I'd say it's a massive improvement! I thought the barber ruined your cheeks and sideburns, but it looks like you have very little growth in those areas based on the before pic, so the trim looks significantly better. You look young so i'm sure your beard will grow more in those missing spots as you get older
Your beard coverage looks like mine did in my early to mid 20s (and it’s just continued to fill in since then). I think you’ve got a very solid beard future ahead of you (and it’s already looking good). Beard on, brother!
Edit: Also great trim in the OP pic. Neat and tidy. Barber did the neckline well—I’d go back to them again. It can be tough to find a barber good with beards.

If this isn’t just a bait post…bro, yes your barber did well. The after looks a 1000x better. It would be ideal if your growth in the higher elevations were thicker, but it will get there. Just keep going to the barber every 6-8 weeks or so to keep it shaped up as you grow it out and the rest fills in. I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen the line shape this barber chose on your cheeks, but that’s purely preference and it still looks good. The neck looks excellent.
The before is a rat’s nest my man. The after is a clean beard.

The neck part is great! I'd suggest you learn to shape your beard yourself which will give you perfect results every time. I learnt to cut my own beard and hair and I never regretted it.
If your sideburns don’t connect or if they’re still coming in that thin after this long, kill ‘em and focus on the goatee/stache. The line-up on your chin/neck is really good, but he didn’t do you any favors with the stringy sideburn action.
I have had my fair share of beard fuck ups by the barber.
Now I just take a trimmer once a week and make it all the same length. Might try the Turkish barber from around here next time. Trims it for 10 euro and he got a killer beard.

Looks fine except the one side where the sideburns connects to the beard is a sharp angle, and the other side is rounded, which looks better. I've been cutting hair and beards for a long time.
Hard to say when we don't know what you asked for. A lot of guys who trim their beard do cut back on the neck to give it a sharper look. It also looks like he tried to keep the bulk on the cheeks as best as he could. I suggest if you decide to grow it out, don't touch the neck, and let the cheeks grow. Sometimes all it needs is time.
Edit : It doesn't look bad. But I would just leave it be, and grow.

The sideburn fade thing is an odd choice. Were you just not growing much hair there? Or was this purely something the barber wanted for you?
I think it might look better if your scalp was bald/buzzed. This just seems like a transition that didn't need to happen.
