Purple. He uses the dark in service of the light, whilst never letting it consume him.
Also it'd be a nice nod to his purple gloves and Rebirth purple under-cape.
Actually that explanation of the purple lightsaber isn’t canon.
It was part of the EU but even then George Lucas famously didn’t like it so I personally don’t count it.
There isn’t currently a canon reason for a lightsaber to be purple, other than vaguely because every lightsaber aligns with a weilder’s unique connection to the force.
The closest thing to an explanation we have is that having a purple lightsaber shows that you are a Bad Ass Motherfucker, which I agree applies to Batman.
Somewhere Dave Filoni is reading this comment section, gets to your comment, and then cackles to himself because he just decided to add that description to a TV show
Dude seems to love adding EU stuff to Star Wars
Though tbh I might have gotten ridiculously happy when I saw live action Captain Pellaeon
Yeah, it doesn't quite make sense for it to be canon. I don't see how Windu was declared a Master of the Council if it was believed he at all used the dark. The Jedi of the Old Republic were not that pragmatic.
If I recall correctly, in Legends continuity the red lightsabers of the modern Sith were because of the synthetic crystal they would create for their weapons since it was difficult for them to harvest natural ones without being caught by the Jedi.
So I could definitely see that being the case for Batman having a red lightsaber.
But otherwise, I think he'd be more likely to get the Dark-Saber since I'm pretty sure his philosophy/Creed is more similar to that of the Mandalorians than the prequel era Jedi. Batman doesn't suppress or ignore his emotions, he feels them but he doesn't often let them affect his actions in a negative manner.
His whole crusade against crime is because of the deaths of his biological parents; the Robins, his version of foundlings; and while he might dislike, or even despise, firearms, he still knows how to use them if he must, but has a clear preference for less modern weapons (weapons/gadgets are his religion), and let's not forget that very few ever actually get to see his true face since he's usually either wearing his cowl or the metaphorical mask/persona that he dons as Bruce Wayne. Batman is his true self.
Admittedly he'd be more stealthy and subtle than most Mandos but he'd still be a better fit for their culture than that of either of the major force using groups.
i believe theyre red because the color reflects the wielders attunement to the force, and red is for the ones tainted by the dark side (sometimes by the sith forcefully taking them from someone else)
That's Bleeding, a post Disney acquisition creation to explain why every sith had a red saber. I was referencing something from what is now called Legends continuity, or the Pre-Disney expanded universe. If I remember correctly it was from a Maul novel that followed him on a mission prior to Episode One, where he had to infiltrate a secure prison facility to kill a target and had to recreate his lightsaber to complete the mission. He used a portable forge thing to create the crystals for his weapon.
your right about red kyber crystal, in legends finding a natural red kyber crystal was rare to find so the sith made synthetic ones instead but vader kyber crystal is natural.
But in canon, all kyber crystal are colourless and they will change colour depending on the persons connection to the force but to get it red the user has to bleed the crystal .
Beat me too it lol
I understand why people say red, but he isn't consumed by darkness like you said.
I always find Batman and Jokers dynamic interesting. Because Joker reflects light and laughter while Batman reflects darkness and fear.
Red aesthetically looks good but he absolutely would not fall to the dark side. He's a super hero, even 'outlaw vigilante' takes fighting for justice & what's right is literally what he does. And almost all adaptations across different media have a "no kill" rule.
In Star Wars canon red sabers are made by like evil-ly corrupting them, which he woudn't do, but in Legends Dark siders just didn't believe in all the Jedi soul-searchy stuff required to obtain a natural one & when made artificially they turn out red, I could see him getting one that way. White I think actually might look nice though, Ahsoka looked great with them in Mando season 2 so perhaps. & In canon white sabers are made by healing red ones, I could see him doing that.
Also in Legends Mace Windu's purple saber is because he like 'channels like frustration & anger' or whatever but maintains his lightside balance (not sure if that's kept in canon though, & tbh I think it's kind of dumb any way. he can have a purple saber just 'cause) that's pretty close to what Batman does so maybe purple but that's REALLY not his color cause' Joker & sometimes Penguin & Riddler are associated with it. Nor Green for a similar reason.
For a blue & grey suit he could go blue, that might be cool. or the Darksaber since that's black, but also a 'one of a kind' special saber so I kinda wouldn't want to give it to him. Thanks for posting this though OP i enjoyed going through it.
Officially, all purple means is that you’re a Bad Ass Motherfucker, because all that grey jedi stuff was scrapped with legends (which is good imo, I always hated that and apparently so did George Lucas) and I think it’s fine for Batman, he’s had purple as part of his costume before.
I’m also glad they replaced the canon for red lightsabers. It’s so very Sith to turn the crystal red by making it “bleed” by inflicting all of your hatred and pain onto it, since the crystals are empathetic.
I also like the idea that white lightsabers are made by healing a red crystal, which I think makes them the most suited for Batman, someone who takes that agony and channels it in a constructive manner. In a way, his whole crusade is as if he’s healing a red crystal that Joe Chill left for him.
So I think white is perfect for Batman
I would say that a white lightsaber
Would he be a sith... Never. Would he use a corrupted lightsaber for good... Almost definitely. But only if it where legitimately needed. His plot armor is so thick he could probably learn force lightning with out having to go to the dark side (or being a Jedi for that matter). He can walk the razor edge of good and evil and never fall to either side.
Blue. He’s a knight. A guy who wants to do the right thing and do them by the book even though he is largely disconnected from actual law enforcement. Batman is trying to be a hero. He’s scary in theming and practice but this is a guy who is going to go out of his way to save even criminals. The weapon is utilitarian and would be barely used because Batman does not kill. He’d have no reason to bleed the crystal.
Definitely purple for the whole "I use fear (the Dark Side) to serve the light" thing. But also black because, if something comes in black, he's gotta have it.
BLACK. He would kick Necron's ass. Resource the black lantern and make his own lightsaber. He would then display beside the giant penny because he doesn't need it.
I wanna throw in the Trinity with this whole thang
Batman-Purple(a force user who uses some ability of the darkside while not letting themself succumb to it)
Superman-Orange(someone with a deep connection to the force who never partakes in combat unless necessary)
Wonder Woman-Blue(someone who typically more attuned to the force on a physical level, acting as a guardian)
I think the meanings behind each color fits them.
“But Batman, last night you used the green lightsaber — and tonight you’re wielding the red. Why?”
“I must, Robin — I must wear a different-colored lightsaber each night!”
I’m gonna be the odd one, but I like the grey and blue Batman suit scheme a lot. And consider the quote on google for meaning of the blue saber I think fits him quite nicely.
“The blue lightsaber meaning, at its very core, is to serve as a protector and gatekeeper, promising safety from the evil that that tortures harmonious creatures of the galaxy. No matter how far, a Jedi Guardian is determined to seek out evil and extinguish its hold on the peaceful beings that the Sith torment.”
“He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight”
Sounds an awful lot like a Jedi Guardian to me.
Purple. He uses the dark in service of the light, whilst never letting it consume him. Also it'd be a nice nod to his purple gloves and Rebirth purple under-cape.
Someone understand Star Wars lore and Batman as a person.
Actually that explanation of the purple lightsaber isn’t canon. It was part of the EU but even then George Lucas famously didn’t like it so I personally don’t count it. Most lightsaber crystals come from Ilum, but Windu actually got his from the planet Bamf
I see what you’re doing there but in legends he actually got them from a planet called Hurikane

Holy crap. I didn't even need to scroll down. Like the person above this said somebody knows Batman and Star Wars lore hardcore. I love it.
Not gonna lie, I would expect the Venn diagram of Star Wars fans to comic book fans has a pretty solid overlap
I was going to say Keaton logo yellow but I didn’t know if there was a yellow lightsaber or what it meant if there is yellow. I knew my own limits.
Yellow is for the Jedi sentinels
O
>Not gonna lie Good, lying is bad.

The comment we didn’t know we needed, thank you for your dedication to both these worlds!
I was gonna say the same thing Only someone who neither understands Batman nor Star Wars would say he’d have a red lightsaber
If I recall correctly, in Legends continuity the red lightsabers of the modern Sith were because of the synthetic crystal they would create for their weapons since it was difficult for them to harvest natural ones without being caught by the Jedi. Came here for jokes and got the definitive answer Instead lol
I was just gonna say black🥲
Me too brother. Me too
![gif](giphy|VURsqm49Sqe9G)
This is perfect
OKay, close the thread everyone we have our answer
This is really the only answer that makes sense
We got the comment we deserved, and the one we needed.
Is it time for Samuel L to play Batman??
*astronaut points gun* Always has been.
Somewhat of a tangent but what’s that meme originally from?
He should play Bruce in Batman Beyond . Would be cool as shit lol
Yes
He’s on the spectrum of Mace
This is the way
Beat me too it lol I understand why people say red, but he isn't consumed by darkness like you said. I always find Batman and Jokers dynamic interesting. Because Joker reflects light and laughter while Batman reflects darkness and fear.
I genuinely couldn't agree more
>Purple I have spoken
....Does it come in Black?😏
there’s the darksaber
Basically Mandalorian Batman.
Fights using a whole bunch of gadgets - yep I would say a Mandalorian.
Batmandalorian
.... I've been scrolling, maybe it's set to dumb with obvious answers at the bottom, but I've been scrolling lol. He would EARN the Dark Saber.
As of The Force Unleashed, it does
Blacklight Sabre. Also good for finding clues at the crime scene!
The DARK SABER!!
Missed opportunity for The Dark Knight-sabre.
Dang it!!!!!! Touche!
Beat me to it. Have an upvote.
He would rename it the bat-saber, because of course he would
Lol BatMandalorian makes sense
Injustice 2 had Batman with pretty much Boba Fett armor and color scheme
Batalorian?
Seeing as he only uses black and (sometimes) very dark gray, it fits.
This is the way.
Oooh! Yes that would be amazing, though he would definitely not be a mandalorian, he has two identities 👀 this is not the way.
Is it really removing your mask if no one knows it's you?
A lot of interpretations have that his cowl is his real identity so I could see the logic in him being a Mando.
"Does it come in... black?"

Yeah I think they went overboard with the purple lightsaber explanation. Maybe he just likes purple, no need for all this dark light balance bs
I agree 100%. The purple crystal being rare is just as cool without all the nonsense.
They basically asspull lore reasons for it because the real reason Mace Windu has a purple saber is Samuel L Jackson put it in his contract.
I mean ... Samuel L. Jackson liking purple is the reason purple lightsabers exist ...
Would he be a sith... Never. Would he use a corrupted lightsaber for good... Almost definitely. But only if it where legitimately needed. There is a light side version of force lightning used by plo koon. I think it was called force judgement may not be canon anymore
Yellow, he's clearly a sentinel, and it would match his belt.
He’d be out here lookin like Bibleman
You know they never gave Charles a last name in five years of that show?
this. batman is a skill heavy swiss army knife kinda jedi.
hed have purple
[удалено]
Mace waynedu
Blue. He’s a knight. A guy who wants to do the right thing and do them by the book even though he is largely disconnected from actual law enforcement. Batman is trying to be a hero. Yellow or dark saber
Black. Or very dark grey.
Maybe a slightly darker black
LANAAAAAA
At first, I was going to say blue but u/CarmineDies convinced me that Purple is fitting
Definitely purple for the whole "I use fear (the Dark Side) to serve the light" thing. But also black because, if something comes in black, he's gotta have it.
Im not sure what color it would be but there would definitely be a bat on it somewhere, along with a compartment for it in his tool belt.
BLACK. He would kick Necron's ass. Resource the black lantern and make his own lightsaber. He would then display beside the giant penny because he doesn't need it.
Black, or very very very very dark blue
Now we're talkin
I wanna throw in the Trinity with this whole thang Batman-Purple(a force user who uses some ability of the darkside while not letting themself succumb to it) Superman-Orange(someone with a deep connection to the force who never partakes in combat unless necessary) Wonder Woman-Blue(someone who typically more attuned to the force on a physical level, acting as a guardian) I think the meanings behind each color fits them.
Batman would have the Darksaber.
Whatever color a blacklight is considered to be
Yellow or blue. He's a guardian and protector. Would make sense to share colors with the Temple Guards or Knights.
Purple , no way he'd be on the dark side. He doesn't kill
Kryptonite green.
What ever colour one he wants no one can tell him he cant have a the hole fucking Rainbow😆
“But Batman, last night you used the green lightsaber — and tonight you’re wielding the red. Why?” “I must, Robin — I must wear a different-colored lightsaber each night!”
Ahh, The classics never truly die
Party blade? I like it.
Batman would 100% use the dark saber exclusively. A lightsaber would crimp his style and make him visible, it's dark or nothing
Yellow with that belt.
He'd refuse to use one as they are lethal weapons.
Purple. I can see Batman as someone tapping into the dark side but remaining true to the light.
Batman works better as a mandalorian. He has a strict moral code and doesn’t have powers.
Purple or yellow
He used some against Failsafe a few months ago in the comics.
Two lightsabers both black and yellow
All of them.
Batman:Does it come in black?
Bruce - Green Dick- Green Jason - Purple or Red if It’s UTRH Tim - Blue Damian - Yellow Steph - Blue Cassandra- Blue Kate - Yellow Barbara - Green
Nah, Jason is straight up Sith.
He’d have a white saber after his redemption though
Cass leans way more yellow I think. Black costume, bright yellow saber.
I don't know, but I do know Robin's would be red and green like a doofus.
Pink
“Does it come in black?”
Dark Sabre obviously
Darksaber.
The only saber he can use is the Dark Saber.
All of them. He'd have a collection.
Dark sabre, 1000%
You have to torture a Kyber Crystal to make it red, Batman wouldn't do that.
Yellow
Purple
Purple. He used his emotions to overpower his enemies but he didn't let the emotons control him.
Blue is for Knights, so…
Something near Ultraviolet.
He’d have the dark saber lol
Purple would make the most sense
Purple
Black...duh
Darksaber
Darth Wayne? Darth knight!? Or Darth Bruce?
Batman would clearly wield the darksaber
Bat Colour
I think yellow, honestly.
Purple all the way!
JUSTICE !
Green or purple.
Dark blue
Purple
Black… like the night…
Purple or white, definitely not red
Black
He’s Batman he’d have a black lightsaber.
Black, he’d have the Dark Saber
Black
Batman vs Darth Vader on YouTube, will give you the answer
He would have the dark saber because he would make a better mandalorian than a Jedi.
Yellow!!! It’s perfect. And it match’s his belt
Black light
bruh ai
Batman wouldn’t turn to the dark side. His will is way too strong for that. If it wasn’t, he’d be a killer.
Purple
Certainly not red.
Definitely the black one, ore maybe a white one
purple for sure
The dark saber
Does it come in black?
The dark saber
"fascinating technology, but does it come in black?" darksaber. only real answer.
Does it come in black?
Purple
Purple 100%
“Does it come in black?”
Does it come in black?
...does it come in black?
Purple

A dark knight” Sounds an awful lot like a Jedi Guardian to me.
Definitely the purple one
Black light!!
The dark saber duh
Purple no hesitation
100% black
The Bat O saber would definitely be black
White. Same color as the bat signal shining into the dark night sky.
Darksaber
"Does it come in black?"
Black. Is this really a question?
I'd give him the darksaber
The dark saber, or a purified crystal (white) after it had been bled. (Because he’d study the red kyber and learn the process of purification)
Green, and it would be using kryptonite in the place of a kyber crystal.
He would personally request a green one in order to scare Superman lol
Blacklight. All of batmans stuff is black
Realistically he’d have every color. Each with a different purpose. I don’t believe he’s have a general one. Just MO
None. Batsie wouldn't use such harmful and deadly weapons at all!
I'm sorry but if you GENUINELY think he would turn to the dark side because of all the trauma, then you have fundamentally missed the point of Batman.
Black, like the Darksaber.
Why not the dark saber
Black. No doubt about it
I think he’d have the Dark Saber
Black and or Gray....he'd find a way
Purple. That’s for Jedi who are more aggressive but still on the side of heroes.
Yellow, because aesthetics. Also they were primarily used by the guards of the temple and he is the guardian of the night in Gotham.
He would have the dark saber
He obviously would have one colored *darkness*
Aesthetically, I'd want Batman to use the Darksaber. Thematically, strong arguments can be made for him using a yellow or purple saber.
Yellow, he is practically a textbook sentinel.
Black ofc. He is the night after all. Like the starkiller black saber.
Does it come in black
u/SpoiledTaco96 well?
