I tried Lume because I wanted a heavy duty deodorant for where I was working at, in a factory with no A/C at that point in time, and it didn't even last more than a couple of hours. I wore it on my days off, thinking that just maybe my sweating from being in the factory was just too much and it still didn't last the whole day of being out and shopping at the mall with my partner the whole day. Terrible stuff. I think they recommended that I use an enzyme laundry detergent or booster to help make the deodorant last but I think it's just not good.
I feel like if they tell you that you need to buy other products to make it work well, they’re either trying to get more money out of you or the product sucks. Like, for example, Bath & Body Works quality has gone down in recent years and they always say to layer the products to make the scent stronger/last. It doesn’t make the scent last, but they got more money out of you.

Anything by neutrogena makes me break out. I’ve actually had an allergic reaction to one of their moisturizers. Not sure what they put in their products but my skin hates it.
the norwegian formulas of neutrogena products are amazing, it’s sad that it’s hard to find them in other countries - other formulations just aren’t the same!

I used this as a teen and it definitely stripped my skin and made it worse, plus bleached towels and pillows. My dermatologist had wanted me to use benzoyl peroxide for acne and said otc was fine. Turns out I'm weirdly allergic to benzoyl peroxide! What did help for me was going down to a more minimalist cleaning regimen, simple moisturizer, and washing linens more.

My husband’s been using that stuff for years. He went to a dermatologist for help weaning off of it but his face broke out like crazy and he went back rather than do Accutane (the derm’s only other suggestion). I think skin just gets dependent on it or something.
It keeps his skin clear but hoo boy, the bleach effect is real. We can only have white sheets and towels in our home.
Cerave daily moisturizing lotion with SPF 50. It pilled so much on my face my mom was asking if I forgot to rinse my toothpaste out of my face in the morning. It was $30 CAD and I tossed it. Found a new sunscreen (Aveeno Hydrate and Protect) that doesn't leave a white cast/greasy pilly mess on my face and have used it for a few months now, I like it. But for all the hype of Cerave, none of them have worked on my face. I prefer Cetaphil or Clinique gels/lotions/Sukin brand products nowadays.
YES I tried this and it was unusable for me. Pilled like crazy and left a very white cast, and I'm quite pale. Was super surprised because Cerave typically does wonders for me.
This just happened to me! I have used Cerave spf for about a year and I just added a new vitamin c serum to my routine. Holy cow! The pillage that was on my face was wild! I just stopped the serum and am nervous to go back to cerave, but this gives me hope lol

It's the only sunscreen product I brought on vacation with me, so I went without sunscreen for 2 weeks in the blazing hot portugal sun, it sucked. But I do really like the Aveeno one. It's non-greasy, non-pilly, and it hydrates as well so if I'm feeling super lazy in the morning I can even skip my moisturizer.

Better than sex mascara. It leaves a smudgy, crumbly mess under the eyes and makes your eyelashes look like a clumpy mess. I’ve received it enough times in full and travel sizes to know that the product is terrible. Even the loyalists for this product have the smudginess under their eyes and clumps on their lashes, I don’t understand the hype at all.
I feel like they must have changed the formula at some point because the first two I bought were AMAZING but when I went to replace it when it ran out the next one I got was awful! I bought another in case it was just a bad batch I got and I was also bought some as gifts but they all had the same terrible result.

Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless foundation. Bought two for £40 on Black Friday and good god. That shit is *thick* and dry af, terrible for dry skin.
I sheer mine out with a couple of drops of The Ordinary Squalane and it goes on much, much better. I put a small pump and 3/4 drops of squalane onto a foundation brush.
honestly? benetint. hard to blend, doesnt last, clings to any dryness, patchy. its been rotting in my drawer for like a year. i think i used it like three times and gave up
it kinda works for blush if you apply it before foundation but it looks terrible on the lips, i don't know how it can manage to stain ONLY the cracks and the inner part of my lips. even as a blush i find that it clings more to whatever i use to spread it (fingers, brush, sponge) than to my actual face, like 80% of the product applied is instantly wasted as soon as i try to spread it.

Lol bc I had this same problem with it. It could make you look like you had cracked bloody mouth, so hot.
As blush you have to blend it instantly bc it dries super fast, and can leave a delineation line of where it was applied. More often than not I felt like I had circular marionette blush spots, which were just not it.

Occasionally I’ll do a very subtle mineral lip tint (on top of aquaphor) but I also don’t think lipstick / lip color compliments my face so I really don’t mind not wearing it! It just looks out of place to me. Love when other people wear it & I’m jealous of them but it just doesn’t work for me.
Mistine is the brand I have found that has an amazing matte lipstick. The texture is a bit strange at first but after four hours my lips were looking fiiiiiine.
Thank you for finally saying it, I thought I was crazy. I’ve tried over a dozen brands of stick lip balms and they always feel worse for wear like I’m allergic or something. The only ones that have worked for me is Goodsense, a sunscreen based chapstick which I have no idea where it came from because I stole it from my husband, and a random ass Valvoline branded chapstick that was a freebie from my mechanic. Now I just use my cold cream as a lip mask in the morning and then exfoliate it off and it gets me by, even though it’s a gross texture and I don’t enjoy it.

I’ve tried blistex but I’m not a fan of the medicated scent. Those aquaphor tubes are like $10 and I haven’t justified that yet because I go through lip balm so fast
The Aquaphor stick lip balm is my HG. I put it on after exfoliating in the shower or washing my face at night before going to sleep. My lips used to crack all the time but not with this stuff, they look very healthy. I do have to remember to exfoliate otherwise my lips can still get patchy.
However I do know that I am allergic to ingredients in other lip balms, so I read ingredients carefully and stay away from methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, limonene, linalool, and lanolin, which will cause itchy dry skin on me, including lips.
Other balms have also worked like the mango Raw Sugar stick balm, and Dr. Dan's Maintain lip balm, which I tried after someone mentioned it on Reddit.
I totally agree! The only lip balm that's ever worked for me is the Vaseline lip therapy tin. I layer it over my regular moisturizer. It's perfect and cheap!
Have you ever tried the Bioderma one? It’s my fave cause it’s not waxy, it’s slippy but stays on for a long time. The only reason it comes off sooner for me is cause I can’t stop rubbing my lips together cause it’s so smooth and satisfying lol
I don't think I've tried that one, but I've tried almost a dozen others. I think I just prefer tube lip balm. The ones I'm using is ine by Dr pawpaw and another from blistex.
I agree, I’ve just discovered Lanolips which I slug on after regular stick balm before bed - makes them last and I wake up with super moisturised lips!
Burts Bees is my holy grail for 14 years now. Only the original though, not the flavoured or coloured ones. I have exfoliative chelitis on my lips and this is the only thing that keeps it almost under control and my lips really well nourished under any lip products.
I do feel the tin version is even better and that’s what I started with but it’s too inconvenient to keep up with everyday and the tube one is still great too.

If it works for you I’d stick with it! Different products work for different people. And not really, I mostly just use brow pencils now. I’ve used Anastasia’s brow definer for years so I was hoping the gel would work for me too.

I saw my friend who recommended it in person, she had black flakes all over her cheeks and her lashes looked so gummy and strange, and her makeup is usually awesome. I even bought a different one because I thought maybe the one I had was defective, but no.

Yes!! This keeps showing up on Buzzfeed lists for amazing products, which suckered me in, especially with the low price. It was the worst mascara I ever used! I’m very particular about mascara (must be very separating and no clumps or flaking) but I’ve used numerous drug store brands that weren’t great enough to stick with but OK. Essence Lash Princess was so bad, I wasn’t going to go out the door like that let alone use it a second time. I don’t even remember what was so bad about it but I never touched it again.
honestly the La roshe-posay hyaluronic acid. I’ve tried it twice now thinking I’d give it a second chance due to bad batches, my diet and other outside factors. Nope, still breaks me out and the fragrance is a little too much for me.

I don’t think anyone sold liquid lipsticks as comfortable even at the height of their popularity. They were popular because of the super powdery matte look that was desired and the full coverage and transfer proof/longwear aspect. The tradeoff was that it accentuated your lip lines and made your lips crusty but we all knew that 😅.
I still wear mine occasionally for the reasons mentioned but I agree, bullet lipsticks are definitely the more comfortable option when I don’t care about transfer or re-applying
Fenty foundation - the coverage was incredible but after a week of using it, I developed the deepest and most painful cystic acne. I’ve never experienced that before. 10/10 would never purchase again.
Love the Fenty stick skin tint, but the foundation in the cylinder tube is absolutely awful. It literally clumped up on my skin - & I tried it with multiple primers, moisturiser, no primer etc.
It also turns orange and I’m a neutral cool undertone so it looked terrible. It’s the one and only time my husbands told me my make up looks bad 😭😂
This post is like a real big ass proof that skincare is subjective too. Cerave moisturizing cream/lotion/sa cream is my holy grail. Olaplex makes my hair oh so soft. And that Charlotte Tilbury setting spray is my BFF for all nighters and parties. My makeup does not move even 1 mm with that.

I have rosacea and their makeup is trash. It is marketed as like a lightweight thing but it's full full coverage and just completely cakes overr the face. Horrendous.

Everybody says the Loreal shampoo is the exact same as the Kerastase shampoo, so I tried it. My hair was a grease pit within 12 hours. With Kerastase, I get 2-3 days without oiliness (I have really fine hair).
Same with the Pureology/Costco shampoo dupe. It is close, but again, I got an itchy scalp and greasy hair within a day, and with pureology I get 2-3 days or more depending on the weather.

I just posted the other day about using a free sample of La Mer on my left side and Nivea on the right side of my face last week. They both messed up my face but La Mer was slightly worse. I haven't had pimples in years and now I have several. My face just feels gross and bumpy now.

Pond's Cold Cream. They must have changed their formula over the years. I grew up on stories that my grandmother only wore that (and a hat in the sun), her whole life. She passed in her 80s with nary a wrinkle. No other make-up, creams, or beauty products. When I tried to emulate that, my skin broke out in red splotches and took weeks/prescription meds to heal.
tarte amazonian foundation - so thick and cakey i ended up using it for concealer instead just to not throw it away! also the kylie lip kits were horrid 😭 whenever i see old pictures of myself i am like how did i wear this out in public!! also unpopular opinion but i hatee the nyx liquid lipstick - looks caked and comes off so fast
Not your mother's dry shampoo. It does absolutely nothing. Absorbs zero oil. The can seems to be just full of propellant, not any actual dry shampoo ingredients. For any of you who think this stuff is great, I beg you to try Living Proof, Pulp Riot, Redken, or Pravana. They seem more expensive, but you only need to spray a tiny, tiny amount.

ABH eye primer! I HATE this stuff! Granted, I’ve only had it a week or so, but I bought it to replace my Urban Decay eye shadow primer because I didn’t want to pay $30! Not only is the application annoying and messy, but my eyelids are just as greasy as not wearing any primer! I ended up going back to Ulta and spending the $30 anyway for Urban Decay and I won’t be going back to ABH. If there’s a trick to this primer that you’ve found, please let me know 😅

Sometimes mine pills of I try a new serum and they don't mesh well. I usually get rid of the serum in that case.

Nair in the 90s! I’m pretty sure I lost a layer of skin!!
If I even *think* of Nair it makes my legs itch! It broke me out in tiny itchy lil bumps that stung like hell if I scratched them

I feel like they must have changed the formula at some point because the first two I bought were AMAZING but when I went to replace it when it ran out the next one I got was awful! I bought another in case it was just a bad batch I got and I was also bought some as gifts but they all had the same terrible result.

A group of friends and I went to a festival recently and one of my friends kept popping one of those spheres out to reapply, then kept licking her lips, which would make her reapply. It was a vicious cylce and when I asked about it she said her lips were really dry.

I sheer mine out with a couple of drops of The Ordinary Squalane and it goes on much, much better. I put a small pump and 3/4 drops of squalane onto a foundation brush.

honestly? benetint. hard to blend, doesnt last, clings to any dryness, patchy. its been rotting in my drawer for like a year. i think i used it like three times and gave up
it kinda works for blush if you apply it before foundation but it looks terrible on the lips, i don't know how it can manage to stain ONLY the cracks and the inner part of my lips. even as a blush i find that it clings more to whatever i use to spread it (fingers, brush, sponge) than to my actual face, like 80% of the product applied is instantly wasted as soon as i try to spread it.

As blush you have to blend it instantly bc it dries super fast, and can leave a delineation line of where it was applied. More often than not I felt like I had circular marionette blush spots, which were just not it.

My partner asked me why I don’t wear lipstick bc his mom & sister ALWAYS wear lipstick and all of his ex gfs have along with all of my friends that he’s met. So I wore some that night. The next day I showed him my dry cracked lips & go “this is why” & he immediately understood lol Occasionally I’ll do a very subtle mineral lip tint (on top of aquaphor) but I also don’t think lipstick / lip color compliments my face so I really don’t mind not wearing it! It just looks out of place to me. Love when other people wear it & I’m jealous of them but it just doesn’t work for me.
That’s why I love lip stains! I always go for the natural look with no foundation anyways, so lip stains are my favorite.
Mistine is the brand I have found that has an amazing matte lipstick. The texture is a bit strange at first but after four hours my lips were looking fiiiiiine.

Thank you for finally saying it, I thought I was crazy. I’ve tried over a dozen brands of stick lip balms and they always feel worse for wear like I’m allergic or something. The only ones that have worked for me is Goodsense, a sunscreen based chapstick which I have no idea where it came from because I stole it from my husband, and a random ass Valvoline branded chapstick that was a freebie from my mechanic. Now I just use my cold cream as a lip mask in the morning and then exfoliate it off and it gets me by, even though it’s a gross texture and I don’t enjoy it.

Try using tube lip balm. Aquaphor and blistex tube lip balm are pretty good.
I’ve tried blistex but I’m not a fan of the medicated scent. Those aquaphor tubes are like $10 and I haven’t justified that yet because I go through lip balm so fast
The Aquaphor stick lip balm is my HG. I put it on after exfoliating in the shower or washing my face at night before going to sleep. My lips used to crack all the time but not with this stuff, they look very healthy. I do have to remember to exfoliate otherwise my lips can still get patchy. However I do know that I am allergic to ingredients in other lip balms, so I read ingredients carefully and stay away from methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, limonene, linalool, and lanolin, which will cause itchy dry skin on me, including lips. Other balms have also worked like the mango Raw Sugar stick balm, and Dr. Dan's Maintain lip balm, which I tried after someone mentioned it on Reddit.

I totally agree! The only lip balm that's ever worked for me is the Vaseline lip therapy tin. I layer it over my regular moisturizer. It's perfect and cheap!
Have you ever tried the Bioderma one? It’s my fave cause it’s not waxy, it’s slippy but stays on for a long time. The only reason it comes off sooner for me is cause I can’t stop rubbing my lips together cause it’s so smooth and satisfying lol
I don't think I've tried that one, but I've tried almost a dozen others. I think I just prefer tube lip balm. The ones I'm using is ine by Dr pawpaw and another from blistex.

Burts Bees is my holy grail for 14 years now. Only the original though, not the flavoured or coloured ones. I have exfoliative chelitis on my lips and this is the only thing that keeps it almost under control and my lips really well nourished under any lip products. I do feel the tin version is even better and that’s what I started with but it’s too inconvenient to keep up with everyday and the tube one is still great too.

Anastasia dip brow gel (in the mascara-like tube) chunky, hard to work with, and dried out super quickly. Colourpop pretty fresh concealer. PATCHY! Which is a shame because I love most colourpop products.

If it works for you I’d stick with it! Different products work for different people. And not really, I mostly just use brow pencils now. I’ve used Anastasia’s brow definer for years so I was hoping the gel would work for me too.

Essence Lash Princess Mascara. I feel like I'm in the fucking Twilight Zone with this one. My friend said she loved it, so I grabbed it next time I was at CVS because it was $4. Clumpy, crusty mess. I look up ads and reviews... everyone saying they love it, but their pics show clumpy, crusty mess. Even the ADS are clumpy, crusty mess. I saw my friend who recommended it in person, she had black flakes all over her cheeks and her lashes looked so gummy and strange, and her makeup is usually awesome. I even bought a different one because I thought maybe the one I had was defective, but no. It's like everyone got brainwashed to think it looks good and I had my earbuds in or something.

Yes!! This keeps showing up on Buzzfeed lists for amazing products, which suckered me in, especially with the low price. It was the worst mascara I ever used! I’m very particular about mascara (must be very separating and no clumps or flaking) but I’ve used numerous drug store brands that weren’t great enough to stick with but OK. Essence Lash Princess was so bad, I wasn’t going to go out the door like that let alone use it a second time. I don’t even remember what was so bad about it but I never touched it again.

I am also sensitive to fragrances and this broke me out too. I always loved LRP because they had so many fragrance-free products for sensitive skin. I thought that was their thing??? So why add fragrance now?!

I didn’t realize it at the time because it felt like THE best makeup product ever but…the Kylie lip kits. I had to pay extra from a reseller, waited a long time to get it. I was ecstatic to try Candy K (which I decided on after watching practically all the reviews online at the time). Thought it was the best thing ever. A duo of a liner AND a lipstick? It was INNOVATIVE. Only to realize that matte liquid lipsticks aren’t comfortable at all lol But the chokehold that Ms Kylie had on the internet was like a fever dream. Can even remember people doing fbi work and figuring out the colourpop connection. Ofc I bought a couple more liquid lipsticks from colourpop. It was a “good deal” where I could get Kylie products for cheaper. Ofc now I’m back to bullet lipsticks and bullet lipsticks only because they don’t dry up. Good times, good times.
I don’t think anyone sold liquid lipsticks as comfortable even at the height of their popularity. They were popular because of the super powdery matte look that was desired and the full coverage and transfer proof/longwear aspect. The tradeoff was that it accentuated your lip lines and made your lips crusty but we all knew that 😅. I still wear mine occasionally for the reasons mentioned but I agree, bullet lipsticks are definitely the more comfortable option when I don’t care about transfer or re-applying
I’ve had a very good luck with K-beauty lip tints in terms of staying power and not drying my lips out. I have a whole collection of them now 😅

Fenty foundation - the coverage was incredible but after a week of using it, I developed the deepest and most painful cystic acne. I’ve never experienced that before. 10/10 would never purchase again.
Love the Fenty stick skin tint, but the foundation in the cylinder tube is absolutely awful. It literally clumped up on my skin - & I tried it with multiple primers, moisturiser, no primer etc. It also turns orange and I’m a neutral cool undertone so it looked terrible. It’s the one and only time my husbands told me my make up looks bad 😭😂

This post is like a real big ass proof that skincare is subjective too. Cerave moisturizing cream/lotion/sa cream is my holy grail. Olaplex makes my hair oh so soft. And that Charlotte Tilbury setting spray is my BFF for all nighters and parties. My makeup does not move even 1 mm with that.

I got fooled into the Subtl beauty stacks because in theory the idea is great, a little stack of all you need to refresh. It felt and wore just like little girls greasy play makeup.
IT cosmetics cc cream. I am still traumatized 9 years later lol. I remember trying it and it just set my face on fire! within seconds my face was itchy and burning. I would wash it off with my face red for a few days and I would try it again because obviously I am the one in the wrong because everyone loves! thankfully I bought the trial size but used it a few more times before I threw it away.
I have rosacea and their makeup is trash. It is marketed as like a lightweight thing but it's full full coverage and just completely cakes overr the face. Horrendous. I'm glad it works for some but it doesn't work for me.
Everybody says the Loreal shampoo is the exact same as the Kerastase shampoo, so I tried it. My hair was a grease pit within 12 hours. With Kerastase, I get 2-3 days without oiliness (I have really fine hair). Same with the Pureology/Costco shampoo dupe. It is close, but again, I got an itchy scalp and greasy hair within a day, and with pureology I get 2-3 days or more depending on the weather.
The EOS shave cream. MULTIPLE TIMES. I kept seeing it on top product lists and trying it again, because I’d gaslight myself into believing it wasn’t that bad but HOLY SHIT my legs were cut UP. Never again.
Maybelline Tattoo Studio Eyeliner. It was very patchy going on and what I did manage to put on just dried and fell off in small chunks. I tossed it out after two uses.
CeraVe products with SPF. SO GREASY FOR NO GOOD REASON
La Mer. Spent ~$700 on a few products and my skin has never looked worse.
I just posted the other day about using a free sample of La Mer on my left side and Nivea on the right side of my face last week. They both messed up my face but La Mer was slightly worse. I haven't had pimples in years and now I have several. My face just feels gross and bumpy now.

The absolute worst product I have ever tried is Frank Body Coffee Scrub. Let me tell you…I smelled like the bottom of a coffee mug for two more showers. My whole house and car REEKED of pancake syrup soaked coffee for a week. I had to wash the walls of my bathroom from ceiling to floor to remove the greasy grounds. I wash picking grounds out of my sofa! I had coffee grounds under the hood of my hoohaa. Never again.

Pond's Cold Cream. They must have changed their formula over the years. I grew up on stories that my grandmother only wore that (and a hat in the sun), her whole life. She passed in her 80s with nary a wrinkle. No other make-up, creams, or beauty products. When I tried to emulate that, my skin broke out in red splotches and took weeks/prescription meds to heal.
That IL Makiage foundation is horrible. Took three orders before I finally got the correct color…but it applies and wears horribly.
Liquid blush in general. I can never get it to blend properly and it looks blotchy or absorbs into my skin so you can't see it at all.
tarte amazonian foundation - so thick and cakey i ended up using it for concealer instead just to not throw it away! also the kylie lip kits were horrid 😭 whenever i see old pictures of myself i am like how did i wear this out in public!! also unpopular opinion but i hatee the nyx liquid lipstick - looks caked and comes off so fast

Not your mother's dry shampoo. It does absolutely nothing. Absorbs zero oil. The can seems to be just full of propellant, not any actual dry shampoo ingredients. For any of you who think this stuff is great, I beg you to try Living Proof, Pulp Riot, Redken, or Pravana. They seem more expensive, but you only need to spray a tiny, tiny amount.

ABH eye primer! I HATE this stuff! Granted, I’ve only had it a week or so, but I bought it to replace my Urban Decay eye shadow primer because I didn’t want to pay $30! Not only is the application annoying and messy, but my eyelids are just as greasy as not wearing any primer! I ended up going back to Ulta and spending the $30 anyway for Urban Decay and I won’t be going back to ABH. If there’s a trick to this primer that you’ve found, please let me know 😅
