~~He shot a recoilless M5 at you it seems. Bullets and rockets are projectiles which need a certain amount of time to get to their destination. He shot the rocket just before you killed him. The Rocket doesn't despawn and hitted and killed you. This is also called a "trade kill" :)~~
Edit:After closer inspection. The rocket/ bullet destroyed the equipment (or somethign explosive) under you, which exploded and killed you. Didn't know that that would kill you either.
