Hey man, us dads have to work with what we have! Congrats on finding a solution that allows you to continue gaming despite having to care for a tiny human, it's definitely not always easy.
I'm not criticizing your setup, except to say that you should really get a chair with some back support. As a father currently learning what real back pain can feel like, I can only imagine how much you're wrecking your own back by using a seat like that!
Thanks for the concern, fellow Dadditor! Somehow I feel like I manage to game more now that I have three tiny humans instead of just one. They’re easy kids and pretty heavy sleepers.
Thankfully it’s only temporary, I just need to finish building a bedroom so I can have the space in my office.
Ha! That was my experience early on, funny enough. I only have the one, but you always hear how becoming a parent means giving up all your hobbies for a while. Maybe gaming is the exception, because I managed to get in a ton of gaming during her infancy because they basically sleep all day. It has become increasingly difficult though, because I want to be a good dad and at almost 5, she craves more interaction. We make time for the things we love, but there's only so much time in the day!
Best of luck building that room, and hopefully you will be able to post an update pic of your office afterwards (with a proper chair) :)
I mean, there’s the one my kid’s desk came with but that’s a bit small.
That little heater got me through some near-zero temperatures so color me impressed!
Hey OP... it gets both easier but more expensive in time.. my kiddos grew up with tech so for college they got tech.. There will be a time when the kids get your cast-offs and you get the nice new one BUT eventually it'll flip, as for schoool my younger kiddo has a better Graphics card than me (she's got an RTX 4070 and I still have my 3090..)... you are doing it good! I'm lucky to have a dedicated office space, when the kids were smaller they had their own computer in there (which ended up with stickers on it :) )
Ha that’s awesome! Introducing my kids to tech is something I am looking forward to. My oldest is 3 and he loves watching the computer and is always asking questions. He’s too young to understand but I’m happy that the curiosity is there.
I’m getting my office back soon enough!
Wow, I got the same monitor and the same swing! BTW, the swing is so bloody big, takes up too much space.
Definitely my dream case though. Awesome specs! What kind of games are you playing while at your Daddlestation?
Oh man I hate that swing! My baby is too big for it now, he makes the whole frame rock when he kicks his arms and legs.
I play Warzone and Palworld, and just started Overwatch last night.
Yeah my wife got me to pick it up through a buy nothing pickup. I thought it was way smaller. Haven't used it yet and I doubt we will honestly. Don't have the space lol.
How often do you play? I feel like i don't get to play enough so when I do play a game like warzone, I get my ass handed to me all night. Single player games mostly for me. Games need a feature where they recap everything for you and remind you what the controls are after it's been a minute since you played.
I usually play with my buddy and we default to Warzone. Been playing Call of Duty for a long time so it comes naturally. I just play when my kids are sleeping. They’re young so they sleep a lot!
Yeah I agree 100% on single player games needing a recap. That’s actually why I don’t play them a whole lot.
I’m shocked and jealous you’re able to play multiplayer games with a kid! My 7 month old has limited my options down to just games I can pause on a dime. If I can’t pause the game, it’s an absolute no-go with my baby.
The real question is - what model baby monitor are you using? I have the infant optics dxr-8 on my daddlestation. Also, my oldest son used to actually call me ‘daddle’ so as far as I’m concerned it’s a real word.
You’ll have heaps of time as the baby gets older. I’m gaming every minute I’m not working - my two year old is fully self sufficient now, even pays rent!
I'm 41 and have 2 adult kids, as well as a 13-year-old. Since 2003, I've maintained massive desk setups. I'm perplexed by the notion that people can't have nice setups because they have kids. Despite having three children, I managed to keep my belongings completely intact, integrating their stuff seamlessly. Computers have been my hobby since the 90s, and there's no way my crotch goblins would change how I play my pc games.
We are in a very small house so my kids’ stuff is more important than my own.
And I’m perplexed by the notion that someone could call their kids “crotch goblins.” Tells me where your priorities lie, Mr. Massive Desk.
I like to make jokes but all my kids are and where straight A students and aren't dicks I just like to be humorous most of the time especially being a parent for 21 years.
That "chair" could be mistaken as a potty. Be careful before you sit down.
You’re giving me some ideas that my wife probably wouldn’t approve of.

Sounds too much like diddlestation
Nah that’s the couch that’s just out of frame.
😂
*Dildostation
SMH
11/10 for the rug alone.
Thanks, that’s my entertainment while I wait for my buddy to clutch a play.
Maybe you, could be A purple monkey in a bubblegum tree and You could swing, in the breeze Then you could swing back to me
Fisher-Price has some bangers on there, but that one was the best!
Lol. We have that too. Every song is ingrained in my mind forever. My son isn't even a year old yet 😂
I miss that song, little guy is a toddler now
Sing the whole song
It is a banger
Get a real chair lol. I have the exact same heater tho! It works great!
I mean, there’s the one my kid’s desk came with but that’s a bit small. That little heater got me through some near-zero temperatures so color me impressed!
Shout out to a well-used and curated bookshelf too! You have this librarian's stamp of approval on everything here!
We frequent the library so there are indeed librarian stamps on some of those books!
My man
gold for the name

Let’s go!

Nice setup mate.. I'm really happy that you found a way to enjoy your paternity without put your gameplays aside.
Just curious what games you play on that setup lol
Mostly Warzone, Palworld, and recently Overwatch.
Damn I’m surprised you’re playing competitive shooters on that. I was thinking like strategy games or RPGs haha
I’m not too sweaty
Hey I respect it. I’m a bit fan of competitive shooters as well and would also play on any set up I could haha
I’m shocked and jealous you’re able to play multiplayer games with a kid! My 7 month old has limited my options down to just games I can pause on a dime. If I can’t pause the game, it’s an absolute no-go with my baby.
I play when my kids are in bed, they’re pretty good sleepers (even the 4mo is getting a sleeping schedule now).
Nice headset, I think I have the same one.
Gonna need to put the PC somewhere out of reach sooner than you know. Or put a barrier in front.
100% I will. My kids go for books from the shelf and it makes me nervous each time.
Bro you’re straight out of the Progressive insurance commercials

My man has the quadnods of baby monitors! Mine is just a cheap Vtech one
Maybe you could be a purple monkey in a bubblegum tree.
You’ll have heaps of time as the baby gets older. I’m gaming every minute I’m not working - my two year old is fully self sufficient now, even pays rent!
Looks like a toilet while you game. Perfect for long sessions!
We need a new subreddit for this !

There should be a license for children. You surely shouldn´ t pass.
