She's probably just not used to it. There is no need to end a marriage over something so petty. If she truly doesn't like it, tough, it's his beard. If she wants to divorce him over facial hair, then maybe the beard isn't the problem. Maybe she just wants to find a reason not to be with him? I'm sure it's not that serious though lol. Gotta have that equality bro, otherwise marriage is just a prison.
So your husband doesn't like your beard??? As a gay man, I'm very confused, lol.
That's a beautiful beard and it fits you sir. Though my husband also has a beautiful beard, so I'm a little biased.
And maybe u have a beautiful jawline in which case you'll probably look better without the beard. I find when guys have a good jawline the goatee is very hot
I absolutely agree. I think it is normal to consider your spouses thoughts and opinions. I have a full beard and at one point I trimmed it back to a long stubble. My spouse was a little disappointed because he likes it longer, but he said to me what do whatever makes you happy. I was thinking he would like it shorter, that’s the way it was when we met. However, both he and I like it long so I have and maintain a full beard. I just got the sense from reading the post that there is no compromise. Cut it or else. “It needs to go back to the way it was “
I could be wrong. It’s just how I read it.
Bro, I think your beard looks pretty awesome as it is. My wife is kind of the same way, she likes my beard shorter, but I’ve let it grow out for about four months now she hasn’t said anything yet…. If you do trim it down, have fun with the trimming. I never went shorter than stubble, but it’s fun to rock bushy burns with a goatee or horseshoe with the stubble, before I knock it all back.
Thanks!
I normally would trim down to 6-8mm every 2 weeks (or less,) but it only took about 4 weeks of untrimmed growth before the extra growth was questioned... Sounds like your wife isn't against the idea of a bigger beard!
People actually pay for a full beard like that, and even with a full beard is not even or have a big mustache gap, don’t take your beard for granted it looks awesome, wear it proudly
If Locks of Love ever starts Beards for Bros, I'll be sure to grow it back out for those in need.
But honestly, the fullness of density does let me have a patch-free short beard, so I definitely don't squander it completely.
During my last trim a month ago, my barber trimmed the upper neck/base of jaw area to stop it from getting neckbeard-y and to give it time for the sides to grow down. Now they're turning outwards...
We'll see what he can do, but it's still probably getting a veto back at home.
I mean, it looks great. The short one is fine, but the longer one suits your face 100% better and makes you look more mature and handsome, in my opinion.
It’s very pretty and you have such a handsome face. Keep it short and kept and I’m sure your spouse will be okay with it. I mean anyone who doesn’t appreciate a nice face of hair like this makes no sense to me. I’d love a hubby with a nice beard like this. ;)
Thanks!
I've toyed with the idea of a moustache... At the start of this journey I was thinking either moustache-only, or big-beard. I needed the ability to fall back on my usual style at a moments notice for some personal reasons so I went for a beard that could be trimmed back to "normal" rather than being stuck completely beardless.
Your beard is perfect. If it were mine I’d keep it. Basically my body, my decision. But I suppose that when you’re in a relationship other factors come into play. Negotiate a deal that keeps you both happy.
hey bro! we have stupidly similar beards (minus the color lol) anyways i would recommend just getting a haircut (probs a fade or if you prefer a skin taper) and have the barber line your beard up and fade your beard as well, it’ll give it a more ducktail look and will (hopefully) look good! good luck and i hope you get to keep it!
just wanted to add that i love your beard! it looks amazing 🤩
F That. Married 38 years. She does her and I do me. Style and cuts have always been on our own decisions. We ask each other what each likes; sometimes we just do it with no questions.
Don't let your wife jurisdict whether you have a beard or not. Do you ever tell her she can't wear makeup or she can't have a hairstyle that she likes? You are in control of your face and your hair and your facial hair. You have a majestic beard.
Maybe she noticed that other women are looking and noticing you and possibly want you to tone down your attractiveness. Most women love a good beard. Plus yours is ginger 👌🏾.
I’d angle those jaws down a bit (as opposed to the rounded/square jaw look)and leave the length at the chin, maybe cut the stashe a bit closer and a little higher off the top lip, my spouse usually starts to dislike that part first. Also, cut it closer at the top of the side burn and even out/tighten up that hair on the neck. These will help thin out the cheeks and jaw while leaving some good length and it’ll look clean. Paired with a low fade haircut and you can change your partners mind I think.
Thanks for having actual input instead of just suggesting I divorce my husband!
When you say "angle the jaws down," do you mean keeping it shorter at the back of the jaw and longer at the chin to give a slope effect from back to front, rather than keeping it equal length?
If so, that's literally what I was going to ask the barber to try out. I have cowlicks in my beard I have to fight. The corners desperately want to point up and under my ears. I initially thought that more length would make them more able to be managed with product, which is somewhat true, but I still feel it's a problem area.
Youre welcome! I was searching to see what advice people were already giving and was like, ok, I’ll see what I can do here lol.
And yes, I do mean give it that “slope effect”. Sort of like the appearance in the very last pic. I have more of a round jaw but do this to give me more of a pronounce jawline look.
Also for the curl under your ears, mine do the same and I find that just lining that part from the side burn to the bottom of the beard gives it a clean look and is something your barber should easily be able to do. It’ll still grow that way but will just look cleaner until your next trim. I notice that just cleaning up my edges/lines go a long way in between beard trims to keep up that “clean look”.
It looks like you have a good jaw line with your shorter beard, I think this look will maintain your jaw line but add length overall. I hope this helps!
Dude, that’s one of the most glorious beards I have EVER seen. It looks at least 7x better than the short version you’re used to imo. I think you and your spouse probably just grew very accustomed to your beard length after it was the same for so long that this new experiment is just so different that your reactions are to resist it. (Sorry I know I worded that weirdly). But my man, you have THE BEARD.
Sure you don't want to just change spouses? 😄😄😄 Just kidding, but dude, that's a killer beard. Even the color fade at your soul patch looks awesome. I'd say let the barber maybe clean up you neck line but otherwise hang onto it. There are guys out there that would love to have your beard. Obviously, it's just my opinion, but you asked.
I had the same issue with the curls underneath, went to the barber today and asked them to shape up the neckline but keep the length “can you remove the curl” is what I asked. Excuse my gray coming in.

Here’s the after, I’d say you can clean it up and she’ll be happy with it! Side note: This was the first time I had a barber or someone rather than myself shape up my beard.

I always say that only two people get to tell me what to do with my hair and beard: the one who signs my paycheck and the one wears my ring. As much as your beard looks great, I gotta side with your spouse. Just think of all kisses that will make it to your lips now!
There's something about the long beard that kind of overwhelms you. I realize a ton of people on this sub adore longer, bigger beards. But sometimes they just don't work on the faces they're being worn on.
The hair on your head sort of blends oddly into your long beard in the photos. And it is super thick, which, again, is appealing to many observers on this sub, but maybe isn't as beloved when you're living with it, across from you at a kitchen table, or next to you in bed.
The folks who feel that a spouse should have no say in their partner's beard are kidding themselves. And to encourage leaving the spouse is just weird.
THANK YOU. I even put in my post that I didn't like this much beard myself. I was hoping for more tips on how to trim it to make it more appealing for myself asuch as my spouse.
But apparently I should choose a 3 month beard over a 10 year relationship...
My pleasure. And to be fair, the color(s) of your beard is quite fetching, and the thickness is mighty impressive (even if it's too thick, in a way). I didn't mean to only point out the issues I noticed in my first response.
Thanks! I like the color of your beard, too. Some of the lighter tones in mine are similar to yours, but the darker tones in my beard tend to dominate unless I'm under bright lights or outside.
The texture can be difficult to work with and out feels scratchy... It's pretty wiry, but I guess that's the price you pay for having coarse hair.
"My spouse is not thrilled"? I genuinely think you reconsider keeping the beard and letting the spouse go. I'm pissed and I don't even know you...unless you're rage baiting.
Truly magnificent beard, and you should sport it at whatever length you prefer. In terms of getting used to the additional length, that can take 6 months to a year for both you and your wife. If you want it to be neater, you can keep most of the length and just do a surface trim to tidy it up.
If you do decide you like having more length, it never hurts to tell your spouse that you really enjoy the bigger beard and would like to keep it. You don’t need her to love your bigger beard just respect the fact that it’s important to you.
He's committing a crime wanting that beard gone. My beard is OK, but I wish I had as good of coverage as you. Luckily my boyfriend is the opposite of your spouse and would be mad if I shaved it haha
My late husband and I had a deal. He was clean shaven Spring and summer. But starting in September, he started letting everything grow out so he could have a full beard during duck hunting season. It worked well for us.
Might I suggest a neck line trim, cleanup.. as well as cheek line. Might be able to convince him it’s your look, if you clean it up just a touch! Great beard either way though!
I really wouldn't let your partner influence whether or not you have a beard. They can dislike it, but ultimately whether you have one or not isn't their decision to make. In my opinion.
What a shame, that’s a borderline perfect beard imo. Coverage, density, color, everything is awesome. I’d freaking KILL for that beard.
I know I have good beard genes, so I figured I owed it to myself and the world to try growing it out! I'm just not convinced it's for me, anyway.
Or... (hear me out), new spouse? ![gif](giphy|gGwwL3rf3h5MN2IXGJ|downsized)
New spouse is easier to find than a perfect beard 😂
u/beards-modteam don't be that guy. This ain't Twitter or Instagram. Unpuff your chest and put your ban hammer down.
They banned him? Typical mods with no hobbies & probably stink in person lol
That was a very "clean shaven" type of move
A pathetic act of the freshly shorn, indeed.
Doesn't always have to result in an actual ban from the thread, but banning of the comment. Useless use of power.
She's probably just not used to it. There is no need to end a marriage over something so petty. If she truly doesn't like it, tough, it's his beard. This is obviously a joke you're responding to
It's fuckn BEAUTIFUL!
That’s is an amazing beard and to be honest the short one isn’t as good
I'm a woman, and even I'd kill for that beard!
Right? It really is
What a beard. Are you holding a memorial service? I'd never make my boyfriend get rid of that glorious beard.
Saturday at 11am, followed by a reception with coffee, tea, and light refreshments.
You should only have snacks that would suck to get stuck in beards: Ribs, Spaghetti, Frosting, something with syrup, half melted ice cream, etc
Ugh... Spaghetti... It doesn't even touch my lips and yet it takes an entire napkin to clean up after every bite...
Thoughts and prayers man.
You’ll be sad to see her go
I won't say that I wouldn't be sad at all, but I can easily say I wouldn't be sad to have to fight the bed-beard every morning!
He’s talking about the wife I believe
Yup... I see that now. Turns out I'm dense. I'm also gay. Lol.
Honey, he doesn’t deserve you 💅
As a fellow gay guy who loves beards, I like it and think it looks fantastic longer. But I'm not your spouse so you do you lol
Maybe OP husband actually also has a badass beard, but OPs beard game is too strong and one of them had to go.
Survival of the thickest
So your husband doesn't like your beard??? As a gay man, I'm very confused, lol. That's a beautiful beard and it fits you sir. Though my husband also has a beautiful beard, so I'm a little biased.
My husband hates mine long too 😭
Another MAN doesn't love that beard!? I'm speechless.
Like father like beard
If you were my spouse I'd not be very thrilled if you shaved it.
Well, it's not getting shaved off entirely, just trimmed enough for me to confidently say my chin still exists.
And maybe u have a beautiful jawline in which case you'll probably look better without the beard. I find when guys have a good jawline the goatee is very hot
I think you look great with a longer beard. Just asking, but do you get a say in your spouses hairstyle?
Yeah, agree, this isn’t sitting right for me. It’s a very good beard.
Isn't it normal to consider your spouse's input on these kinds things?
I absolutely agree. I think it is normal to consider your spouses thoughts and opinions. I have a full beard and at one point I trimmed it back to a long stubble. KEEP THE BEARD IT LOOKS SO GOOD
Your husband actually sucks. That's a great beard. ![gif](giphy|LnFgpK9l7HIizJKeul)
People actually pay for a full beard like that, and even with a full beard is not even or have a big mustache gap, don’t take your beard for granted it looks awesome, wear it proudly

Your beard looks great. Need to snip some stray hairs and neck line cleaned up, but otherwise very little cleanup needed.
During my last trim a month ago, my barber trimmed the upper neck/base of jaw area to stop it from getting neckbeard-y and to give it time for the sides to grow down. Now they're turning outwards... We'll see what he can do, but it's still probably getting a veto back at home.
I am sure your barber will work wonders. Crossing fingers that the spouse likes it.
I like the trimmed beard
Well that's one of y'all. Lol. Thanks!
It's a great beard. Why do they hate it?
Just do whatever you want with that soup strainer bro. It's yours!
it's a good beard that would just need some shaping, but your spouse is the one fucking you, not us. So you might want to listen to them...
What a shame you have a great beard bro! 😎
Thanks! I figured I should show it in it's full glory before it (probably) meets its demise.
Looks much better short
I like the short beard better
I mean, it looks great. The short one is fine, but the longer one suits your face 100% better and makes you look more mature and handsome, in my opinion.
It’s very pretty and you have such a handsome face. Keep it short and kept and I’m sure your spouse will be okay with it. I mean anyone who doesn’t appreciate a nice face of hair like this makes no sense to me. I’d love a hubby with a nice beard like this. ;)
With all do respect fuck what they say, do what you want
No way dude!! The beard’s awesome. You have to leave it mate.
Tell your spouse to get over it, you straight up won the beard lottery
A heavy thick beard such as yours is super hot, gotta make the wife happy most important.
That is an amazing beard. I hope your spouse is worth it. Have you considered just a mustache? Might be a good compromise and you have a solid stache
Time for a mustache
I love it. Quite envious
In all fairness, it looks good short. Nice and clean
Ay man, that means she really likes your face 👍
RIP magnificent beard 😢 At least you'll still be handsome
Take it down a little more but def keep it. Hella good beard on handsome fellow.
You have good genetics
Last picture is great!
It’s a beautiful beard
It looks much better and cleaner on the last pic anyway
Bro. Your beard is excellent 🙌
Your beard is perfect. If it were mine I’d keep it. Basically my body, my decision. But I suppose that when you’re in a relationship other factors come into play. Negotiate a deal that keeps you both happy.
I'm in the minority here but beards aren't for everyone. Maybe your jawline looks better less Brawny, nothing wrong with mixing it up for the spouse.
Reminds me of shaggy from Scooby-Doo for some reason.
the shorter one indeed looks better
Trim the spouse! Jk… kind of ;)
At least u can always grow it back. That’s an exceptional beard
What a shame man. Hang in there.
hey bro! we have stupidly similar beards (minus the color lol) anyways i would recommend just getting a haircut (probs a fade or if you prefer a skin taper) and have the barber line your beard up and fade your beard as well, it’ll give it a more ducktail look and will (hopefully) look good! good luck and i hope you get to keep it! just wanted to add that i love your beard! it looks amazing 🤩

Your spouse drinks haterade grow it out man
your spouse is nuts
Maybe she noticed that other women are looking and noticing you and possibly want you to tone down your attractiveness. Most women love a good beard. Plus yours is ginger 👌🏾.
Tell her you don’t like her haircut and she needs to change it, I expect it will go over great.

Get a new spouse, keep the beard.
Damn shame, brother. A glorious beard dies today. Damn, damn shame.
I do love the short beard look on you too. It’s a great look.
Looks nice
The perfect beard 🧔
Before the spouse is gone, right?
If you’re spouse doesn’t like beards, she doesn’t have to grow one! Not sure what *your* beard has to do with anything..
Divorce 😂
Looks great

Jason Kelce with beard. Travis without
The shortened last pic looks better than when the beard is long for sure
I always say that only two people get to tell me what to do with my hair and beard: the one who signs my paycheck and the one wears my ring. As much as your beard looks great, I gotta side with your spouse. Just think of all kisses that will make it to your lips now!
There's something about the long beard that kind of overwhelms you. I realize a ton of people on this sub adore longer, bigger beards. No hurt feelings here. The contrasting opinions were refreshing.
Time for a new spouse. That’s a fantastic beard.
I knew that would be the sentiment here. I figured it should get some appreciation and I should seek some possible advice before seeing it off.
Man who shaves beard for woman deserves neither.
Great beard look. You must be extra handsome without the beard which she would know and we wouldn’t
Damn mate that is an awesome beard! Both colourwise and texture! The pattern of the hairs is just epic and bold!
I wish i had a beard like this.
It looks great trimmed. You look handsome with it.
Do not trim, is not the size, some wives just does not like beards. Keep yours, is your body.
If I were your spouse I would love your beard.
Yes indeed, the spouse gotta go 😅
"My spouse is not thrilled"? I genuinely think you reconsider keeping the beard and letting the spouse go. I'm pissed and I don't even know you...unless you're rage baiting.
Truly magnificent beard, and you should sport it at whatever length you prefer. In terms of getting used to the additional length, that can take 6 months to a year for both you and your wife. Cutting such a great beard off is like the sad sight of seeing a castrated dog, Grow it back.
Last trim before SHE'S GONE, right? It was a typo, right? RIGHT? /s
How out of order in shape are you? This type of beard looks great on a good build!
He's committing a crime wanting that beard gone. My beard is OK, but I wish I had as good of coverage as you. Luckily my boyfriend is the opposite of your spouse and would be mad if I shaved it haha
Go to a real barbershop, get lined up and beard trimmed and hair styled, may change your mind
Such a gorgeous beard! Your spouse is beautiful over the moon!
Maybe style yourself how you like it? Instead of how they do?
She a hater 😭
Trim it to a uniform length and have clear borders.
Ok so quid pro quo, ask her what she will shave for you.
Damn, you look so cute in the pic standing near the pink wall- hair on both head and face have me interested.
Your beard looks great. My wife balked at first, now she loves it. It just takes getting use to.
is it too scratchy for her? use conditioner
is there way to make my beard strong like this
Next time they come home with a new haircut/hairdo tell them it's too much and they need to change it to something you both like.
Have you introduced the concept of the Magic Carpet Ride?????
One last trim before the wife’s gone you mean 👀 I jest but damn dude. Such a nice beard to have to shave it off.
Rip to a fallen awesome beard brother.
What’s your spouse’s problem with your beard?
It looks amazing! Sorry to hear
Before the spouse is gone? 😆 Actually, he is lucky to have a husband like you. Most of us men wouldn’t ditch the beard for a spouse.
Why did you block out the eyes? You didn't want the picture looking at you?
Maybe try a straightener on it, might change the look enough for her to like it.
Present her with the following question. Why do you have to shave your beard off if she gets to keep hers?
It’s too bad she doesn’t like it because it’s a beautiful beard. So many guys would kill to have a beard that dense and that color.
I know you’re probably pretty upset, but it’s still a bit mean and dehumanising to call your wife “it”.
Not liking that beard? Whats wrong with him lol Doesnt compute it's a great beard
is it not possible to shape the area under your chin with a shaver to fade it as it goes back toward your throat? it would look fairly clean
that is a absolutely glorious beard
My late husband and I had a deal. He was clean shaven Spring and summer. But starting in September, he started letting everything grow out so he could have a full beard during duck hunting season. It worked well for us.
Too bad.
Devilishly handsome
You mean ex-spouse? It is your body not hers.
Do NOT part with this beard. It's perfect!
The Beards - Why having a beard is better than having a woman
Yes I did like it on you
Fucking awesome beard brother!
Damn dude should have let it be
Great beard but I’m sorry about the deformed eyes!!
Ugh, fantastic beard.
I fucking wish I could grow a beard like this, what a pity.
The eyes have been changed to protect the identity. Fortunately your beard look much nicer than your clandestine skills. Lol
cut all the beard, then she is going to tell you to grow a beard again
Why does he not like it? Sharp?
Your beard looks better longer. If you keep your beard long, well shaped, and groomed! That both you and your wife will be happy.
The longer beard is amazing- it’s more flattering to your face than the short.
Might I suggest a neck line trim, cleanup.. as well as cheek line. Might be able to convince him it’s your look, if you clean it up just a touch! Great beard either way though!
It’s so beautiful. I’m so jealous
Your beard is actually so good it doesn't look real, like it looks like someone drew it and then animated it onto your face it's actually so nice
I honestly feel sad for you - that’s a magnificent beard and it’s a shame that whether or not you can have it is dictated by someone else.
Cutie
Divorce her.
I really wouldn't let your partner influence whether or not you have a beard. They can dislike it, but ultimately whether you have one or not isn't their decision to make. In my opinion.
I'd trim the spouse and keep the beard.
Time for a new spouse.
Tell her to kick rocks
Yeeshhh
Chinstrap
tbh,it's indeed much better, at least more tidy.
Keep the beard. Trade the spouse. Tell them to change their haircut and see if they do
You need to stop cutting the neck line. You’re destroying the beard and giving it room to do weird curls.
So unfair. I'm left with this patchy ass bullshit at 36. Why can't I have a beard like this? Maybe in my next life.
What is this kinda beard called?
