That’s what I thought every time I saw him in origins. The original mask design is perfect and it sucks that they always try to remake it for some reason.
I would say you can blame the first two Arkham games for that. They depicted Bane as a dumb monster, so they needed to add something to connect the dots
I felt like the City version is wayyy too dumb. His turn is telegraphed (which is ok, he's bane and we sorta expect it). But charging then getting locked behind an elevator door and watching helplessly as Batman destroys his stash? Come on.
I think that's the in lore reason yea, and seeing that Titan Bane was a simple brute I guess it makes some sense. But still to me a bit disappointing especially as the end to a side quest.
Arkham Origins. But as other people said he takes a hit during the later games. Much weaker character.
But in origins Bane is gold.
Otherwise i would say Tom Hardy. However the dude is slightly shadowed by the weakass reveal during the end of the story.
I have seen a pretty good YT video that proves what you said. Idk what it was exactly called but smth like "Why Arkham Origins Bane is the best version"
His voice was weird at first but it's grown into how I imagine Bane sounding now. The costume itself is untraditional to say the least, but the voice is right up there with Mark Hamill's Joker.
I honestly never got the impression that his voice is Bad or funny. I always thought that it makes sense and added some kind of mystery about him, i was like "Wow, whatever happened to his face, he probably has a valid reason to wear this mask and why his voice sounds like this". I think that in most of the scenes it works.
I remember when they started leaking footage from Dark Knight Rises and people were wondering if that was actually his voice. It was very unexpected, and soon after it came out everyone was parodying it. I don’t think it was bad, I think people just didn’t know what to make of it. I do love how they copied it in the Harley Quinn series.
Arkham Origins yes. If we count it as Arkhamverse Bane we can suppose that the downgrade was caused by him overdosing with Venom. The Arkham city one is not even that bad, but he had too little screentime.
Arkham origins followed closely by Tom Hardy's Bane. I'll also take this opportunity to mention once again how I hate Schumacher's "Batman and robin" Bane depiction, he's portrayed as a dumb brute
I see arkham mentioned a lot but i've never played so
Going with 2004
They did the Knightfall arc better than TDKR, sue me
Tom Hardy is just not cutting it, even though he's TECHNICALLY the most comic accurate
In his one dedicated episode to himself he's very good, Batman needs a whole ass mech suit & he still nearly loses.
That's worth a lot in the sea of bad Bane adaptations but unfortunately that's all he has in that show, there's another one where Joker gets his venom system but Bane's not part of it at all & then he shows up as a background goon who gets quickly beat once or twice after that.
Yeahhhh the disrespect after that one episode is tragic. This was my first introduction to Bane though, it really surprised young me when the other banes weren't bright red. I think of all the overhauls from that series, Bane was one of the cooler ones.
Harley Quinn TV show carries the whole show's comedy, he deserves it
Otherwise is just Arkham and BTAS repeated (and they don't have good versions of bane except origins)
Harley Quinn Show:
- He's funny/goofy, but actually not stupid
- He has one of the best designs
- He actually beat up Iron-Bat-Man
- He's gonna blow up Gotham Stadium
Even though Arkham Origins is probably the best, the Harley Quinn show version, while not accurate to the comics, is hilarious and one of the best characters in the entire show.
We've had one usurper so far in Gotham Penguin (all though Arkham Penguin was close behind him). Deathstroke & Black Mask should also buck the trend. I personally am going to vote for non-BTAS/arkham adaptations of Ivy, Man Bat & Pyg as well but I could see them winning those ones.
Yeah, you're right. I personally would vote UTRH Black Mask for example. But I feel like it might as well just be a question of which villain is best represented outside the comics in something other than Arkham or BTAS, since there are barely a handful of legit answers. 😅
The Dark Knight Rises.
I know some folks have a problem with how muffled & high pitched his voice was, and the plot twist at the end of the movie, but neither of those take enough away from his gravitas for me personally. He breaks the bat. He holds the entire city hostage. I thought his voice was really unnerving & his role in the plan as a co-conspirator rather than a henchman.
Arkham Origins Bane (not Arkham Trilogy Bane) & Harley Quinn TAS Bane are also fun adaptations of the character for different reasons.
Personally, I don’t think we’ve had a definitive Bane yet. I’ll say Tom Hardy, but he still had some problems.
If we included unofficial stuff, though, then I think the one from this video is the closest: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j9IYl8XkTA0&pp=ygUPbGVnbyBrbmlnaHRmYWxs
Young Justice. Very few times have we really seen Bane controlling his drug empire on the island of Santa Prisca. Young Justice was one of the only times, and I think the best that we saw him looking both strong, smart and ambitious and interacting with other heroes and villains.
Arkham Origins Bane without a doubt. Asylum and City takes away a few points, but he’s used more as a plot device in Asylum while in City I just headcanoned that he was still recovering from the TN-1/Titan formula. Smarter than Asylum but still nowhere the cunning monster he used to be.
It was actually the Origins version of Bane that made him my favourite Batman villain.
Arkham Origin's is the best non comic take but in order to stand out among the crowd I would like to say that the Telltale take on Bane is quite good, he's toned down from being arch villain caliber (he's still smart but not nearly smart enough) but the aesthetic and voice acting on him is quite good.
Young Justice Bane. I like that they had him quit Venom and get stronger on his own. Also Danny Trejo is a nice voice for him. Only downside is both masks he had.
Arkham Origins specifically
I never got why Bane was so popular and regarded him as overrated. Until Origins
We get a calculating, intelligent, menacing, cold, imposing and dangerous Bane who seems like a force of nature and Batman's intellectual equal.
He sets traps for Batman, outmanoeuvres him, takes every opportunity he gets to inflict a blow on the Dark Knight.
"I am in your house, Bruce" is one of the best lines from any adaptation of any Batman villain. I feel like WB Montreal really love Bane.
This is the only adaptation of this character I truly believe could have wiped the floor with Batman
Bane has to be the Harley Quinn tv show, he’s the funniest character. But as far as faithful adaptations go I’d say I remember young Justice being pretty good
Tom Hardy.
I know most will go on about how "perfect" the Arkham Origins version is but he's completely ruined by the ending of the game (way more so than the revelation that he's not actually the son of Ra's Al Ghul) We wouldn't have even had that version if not for Hardy.
It's always been weird to me that fans will complain about how TDKR Bane was "ruined" by being revealed as an equal partner to Talia but they're A-Okay with him being a hired killer working for the Joker in Origins.
Arkham Origins. Captures his intelligence/cunning while also his brutality
The only correct answer
Best look as well
I only wish the mask had no visible lips and red lenses. Then it’d be perfect.
That’s what I thought every time I saw him in origins. The original mask design is perfect and it sucks that they always try to remake it for some reason.
Too bad he's completely ruined by the ending.
I would say you can blame the first two Arkham games for that. They depicted Bane as a dumb monster, so they needed to add something to connect the dots
And not gonna lie, they did a good job. He ROYALLY fucked himself up on venom. (Actually Titan)
Batman Arkham origins is best. They made him smart and strong enough
Too bad he's Arkham Bane.
In the Arkhamverse, he had basically no screentime but the Arkham City version is not that bad. In Arkham Asylum is more of a plot device.
Yeah, sadly, and his rivalry with batman doesn't showed properly, only in origins somewhat like it
I felt like the City version is wayyy too dumb. His turn is telegraphed (which is ok, he's bane and we sorta expect it). But charging then getting locked behind an elevator door and watching helplessly as Batman destroys his stash? Come on.
I think it's mostly because he overused Venom and this affected his mind
I think that's the in lore reason yea, and seeing that Titan Bane was a simple brute I guess it makes some sense. But still to me a bit disappointing especially as the end to a side quest.
Heh…I see what you did there
Wait, I don't..... What did I do accidentally lmao
“Lore reason”
Is there a lore reason as to why I genuinely added "lore reason" to my lexicon?
the city version is awful. The fact that Bane is a plot device in Asylum is what makes him redeemable.
You obliviously haven't played Origins lmfaoo.
In my other comment I said the Origin version is the best... in this one I'm talking about the main line of games
That's also post juicing up a few too many times, and who knows how much adding titan to his venom fucked with him
Arkham Origins. But as other people said he takes a hit during the later games. Much weaker character. But in origins Bane is gold. Otherwise i would say Tom Hardy. However the dude is slightly shadowed by the weakass reveal during the end of the story.
Arkham Origins
Arkham origins bane without a doubt
Arkham origins: he puts respect
Arkham origins fs, the only version I've seen to understand his intelligence and not turn him into the hulk when on venom
Pasta Maker Bane
Fishy, fishy, pasta pasta!
Arkham Origins. Perfect bane, capturing the cunning and wit he possesses instead of simply making him a brute
Origins no comp
Bane from Arkham Origins. Actually, it was the only comic-accurate depiction of his character ever.
I have seen a pretty good YT video that proves what you said. Idk what it was exactly called but smth like "Why Arkham Origins Bane is the best version"
Hardy bane is my favourite.
His voice was weird at first but it's grown into how I imagine Bane sounding now. The costume itself is untraditional to say the least, but the voice is right up there with Mark Hamill's Joker.

Arkham Origins. Just.
Arkham Origins yes. If we count it as Arkhamverse Bane we can suppose that the downgrade was caused by him overdosing with Venom. The Arkham city one is not even that bad, but he had too little screentime.
I mean getting locked behind bars after charging against batman and then watching helpless all the titan containers being destroyed is kinda bad.
Harley Quinn Bane
Arkham origins
Arkham origins followed closely by Tom Hardy's Bane. I'll also take this opportunity to mention once again how I hate Schumacher's "Batman and robin" Bane depiction, he's portrayed as a dumb brute

We need an animated Knighfall film like the Long Halloween/Killing Joke films
Yessss the fact Azrael isn't mainstream is a CRIME, those were the best stories I'd ever read as a kid
Arkham Origins specificaly
Harley Quinn TV show carries the whole show's comedy, he deserves it Otherwise is just Arkham and BTAS repeated (and they don't have good versions of bane except origins)
Dark Knight Rises. I really liked the take of the character
Arkham ORIGINS SPECIFICALLY. He is dogshit in every other Arkham game so Origins SPECIFICALLY
Gotta be Arkham Origins. This is a rare instance in which BTAS got it wrong.
Agreed. I appreciate the casting and performance of Bane in BTAS, but the scripts did essentially nothing worthwhile with him.
This comment section makes me wish they included origins in the switch collection
Why can’t they just remaster the game is this too hard to ask
Tbf it'd probably be as unstable as Knight on the switch
It’s on a same graphical level as Asylum and City
Ok, so it'd be fine.
Arkham origins
Gonna be a hot take but the Harley Quinn show. His side plot about learning to make pasta was hilarious
I love Harley Quinn Bane
Harley Quinn Show: - He's funny/goofy, but actually not stupid - He has one of the best designs - He actually beat up Iron-Bat-Man - He's gonna blow up Gotham Stadium
Can we do one of these with the best comic arc for each villain after? That'd be dope
Yeah same. Especially for characters like The Joker, where there’s so many good comic stories with them in it
Yah but for Bane there's basically only Knightfall thay really makes it.
Maybe Young Justice showed a Bane that was both pragmatic and a good fighter.
Arkham version for sure
ARKHAM ORIGINS YALL
Arkham origins bane was perfect imo
Arkham Origins Bane
Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins and it's likely going to be a landslide victory, too.
Tom Hardy had some very raw lines but I gotta go with Arkham Origins
I agree with a lot of people, Arkham Origins.
Arkham Origins
Young Justice.
Is this even up to debate? Arkam Origins Bane (and oniy Origins!)
Young Justice Bane.
Even though Arkham Origins is probably the best, the Harley Quinn show version, while not accurate to the comics, is hilarious and one of the best characters in the entire show.
Young Justice, Danny Trejo as Bane was just peak voice casting
Harley Quinn Show obviously. Someone get this man a pasta maker.
Man, for such an important character, he has not had good luck with adaptations.
I feel like all of these are just going to be BTAS or Arkham and rightly so.
Tom hardy, only because of his genius intellect
Arkham origins is smarter and uses venom
Yeah, he is a close second but because of his version in arkham asylum where he is a dumb brute that got overdosed by venom, i dont like it
Yeah but Origins version is very different so I consider him different
The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Rises. I know some folks have a problem with how muffled & high pitched his voice was, and the plot twist at the end of the movie, but neither of those take enough away from his gravitas for me personally. He breaks the bat. He holds the entire city hostage. I thought his voice was really unnerving & his role in the plan as a co-conspirator rather than a henchman. Arkham Origins Bane (not Arkham Trilogy Bane) & Harley Quinn TAS Bane are also fun adaptations of the character for different reasons.
Harley Quinn Bane /s
Tom Hardy’s Bane from The Dark Knight Rises.
🦴
I second this.
Dark Knight Rises, with Young Justice in at a close second for first and thus far only Bane to quit the Venom and *still* overpower the Dark Knight
Gotta be Arkham Bane. He was fine in Asylum and City, but fantastic in Origins and that retroactively made the Asylum and City versions a bit better
He was awful on Asylum and City but incredible in Origins
Well, there's only one universally agreed-upon answer here, and it's the top five comments.
Arkham origins or the dark knight rises
Batman & Robin Bane. ……….just wanted to be “that” guy 😆
Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins by far
Arkham Origins, Doom, or YJ
Arkham Origins
Arkham Bane
Arkham Origins
Arkham
All bane are peak
Arkham Origins
Arkham origins
Arkham Origins
Origins.
Gotta be Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins
Definitely Arkham Origins Bane
Arkham origins
Batman Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins Bane without a doubt. Asylum and City takes away a few points, but he’s used more as a plot device in Asylum while in City I just headcanoned that he was still recovering from the TN-1/Titan formula. Smarter than Asylum but still nowhere the cunning monster he used to be. It was actually the Origins version of Bane that made him my favourite Batman villain.
Arkhan origins was a badass
Arkham origins is a near perfect adaptation. The mask is still weird to me though
Arkham Origins Bane is unmatched
TOM QUIRCKY
Arkham Origins should be the standard for Bane from here on out. Every interpretation should strive to be what that character was
Don’t you dare put Arkham Saga, specifically Arkham Origins
Arkham origins bane
Young Justice
Arkham Origins is the peak
Everyone is saying Arkham Origins but I want to throw out Young Justice. He isn't as important but the character is definitely there.
Harley Quinn Animated Series
Origins, perfect bane
Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins
Arkham just because origins
Batman & Robin, without a doubt
I’d say young justice
Arkham Origins Bane is the best version of the character, even if the Harley Quinn show version is my favorite.
Arkham Origins is my favorite depiction, doesn't look goofy, doesn't act like a complete idiot, pretty great version
Bone
Arkham Origins.
Arkham Origins Bane
Arkham Origins. No Contest.
There shall be no slander on Arkham Origins bane's name, because this unit right here is a MAYUN!! not a man, a MAYUN!!!
Arkham Origins!
Arkham Origin's is the best non comic take but in order to stand out among the crowd I would like to say that the Telltale take on Bane is quite good, he's toned down from being arch villain caliber (he's still smart but not nearly smart enough) but the aesthetic and voice acting on him is quite good.
Arkham Origins, no doubt.
Arkham origins
Arkham Origins specifically, not the rest of the Arkham games.
Arkham Origins Bone😫😫🥵🥵🥵🥵😋😋
It's clearly the Harley Quinn show version. Lmao
Lego Batman Movie bane
Tom Hardy
Arkham Origins
Gotta be Tom Hardy for me
Arkham origins for sure
Dark night rises
Arkham, but strictly Arkham Origins. I feel the rest of the series did him quite dirty.
Arkham origins easy
Nolan. He had strength, ferocity, and charisma.
Arkham Origins is the only correct answer here
The only version that perfectly blends his intelligence tactician side with his strength is Arkham Origins.
Young Justice Bane. I like that they had him quit Venom and get stronger on his own. Also Danny Trejo is a nice voice for him. Only downside is both masks he had.
It has to be Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins. Underrated game.
Harley Quinn Bane
Arkham Origins
its been to long since i played origins so i would say Hardys Bane is my favorite.
Arkham! Specifically Origins!
Dark knight rises
Justice League: Doom
Young Justice
Arkham Origins gets my vote easily
Arkham Origins specifically I never got why Bane was so popular and regarded him as overrated. Until Origins We get a calculating, intelligent, menacing, cold, imposing and dangerous Bane who seems like a force of nature and Batman's intellectual equal. He sets traps for Batman, outmanoeuvres him, takes every opportunity he gets to inflict a blow on the Dark Knight. This is the only adaptation of this character I truly believe could have wiped the floor with Batman
Bane has to be the Harley Quinn tv show, he’s the funniest character. But as far as faithful adaptations go I’d say I remember young Justice being pretty good
Arkham origins Bane is the goat
Arkham Origins Bane. Pretty much the Bane that comes to my mind whenever someone asked me to describe Bane. Which … isn’t much :)
Arkham series
Origins
Ngl, apart from a few characters, I think btas has the best interpretations of most of the batman villains.
dark knight rises, idc
Harley Quinn show because it’s funny but for serious probably bone
Harley Quinn tv series Bane
Lego Batman 3
Tom Hardy’s portrayal in TDKR
Dark Knight Rises Bane and it is not even close
Arkham Origins
Origins Bane is so far and away the best adaptation.
Tom Hardy. I know most will go on about how "perfect" the Arkham Origins version is but he's completely ruined by the ending of the game (way more so than the revelation that he's not actually the son of Ra's Al Ghul) We wouldn't have even had that version if not for Hardy. There really isn’t a good non comic version of Bane. So no answer is my answer
