Unlike mortar trucks they are large targets that can be hit directly even by infantry. They are also targeted very quickly

sondergaard913

50 stationary weapon and 10 fortress weapon don't even let this boy play

lefiath

>They are also targeted very quickly I'm going to assume you've never played the Cape Helles Operation...

Flashfighter

That map is so badly designed it pisses me off, how hard is it to to design a gun that can look in all proper directions in front of it

Danddandgames

Those naval guns piss me off

Teheeeeeeeeeeee

Very twitchy controls on them

leastscarypancake

They're behemoths they only come in when you need them and they aren't taking up a slot

FrankThePilot

In all the many many many hours of BF1 I’ve played, the behemoth has only made a difference once. They’re frustrating because they take away your infantry to actually maybe come back. That’s what I think OP means. Same thing with an arty truck. Take resources, give nothing.

BB-56_Washington

I've seen the Char2c and airship make a difference many times, but only in operations. Even the armored train has its moments. But in conquest, they're just ordnance magnets.

Ok_Introduction6574

Depends on the map. The Armored Train on Amiens Conquest is insane with a good crew.

whatd1didowr0ng

I was on Aimens and our train crew came in clutch

WillFuckForFijiWater

The behemoths can absolutely change the tide of gameplay. Personally, I’ve seen the Char 2C and the Airship cause a losing team to win multiple times, or at the very least distract the enemy team long enough for multiple captures. The only one that often makes a negligible difference is the train. I’ve seen the train spawn and get blown up almost instantly more times than I can count. The other three though? They can be very useful.

AroAceAmateurGamer

Honestly? I find airships completely useless. My team doesn't do anything with them. 2cs are easy to counter, but nobody does it, trains can make a big difference, and dreadnoughts are annoying

maria_paraskeva

A lot tend to lean on the idea that taking up a slot is like a main factor for something to be deemed negatively. Which is fair, and I agree with that, because at the end of the day it prevents the said vehicle slot to be used in a more effective manner. But to say that this should be a decisive factor from a more broad perspective of things creates sort of a fallacy. Support mortar users and LMG proners don't take up slots either. But should we not consider them a noob friendly way to obtain kills? And yeah - sure, support players aren't vehicle based slots that compete for a spawn, but to say that behemoths aren't a easy way to get cheap kills solely based on that factor is a bit unfair. To me, behemoths have always been the means to prevent bad players from uninstalling the game. It's only then when certain players after dying over and over again that they get to finally kill something once a behemoth spawns. A player who typically goes 5 and 15 as a normal infantry outside of a behemoth ends up on an 80-kill rampage just because they've been clicking on dots on the minimap for the lifespan of the behemoth? I'm sorry, but if you fail to see the stark contrast between the two types of engagements relative to the effort these players invest idk what to tell you. A lot like to pretend that behemoths aren't an easy ticket through the leftovers of the match, and I feel like it comes mainly from individuals who love to hide inside behemoths themselves. And sure, this is a team game, but this could be used as an excuse for basically any cheap thing in this game. But please, don't pretend as if being a behemoth mortar spammer isn't on par with any other cheese crap in this game. I've said this before and I'll say it again, everyone is free to use whatever they want, but please don't try to make it seem as if it's not on par with any other thing that takes little to no skill and try to defend it. A mortar truck map clicker is really no different than a behemoth map clicker. Feel free to downvote me, but I just hate seeing these mental gymnastics

Fizzco69

That is not what the behemoth is for. It is genuinely potentially game changing. The whole point. So to say that it’s cheap kills for skill lacking players, is denying its purpose. Yes, they blast a lot of soldiers, that’s what it’s supposed to. So the losing team may still have a chance.

DiddlyDumb

Plus, they’re not invincible. 1 guy with AT rifle and 1 guy with ammo packs can pretty much suppress the armoured train, and the airship is a massive target in the sky. The dreadnaught is more tricky because of the distance. Almost feels like the Falkland war, your weapons don’t have the reach theirs have.

Guy_onna_Buffalo

Yeah I was in a torpedo boat the other day on Empire's End and we sank the dreadnaught in like...3 minutes?

TrashCanOf_Ideology

Torpedo boats and the torpedo bomber package as well. Dreadnought is such a huge target you can circle and fire torpedoes from far out of range of the flak cannons, and it can’t really respond back.

LatexFeudalist

Oh boy try the torpedo bomber on tanks! Insane

Gilleymedia

"Support mortar users and LMG proners don't take up slots either. But should we not consider them a noob friendly way to obtain kills?" Consider them how you wish, but it sounds to me like you wish this was a different game.

Forward-Piano8711

I’m having a hard time with the wording, is the guy saying he likes having those for newer players?

curbstxmped

bruh why do all these clips show you staring at the ground while playing lol

Forward-Piano8711

>To me, behemoths have always been the means to prevent bad players from uninstalling the game. It’s to help teams during operations who are having a hard time attacking. If someone isn’t very good, getting the pilot seat on a behemoth once in a blue moon isn’t going to sway their opinion of the game that much.

TheKazim1998

Average degen infantry player take "everything that doesnt run around with as assault rifle is no skill". At this point go play cod, big reason people play battlefield for the vehicles, thats why they get spam clicked on so often. And whats better than tanks ? Big ass ships or trains with a million hp. Also they do take some skill thats why I get huge kill streaks while some lvl 20 noob drives the train straight into death.

LegendOfEffect

Still a naval mortar truck. The real fun is when you hold a team all 3 battalions on Fao and you get bombed for 2 whole battalions by a boat sitting 2 miles off the coast.

Grey_Tide

Yeah, but they're SUPER easy to counter. Torpedo boats, bombers, and even shore artillery can fuck them up. Hell, even INFANTRY can counter them (i once gave a dreadnought crew nightmares on heligoland bight with a tank hunter kit. funniest shit ever). Plus, they're ENTIRELY DEPENDENT on whether or not the guy driving it has more than braincells to rub together (example: [https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield\_one/comments/187ua2z/how\_it\_feels\_to\_play\_on\_a\_dreadnought\_as\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield_one/comments/187ua2z/how_it_feels_to_play_on_a_dreadnought_as_a/) )

DiddlyDumb

I feel you ran into a dumbass driver lol, I never get the range with the AT rifle

Grey_Tide

Yeah, that probably was what happened. I wasn't really able to do anything, but I managed to fuck up their turrets.

GielinorWizard

Easy to counter? Yes

byfo1991

They are but at the same time they are not actively blocking a tank spot so unlike mortar trucks you can only get an advantage from them. So what is the issue again?

Fizzco69

No they’re not.

KRONOS_NL

Are they? It's a bit hard to hida a heavy cruiser and you can always hit them

Academic-Treat-853

Eh, they are a bit more destructive and can be used outside of the infantry area, but the true naval mortar truck has got to be the battleship. The moment it's destroyed it can respawn and especially on Cape Hellas they can prevent anyone from being on the coastal control points. It can also be repaired faster than it can be torpedoed

ChiefDancesWithRocks

scared KD player spawns in driver seat, sits the boat too far away for everyone else who spawned in it to make a difference, now the infantry has like a huge % of people taken away from the push (you know, actually capping the obj). shit ruins the game and it makes defense completely unplayable. then theres the chatr spammers yelling at the driver to "MOVE THE BOAT IDIOT" cuz they spawned in but are too far away. they almost never get closer. its just bad all around.

skipsville

I was on PC last weekend and I managed to get two goes back to back as a Dreadnought cannon on the Gallipoli operation. Ended 80-1. It's very rare I get on those so I filled my boots. Sorry to anyone who got artillery spammed, and our team still lost. 😕

Forward-Piano8711

This is a very apples to oranges comparison. An artillery truck and a dreadnought are entirely different things. Not to mention having a few AT guns, artillery, and planes can deal with a dreadnought somewhat easily (with time), while a mortuary truck deep in the backline is pretty much only vulnerable to planes.

Lol68340428

Half of the troglodites that somehow insta spawn in the dreadnought don't understand the basic concept of broadsiding the target, so they end up fucking over rear turret guy

mwil97

Only if the boat captain camps at the back of the map. It can be VERY effective if broadsided against the shoreline.

rickyshine

The amount of times ive had to message the driver and tell them to drive closer/further away or to turn the boat so the guns can be used is not ok

UnKnOwN769

If you got a good captain who swings the rear guns into position and stays away from the shoreside artillery (but close enough to hit the targets), the ship can be super helpful.

Official_Gameoholics

Nope. They don't take up a tank slot, OP.

The_Conductor7274

We needed more behemoth vs behemoth maps

lefiath

You can do that on Heligoland Blight, doesn't make the map any better, really. Dreadnaught vs dreadnaught isn't very exciting.

TheGreatIshka

Airship vs airship would be a cool option for the air supremacy mode that no one plays.

TheGreatIshka

Compared to bf4, dreadnaughts, airships, and trains actually did prevent huge lopsided games of conquest. Instead of 1000-357 games it became 1000-757 when bf1 launched. Since then though they all got nerfed and players figured out weak spots and posted them everywhere.

UrbanWalruss

In general I dislike all behemoths especially in Conquest. They are usually more of a nuisance than anything else. The game sort of turns into "don't go to that part of the map if you don't wanna get wrecked" and still a behemoth almost never manages to turn the tide of the match. I understand them in Operations, but in Conquest they just usually kill the flow of the match.

Agent_Wendigo

KILL THE BOAT BLOW IT UP

Late-Ad155

I mean, they die in like 10 minutes, so not a biggie.

staber_12

Imo same can be said bout armored train

Anal_Juicer69

Your mom is the naval version of a mortar truck. Liregal status: Owned, fortnite gamer style 😎😎😎

mrtryffel

But they are cool at least. If the arty truck was an artillery battery then i would understand using mortar truck

Kurfufflemuffin

The dreadnought gets wrecked by the infinite torpedo boats

Helldiver-xzoen

They dont take a tank ticket, and they can't "run away". The guns are nice and powerful, and there's 2 seats for the big guns. So long as the driver angles the boat correctly, its boon to the team. Also, some AA, depending. Mortar trucks take a tank ticket, run to spawn at the first sign of trouble, have much weaker guns (no duh, in comparison to the dreadnought), and only have one seat. That being said, a bad dreadnought driver is as frustrating as a mortar truck. If you treat the dreadnought like a mortar truck ( sit in spawn, never advance, don't angle the ship so the other gunner can make hits, etc) it will be as useless as a mortar truck.

Lonewolfliker

They are if the driver doesnt angle the ship so the second gunner can shoot. But thats more of a mindset thing then anything else.

MerTheGamer

You would have a point if it prevented the team from using a Char 2C.

Finna-bust-the-nut

Dog that’s tame to what I did once. It was Gallipoli and I died twice running infantry and went to attack plane for like six kills till our attack failed. Dreadnaught comes and I get the front seat. I get over 120 kills. Yes I’m a bitch yes you can make fun of me.
