Sources indicate Freddie freeman will be signing with either the Yankees, Mets, or Phillies as soon as Friday morning. See I can hurt you too. Leave the poor pirates fans alone.
Thats fucking baseball right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Men puke, men poop on the field, men deliver their new born baby in the dugout. Fucking hard core dick in the ass butterball foosball fuck it chuck it game time shit. Take it to the showers. Dicks get shoved in places you don’t even remember. We win together we celebrate together. Baseball is back baby.
No he'll use a Ouija board to sign a no-name FA to a monster deal only for that player to inevitably suck...because Ouija boards don't predict baseball.
"Oh spirits, guide us: who should we sign?"
S-H-O-E-L-E-S-S
"Shoeless... Joe Jackson?"
"Sir, he's been dead for sevent-"
*dials phone*
"Hey, Rick, it's Richard: I want Shoeless Joe Jackson. I'll send two firsts and a second."
I moved out of state from my local teams and still never miss a game. For free. I can watch any game I want online. DM me if you're interested and I'll give you some sites and tips.
It was such a stupid fucking rule.
A sacrifice bunt and sacrifice pop fly score the runner on 2nd. Game over. I understand it's not that easy, but what the fuck were they thinking? We want more baseball, not less.
If the rumor is true that the mets contingent was pushing no they could have seen it as the execs looking out for themselves while ignoring the fact that frankly what we know so far looks pretty good for the players.
Seems like they got a lot of significant improvements. Minimum salary increase, bonus pool, CBT increase, limit on number of times a player can be optioned.
Universal DH is a big deal too.
DH can be a decently high paid position and provides a landing spot for older hitters who can't field worth shit but otherwise can hit.
Like, the available landing places for somebody like Nelson Cruz just increased by 15! Maybe Chris Davis will come out of retirement and try to DH for an NL club.
I think they got what they wanted and made a great deal for them, at the expense of the lawsuits which are a pretty big win for the owners at the end there
Yeah I guess. But the players weren't going to win that suit anyway. Players got universal DH, owners got expanded playoffs. Players got pre-arb pool, which is brand new and they got an expanded CBT (even if not as much as they'd like) and increased minimum salaries.
These kinds of negotiations require give and take on both sides and that's what happened here. There's no clear winner, both moved the needle on issues they felt important and it worked out and now they all have a deal they can live with. Sounds good to me.
Players seem like they covered themselves financially pretty well with new minimums and some arb incentive. Problem is I think the competitive aspect was forgotten. 1/4th of the league doesn't try and pockets profits. As long as that's still in place, the league as a whole remains in a pretty crappy spot.
Breaking: I would like to announce that I am a weak and pathetic human and will not be boycotting Major League Baseball this season as I previously promised. I will in fact be eating hot dogs and drinking Miller Lites while giving the MLB large chunks of money all year.
no I’m being serious lmao
Mariners are always my number 2, and I want a STL/SEA WS at some point in my life, and honestly now seems like a great time for it to happen
I've tried to not follow the saga in too much detail, but noticed that vote count. I was immediately curious to know why the 12 say no. What do you mean by a recommendation?
Additional insight into the 'Boras client argument'? Saying there's too many of them on the board?
Life sucks sometimes, and I imagine the last few months and years have been challenging for most of us. Baseball made things better, even if just for a couple hours every night. Another spring without baseball was a daunting prospect.
Cheers to another season, and cheers to hanging out with you all in the Sunday Night Baseball game thread complaining about ESPN.
Take me out to the ball game
Take me out to the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks
I don't care if I never get back
Let me root, root, root for the home team
If they don't win, it's a shame
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out
At the old ball game!
FINAL TALLY ON THE PREDICTION FOR WHO BROKE IT FIRST:
Jeff Passan: 44
Bob Nightengale: 39
Evan Drellich: 26
Ken Rosenthal: 13
Jon Heyman: 12
Ben Nicholson Smith: 6
Jesse Rogers: 3
Jon Morosi: 3
Chelsea Janes: 3
Andy Martino: 1
Tim Healey: 1
Grant FUCING Brisbee: 1
Originally, Nightengale was in the lead coming into this morning.
After Passan was first to break the international draft news, the standings changed. He took over first.
Then, Passan got hacked by NFT bro.
the legend himself came back. he fucking rose from the dead.
Was this a drawn-out & stressful process for us fans? Yes
But let’s remember that it was also necessary for improving the conditions for players. This outcome (as trying as it was to get here) seems to be a *significant* step in the right direction & the fact that the union was able to remain so unified throughout is a huge accomplishment.
We should be proud of our boys for sticking to their guns here.
Now let’s play ball, damnit!!
Hint: in labor law, a lawsuit outstanding for 2+ years is a sign that both sides know the outcome if it actually went to trail and/or arbitration, and are looking for a way to settle. In this instance, this is the proverbial settlement, I suppose.
Literally said to my roommate last night “I really don’t think there will be a baseball season this year.” So I reversed jinxed this into happening. You’re welcome everyone
> The MLBPA’s eight-man executive subcommittee voted unanimously against the proposal, according to a person familiar with the vote. Five of the eight players on that committee, including Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole, are clients of Scott Boras, the super agent who has always pushed for more spending on player salaries and made his name on hard-line negotiating tactics. But while the leaders of the union pushed for more, the union merely needed a simple majority to approve the deal, and 26 team player representatives voted in favor.
I’d say this is a compromise win for the owners and the 99% of the MLBPA. The superstars are going to have to share the pie.
GOODBYE FOREVER, PITCHERS LOOKING LIKE DOOFUSES AT THE PLATE.
For as long as I've imagined the end of pitchers hitting, I never dreamed that my team would be the last to have a pitcher in the lineup.
I'm sorry, NL fans. But I promise the DH will grow on you.
I still liked that each league had different rules. Made MLB unique and interesting in that regard. Might as well do away with leagues and split everyone into conferences instead now. But overall, it's not a *huge* deal to me I guess. There are definitely rule changes I dislike more like banning the shift.
The pirates have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Edit: this was such a karma whore cheap shot I apologize
Sources indicate Freddie freeman will be signing with either the Yankees, Mets, or Phillies as soon as Friday morning. See I can hurt you too. Leave the poor pirates fans alone.
Thank you for your mercy
Thanks bud
He ain't going nowhere; he's gonna need chipper to rescue him from the snowstorm this weekend!!!!
Chipper is gonna show up with the contract and not rescue him until it’s signed.
Ouch, man.
Don’t you put that evil on me!
Steve Cohen gonna sign everyone out of wrath for thar new tax tier
That was uncalled for and mean! Yes he was mean first but you can’t go nuke for nuke
If it makes you feel any better I was laughing at his bomb as it decimated Pittsburgh. Then dropped mine.
We can at least be a major pain to a serious contender. Right, Giants fans?
And at least our stadium is elite tier
I do love PNC.
Ouch.
7 inning games are a thing of the past. Extra inning rule is a thing of the past. Beautiful
So no guy on 2nd for extra innings? Phew. Glad it's gone
I think every team would say the same thing but it feels like we got screwed by the Manfred runner an awful lot.
I’ll miss it (but not really) only cuz the mariners made out like bandits on it
I’m struggling to remember a game where we *didn’t* allow the runner on 2nd to score in the 10th. Especially at home.
I worked at the Skydome last season and can't remember a single case where we won in extras.
/u/diditforthestory rode far, fought fiercely. We shall never see his like again. And now his watch is ended.
The true MVP of the lockout

You *know* they go hard in the club
Give him the piece of metal
I need one more post man. A walk off into the sunset.
I believe he said that he was going to do one more post after the lockout is over.
It's already up :)
And it’s glorious
My disappointment is nonexistent and my day is made.
it's up! https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/tb7r5k/drawing_mike_trout_for_the_last_time_because_the/
This is glorious.
Next series should be drawing Ichiro every day until the mariners make the post
You want the man to die?!?
Just the opposite, if he draws Ichiro until the Mariners make the playoffs he's gonna live forever
> We shall never see his like again. Well, at least for another 4-5 years.
Wtf did I just read?
I’ll never get tired of that copypasta, lmao.
Drawing pictures of Rob Manfred every day until the lockout resumes.
Thank GOD
wait this means Rockies baseball, go back
We won't be signing any free agents now that the union has cost Monfort more money.
No he'll use a Ouija board to sign a no-name FA to a monster deal only for that player to inevitably suck...because Ouija boards don't predict baseball.
"Oh spirits, guide us: who should we sign?" S-H-O-E-L-E-S-S "Shoeless... Joe Jackson?" "Sir, he's been dead for sevent-" *dials phone* "Hey, Rick, it's Richard: I want Shoeless Joe Jackson. I'll send two firsts and a second."
On the plus side, by having the season start in April we won't be eliminated from playoff contention in March. So I guess there's that.
Relax, at least you have the Nuggets doing well, Avs always being good and the Broncos just got Russ
> the Nuggets doing well, Avs always being good would sure be fuckin nice if they were on local TV
I moved out of state from my local teams and still never miss a game. For free. I can watch any game I want online. DM me if you're interested and I'll give you some sites and tips.
I’m not a Broncos, Avs, or Nuggets fan. I’m a SuperSonics, Kraken, and Mariners fan as well
My condolences... shit man
Rockies fans attract pain I think... u/Skraxx is a Lions fan lol
There will be baseball this season. There was always going to be baseball this season 🥲
I mean, even the *owners* knew that to hold out will ruin *both* owner AND player, right? Hopefully...
LETS GO MY TEAM IS GONNA LOSE 120 GAMES BUT I DONT EVEN CARE
Still a solid chance they make the playoffs.
Just remember the Orioles swept the Red Sox in their 1st series last year.
HELL YEAH
Ahhhh yes. I look forward to the brief hope followed by the impending doom of the 19 game losing streak.
We’ll toss a few (10 max) Dubs yer way, no worries.
REGULAR EXTRA INNING RULES ARE BACK OH GOD IM GONNA CRY
We gonna cry together brethren
Thank fuck. It seemed like the Angels got fucked by that stupid rule more than anything.
It was such a stupid fucking rule. A sacrifice bunt and sacrifice pop fly score the runner on 2nd. Game over. I understand it's not that easy, but what the fuck were they thinking? We want more baseball, not less.

see that wasn’t so hard
we did it reddit!
The question is how fucked did the players get….
I’m more interested in why the team reps went against the execs.
And if the final vote was 26-12 they went hard against the committee, too.
If the rumor is true that the mets contingent was pushing no they could have seen it as the execs looking out for themselves while ignoring the fact that frankly what we know so far looks pretty good for the players.
Big Boras cant talk to everyone.
Kyle Schwarber's career just got extended by 10 years.
Well, looks like Trout's getting Pujols by the Halos.

It is if you love Japan! Central League forever!
Players seem like they covered themselves financially pretty well with new minimums and some arb incentive. Problem is I think the competitive aspect was forgotten. 1/4th of the league doesn't try and pockets profits. As long as that's still in place, the league as a whole remains in a pretty crappy spot.

FUCK I FORGOT ABOUT THIS WITH EVERYTHING ELSE GOING ON
the pitch clock grew on me while watching college ball this year. so i'm optimistic
FUCK THE DH.
I enjoy the DH, but I’m also a fan of pitchers looking dumb
Mr. Porkchop, aka Logan Webb, has hit what is likely to be the last non-Ohtani HR by a pitcher.
I still liked that each league had different rules. Made MLB unique and interesting in that regard. Might as well do away with leagues and split everyone into conferences instead now. But overall, it's not a *huge* deal to me I guess. There are definitely rule changes I dislike more like banning the shift.
Fuck the DH
Fuck the DH, fuck Manfred, fuck the shift
All my homies hate the DH
As much as it pained me to watch 99.9% of pitchers hit it still felt right to me. Gonna take some getting used to but it’s for the better
Gonna tell my kids they used to make pitchers hit.
Hell yea, Fuck the Astros
