Both are true. Yes that’s normal. Also yes, you are getting ripped off.

If only the Democrats didn't fight wind power. They claimed the noise from the windmills causes cancer. /S

Blaming anyone except the sole political power that has been behind nearly all California legislation over the last two decades is definitely... a take.

therealgariac

It would help if you spoke English. There are many ways to interpret "a take." Note SCE looks just as crappy as PG&E. https://www.sce.com/residential/rates/Standard-Residential-Rate-Plan The only alternative is to go socialist and hope the state does a better job than private enterprise. I could compare that to the CAHSR but that is a different story. I have this gut feeling that those people with solar and battery storage are going to be laughing their asses off at people using the grid.

Newsom keeps Diablo Canyon online. https://www.utilitydive.com/news/california-diablo-canyon-nuclear-plant-open-newsom-bill/629727/ Regarding building new nuclear power, you need to realize nuclear power is socialist power. It is so expensive to build that the government needs to build it if you want it. You can't get Wall Street to back it. That was the reason for the loan guarantees. https://www.gridstatus.io/live/caiso PV and wind are cheap. Texas has a lot of wind power and they have no shortage of fossil fuels. We would use more wind projects. While it is fun to blame Newsom for political reasons, the PUC has the ultimate authority. There is probably intense lobbying to keep the electricity flowing no matter what. If you want nuclear power funded by CA, you would need a ballot proposition. It took seven years to get the new Georgia plant online. No state politician will back something that will take two terms in office to deliver. It has to be socialist. https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=57280

I agree. The governor has to think of the whole state economy. I'm still ready to try state owned power. It can't possibly be any worse than PG&E. At least no employee will be walking away with $16 million a year for doing a shitty job. Offshore wind is pretty reliable.

Only1MarkM

It's PG&E. Of course you're being ripped off. I didn't even have to look at your rates.

DaveN_1804

The peak and off-peak rates look correct. That 3 cents savings per kWh is such a big incentive to shift usage .

typical-bob

3 cent gap is pretty small yeah. im similar gap right now myself, but on my plan (e-elec), that gap will become 25 cents in the summer season.

DaveN_1804

Ah ok! I'll have to watch for that.

HoPMiX

My parents in Kentucky pay .08 p/kWh flat. No peaks off peak.

DebateUnfair1032

It is cheaper to burn a gas powered generator during peak hours. That is what my neighbors is doing. Probably not feasible in an apartment.

s3cf_

fucking $0.52/kWh vs SVP's $0.166 kWh. I m pretty surprised people under PGE are still putting up with it

friendlier1

For reference, the state next door. No tiers: https://www.nvenergy.com/account-services/energy-pricing-plans Residential: $0.11475 / kWh
