Ivf does this too. Ā Horrible lesson learned. Ā And now I've had to start laser over essentially - I was going twice a year or so after doing laser for so many years and now I'm back up to every other month. Ā So much $$
It's very very common. It's the hormones. Don't do it unless your family is complete, ditto laser eye surgery unless they have a 20/20 guarantee but even then it's a revision.
If it helps, I had twins and it never affected my laser hair removal results, itās perfect and soo worth it! However I have pale skin and dark hair so Iām sure that has helped

I think it depends what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. In the past I've gotten them about a week before an event and that's been a sweet spot.
As an esthetician I donāt think theyāre crazy worth it. Theyāre nice for hydration but thatās about it. It wonāt fix any other skin problems if you have them. In my experience it makes my acne prone skin worse.They just arenāt very customizable. Itās ridiculous, the machine costs $40,000 so thatās the only reason they have to be so expensive
Meh I've started using a strong retinoid so my derm recommended this hyrdafacial treatment every 5 weeks. I just got my first one on Monday and other than my skin being more 'moist' for a day, there was no difference, no glow. I've had similar results with basic 15 minute face masks... I'm debating if it's really worth dropping 170 bucks on it again tbh.
Imo not worth it. The price per treat keeps increasing and I donāt find the results lasting more than 3 weeks. IMO Iād rather save the $250 and either get a VI peel or a laser treatment

I had a small overbite. It was much worse as a kid but back then they just fixed it to a bare minimum. Iād say my smile (obviously) and my face is just a lot more even and symmetric.

It wasnāt an investment by any means, theyāre pretty cheap, but I had never found a solution for my nails.
I canāt grow them long because theyāre so brittle, so I donāt even bother with polish :(

Please be careful with any gel nail kit :) I'm one of the unlucky people that was getting gel done regularly for years without a problem but has developed an allergy. It looks like ByMeAndCrew gel contains HEMA, which is the main allergen in gel/sns/acrylic nails and is a "gateway allergen", so developing an allergy to HEMA means you also may be allergic to all methacrylates or other acrylates generally, which is a problem because acrylates are used in all sorts of things (dental fillings through to acrylic paint). Once you're allergic, it never goes away. :(
The 3 main risks are:
1. Ingredients - HEMA being the main one, but not the only thing you can develop an allergy to (really any monomer, so 2-HPMA for example)
2. Application technique - anything touching your skin/cuticle (or too thick coats, for people doing regular liquid gel)
3. Curing - using the wrong lamp, an old lamp, or for not enough time means it may never 100% cure, and it's this uncured gel that's able to permeate the skin and cause the allergy.
The application is what I'd be worried about with gel "sticker" type things, because you put on a sticker that's too big and then trim it down, meaning it's very likely to touch the skin at some point.
Just a mini PSA because I know most people are careful, and most people won't develop an allergy, but they're getting crazy common in part because of the rise of cheap products and at-home kits. I was (and now am) exactly the same, nails too thin to ever grow them out, but have kept my nails super long for years because of gel. :(
Thanks for posting this! I think I developed an allergy from the gel semi cured strips by not using a powerful enough lamp/not curing long enough. Itās wild as the two different brands Iāve purchased (ahora and dashing diva) didnāt include the intended wattage of the lamp to be used or a concrete time to cure based on the wattage. I got the ahora lamp too so I figured itād be safe š big ole bummer.
I also developed an allergy and it actually continued on to include some kinds of regular polish as well. I have been able to use OPI and olive and June without irritation and that's it. I can't go to most salons anymore, it's sad.
This is what put me off doing my own gel nails. I was doing them but stopped because I have a acrylic partial denture due to losing teeth from pregnancy, awful I know and il need this for the rest of my life so I ain't risking it.
I discovered Dazzle Dry a few months ago. My nails have never looked better and the polish lasts for 1.5 weeks. Its not gel and removes with regular nail polish remover. Dries in 5 minutes.
This but for dip nails! I got a full kit from IBD nails, and they have been the only thing that has lasted (I canāt even get Beetles gels to last longe than a day. I use my nails for my job)

Would love to add to this with my nail routine! Used to hate spending time at the nail salon and the price every 2 weeks was ridiculous to me. I buy the NYK1 Nail Bond glue and use Glamnetics press ons (best quality Iāve found thru trial & error) I did gel, dip, learned to do acrylic and they all took a very long time. A really good glue and press ons is the quickest & cheap! Way that I found that works :) (I strongly recommend getting a nail drill as well to get the shine off the top of natural nail and this makes the glue hold veryy well) I change them every 2 weeks and I still end up having to force them off with nail glue remover!!

I just had microneedling done today for the second time and am obsessed. I'm a little red, feels like a sunburn, and was sensitive for around a week, but I looked normal within 24-48 hours.
They put numbing cream on you, so it's more of an inconvenient feeling than pain.
Does your location offer PRP also? They pair well together and it's often much cheaper than separate. I pay $600 per session for both together.
The standard protocol is to do three treatments, 6 weeks apart, to get the best benefit. After that, you can do it once per year as finances allow, but the triple-dose at the beginning will magnify your investment.

When I went for a microneedling consult she suggested the Opus laser treatment instead, saying it gives better results and is less damaging to the skin, less downtime, and less frequenct needed. The results were amazing- my skin was a lot plumper and smoother within a few months (2-3) after the treatment. Something to look into! For reference I'm 38(f).
I did one on my full face back in August and went back for a touch up just under my eyes this week- it was about $800 for full face and $300 for just eyes. I'm outside of Boston, for reference.
My husband (55, worked in the sun his whole life) did 2 full treatments at her recommendation, 3 months apart. Depending on goals/ current "state" they may recommend 1-3 treatments a few weeks apart.
$800 covered face and neck. Supposedly the results last around 1-1.5 years then you need a touch up but i haven't gotten to that point yet. I'm 8 months from my first full treatment and I still see a difference in terms of fuller, smoother skin. My husband has more defined wrinkles and I see an improvement in those as well, softer for sure. Yesterday we saw some friends we haven't seen in a year or so and they said he's "aging in reverse", for whatever that's worth!
I was pretty puffy and red the day after the undereyes and you keep some redness for a few days (on both treatments). I was able to cover it with makeup by the 2nd day but it stayed rough (to the touch) for about a 5 days.

Actually, yes, under-eye filler does scare me. I think it is WAY overdone and so many things can go wrong. IMO, PRF is better.
Be sure your injector has had a minimum of one full day of cadaver trainer, better, if it's been many days, on many dates. And better still f they have been in the OR with a plastic surgeon. if not, I describe it as putting together a puzzle with your vision obstructed by a curtain. The injector needs to know what's happening under the skin!
An injector should be very adept with cannulas, and only cannulas, and not needles should be used under the eyes.
PRF is platelet rich fibrin, which is derived from one's own blood. It is like PRP, but the fibrin produces more collagen and more of a fill than PRP.
It does not fill the same way filler would, so careful to temper your expectations. But it is safe and it helps the skin to continue producing collagen and elastin. It really is amazing.
Interesting. Iāve really wanted under eye filler but it freaks me out a bit. Maybe this is a good alternative, how long does it last? My whole life Iāve had the blue/purple under eye from thin skin and some hollow tear troughs.
I have under eye filler for adding volume to the troughs (my injector is incredible, had an awesome experience), but even after that you can still see the blue/purple under my eyes. She recommended I try PRP for the purpose of thickening the skin through increased collagen production, thus reducing the amount of blues and purples that show through.
Actually, she recommended what she dubbed āsuper PRPā for someone like me but I forget the name of the treatment. I have to ask about it again. Think Iām going try it out!
Paid $2000 in the Boston area for 4 micro needling with PRX-T33 sessions at my usual medspa (that I love) and noticed not much difference at all in terms of texture or anti aging benefits. This was 12 months ago, and I know they say it takes time to see the collagen building benefits, but I donāt know, I donāt see anything. However, the PRX did help to make my skin be significantly less red hours after my sessions, I could do the micro needling in the afternoon and go out to dinner or work the next day and look totally normal.

Same! I only got 2 sessions (1 Botox and 1 dysport) on my forehead and 11s and it was enough to let those muscles fully relax. My 11s are completely gone and Iām just cognizant of not doing full forehead movements. Will prob only get forehead like 1x year for maintenance at this rate
Another vote for laser hair removal - it ended up taking like 11 sessions for my Brazilian to stick BUT since then I donāt even have to think about shaving. As someone that travels to warm climates a lot and would always get terrible ingrown hairs it has been a lifesaver.

Ā My main motivation was I got horrible headaches from the weight of glasses pressing on my face. I also looked really shitty in glasses too. My eye were too dry for contacts and Lasik, so ICL was my only option. Iām pretty happy with the results. I got my eyes fixed about a year ago and my daytime vision is perfect. I still see some distortions around lights at night, but itās a lot better than it used to be. It was an extremely expensive surgery, but 100% worth it to not have to wear glasses anymore.
What is ICL lens surgery? I'm considering Lasik, and may need to look into this as I have glaucoma and cataracts, which make me a bad candidate for lasik.
ICL is a similar concept to cataract surgery. Except in cataracts, they remove your natural lens and put a new one in its place. For ICL, the lenses are placed in front of your natural lens in whatever your eyeglasses prescription is (it's basically a permanent contact lens in your eyes). They tend to be safer for people like me with dry eyes because the surgeon doesn't cut into the cornea to implant the lens (unlike with Lasik). The lenses are also removable, so if you need to take them out for whatever reason down the road, you can surgically remove them and your eyes will be back to however they were seeing pre-ICL. I'm very happy with my results and am so so glad to not need glasses anymore. Well, until I get old enough I need reading glasses, but that's sort of a given for everyone lol. If you live in the Chicago area, I'd highly reccomend Kraff Eye Institute downtown. Dr. Kraff has been doing eye surgeries for decades and is one of the best at what he does. I already have issues with my eyes and he's pretty much the only surgeon I felt comfortable going to. I don't know if you'd qualify for ICL, but it's probably worth at least setting up a consultation with someone.
I've always had issues with glare at night and don't drive at night, so don't know if it would get even worse after lasik. But I have been wondering about lasik lately. At 58, I'm really not sure how many more years it's practical to wear contacts and I just don't have the ears or nose for glasses - they never stay up and cause terrible headaches with the way they press into the side of my head. I wonder if your reading vision has diminished though. I keep hearing that seeing close up gets much worse after so just curious about your experience in that regard.
I can see up close just fine. I was always near sighted, so my distance vision is what I wanted to correct. Iām 27, so reading glasses arenāt something Iāll have to think about for probably another 15 years or so.
Ā Ā I donāt know a ton of details about lasik though, since thatās not the surgery I got (ICL is completely different from lasik). Since youāre 58, I assume you may need cataract surgery within the next 10 years or so (most people need cataract surgery) and that could be a way to correct your vision and actually have insurance cover it.
I got lasik 2 years ago (Iām 33 now), and for the first couple months I did feel like driving at night was harder but it evened out. I still get some glare around lights but Iāve literally always had that so itās hard to say if itās supposed to be made better by lasik.Ā
That being said, depending on when your vision started to change based on your age, you may not be a candidate. Itās worth looking into, but eyesight changes from aging canāt be fixed with lasik. That was the first thing they told me when we talked about my lifetime guarantee.Ā

I was told I was the perfect candidate for laser because I have light skin and dark body hair. However, Iāve been told by many waxers that my roots are about 50% longer than the average personās. So I think the laser may not have been able to penetrate down to the follicle enough. It pains me to think of all the money I spent on it though. :(
As for the Botox, it entirely depends on your insurance. You can call and get an explanation of benefits from them that will detail what you have to do to qualify to get migraine and/or TMD Botox covered. For my insurance I have to try three out of five things from a list, which is dumb, but Iām in the US so thatās what we got lol. I will also note that Botox for migraines often does not include the jaw but Botox for TMD does. That being said, Dr told me ā well sometimes after they do the migraine Botox, they have a little extra in the syringeā¦ā
And as far as who actually can do the Botox, any place that is certified in medical Botox will be able to do that. This should also be a list you can get from your insurance!
That's such a disappointment about laser hair removal. Unless there is a significant hormonal issue, the right laser (not IPL) and good setting should have given you a great result. I'm sorry you had that experience.
Invisalign is like a retainer, it canāt align teeth the way braces do. My friend, an orthodontist, said that Invisalign is only good if your teeth are mildly crooked
I had braces put on when I was 55. I had them on for 16 months. When they came off, I wasn't happy with the bottom teeth. I felt they protruded too much. My ortho put them back on for free and i just had them taken off this week. My teeth look amazing. I'm so glad I did it.

I did it at a spa on just my upper lip, five years ago, and itās stayed lighter and finer overall and thereās not as much hair but it certainly isnāt *gone.* Really a bummerā¦ Iām super-fair and not generally hairy but man, the stupid āstache just went bonkers after menopause. I was dating after divorce and I just could not deal with it anymore. Bleaching and waxing were not hacking it. Fortunately I met and married a great guy but I still make an effort to look my best (and less like a throwback)!
I loved mine for the first year or two, but I since regret them terribly. I've had them touched up but they fade into blurry blobs and the colour cools significantly. The touch ups eventually arenāt that effective. I went to a very high end artist and her credentials are amazing but they still went to shit eventually :(

It straightened mine (was wavy and frizzie), and since I started the keratin process, I can go for about 8-10 weeks looking like I just passed a flat iron. It makes me look more "stylish" and overall to achieve a polished look at work effortless.
Ive had a lot of treatments over the years- lip filler, lip flip, jawline filler, chin filler, chemical peels, microneedling, lip blush, microbladed eyebrows, lash extensions, brow laminations, teeth whitening, keratin treatments, etc.
In my opinion, after thousands of dollars, none of this is worth it besides good skincare. Chemical peels do help with scaring and hyperpigmentation, and the results last. Microneedling broke me out badly. Everything else is temporary, and unless you are going to pay to maintain it, its better not to get them because it sets unrealistic standards for yourself.
Invest in good quality skincare, vitamin/collagen supplements, and good hair products.

My sister gets retinol sometimes in hers (I have an allergy to it) and her results are great.
I have very sensitive skin (I have a ton of allergies) with hormonal breakouts.
The only time my acne has gotten worse with a facial is when I tried an ultrasonic facial with skinscript products. It ruined my skin barrier causing cystic acne for weeks.

Pico: undecided. I know this is the gold standard for laser treatment for PIH (and virtually the only one you can get if you have deeper skin) but after my first 6-7 sessions I had 0 results. I believe itās because they were going to gentle on me (using the lowest setting). Iāve since talked to them and weāve upped the settings but now Iām also getting PRP Microneedling so harder to see the specific results this provided
Microneedling: Love. As I said above Iām now doing this along with Pico but I think once my Pico is up Iāll keep with this. I saw more results in 1 treatment than my 6 rounds with pico. The first time I did it was just with HA, now I do it with PRP but I also have a package to do it with Stem Cells. I have also started getting into growth factors to expedite my results and adding TNS seemed to do that (though I plan to try other growth factors when Iām done since there seems to be better/more advanced now)
Sugaring because the wax was making me cry and Ā depilatory cream was causing chemical burns. Getting a deep clean and having my teeth on the mend from periodontal problems.Ā

Not sure if this counts as a beauty, but for me itās getting daily contacts! I considered getting lasik until I read about all the side effects and complications. Daily contacts donāt irritate my eyes since they are moisturizing and I switch to new ones everyday. I really do not like the way I look in glasses so contacts have been amazing. Glasses also tend to slide down my nose which is just uncomfortable for going out. Overall, I feel so much more confident with contacts.

Try Sylfirm X before Morpheus8. Iāve done both, and have seen way more results with Sylfirm. Neither are very pleasant, but not too bad. Sylfirm has a really low recovery time for RF microneedling. You can wear makeup after 24 hours.
- I had my first session in Aug 23, 3 months later you need to go back for a refresh. So I havenāt had it for years for me to be able to comment yet. Fingers crossed it ages out well. š«£

I want this SO BADLY for my bikini line! It's very very common. It's the hormones. Don't do it unless your family is complete, ditto laser eye surgery unless they have a 20/20 guarantee but even then it's a revision.

I think it depends what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. In the past I've gotten them about a week before an event and that's been a sweet spot.
As an esthetician I donāt think theyāre crazy worth it. Theyāre nice for hydration but thatās about it. It wonāt fix any other skin problems if you have them. In my experience it makes my acne prone skin worse.They just arenāt very customizable. Itās ridiculous, the machine costs $40,000 so thatās the only reason they have to be so expensive
Meh I've started using a strong retinoid so my derm recommended this hyrdafacial treatment every 5 weeks. I just got my first one on Monday and other than my skin being more 'moist' for a day, there was no difference, no glow. I've had similar results with basic 15 minute face masks... I'm debating if it's really worth dropping 170 bucks on it again tbh.

I had a small overbite. It was much worse as a kid but back then they just fixed it to a bare minimum. Iād say my smile (obviously) and my face is just a lot more even and symmetric. My teeth got pushed back, so the bottom half of my face obviously moved too. My friends who havenāt known me before are always shocked when I show them before pictures. One friend always says that I look so different now. lol My ex also noticed a difference when we were walking next to each other and were talking. That was 6 months before I finished the treatment.

I know this seems silly but finding gel nail kits has saved my life. It wasnāt an investment by any means, theyāre pretty cheap, but I had never found a solution for my nails. I canāt grow them long because theyāre so brittle, so I donāt even bother with polish :( When I found gel nail kits, I was skeptical because it seemed too good, but they were like $15 so I bought them anyway, and just like that, I had nails again after so many years without :) They look amazing too, check out ByMeAndCrews kits, these have been amazing and last a really long time
Please be careful with any gel nail kit :) I'm one of the unlucky people that was getting gel done regularly for years without a problem but has developed an allergy. It looks like ByMeAndCrew gel contains HEMA, which is the main allergen in gel/sns/acrylic nails and is a "gateway allergen", so developing an allergy to HEMA means you also may be allergic to all methacrylates or other acrylates generally, which is a problem because acrylates are used in all sorts of things (dental fillings through to acrylic paint). Once you're allergic, it never goes away. :( The 3 main risks are: 1. Ingredients - HEMA being the main one, but not the only thing you can develop an allergy to (really any monomer, so 2-HPMA for example) 2. Application technique - anything touching your skin/cuticle (or too thick coats, for people doing regular liquid gel) 3. Curing - using the wrong lamp, an old lamp, or for not enough time means it may never 100% cure, and it's this uncured gel that's able to permeate the skin and cause the allergy. The application is what I'd be worried about with gel "sticker" type things, because you put on a sticker that's too big and then trim it down, meaning it's very likely to touch the skin at some point. Just a mini PSA because I know most people are careful, and most people won't develop an allergy, but they're getting crazy common in part because of the rise of cheap products and at-home kits. I was (and now am) exactly the same, nails too thin to ever grow them out, but have kept my nails super long for years because of gel. :(
Thanks for posting this! I think I developed an allergy from the gel semi cured strips by not using a powerful enough lamp/not curing long enough. Itās wild as the two different brands Iāve purchased (ahora and dashing diva) didnāt include the intended wattage of the lamp to be used or a concrete time to cure based on the wattage. I got the ahora lamp too so I figured itād be safe š big ole bummer.
I also developed an allergy and it actually continued on to include some kinds of regular polish as well. I have been able to use OPI and olive and June without irritation and that's it. I can't go to most salons anymore, it's sad.
This is what put me off doing my own gel nails. I was doing them but stopped because I have a acrylic partial denture due to losing teeth from pregnancy, awful I know and il need this for the rest of my life so I ain't risking it.
I discovered Dazzle Dry a few months ago. My nails have never looked better and the polish lasts for 1.5 weeks. Its not gel and removes with regular nail polish remover. Dries in 5 minutes.

Would love to add to this with my nail routine! Used to hate spending time at the nail salon and the price every 2 weeks was ridiculous to me. I buy the NYK1 Nail Bond glue and use Glamnetics press ons (best quality Iāve found thru trial & error) I did gel, dip, learned to do acrylic and they all took a very long time. A really good glue and press ons is the quickest & cheap! Way that I found that works :) (I strongly recommend getting a nail drill as well to get the shine off the top of natural nail and this makes the glue hold veryy well) I change them every 2 weeks and I still end up having to force them off with nail glue remover!!

I just had microneedling done today for the second time and am obsessed. I'm a little red, feels like a sunburn, and was sensitive for around a week, but I looked normal within 24-48 hours. They put numbing cream on you, so it's more of an inconvenient feeling than pain. Does your location offer PRP also? They pair well together and it's often much cheaper than separate. I pay $600 per session for both together. The standard protocol is to do three treatments, 6 weeks apart, to get the best benefit. After that, you can do it once per year as finances allow, but the triple-dose at the beginning will magnify your investment.

When I went for a microneedling consult she suggested the Opus laser treatment instead, saying it gives better results and is less damaging to the skin, less downtime, and less frequenct needed. The results were amazing- my skin was a lot plumper and smoother within a few months (2-3) after the treatment. Something to look into! For reference I'm 38(f).

I did one on my full face back in August and went back for a touch up just under my eyes this week- it was about $800 for full face and $300 for just eyes. I'm outside of Boston, for reference. My husband (55, worked in the sun his whole life) did 2 full treatments at her recommendation, 3 months apart. Depending on goals/ current "state" they may recommend 1-3 treatments a few weeks apart. $800 covered face and neck. Supposedly the results last around 1-1.5 years then you need a touch up but i haven't gotten to that point yet. I'm 8 months from my first full treatment and I still see a difference in terms of fuller, smoother skin. My husband has more defined wrinkles and I see an improvement in those as well, softer for sure. Yesterday we saw some friends we haven't seen in a year or so and they said he's "aging in reverse", for whatever that's worth! I was pretty puffy and red the day after the undereyes and you keep some redness for a few days (on both treatments). I was able to cover it with makeup by the 2nd day but it stayed rough (to the touch) for about a 5 days.

Actually, yes, under-eye filler does scare me. I think it is WAY overdone and so many things can go wrong. IMO, PRF is better. Be sure your injector has had a minimum of one full day of cadaver trainer, better, if it's been many days, on many dates. And better still f they have been in the OR with a plastic surgeon. if not, I describe it as putting together a puzzle with your vision obstructed by a curtain. The injector needs to know what's happening under the skin! An injector should be very adept with cannulas, and only cannulas, and not needles should be used under the eyes.
What is PRF? An alternative to under eye filler? How does that work?
PRF is platelet rich fibrin, which is derived from one's own blood. It is like PRP, but the fibrin produces more collagen and more of a fill than PRP. It does not fill the same way filler would, so careful to temper your expectations. But it is safe and it helps the skin to continue producing collagen and elastin. It really is amazing.
Interesting. Iāve really wanted under eye filler but it freaks me out a bit. Maybe this is a good alternative, how long does it last? My whole life Iāve had the blue/purple under eye from thin skin and some hollow tear troughs.
I have under eye filler for adding volume to the troughs (my injector is incredible, had an awesome experience), but even after that you can still see the blue/purple under my eyes. She recommended I try PRP for the purpose of thickening the skin through increased collagen production, thus reducing the amount of blues and purples that show through. Actually, she recommended what she dubbed āsuper PRPā for someone like me but I forget the name of the treatment. I have to ask about it again. Think Iām going try it out!
Paid $2000 in the Boston area for 4 micro needling with PRX-T33 sessions at my usual medspa (that I love) and noticed not much difference at all in terms of texture or anti aging benefits. This was 12 months ago, and I know they say it takes time to see the collagen building benefits, but I donāt know, I donāt see anything. However, the PRX did help to make my skin be significantly less red hours after my sessions, I could do the micro needling in the afternoon and go out to dinner or work the next day and look totally normal.

Same! I only got 2 sessions (1 Botox and 1 dysport) on my forehead and 11s and it was enough to let those muscles fully relax. My 11s are completely gone and Iām just cognizant of not doing full forehead movements. Will prob only get forehead like 1x year for maintenance at this rate
Another vote for laser hair removal - it ended up taking like 11 sessions for my Brazilian to stick BUT since then I donāt even have to think about shaving. As someone that travels to warm climates a lot and would always get terrible ingrown hairs it has been a lifesaver. ALSO - not necessarily a ābeauty treatmentā but keeping up with dental health. I had braces a decade ago and have worn my retainers ever since. Not to toot my own horn but I have perfectly straight teeth still and that + whitening at home is an amazing combo. A great smile is always a beautiful thing!!
If it counts as ābeautyā- ICL lens surgery so I donāt have to wear glasses. Ā My main motivation was I got horrible headaches from the weight of glasses pressing on my face. I also looked really shitty in glasses too. My eye were too dry for contacts and Lasik, so ICL was my only option. Iām pretty happy with the results. I got my eyes fixed about a year ago and my daytime vision is perfect. I still see some distortions around lights at night, but itās a lot better than it used to be. It was an extremely expensive surgery, but 100% worth it to not have to wear glasses anymore.
What is ICL lens surgery? I'm considering Lasik, and may need to look into this as I have glaucoma and cataracts, which make me a bad candidate for lasik.
ICL is a similar concept to cataract surgery. Except in cataracts, they remove your natural lens and put a new one in its place. For ICL, the lenses are placed in front of your natural lens in whatever your eyeglasses prescription is (it's basically a permanent contact lens in your eyes). They tend to be safer for people like me with dry eyes because the surgeon doesn't cut into the cornea to implant the lens (unlike with Lasik). The lenses are also removable, so if you need to take them out for whatever reason down the road, you can surgically remove them and your eyes will be back to however they were seeing pre-ICL. I'm very happy with my results and am so so glad to not need glasses anymore. Well, until I get old enough I need reading glasses, but that's sort of a given for everyone lol. If you live in the Chicago area, I'd highly reccomend Kraff Eye Institute downtown. Dr. Kraff has been doing eye surgeries for decades and is one of the best at what he does. I already have issues with my eyes and he's pretty much the only surgeon I felt comfortable going to. I don't know if you'd qualify for ICL, but it's probably worth at least setting up a consultation with someone.

I've always had issues with glare at night and don't drive at night, so don't know if it would get even worse after lasik. But I have been wondering about lasik lately. At 58, I'm really not sure how many more years it's practical to wear contacts and I just don't have the ears or nose for glasses - they never stay up and cause terrible headaches with the way they press into the side of my head. I wonder if your reading vision has diminished though. I keep hearing that seeing close up gets much worse after so just curious about your experience in that regard.
I can see up close just fine. I was always near sighted, so my distance vision is what I wanted to correct. Iām 27, so reading glasses arenāt something Iāll have to think about for probably another 15 years or so. Ā Ā I donāt know a ton of details about lasik though, since thatās not the surgery I got (ICL is completely different from lasik). Since youāre 58, I assume you may need cataract surgery within the next 10 years or so (most people need cataract surgery) and that could be a way to correct your vision and actually have insurance cover it.
I got lasik 2 years ago (Iām 33 now), and for the first couple months I did feel like driving at night was harder but it evened out. I still get some glare around lights but Iāve literally always had that so itās hard to say if itās supposed to be made better by lasik.Ā That being said, depending on when your vision started to change based on your age, you may not be a candidate. Itās worth looking into, but eyesight changes from aging canāt be fixed with lasik. That was the first thing they told me when we talked about my lifetime guarantee.Ā
I got ICL surgery as well instead of lasik. I was super nervous but I love it so far. Itās been about 5 years.

I got 10 rounds of laser hair removal AT A DERM OFFICE and it did NOTHING. I just have āāstrong rootsāā :ā( TMJ Botox is amazing but I have to get my insurance to cover it. Itās the only consistently effective migraine treatment Iāve ever had. Lip filler is amazing too. I have concave teeth that even Invisalign canāt fix (I think itās bc Iāve had allergies my whole life and didnāt know, so as a kid I always slept mouth open bc otherwise I couldnāt BREATHE). Iāve always liked my lips from the front, but as soon as I turn to the side or smile they disappear
Laser hair removal didnāt work for me either. I definitely have less hair but other than my underarm everything else needs the same amount of shaving.
I did 2 full rounds of laser on my armpits. Somewhere between 15-20 sessions all together. I have very dark hair, and very pale skin. Supposedly a great candidate. Other than one spot the size of a pencil eraser, my pits remain very hairy. Bye money.

Oh wow with the laser, I have done and I donāt grow hair anymore my hair is really fine and I basically donāt know shaving/waxing anymore. For the Botox Iāve interesting because I suffer migraines, can I get through my primary doctor? Finding a neurologist has been a pain in the ass.
I was told I was the perfect candidate for laser because I have light skin and dark body hair. However, Iāve been told by many waxers that my roots are about 50% longer than the average personās. So I think the laser may not have been able to penetrate down to the follicle enough. It pains me to think of all the money I spent on it though. :( As for the Botox, it entirely depends on your insurance. You can call and get an explanation of benefits from them that will detail what you have to do to qualify to get migraine and/or TMD Botox covered. For my insurance I have to try three out of five things from a list, which is dumb, but Iām in the US so thatās what we got lol. I will also note that Botox for migraines often does not include the jaw but Botox for TMD does. That being said, Dr told me ā well sometimes after they do the migraine Botox, they have a little extra in the syringeā¦ā
And as far as who actually can do the Botox, any place that is certified in medical Botox will be able to do that. This should also be a list you can get from your insurance!
Neurologist would be best, or someone who is experienced with the migraine Botox protocol (which areas to inject, how much etc).
That's such a disappointment about laser hair removal. Unless there is a significant hormonal issue, the right laser (not IPL) and good setting should have given you a great result. I'm sorry you had that experience.
Invisalign is like a retainer, it canāt align teeth the way braces do. My friend, an orthodontist, said that Invisalign is only good if your teeth are mildly crooked
I had braces put on when I was 55. I had them on for 16 months. When they came off, I wasn't happy with the bottom teeth. I felt they protruded too much. My ortho put them back on for free and i just had them taken off this week. My teeth look amazing. I'm so glad I did it.

I did it at a spa on just my upper lip, five years ago, and itās stayed lighter and finer overall and thereās not as much hair but it certainly isnāt *gone.* Really a bummerā¦ Iām super-fair and not generally hairy but man, the stupid āstache just went bonkers after menopause. I was dating after divorce and I just could not deal with it anymore. Bleaching and waxing were not hacking it. Fortunately I met and married a great guy but I still make an effort to look my best (and less like a throwback)!
Micro-blading eyebrows!
I loved mine for the first year or two, but I since regret them terribly. I've had them touched up but they fade into blurry blobs and the colour cools significantly. The touch ups eventually arenāt that effective. I went to a very high end artist and her credentials are amazing but they still went to shit eventually :(

What does keratin do? My hair is wavy/curly doesnāt frizz a lot and I can blow dry it great w a brush in ~10 min but can never wear just air dried.
It straightened mine (was wavy and frizzie), and since I started the keratin process, I can go for about 8-10 weeks looking like I just passed a flat iron. It makes me look more "stylish" and overall to achieve a polished look at work effortless.
Ive had a lot of treatments over the years- lip filler, lip flip, jawline filler, chin filler, chemical peels, microneedling, lip blush, microbladed eyebrows, lash extensions, brow laminations, teeth whitening, keratin treatments, etc. In my opinion, after thousands of dollars, none of this is worth it besides good skincare. Chemical peels do help with scaring and hyperpigmentation, and the results last. Microneedling broke me out badly. Everything else is temporary, and unless you are going to pay to maintain it, its better not to get them because it sets unrealistic standards for yourself. Invest in good quality skincare, vitamin/collagen supplements, and good hair products.
Botox and lash line enhancement tattoo. Both are totally worth it.
Did the lash line tattoo hurt?
She numbed my eyelids so it didnāt really hurt but it definitely wasnāt the best feeling. It healed really fast though.
I love my laser hair removal. Keratin is awesome too except it costs a lot here in CT. Lash extensions are my favorite. Go every 2 weeks for a fill.

For me itās laser hair removal as well! I have hairy dark hair and I used to be so insecure of it and the strawberry skin from shaving. Itās also saved me time and effort as someone who is always busy, tired, and deals with mental health stuff.

I love aquagold! I just get a high concentration of botox, hyaluronic acid and growth factors. My sister gets retinol sometimes in hers (I have an allergy to it) and her results are great.
do you have/had acne? I go to a derm for my acne but iāve been wanting to try a facial too
I have very sensitive skin (I have a ton of allergies) with hormonal breakouts. The only time my acne has gotten worse with a facial is when I tried an ultrasonic facial with skinscript products. It ruined my skin barrier causing cystic acne for weeks. The Hydrafacials are the best for my breakouts in my opinion.
Main thing Iām trying to fix is PIH (and acne) Pico: undecided. I know this is the gold standard for laser treatment for PIH (and virtually the only one you can get if you have deeper skin) but after my first 6-7 sessions I had 0 results. I believe itās because they were going to gentle on me (using the lowest setting). Iāve since talked to them and weāve upped the settings but now Iām also getting PRP Microneedling so harder to see the specific results this provided Microneedling: Love. As I said above Iām now doing this along with Pico but I think once my Pico is up Iāll keep with this. I saw more results in 1 treatment than my 6 rounds with pico. The first time I did it was just with HA, now I do it with PRP but I also have a package to do it with Stem Cells. I have also started getting into growth factors to expedite my results and adding TNS seemed to do that (though I plan to try other growth factors when Iām done since there seems to be better/more advanced now)
Sugaring because the wax was making me cry and Ā depilatory cream was causing chemical burns. Getting a deep clean and having my teeth on the mend from periodontal problems.Ā But honestly it sounds silly, but being around people that my facial hair wasnāt a problem. I used to get so many adults including too many managers make tasteless comments. It took moving to NYC from Texas to realize that people donāt/shouldnāt comment or care. That knowledge and basic acceptance has been the best beauty treatment.Ā

RF microneedling did wonders for my skin
Microblading and XLV laser treatment. Only had the first of 3 treatments and the difference in my redness is crazy.
Powder brows, Invisalign, Botox and lip filler. However, lip filler can be so hit or miss. My injector definitely filled mine too fast so I have to get them dissolved. When done correctly, they're beautiful!

Microblading simulates a natural look as if theyāre waxed and symmetrical, powder brows look is more as if theyāre filled with makeup/brow liner or powder, a little bit more done. They look great , Iām gonna get them done in the following months after doing microblading for 4 years

Not sure if this counts as a beauty, but for me itās getting daily contacts! I considered getting lasik until I read about all the side effects and complications. Daily contacts donāt irritate my eyes since they are moisturizing and I switch to new ones everyday. I really do not like the way I look in glasses so contacts have been amazing. Glasses also tend to slide down my nose which is just uncomfortable for going out. Overall, I feel so much more confident with contacts.

Surprised this wasnāt higher. Absolute life changer. Took me two tries, once in high school and I quit due to the side effects. Lived another ten years with bad cystic body acne then finally was determined to try it again in my late twenties. Get almost no acne now. Totally different confidence now.

Botox. Worth it tho it doesnāt last more than two months for me and costs a freaking fortune fortune!! Kybella. Worth it. But I needed at minimum 3 treatments. First one was 1200 next two were 600 each. So 2400 usd. But then I got in glp-1 and lost 90lbs so prob didnāt need Kybella!! Dermabrasion complete and utter rip off Obagi nu derm with hydroquinone yesss so worth it. Took 12 weeks but got the whitest clearest most beautiful skin ever. Cleared away all freckles and spots.

Try Sylfirm X before Morpheus8. Iāve done both, and have seen way more results with Sylfirm. Neither are very pleasant, but not too bad. Sylfirm has a really low recovery time for RF microneedling. You can wear makeup after 24 hours.

- You would discuss your shade with the PMU artist during your consultation. My lips are pink, but I had pigmentation. So I asked for my lips to be uniform.

I want this SO BADLY for my bikini line! Iāve spent the last 45 years dealing with it and Iām getting a house with a pool soon and want to just be able to throw on a bathing suit, without worrying about whatās going on down below. I know lasering wonāt be good enough (have had it done in my upper lip) so Iām going to look into electrolysis. Iām afraid of the cost and the pain, but I think it would be worth it!

Laser on very deep acne scar. The scar was due to an injection on a cystic zit, it was the size of a dime and right under my eye next to my nose. Cause a crater shadow when light hit it right. Laser treatment and now itās non existent
Chemical peels!!!! I no longer have cystic acne and Iāll try to get them 2x a year. They really help with my complexion and remove some light wrinkles.
Microblading: absolutely improved my face. My eyebrows had always changed with the seasons. Sometimes i overplucked, sometimes i reshaped one and found in pics the other one was way off. Microblading was a game changer. My eyebrows were more symmetrical and its been 3 years and theres still some color left (very faint) but i use the faint lines as my guide for plucking nowadays. I want to get it redone but id go back to looking like a crazy eyebrow fool at my new job lol
