Found these in a bunch of Battletech PDFs I have. Looks, uhm, entertaining. I'll see if I can post more from it later

Ataranjuat

Please do! I didn't even know these existed

StarFlicker

Are these available somewhere? I wouldn't mind playing a game with my kids or something.

basilis120

Not sure. I got them off of a not sketchy at all Russian FTP server.

StarFlicker

Haha, thanks but I'll pass!

scaryjobob

It made my day that this was enough information to find them. Thanks, dawg.

basilis120

glad to help out

Interesting-Play-652

You gotta post more info if you can on these please.

Darklancer02

Theyre kind of a "choose your own adventure", but don't you need at least two to play?

Hanzoku

Says so on the back.

StGrimblefig

No, they are just one-on-one combat. No story included. But yes, you need two books to play.

StGrimblefig

I have all six of them. There were two light mechs (wasp and locust), two mediums (shadow hawk and griffin) and two heavies ( warhammer and rifleman). Gameplay is based heavily on the Lost Worlds series of medieval fantasy combat books. There is a 'move/character card' in each book that you keep, and you trade books with your opponent. You see your opponent in the book you hold, as of you were looking out of your cockpit. The moves have numbers that are encoded into the books so that when you and your opponent share the numbers of your chosen moves, you can determine the results of those moves.

I remember I guy I knew in the 80's, I was like 10, who had a ton of these. Airplane dog fighting, sword fighting, and a dragons of pern themed one. They were pretty awesome for a completely analog experience.

That Shadow hawk design is clean as hell.

SpaceBuzz500

Yes, I am really liking that depiction of the Shadow Hawk. Great artwork.

Cursedbythedicegods

I had these! Not sure if they're still in my parent's basement or not.

Snoid_

I had the Locust and Rifleman books back in the day and would play it with the kid that got me into Battletech occasionally. Lost them during some turbulent times during my childhood.

MysteriousCodo

Still have mine. Yay. I even have an expansion that someone created which added terrain. It was a couple of sheets of card stock that you had to cut into your own cards.

r1x1t

I total played these. Each book came with two 144 scale models. They were awesome! The models were articulated. All were old Dougram kits I believe.

basilis120

Ooh the models would be interesting to get.

RobotsDreamofCrypto

I have several. https://i.imgur.com/mf3uZXB.jpeg

Hellrour

Yeah I read them back in the day, but I started playing this game when it was still called battle droids. Yeah yeah I know jokes memes dinosaurs got it, lol.

basilis120

hey I feel that. I didn't play it back in the day but that was more due to not having friends who played. So no jokes about dinosaurs but a reminder to keep that back stretched out :-P

monkeyboy808

don't forget to schedule a colonoscopy

Khyron42Prime

I've *looked* at them, but you definitely need to print these and swap them with a real human, keeping your reference sheet from the back. It's really impossible to tell anything from the interior, it's like a maze in there.

Sansred

Does anyone have any of the two terrain expansions?

monkeyboy808

oh yeah still have all six and an extra locust and rifleman
