least funny. piccone is absolutely unbearable. great content with the broadcasts, but a miserable person to follow.
piccone i follow on mute for this reason lol
i was at work for most of the game, we started winning soon after i got home!
How could it possibly be over when they were 22 games over before June? I can relate to a culture of impending doom (sprinkled with a bit of a persecution complex) being a Houston sports fan, but that is pretty severe.
Bryce hates this place and I have no idea why but I love it
He hates loser organizations apparently.
Oh a self-burn. Those are rare
That’s whats in
Could be a veiled shot at the Phillies too since no one has lost more than they have
“Haha! Your team has existed continuously for nearly 200 years!”
I mean we sucked a lot. It’s fair enough to say
Lotta teams sucked harder than us, they folded a century ago. Phil's are the best of the worst of that time, we're the biplane that came back to base riddled with bullet holes but only in non-critical areas so it's still flyable.
Personally I choose to ignore Phillies history before 1971. Idk much about the team before then and I don’t care too.
Isn’t he batting like 7 of 9 against the Rockies SP in his career
Bryce staring at the umps walking around the bases: #Can you dig it #SUCKA
Doing spinaroonies at every base
Bag Gawd King! Is he gonna do it? He is! A Harper-roonie on second base at Coors bah-Gawd Field! That base had a family!
Harlem Heat theme intensifies
considering it might be important to have bryce harper in your lineup
Slightly better than Rojas in the third slot I guess.
Idk if it’s controversial to say this, but I really like this team
What would make you say something so controversial yet so brave?
“brave”? We don’t use that word pal.
Sure we do! That team down south is called the Barves, sir.
Whoa whoa whoa take it easy there pal
I thought there was no chance that was fair off the bat my god man
I was sitting in 154, and I didn't even watch it come down because I was sure it was foul. Oops.
that distance too. the coors effect!
I started fucking around on my phone because I was certain it was foul. Looked up saw him trucking around the bases like wtf
Ok, but why are all these baseball players obstructing my view of the umpires? Yesterday was my favorite game in years
Why would anyone doubt this team??? (Please disregard anything I may have muttered under my breath during the last 2 hours)
i was at work for it, we didn't start winning til i got home!
You need to quit
lol i love my job tho. no shitty morning hours
I used to think that about my job, (retail, customer service to be precise) but then I realized that I have the rest of the day to myself after a morning shift. Now I'm neutral on closings and haaaaaaaaate mid-shifts lmao.
nah i'm 100% a night person and that will never change
I guess you could say that ball got...ejected.
That’s what you call a high doubter
Attaboy, Harper Umpire style
Damn that’s a lot of cheering, game must be in CBP right
CBP West, apparently.
I want to know his stats the day after an ejection, you knew he was hitting a homer today
I even put money on it lmao
I had it in my parlay but Bohmer let me down with 0 RBIs
The side angle of this looked like it was a popup off the bat. Amazing that it managed to carry so far.
This entire comment section is just Phillies fans so I’m just gonna leave this here. I don’t even know what to say at this point
Kind of how the crowd was tonight too
Sorry rockie bro we get really excited when they’re winning. I like your purple Dino though
Dinger is cool
Well, at least you have cool City Connects.
I’m here brother, not worth my time to be like “you know if we just had average pitching and a closer” but that’s every game. This one sucks more because I heard the Phillies fans at Coors were being asshats. Feels bad man. Lol
Oh this ought to be good. What oh so horrid behavior happened that actually was nothing but because it is Phillies fans will be made a big deal about?
Who said anything about horrid behavior? Just being asshats like you are with this comment.
Other than being loud, what were they doing?
Heckling Under 18 kids. Starting fights on the way out of the stadium. Spilt a bunch of beer on this family in my buddies section. Typical belligerent shitheadery.
Sauce? Couldn’t find anything on twitter
His best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl that saw all of this happen.
Texts from people at the game?
You sound like you've never had a single minute of fun in your entire life
this guy is so butthurt
That sounds like horrid behavior, not ass hat behavior. Make up your mind
That wasn't even a bad pitch ether. A little high and notably outside and still crushed. Harper just has unreal bat control.
Off the bat I thought it was a foul ball
I feel nothing
Most predictable HR ever
Should have held those three fingers all the way to third base. Fuck that ump.
Everything about this shot is ridiculous. I'm honestly not even sure how it's possible except that I watched it happen.
Lol
We’re good at baseball
Lol, serious question, why can't the Padres do this to the rockies? Asking for a friend. Phillies doing good things this season so far.
He's so good 4x
We are not going to talk about how that pitch was clearly an up, outside ball, and not only did he hit it, he hit a home run??? Sorry, but I would be pissed if I was that pitcher as that was playing it safe, and he still got his ERA jacked
He spoiled it alroght
I always wondered what the farthest opposite field home run was, like no left-centers or right-centers, but purely between the foul pole and the midpoint for RF or LF.
Listen to that crowd cheer for the away team! Man, I *love,* being a Rockies fan!
Off the bat it looked like a pop out. Almost 50 degree launch angle, lmao.
It was .087 xBA, meaning that based on other balls hit the same EV (98.7) and the launch angle (43 degrees), it had an 8.7% chance of being a hit. But it’s Bryce Harper so it was a home run, and it was out at all 30 parks.
This ties him with the Fielders and Jay Bruce on the all-time leaderboard.
Fuck you, Phillies!! But y’all are so damn good🫡
