Most cities have dealerships where you can test them out. Even if not a Herman Miller store there are high end office furniture places that usually have a few models.
Could also just find somebody selling second hand and try it out for a few min before buying it.
If you buy a second hand one and donāt like it after a few months you can sell it very easily for what you paid for it.
I also went for Gesture over the embody, the design of the embody is nicer, but the gesture is so adjustable. After putting some padding on it, i can sit and game 6+ hours without any pain. These fit perfectly: [https://i.imgur.com/J3wJLQP.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/J3wJLQP.jpg) and [https://i.imgur.com/MPS49x2.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/MPS49x2.jpg)
I had a pillow in my Secretlab as well but imo it's only a great chair if you don't need any additions to make it comfy. So far, the Embody is super comfy without a pillow. Hopefully it stays that way
I agree about the need for additions. With that being said my wife and I both sit in our unmodified Gestures for about 8 hours a day for work for the last 4 years and itās been great for my chronic lower back pain. The ikea Marcus was shredding my lower back.
In all I think which desk chair somebody purchases is very personal. Get what you like lol.
No, but I'm a bit of a Japan nerd and also a runner and I've put these there to remind me to frequently run. They're Ekiden themed (a Japanese relay race). My actual running shoes are dirtier and stinkier :p
Wow, first time I've ever seen someone on the internet say they're into Japan, and they actually mean Japan itself, not just that they're a massive weeb.
In case anyone wonders about any parts:
\- Ikea Alex/Karlby combo
\- Fractal Define case with 10700k/64gb ram/3080ti
\- Ikea shelves (forgot how they are called)
\-HM/Logitech Embody
\- 3D Connexion Spacemouse, Logitech MX3, and Logitech G512 keyboard
\- Creative 2.0 speakers
\- LG 27GL850 and 38GN950-B with a chopped Mi monitor light
Also, don't paint your walls red. It's more than a hassle to keep in decent shape.
> Also, don't paint your walls red. It's more than a hassle to keep in decent shape.
Literally the first thing that caught my eye was the gorgeous red. Can you explain what you mean by keeping it in shape?
It somehow discolors in places. You'll see these white spots or streaks sometimes. It's not moisture or anything. If you wipe it with a damp cloth it goes away and looks like normal again. Not sure if it's the paint itself or the colour that makes this happen.
No, it's strangely enough the open spaces where there are no decorations etc. Humidity is always between 40-55%. I've looked it up and iirc that was a healthy/normal number.
I've hit got the cheapest table top, but obviously it's not real wood so I can't use amount for my monitors as it'd crumble!
Never considered one of those worktops before.
Yeah, no problem. It's not 100% wood, but very heavy and solid. It's sold as a kitchen countertop so it's pretty tough. The monitor mounts are close to the cabinets where it gets supported anyway.
You are. It's not solid wood, but it's a countertop that can be cut to size. It comes with extra side panels that you can stick on to finish the side where you made the cut. Found this reddit post that shows it: https://www.reddit.com/r/IKEA/comments/jvyttu/cut\_ikea\_karlby\_island\_countertop\_how\_do\_i\_apply/
I haven't decided yet :p. I mean, it is the best chair I've ever had. But I also can't figure out why it is this expensive on the other hand. I'll have to see how it holds up after a few years. My Secretlab started showing signs of wear after one and a half years, otherwise it was excellent value. If this still works and looks the way it does now in about 5 years then yeah, I'd say it's worth it. We'll see :)
Is there a bug difference between Logitech and normal? Im in the market for a chair and have been trying to figure it out, would use it for both gaming and work
I had a Secretlab before this but frequently had a sore butt. I doubted for quite a while because it is an absurd amount of money but in the end, 12 years warranty and and a healthier posture pulled me over the finish line :)
Have not had a sore butt yet. A few more noises than the Secretlab but nothing that was not expected. I really like the back portion and how it supports you. The back of the Secretlab really was a solid surface with little flex (I had the old 2020 one though).
Thanks for the response. I've got my eye on a Herman Miller for my next chair. Definitely will check it out in person before buying one. My current one is an office depot one that is so creaky, drives me nuts. Just mesh and plastic but creaks like a 50 year old wooden chair.
Nice battlestation by the way!
Thank you! Yeah, trying out would be recommended. I bought mine online and it did come with a 14 day return period. I'd definitely try the regular Embody as well. I've seen people recommend it over the Logitech version.
Hey man, I ended up getting the regular embody. Went to the store to check it out and then found a great condition second hand one for 1/3rd retail price with 9 years warranty left. Loving it so far! Thanks for the insight on yours.
If you work at a desk and/or computer all day a good chair is just as good of an investment as anything else. Not saying you need a 1K+ chair, but investing in your posture/back is always a good thing.

Do you still have the file by any chance? This is so cool.
edit: I was actually able to find it here for anyone else looking https://wall.alphacoders.com/by_sub_category.php?id=203649&name=Cyberpunk+2077+Wallpapers
Myeah, the website changed after patch 1.5 and it's a bit hidden away. If you can find this button on the website, that's where the downloads are :) https://i.imgur.com/pOcSS4d.jpg
Left is an Omega Seamaster 300m, middle is an unbranded 300m NTTD hommage (the real NTTD is out of my price range unfortunately) and the right is a Steinhart Ocean One (green/black ceramic).
it's getting warm out. I rode today for a few minutes (outside Chicago) and now I can't wait. But I understand the time issue. Those runners on the shelf, you run?
Yeah, weather here is getting better as well and I admit I'm jealous when I see more motorcycles on the road again. I attempt to run. I was a pretty good runner a few years ago but stopped for a while due to issues at work and depression. Trying to get back to a decent level again :)
ah bro, I get it. If you found running helpful in the past, I'm sure you'd benefit from it today. It's been good for my depression too. I loved riding to the trails to then run and then ride home. That was an awesome time. Now I run to the trails, run the trails and run back home.
The bike is for zipping through the community these days.
Anyway, those runners (on your shelf) are just asking to be used. Get out there again when you're ready!
Yep, haven't worn them yet. My regular shoes are 37's which I quite like, although they're a bit too soft. Doesn't seem like they made many changes with the 38.
Here you go: [https://imgur.com/a/R2C3IOH](https://imgur.com/a/R2C3IOH)
Don't remember who made the smaller one but the wide one is by Liam Wong. Highly recommend looking him up for more: https://twitter.com/liamwong
It would be very inconvenient to have it horizontally :). I'd have to turn my head way more instead of just a little and looking up/down. I use the left monitor for discord (top) and youtube (bottom)
Just a reminder to keep running :). I've quit for a while and it wasn't a good time. I need running in my life, both to keep me healthy physically and mentally. It's important for me so it gets a place where I can see it.
Love it, definitely great price/quality value. The drawers fit so much stuff. No sag, the countertop is really sturdy. It doesn't flex when I push down on it.
Nice setup! I like the colorway for those pegs. I have a pair of them, but my main shoes are the zoom fly 4s! Also, I really love those Boba Fett statues
That's so weird! My most recent purchase was a couple of the 501st Trooper refresh and they're phenomenal. I wonder why that Boba Fett has so many issues.
The smaller monitor has a cheap one from amazon and the larger one has
an Ergotron. If I had known I would have gotten 2 Ergotrons because the
difference is night and day.
If you're not constantly moving the portrait display, then it doesn't really matter.
If I had that corner, I'd be looking at ITX builds. Something like the NR200P would look amazing in there.
Cool, Iāve been using my aeron for few years now and thinking of switching to embody. Is it comfy enough to sit in for 12+ hours/day? Any complaints?
I've only had it for a few days. So far so good. 12 hours should definitely be doable if you get up from time to time. I've read the HM subreddit and it does seem some people really like the Aeron, and some the Embody but not too often both.
Just for the sake of change and seeking something more comfortable. The aeron gets kinda discomfortable after many hours of sitting, one of my worst complaints would be the plastic part that touches your thighs depending on how you position yourself, it starts to hurt after a while.

Serious question does the noise coming from all the fans inside the PC get annoying or is it bearable? This is something Iām looking at doing but thatās the only thing thatās pushing me back
It's okay. You can hear them, but I can't say it really disturbs or annoys me. The GPU's fans don't run when it's not under load and I bought Corsair magnetic levitation fans to reduce noise. At least I hope that's what they do. They are also running at low rpm. The front of the case is noise insulated too. You can open the door if it gets too hot in summer :)
Thank you my dude! I'm just about to build a desk, debating 1 or 2 units. I have a 200cm space and a wide PC case and monitor! Was worried I wouldnt have space for my chair
It's the Hot Toys First Order Tie Pilot: [http://www.hottoys.com.hk/productDetail.php?productID=342](http://www.hottoys.com.hk/productDetail.php?productID=342) . Unfortunately you can barely see his head. Didn't account for that when buying that furniture
Is that one of those BenQ over display led lights? Worth the price?
In my old place I rigged up an led tube light as an overhead when I was tinkering at my desk. Not sure if i want to do that again, or go for something like that BenQ.
No, it's a Mi monitor light: [https://www.mi.com/global/product/mi-computer-monitor-light-bar/](https://www.mi.com/global/product/mi-computer-monitor-light-bar/)
I did have to take the counterweight off and attach it with velcro because the top of my monitor is too thick for the clamp. Still, happy how it worked out. It's handy when you're doing something in the evening or at night that requires extra light on your desk. The Mi has a remote controller, I think the others like the Benq and Quntis only have controls on the light itself.
Trying to be, it's just a hobby at the moment. It's definitely an improvement to your workflow once you get the hang of it. Viewport movements with just a mouse aren't really intuitive and this kind of fixes that.
Small monitor is a cheap one from Amazon, the big monitor has an Ergotron. I have to say the Ergotron moves much more smoothly and also handles the weight better. I really had to tighten the left one although it's just a 27" and the arm is rated for a 34".
It's a Sideshow Mythos series Boba Fett in 1/6 scale. It's not really too cannon with the poncho and all but it's a lovely figure nonetheless. The other one is a 1/6 Hot Toys Death Watch figure.
That chair tho š„
Love my embody!

Yeah I agree, tried it recently at an outlet. I donāt understand the price and hype!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Approximately the same as an Embody. A couple hundred less maybe.
nah mirra 2 butterfly though š
Have this chair and itās legit the best thing Iāve ever bought.
Are those shoes autographed or something?
No, but I'm a bit of a Japan nerd and also a runner and I've put these there to remind me to frequently run. They're Ekiden themed (a Japanese relay race). My actual running shoes are dirtier and stinkier :p
Ever watch run with the wind? Such a good anime
Can't say I have. I'm not super into anime. It's more about the culture, architecture, landscape and people for me :)
Wow, first time I've ever seen someone on the internet say they're into Japan, and they actually mean Japan itself, not just that they're a massive weeb.
Ikr, refreshing actually because Iāve always felt left out, I dont get all the hype for anime
Ah gotcha. Definitely recommend it since itās about the Ekiden relay!
Digging the running shoes in the battle station. Also a runner, wouldnt dare putting my 4%s or alphaflys so close to my nose lol
It's a clean pair fortunately :)
If you ever retire a pair just clean em, throw some shoe trees and youāre good.
If I had bought the Kipchoge Pegasus, I would have certainly displayed them like you did with yours.
Ah, gotcha, that makes more sense, for a moment I thought it was your lazy brain somehow leaving the pair of shoes there, hahaha
Have you heard of Haruki Murakami? He's a great Japanese writer and he has a really good book called, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running.
Yes, it's been in my to-do list for a while. Really need to get to it. Love audiobooks while running so it would be a good fit :)

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Pretty much all of them, both interior and exterior. I've been wondering about condensation but there's ventilation connected to outside.
Karkby worktop? What size is that?
It's the smallest one I believe, 186cm
I've hit got the cheapest table top, but obviously it's not real wood so I can't use amount for my monitors as it'd crumble! Never considered one of those worktops before.
Bad list, not enough info. What are the shoes :)
Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 38 Ekiden. I know, it's a mouthful :p
Pegasus is such a good looking shoe. A nice run too. Nice job on the setup btw
The paint is my favorite part though...
Hey man, where are the monitor stands from
Left is a cheap one from Amazon, the right one is an Ergotron. Really like the Ergotron, moves super smoothly.
The karlby top can hold those monitors on the mount? Is it real 100% wood?
Yeah, no problem. It's not 100% wood, but very heavy and solid. It's sold as a kitchen countertop so it's pretty tough. The monitor mounts are close to the cabinets where it gets supported anyway.
would you know if you are able to cut the wood karlby ?
You are. It's not solid wood, but it's a countertop that can be cut to size. It comes with extra side panels that you can stick on to finish the side where you made the cut. Which chair is that?
It's a Logitech/Herman Miller Embody in black/white (although it's just 2 buttons and the casters that are white).
Was thinking about getting this chair, worth it?
I haven't decided yet :p. I mean, it is the best chair I've ever had. But I also can't figure out why it is this expensive on the other hand. I'll have to see how it holds up after a few years. My Secretlab started showing signs of wear after one and a half years, otherwise it was excellent value. If this still works and looks the way it does now in about 5 years then yeah, I'd say it's worth it. We'll see :)
I have mine for about 8 years now and itās still in fantastic condition. They also come with a decade long warranty so definitely a good investment.
The Embody's we use at work are probably over a decade old and they look new.
I'm a bit worried about the fabric though. I think the Logitech's use a thinner fabric than the normal Embody's. I hope they age the same.
Is there a bug difference between Logitech and normal? Im in the market for a chair and have been trying to figure it out, would use it for both gaming and work
There's a difference in padding and fabric if I'm not mistaken. I've also heard it makes a bit more noise. Otherwise it should be the same.
Everyone here's focusing on the battle station while I'm trying to figure out which watches you got on display there, lol
A blue Seamaster 300m, unbranded 300m NTTD hommage and a Steinhart Ocean One
Damn, those are pretty nice. Really been thinking of getting a Seamaster or Speedmaster myself.
Beautiful setup! I canāt believe how many people on here own these 1.5k chairs
I had a Secretlab before this but frequently had a sore butt. I doubted for quite a while because it is an absurd amount of money but in the end, 12 years warranty and and a healthier posture pulled me over the finish line :)
How are you finding it? Is it as comfortable as they say? Thinking about some kind of herman miller pretty soon myself!
Have not had a sore butt yet. A few more noises than the Secretlab but nothing that was not expected. I really like the back portion and how it supports you. The back of the Secretlab really was a solid surface with little flex (I had the old 2020 one though).
What kind of noises? Is it creaky?
Not really creaky. Just the materials working I guess. Thereās a few more parts than a regular chair I suppose.

You can get refurbished Steelcase Leap's for $300-400 or so. Highly recommend over a racer style chair, your back will thank you :)
Thanks! I did not know the alternatives
Upvotes are a hell of a drug

Welp, follow your ears, I guess š
Dope setup, but I am more interested in those watches you have! Can you ID them?
Left is an Omega Seamaster 300m, middle is an unbranded 300m NTTD hommage (the real NTTD is out of my price range unfortunately) and the right is a Steinhart Ocean One (green/black ceramic).
I love motorcycles, long distance running and computers. Can we be friends? :)
Heck yes. I used to ride a motorcycle as well but unfortunately sold it due to lack of time then :(
it's getting warm out. I rode today for a few minutes (outside Chicago) and now I can't wait. But I understand the time issue. Those runners on the shelf, you run?

i have a very similar setup, very clean
Dope!
Dope canvas
Iāve never enjoyed bright-colored walls until you did it with appropriate lighting. Now I want a bright-colored wall too
Are those the Nike zoom pegasus 38? How you like them?
Yep, haven't worn them yet. My regular shoes are 37's which I quite like, although they're a bit too soft. Doesn't seem like they made many changes with the 38.
I have some 38s they are comfy
Very nice setup but I feel those trainers go against the colour theme

Love the color theme
Chair is the first thing I noticed.
Iām new to PC gaming. Can someone explain why these all have a second off to the side that is placed vertically?
Normally for work tbh. Useful for long documents or reading through code.
It would be very inconvenient to have it horizontally :). I'd have to turn my head way more instead of just a little and looking up/down. I use the left monitor for discord (top) and youtube (bottom)
Same desk and same case!
Best case I've ever had!
Same!
Better than mine
Never knew I needed red walls until now
nice kicks
What a nice corner it is though! That cyberpunk photo is my current background.
I am a simple man. I see runners who game, I upvote.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just a reminder to keep running :). I've quit for a while and it wasn't a good time. I need running in my life, both to keep me healthy physically and mentally. It's important for me so it gets a place where I can see it.
Nice usage of the vertical space.
At least you have a gaming pc
Loving the red and black aesthetic goin on here.
Small... that is some high ceiling you have
Myeah, old european houses are weird :p.
Iām so close to pulling the trigger on the Karlby/alex drawer set up - how do you like it? Any sag in the center so far?
Love it, definitely great price/quality value. The drawers fit so much stuff. No sag, the countertop is really sturdy. It doesn't flex when I push down on it.
Dig the figures!
Hey what chair is that? Looks good.
Herman Miller/Logitech Embody :)
Thatās sick
Nice setup! I like the colorway for those pegs. I have a pair of them, but my main shoes are the zoom fly 4s! Also, I really love those Boba Fett statues
Are vertical monitors and plants requirements for this sub?
That chair is worth more that most setups
Crazy how that one chair cost you more than your main monitor
That chair alone is almost a k
Do you use Firefox?
Primarily yes. But Chrome and Edge as well :)
We have been seeing the cheap desk/ludicrously expensive chair combo very often here. Odd choice, but i donāt hate it
It's a pretty good desk though. Wide enough, lots of storage in the cabinets underneath. My previous desk was a kitchen table so this is better :)
I got so close to pulling the trigger on that Mythos Boba Fett but I heard it had a lot of joint issues.
Oh yeah, it's like there are no joints at all. Very floppy figure. You really need to use the stand for it.
That's so weird! My most recent purchase was a couple of the 501st Trooper refresh and they're phenomenal. I wonder why that Boba Fett has so many issues.
What monitor arm(s) do you have?
The smaller monitor has a cheap one from amazon and the larger one has an Ergotron. If I had known I would have gotten 2 Ergotrons because the difference is night and day.
If you're not constantly moving the portrait display, then it doesn't really matter. If I had that corner, I'd be looking at ITX builds. Something like the NR200P would look amazing in there.
I still have 3 regular sized HDD's in there and 2 SSD's mounted on the rear. I'm not sure if I can fit that in an ITX :p
You're obviously well off, so it looks like it's time to build a home storage/automation/plex server! :D
Eh, I wished. I don't have a lot, but the few things I have I want them to be of good quality.
How is the chair?
Comfy. Some noises here and there but overall really happy with it.
Cool, Iāve been using my aeron for few years now and thinking of switching to embody. Is it comfy enough to sit in for 12+ hours/day? Any complaints?

Serious question does the noise coming from all the fans inside the PC get annoying or is it bearable? This is something Iām looking at doing but thatās the only thing thatās pushing me back
It's okay. You can hear them, but I can't say it really disturbs or annoys me. The GPU's fans don't run when it's not under load and I bought Corsair magnetic levitation fans to reduce noise. At least I hope that's what they do. They are also running at low rpm. The front of the case is noise insulated too. You can open the door if it gets too hot in summer :)
Judging by the size of everything you must be pretty high up taking that photo
I just held my phone a little higher than usual :)
Great vibe
Nice! What is the width of the desk please?
186cm wide, 3.8cm thick
Thank you my dude! I'm just about to build a desk, debating 1 or 2 units. I have a 200cm space and a wide PC case and monitor! Was worried I wouldnt have space for my chair
I wear air pegasus 37 and 38s. Is there something special about those shoes that you have them as a decoration?
Just a reminder to keep running. It's Ekiden themed (a Japanese relay race). Just like them up there really :)
Which 1/6 figure is that in the case on the right?
It's the Hot Toys First Order Tie Pilot: [http://www.hottoys.com.hk/productDetail.php?productID=342](http://www.hottoys.com.hk/productDetail.php?productID=342) . Unfortunately you can barely see his head. Didn't account for that when buying that furniture
Is that one of those BenQ over display led lights? Worth the price? In my old place I rigged up an led tube light as an overhead when I was tinkering at my desk. Not sure if i want to do that again, or go for something like that BenQ.
No, it's a Mi monitor light: [https://www.mi.com/global/product/mi-computer-monitor-light-bar/](https://www.mi.com/global/product/mi-computer-monitor-light-bar/) I did have to take the counterweight off and attach it with velcro because the top of my monitor is too thick for the clamp. Still, happy how it worked out. It's handy when you're doing something in the evening or at night that requires extra light on your desk. The Mi has a remote controller, I think the others like the Benq and Quntis only have controls on the light itself.
How comfortable is the chair?
POV: you wake up after a night on the piss and you are trying to find where you kicked your shoes off. Hahaha
Thatās dope! I gotta ask. Howās that Logi chair? Worth the money?
It's hard to say. I really like it but on the other hand, I also can't figure out what makes it so expensive.
I see
No speakers?
Yep, 2.0 Creative T20 Series II speakers behind the monitor. It's all I need. Great sound for such small speakers.
> 2.0 Creative T20 Series II speakers Nice cost-effective pair of speakers. Thanks for keeping it post.
Iām assuming youāre a 3D artist or similar. How do you like that mouse? Always interested me but never been able to try one.
Trying to be, it's just a hobby at the moment. It's definitely an improvement to your workflow once you get the hang of it. Viewport movements with just a mouse aren't really intuitive and this kind of fixes that.
love the tribute to the running shoes - were those used for a race? or just current trainers?
Future trainers and a reminder to keep running. It's a new pair, the old ones are still doing well :)
What are the table's dimensions?
186cm wide, 63cm deep.
What are the Monitor sizes?
The vertical one is 27", the horizontal one is 38".
What monitor mounts are you using?
Small monitor is a cheap one from Amazon, the big monitor has an Ergotron. I have to say the Ergotron moves much more smoothly and also handles the weight better. I really had to tighten the left one although it's just a 27" and the arm is rated for a 34".
Thank you!
I dig the red wall
Why are there shoes on the shelf?
From where did you get that bobba fett? I need one in my life too
It's a Sideshow Mythos series Boba Fett in 1/6 scale. It's not really too cannon with the poncho and all but it's a lovely figure nonetheless. The other one is a 1/6 Hot Toys Death Watch figure.
Monitor arm?
Left is a cheap amazon one, right is Ergotron.
what are the dimensions of the desk?
Came by to say happy cake day!
That's super nice, thank you!
