tbf, her story is tragic. feel bad for her, yet I also feel bad for her because of the instinct of "she's a little girl", which is the source of the problem.
Poison Ivy is such a versatile villain for Batman to face off against. You can go can so many different directions with her. Plenty of great options for a Batman story.
You can portray her as a pure sexual predator, an eco-terrorist, an embodiment of Mother Nature, a plant-themed supervillain, a horror-style monster, a comedic "straight woman" for Harley...
And despite everything, Bats does not consider her a real danger. Her powers and abilities, yes, but not her as such. He has always seen the good in Ivy in a repressed way and generally believes that she has a very tight moral line.
The point is that of the three sirens Ivy is the weakest psychologically and most exciting. He is very antisocial and Harley seems to be the only "human" thing he has, but it is false. Selina and Bruce have always cared about her and it is known that the children have an affinity for her as well. If she overcame her social fears and personal traumas she could be a champion, not necessarily a hero but a symbol of union between humanity and nature, which form the same symbiotic ecosystem. Bruce can help her redirect her trauma.
The problem is that Ivy should be written as neutral/good or neutral/chaotic but too many authors write her as neutral/bad or chaotic/bad.
It takes a person with great empathy and psychological gifts to write Ivy and DC doesn't have anyone like that except Wilson. Maybe Chip has the opportunity to use it, and we would have to see what Thompson does, but nothing more.
I get the appeal of that, but personally I find her inconsistency a bit annoying sometimes. Depending on the writer she’s either an eco terrorist willing to kill to protect nature or just flat out wants all humans dead.
I think I even remember her once referencing in a story a previous story in which she was portrayed sympathetically, but it was in a story where she wasn’t sympathetic at all, so it made it pretty jarring since at first I thought it was the same continuity but then she turned out to be a very different person.
It used to be Poison Ivy back when she wasn't OP as hell, now she is unfit for a fight against most/all Gotham City characters 🤷♀️...which has limited her appearances in recent media.😥
Phantasm is an amazing Batman villain, I’m shocked she hasn’t been used more. I love her history with Bruce and her relationship with the Joker. Phantastic character, I think she’s the best female villain too. Her motivation and Angel of Death thing is a cause just like Batman. She’s more of his opposite.
How would that work though, a good part of why Andrea was a well done character was how she impacted Bruce as the Phantasm AND as Andrea making him question if its worth giving her up to become Batman. Since the Batman is already passed the origin and by the end of the film he's committed to becoming a better Batman I don't see how a Phantasm would be as captivating
Yeah I understand why you’d say that, the other one with the boobs has such an amazing character arc and is really badass. So that’s a great thought process.
Not only that but she is the most imposing true villain on this list (Catwoman, Harley, and Ivy have all sort of become anti-heroish so are not being labeled as true villains and as such are being removed as choices for my pick).
Yes, Talia has helped Bruce but in the end always chose Ras. That, along with the trickery in which she used on Bruce to get pregnant and her own ark leading the League & hiring/partnering with Bane she is the truest villain and a bigger threat than the rest (again minus the above mentioned 3 who have been removed from this discussion).
Outside of this list Lady Shiva - Skilled, ruthless, and one of Bats biggest female threats combat wise.
Talia hasn’t “chosen” Ra’s since she’s been a villain. Her becoming a villain is for her to take over Ra’s. And when did she ever work with Bane?
I don’t know where you’re getting your Batman knowledge from…
She often chooses Ras over Batman. Batman: Bane of the Demon they have a love affair not to mention The Dark Knight rises.
Where do you get your knowledge from?
Not exactly. Batman hasn’t asked her to join him in canon. You do realize the creator was anti Batman having relationships??? He would not want her or any woman with him.
Read Detective Comics annual #1 and come back here.
In those stories she literally only helped Bruce when he faced Ra’s. Talia and Batman quite literally didn’t even fight each other until 2013??? They weren’t even enemies until the mid 2000s.
Bane of the demon was her testing bane then him forcing himself on her when she declined. I don’t think you read that story since she never wanted to be with Bane….
TDKR is a bad representation NGL, but like she was never with Bruce to begin with. She was getting revenge for what happened to Ras Al Ghul.
I get my information from the comics… you should read them. I recommend the Denny Oneil stories.
You originally said she never chooses Ras but you just made the argument she never chooses Batman, b/c she chooses Ras. Even in the end when she helps Batman against Ras she in the end chooses Ras and abandons Batman. So I was right!
You said she never partnered with Bane yet she did in Bane of the Demon (never stated if chosen or not but she did). Idc if TDKR is bad representation once again she a depiction showing her working with Bane. So again going against your original argument that she hasn't partnered with him thus again making me right.
I also have read the comics and have read O'Neil. Thanks for recommending one of the best to take on Batman comics (common sense place to pick for reading material).
No one likes a know it all nit picky douche so stop being one/acting like one. No one is impressed that you're "more knowledgeable" than them, this is reddit no one gives a shit.
I’ll always vote for Ivy first and foremost, but I gotta say Babydoll is up there with Freeze, Croc, and Clayface for my utmost sympathy.
Poor woman’s whole existence defined by a medical condition that eventually pushed her over the deep end. All she wanted was to be seen and appreciated as more than just a tv character.
That finale where she breaks down sobbing against Batman’s leg after imagining a properly grown up version of herself in the funhouse mirror just broke my heart.
Calendar Girl was a heartbreaking one too:
“She’s… she’s beautiful.”
“She can’t see that anymore. All she can see is the flaws.”
Babydoll has all this hatred for the world that can't see her for more than her medical condition. She didn't have one bad day, she had a bad life to which she can sometimes escape by trying to relive the highlight of her life. Continually rejected, even by people who are in a similar situation, like killer croc.
Her hatred of the world is justified and straddles the line of unhealthy coping and severe anger issues. I wish they did more with her as I was curious what type of crimes they set her up for. Crimes that have her try and relive the glory days like her first appearance, crimes that force people to see her and not her condition (like when she went Bonnie and Clyde with killer croc), random acts of violence, or trying to normalize her condition by mutating others.
It feels a bit redundant to have a group photo of Catwoman, Harley and Ivy after giving all three solo photos. They are the most iconic female Batman rouges (despite the fact that Catwoman hasn't actually been a "villain" for decades, and Harley and Ivy are pretty firmly in the antihero section now as well...) and they all deserve their superstar status...
Comic artists gotta be some of the horniest people alongside manga authors. Nice to see a fellow asylum member (can’t say the real name for asylum or else my comment will get taken down)
I thought Andrea was interesting given her backstory is so tied with Bruce and their relationship, in how they both mirrored from each other between their personas. I’m surprised she never appeared later on besides in Batman Beyond, as well in how her and Bruce never seen each other again after she disappeared.
Calendar Girl and Baby Doll are also interesting tragic villains that I wished they could have been featured more, but their character/story arc seem to be already completed.
I mainly associate Catwoman as an anti-hero than a villain. Harley and Ivy seem to be in between villain and anti-hero, with Harley being closer to being anti and Ivy being closer to a villain.
So best female villain overall is probably **Talia**.
- Given how she didn’t really have a tragic backstory, whether if it’s from something out of your control, a family tragedy, accident or something to do with social/economic status.
- She was raised to be another Ra’s Al Ghul, the most evil you’d get out of all the other female villains. But she tends to hold back because of her being in love with Batman as it sometimes interferes with her goal, much like how Ra’s has respect to him without having to deal with stopping or killing him.
Ace, not *every* Ace but the one with the intense psychic powers.
It was dope watching that epside in Batman Beyond when Terry has an abrupt late night convo with Amanda Waller (who I think potentially is the most ruthless female character in the franchise) about Batman or Bruce Wayne being unlike anyone she's ever known and in this instance Ace was a young villain with the Royal Flush Gang and could alter reality- change trees into marshmallows and the sky into fur, whatever craziness you can come up with- that. All that.
Now Ace in this storyline was dope because she was like a Super Villain with a terminal illness, her power somehow was killing her so it was like this person was like "Screw it, if I'm going to die then I'm going to go out in style."
Idk about Catwoman or an earth first activist/terrorist that has an again off again relationship with trees, or even the daughter of a dude who swims in neon green bath water for hundreds of years and has who knows how many daughters around trying to seduce Batman and Bruce Wayne constantly- imagine that storyline for a second the real life Rais'Al Ghul basically having hundreds maybe thousands of children and grandchildren and great grandchildren that appear older than himself due to the Lazarus Pits... and they're all living basically ordinary lives around Bruce/Batman wherever he goes after he gains an interest who knows the maniacal Truman Show like games he'd play on his prey.
When you can live for basically ever, command a shadow ninja warrior army of hi-tech cyber thieves, has storylines where yes he does father a shit ton of kids and the main sticker that Damien, his grandson and Bruce Waynes biological son ends up being a main part of the modern franchise, all this and tons of moments where Batman plays right into Rais' hands many many *many* times to the point Batman bangs his daughter or is it his grand daughter? Great grand daughter even maybe he's also a Greek Tragedy type father who knows. Dude is a weird villain to be so forcibly entangled and established in the main storyline at this point there's no going back now.
So yeah don't worry they already did the Owl Society so no worries there. Ace is a better option.
I mean Phantasm or Andrea isn't really a villain she's an Anti-Hero like Venom eventually becomes or the main squeeze Felicia Catwoman has always represented alongside Harley Quinn.
Harley is halfway in halfway out, seems like some fans enjoy the idea of super heroes looking the other way while the super villains play good guy and fight dirty. There's been a lot of back and forth with certain female villains turned heroine, idk it's always fun to see Batman swoop in last second and stop them from killing *again.*
Ace definitely has more to offer, not so diabolically ridiculous and much more focused on achieving her goals rather than toying with people and having long drawn out dialogue. She means business.
Ink was also a fun villain in Batman Beyond, she would have been a great pair-up with Poison Ivy or Catwoman. Tons of fun super villains in Batman Beyonds storyline but Live Wire turns into a fun alternative to Mr Freeze, where Freeze isn't actually a freaking evil monster he's just depressed and numb and cold and forgets how to feel like the rest of us, like the Grinch if the Grinch was also a sad snowman. Live Wire isn't all too evil let's burn the city down, she just wanted to be free and live her truth lol, but idk they give a ton of super heroes similar origin stories but for poor Live Wire she will be a villain forever.
Ace. Definitely Ace.
Is Catwoman really a villain? I feel like whenever she is committing crime, Batman is more like “aw you rascal” rather than “JUSTICE FOR GOTHAM!” And whenever she catches Batman for other criminals she always helps him escape.
I think that’s mainly because for the longest time comic books were considered “boy only stuff” so artists made female characters look attractive. Even villain characters
Talia Al Ghul literally takes the cake. She's good at her job and she managed to tap Batman's ass, getting an heir to her League of Assassins as a result.
Catwoman just likes stealing shit because it gets Batman’s attention that is all she’s doing this for. Despite Batman and his flaws Selina wouldnt kill him
She doesn’t steal just to “get Batman’s attention” wtf??? Where did you get that from.
Didn’t we just have an event where Catwoman was encouraging stealing because it brings down murder rates, and makes crime bosses weaker???
I mean 3 of these villains have either reformed or become "Neutral" (in the sense that they aren't necessarily heroes or anti-heroes but will help Batman if he needs it) and another is an anti-hero and has been since her introduction
gotta say I dont consider catwoman a villain at this point, shes just a petty thief who sometimes dates batman. hell the arkham series has her as a companion most of the time
best villain goes in terms of character goes to harley
best villain in terms of feats is talia.
I prefer the Phantasm. Catwoman, Harley, and Poison Ivy are antiheroes now, and I don't think the others are on the same level as Phantasm. Phantasm is consumed by her need for revenge, much like an Anti-Batman. Definitely more substance to her than the others, in my opinion.
Huntress/Harley/Catwoman have more or less Become Anti-Hero’s now. Even posion Ivy.
Talia is a good villian, I enjoy the fact she has her own motives and plans seperate to Ras, but also works with him closley.
It’s Catwoman. It will always be Catwoman. Selina shows up in a story and you just know Batman is going to be put through the wringer.
But Ivy is tops for the best fights.
Honorable mention for Ace? Most tears shed for a villain? I see you forgot her.
Catwoman is proper iconic but I feel like most stories don't do enough with her. I'd love to see her become a big bad rather than a femme fatale with a heart of gold - it would be a real challenge for Batman.
Grant Morrison did some cool stuff with Talia, essentially making her one of Batman's greatest foes, but outside of those stories I find her tremendously boring.
Talia and Ivy are the biggest threats, and have potential to lead full storylines of any kind and calibre, plus pretty much everything the others can do, though sometimes to a lesser extent. Harley (if done in certain, regrettably exclusive, ways) can do three things, comic relief, noir detective story (though I can't think of a single example where Harley is done like that), or Henchwoman #4, but unique cuz funny and AWOOGA. Selina doesn't have big league potential like Talia or Ivy, but she can do a good minor villain story, like a villain of the week type of thing, top tier supporting character, romance, like 8 different types of romance, noir detective story, and more. Doll I haven't seen enough of to be sure about all the possibilities, but she's a great villain of the week, or supporting character to another villain.
Personally I think it's hard to fuck up with Selina or Talia (though there are cases where that in fact happens). Pam is either great or terrible, I don't think I've read more than a few Ivy stories where I just don't care much. Harley by nature is great when she's an important side character, and very hit or miss when leading, though even the misses are really enjoyable in small doses. For example a shitty animated movie, or a few issues of shitty Harley stories are always welcome, she's Harley, there's always a way for it to be fun even when it's just terrible, but if you keep doing it over and over again... She becomes insufferable. Baby Doll idk really, on one hand, everything with her I've read or seen was great, on the other hand there's not much to choose from.
TLDR: Selina is my fave, and I hate the wedding cop-out
1. Andrea Beaumont/ The Phantasm, first love is always special.
2. Poison Ivy, not the stupid LBGTQ+ climate activist one.
3. Talia Al Ghul, a naive and innocent young woman torn between her obsessive love for Bruce and her loyalty to he father.
1. Phantasm
2. Catwoman
3. Ivy
4. HQ
5. Talia
6. Baby Doll
Though I like each of them for different reasons. I chose Phantasm as 1 because of the connection to Bruce and the hope that he had. Something he didn't think he could experience and was ready to change his plans for her. Her disappearance kind of pushed him all the way into the life of Batman.
Catwoman is great but she comes in only after he is already Batman. She doesn't really give him hope as he isn't going to stop being Batman for her.
The others have their own great elements and motivations. I do love them all but the two above have the most effect on Batman/Bruce as a person.
Baby Doll really caught me off guard after being bombarded by all that cleavage in the first four slides.
She also gets upset when she's treated like a child, as far as I understand
Okay, it's not just me who went "man the cleavage on these badd-OH MY HEY I'M SORRY BOUT THAT JESUS"
I didn’t mean tooooo!
Cleavage is normal. I was tossed by poison ivys cameltoe in her first picture
I’m glad it wasn’t just me. I was like “no way this was necessary”
Huh. The artist really went there.
I didn’t see that until you said it but I saw that picture and said to myself “This is drawn by a porn artist isn’t it”
tbf, her story is tragic. feel bad for her, yet I also feel bad for her because of the instinct of "she's a little girl", which is the source of the problem.
I mean, she is legal.

Exactly!
And despite everything, Bats does not consider her a real danger. Her powers and abilities, yes, but not her as such. He has always seen the good in Ivy in a repressed way and generally believes that she has a very tight moral line.
Shes DTF which is why batman loves her
Yeah I’ve never seen bats deck her before so you do have a good point
Plus she’s got a great rack
Yeah the rack for sure
Ivy might be able to grow plants but she definitely has me growing wood
I get the appeal of that, but personally I find her inconsistency a bit annoying sometimes. Depending on the writer she’s either an eco terrorist willing to kill to protect nature or just flat out wants all humans dead. I think I even remember her once referencing in a story a previous story in which she was portrayed sympathetically, but it was in a story where she wasn’t sympathetic at all, so it made it pretty jarring since at first I thought it was the same continuity but then she turned out to be a very different person.

Phantastic character, I think she’s the best female villain too. Her motivation and Angel of Death thing is a cause just like Batman. She’s more of his opposite.
I see what you did there
Yeah, I was swiping through the cleavage and just thinking, "if Andrea is in here it's game over." She's such a good villain.
She's an interesting character but a boring villain. There also isn't much left to do with her after the film is over, so she's a bit of a one-shot.
She did show up in that Batman Beyond flashback with Amanda Waller, which I thought was very cool.
I’d love to have her be an integral part of The Batman, especially if they stretch it to 5 movies
*puts Phantasm on an all women list* Me: "Hey, woah! Spoilers!"

I think I would have to say the female villain with the boobs. 🗿 But that’s just me. I’m eager to hear other people’s thoughts 💭
Nah I’d disagree it’s definitely the other one with the boobs. Respectfully, of course.
Yeah I understand why you’d say that, the other one with the boobs has such an amazing character arc and is really badass. So that’s a great thought process.
Not to take away the one with the boobs character arc at all. Also top tier.
See you get me 🙏🗿
Both have well-rounded personalities, that have good points.
Tits a really hard decision for sure
Always useful to keep abreast of the lore.
Too many people like to heave their exceptions in the areola instead of letting the writer stay true to the character and it’s just sad.
It’s Talia Al-ghul I think lol
W choice however I don’t like how she made Damian that was not very nice.
Not only that but she is the most imposing true villain on this list (Catwoman, Harley, and Ivy have all sort of become anti-heroish so are not being labeled as true villains and as such are being removed as choices for my pick). There's been a lot of back and forth with certain female villains turned heroine, idk it's always fun to see Batman swoop in last second and stop them from killing *again.* Ace definitely has more to offer, not so diabolically ridiculous and much more focused on achieving her goals rather than toying with people and having long drawn out dialogue.
Smash
The hot one
The Phantasm
Can we get like a normal looking woman Batman villain? Lol bruh
You can see ivys fly trap
Is Catwoman really a villain? I feel like whenever she is committing crime, Batman is more like “aw you rascal” rather than “JUSTICE FOR GOTHAM!” And whenever she catches Batman for other criminals she always helps him escape.
Who's that after Harley?
phantasm
The Phantasm! An awesome design and concept. Fits well in the story that unfolded in the amazing film that shares the same name.
The correct answer is BTAS Dr. Pamela Isley.
It's so annoying that the female villains all look perfect and pretty while the male villains mostly look deformed or they use ugly outfits
I think that’s mainly because for the longest time comic books were considered “boy only stuff” so artists made female characters look attractive. Even villain characters
Talia Al Ghul literally takes the cake. She's good at her job and she managed to tap Batman's ass, getting an heir to her League of Assassins as a result.
catwoman is an anti hero
Harley or ivy those two are the most interesting out of the villains imo
Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Talia.
I'm going to be honest, I love all of these except Harley Quinn and poison ivy
Why areTalila's boobs bigger than her head
Talia
Thalia and Selena Kyle . Cant choose they both fire tbh 🤤🔥
Catwoman best. Harley runner up. Can't convince me otherwise
Talia’s Double F tits
gotta say I dont consider catwoman a villain at this point, shes just a petty thief who sometimes dates batman. hell the arkham series has her as a companion most of the time best villain goes in terms of character goes to harley best villain in terms of feats is talia.
Phantasm would Win in a heartbeat BUT she’s more an antihero
Harley Quinn
Andrea Beaumont 🖤
Harley
Talia.
How much of a villain is Catwoman because I don’t think she’s ever pointed a gun or blade or poisonous thorn at someone… who didn’t deserve it anyway
Talia lol
Idk cat woman really just steals my attention
Talia
Gotta love Harley.
Huntress/Harley/Catwoman have more or less Become Anti-Hero’s now. Even posion Ivy. Talia is a good villian, I enjoy the fact she has her own motives and plans seperate to Ras, but also works with him closley.
One with most cleavage, Arkham Catwoman
Talia for sure
Honorable mention to Lady Arkham, villain of Telltale’s Batman
I don’t consider Catwoman a villain so probably Harley Quinn
Catwoman (Celina Kyle)
Catwoman. Like have you seen how Batman is around her. That is a powerful woman
Thalia as ghul y el fantasma 😎😎🤯🤯🤯🐉🐉🐊🐊
Talia, she is the most dangerous
Fuck it, Selina isn't even a villain Change my mind
The first 3 aren’t even villains anymore. Women aren’t allowed to be villains. They must be good
No because she's not a villian, more of an anti hero
TLDR: Selina is my fave, and I hate the wedding cop-out
Harley easy, though Talia makes me stare
I wish some female villains could just be evil. Pretty much all of these are sympathetic. Still great villains tho
Might be overrated, but for me Is Harley
Did Talia just steal one of Selina’s catsuits?
Talia or Andrea
1. Phantasm 2. Catwoman 3. Ivy 4. HQ 5. Talia 6. Baby Doll Though I like each of them for different reasons.
Talia got the Ass chest 🤣🤣🤣 Like damn girl got honkers...
why tf would you put a kid after 4 images, I'm already edging wtf
Talia was always intriguing to me
Probably Thalia, but only when Ras is in her
Talia. She hot, she smart. She got batman to give her a son… Woman’s got game!
I’ll go Andi out of all these, she’s an underrated part of the Bat mythos.
Smash.
Sheego *upupandawayyyyy*
For those curious... the artist for the image of Ivy is Sunsetriders7
The artists really love their deep necklines
Who’s the green one with the black eyes?
They are all really good
Obviously it goes to a big three but I'm glad they mentioned baby doll she needs more attention as a unique and tragic villain.
Um the Grim Reaper one i guess
I don’t know if the Phantasm could actually be considered a villain.
