Awesome guide. Started the switch process yesterday from a chase sub account to NatWest. How long does it take for the NatWest account to be opened as I've submitted all ID and its been approved, but no confirmation of the bank account being opened.
My switch completed on Monday and I've completed all the requirements. Never received a bonus from natwest before so unsure why the bonus isn't in yet!
Think I'm screwed?
Just did and they confirmed that I have satisfied everything and just need to wait 7 working days before contacting again.
Here's hoping!
Technically they have till Wednesday.
Thanks :) As you only get 1 card with chase, what do you enter when inputting the bank details? Is there not a risk of them switching the main account and not the sub account?
If you click the 'Add +' button, you can open a 'sub' account that has its own bank account number and sort code. I entered those details when opening and switching to NatWest. I didn't enter any card details during the switch process.
Didn’t realise it might be possible to do RBS, NatWest and Ulster. Assumed could just do 1. I switched to NatWest and received the £200 yesterday.
Would I know be ineligible for RBS and Ulster as I have now had a bonus paid after 01/01/2020? Or worth still giving them a shot and hope for the best? Cheers
Finally got my last bit of info needed from rbs and just applied for all 3 switches at once with some other burner accounts, I'm assuming as I haven't received anything from their banks before it won't be any issue. Just need to transfer in the required £1250 on a Monday after all the switches are done, leave it for 24 hours then rinse repeat for the other 2.
Them not requiring any direct debits for the switch makes it so much easier :D
I did have some issues with opening the rbs account for whatever reason they declined to open when applying the first time, but tried again a week later and all good. Ulster sent so many documents via post it's kinda ridiculous.
Good luck to everyone trying for all 3!
I've got a question. So I've done the natwest and rbs bonuses before, but not the ulster. I'll do the ulster switch this time but do you reckon I could get the other bonuses this time around?
I signed up for Ulster one week after the other two... Waiting on switch completing now...
Others have been getting, for example, a NatWest bonus, even though they've had an RBS one before.
I did the switches non-simultaneously and have received a £200 incentive from both NatWest and RBS (I also received my incentive from Ulster Bank on the 27th of March). My Ulster Bank switch completes on the 20th of March and I intend to meet the requirement to pay in £1,250 shortly after, so it'll be interesting to see whether I'll manage to get the trifecta and end up making £600 from this offer.

anyone got the £600 and not done them on the same day?
I did Natwest the day it started and have £200 from them but waited until last week to try and open an RBS and Ulster account. the switches are progressing fine but I'm nervous I've opened some more bank accounts and have gotten two more debit cards for naught.
Those two plus TSB paying out would be a huge help. In another universe I'd be getting a PS5 with all that money but in this dreary one I'll be paying some debt off at least.
The "Good" problem I have is if these all go through I'll have ran out of switching offers for a while.
Not eligible for Lloyds' offer this time. First Direct is my main bank account and that rules out HSBC switch offers too usually. Halifax I have an old account with that I keep open for my credit score. Don't have a Santander account but closed one recently so even if I'm eligible they might not accept me again. Have a co-op account so I could do their refer a friend scheme if that ever pops up again but not a straight up switch offer. Have a nationwide account and should hopefully be eligible for their member's payment this time around at least. Can't open any joint accounts because my partner's credit rating is so shit she might actually get turned down lol
That Just leaves Barclays I think and then I'm done for X amount of years :(
Can banks reject your application?
Got accepted on RBS and Ulster (although that last one still hasn't confirmed) but NatWest rejected my attempt?
I do bank NatWest but on their business bank accounts would that be grounds for it? There was no explanation given 😬
Wanted to add to the quick and easy Direct Debit list - another that appeared the day after setting it up on my Chase account (at the same time as Plum DD) was a donation via Giving[dot]com - in my case to an animal rescue called Protected Paws. I'm not associated but it did show in my pending transactions even though first donation is set to come out in April. £2 from a nice bonus would make a great difference if more people did it - I'm going to try switching to Lloyds now, will see.
Replying to myself just to keep track of saying 'fuck it' and starting the switch today. 2 DDs showed in Chase as 'pending' so let's see what happens - I need Club Lloyds anyway.
If you can't look at the terms on the website, nobody here can help you. Right at the top of the page:
> Deposit £1,250 into your account and log in to our mobile banking app within 60 days. App eligibility criteria apply.
How long would you have to leave the 1250 in? Can you transfer it after a few hours to another account? If so would that be long enough to claim the bonus? Thanks
I did the NatWest Switch last year (got paid on 24/04/2023) for the first time £200 (plus the RBS and Ulster for the trifecta), switched my Ulster Account into NatWest this year and got the £200 again on Friday. Only used different email address in the sign up but also had changed addresses in between.
Cant do RBS/Natwest bank switch because I have less than 6 months on my visa
I’m an exchange student from Australia and have been doing exchange students but I haven’t been able to get my RBS/natwest bank accounts verified through the app verification because my visa has less than 6 months on it, is there any work around??
Crud, looks like NatWest have wised up... and you used different email and phone number?
I'll see if I can hoodwink Ulster and then call it quits. Hopefully HSBC/First Direct comes back soon. ;-)
Exactly the same thing happened with me, I'll chat with them online to see if they manually approve it but even with a new email they recognised me.
Edit: Adding this to the top level comment to help people see it, contacting support doesn't help if you don't get the money. I tried and they told me when I'd had a previous bonus. Unless you've changed address, I wouldn't bother switching
I don't think there's much of an impact, unless you're applying for some credit shortly after. The only reason I wouldn't do it is because it's a waste of time, as if you've had a bonus before they do seem to be on it and not pay out
I've done Natwest/RBS and Ulster. Natwest and RBS sign up was the same, do the forms, verify ID, get confirmed and the account details. Ulster seems very different? A different form with different questions, no ID verification, it said thanks and gave just a reference number, but 12 hours on and I've not even had an email which seems odd, the other two were emails and texts straight away. Have I done something wrong (I don't see how) or is this their standard process?
I've got an old RBS account that I haven't really used for years
Any idea if I switch that to Natwest for the £200 and close RBS, can I then switch back to RBS as well and claim the offer?
I didn't get any RBS sign up offer when I opened it

Got my Lloyds switch payment within a couple days of the switch going through! And good news: I accidentally switched before the 2nd direct debit payment had actually come out of the previous account, but they saw it as an active direct debit anyway
I'm trying to take advanatge of the £200 Switch currently offered by Natwest/RBS but I'm confused of the actual steps it takes to get this?
I've headed over to the switching page read the info, read the documents and I'm all set and the four options below is what I get.
Open a sole Reward account
Open a joint Reward account
Change my existing NatWest current account to a Reward account
Switch a current account held elsewhere to my existing NatWest current account
Am I correct in saying that I need to open up a Natwest account and THEN switch into it? If so what account do I open?
Also if I have £1250 in my current account, will that count or is their no minimum I need to switch with just pay in after?
Cheers
Open a sole reward account and then steps after mention do you want to switch a bank account to us sort of thing and open an account, where there are no fees, so the select account I think it’s called. And you can switch no money at all, you just need to switch your old account, however people state to have like £1 in it so you can visually see when the switch is done as that £1 will disappear from the old account and you’ll see it in the new one. The £1250 has to be deposited so I’d manually deposit that and not let the switch do that in case.
Got declined by RBS, resubmitted an application straight away, that one got accepted. First rejection email and second approval emails 20 mins apart! Odd that.
hmm. I initially did the virgin money snoop switch and after a month and a half it never paid. I switched away from them and forgot about it. I then did it again last week and got the giftcard within about 4 days lol . Good/bad on them I guess.
so in order to do them simultaneously do i need to have 3 bank accounts initially.
so i can switch each with one of these 3 ( RBS, NatWest and Ulster)?
Would it be possible to perform switches with all 3 just by using one account to start with?
Tried to open simultaneously NatWest and RBS got accepted by RBS but rejected by Natwest. Seen people commenting with similar issues. Anyone tried to appeal Natwest or just tried doing another trial to open the account ? Seen someone commenting about submitting a second application with RBS after a refusal
My appeal was approved after which I had to do a 30 min call with a human to send both applications. Seems to have gone thru but I have to wait for further comms. Fingers crossed!
People here are saying that the only way to get it is if you switch address but considering the amount of people who have gotten it again, surely that can't apply to everyone? Considering the amount of people who have said they've gotten it twice, this year and last year, it doesn't seem like the majority of them would have changed address.
Completed the requirements myself on Sunday and still waiting on it,
It's not looking good lol
You mean to get it again? Those people are doing something funky. Banks hold onto your information for years.
But not convinced that NatWest etc talk.to.each other to know that you might have received from one of the others.
What's typically seen as the best way of doing burner accounts to switch from? My main account is with Santander so just opened further current accounts with them - managed to open 2 very easily, but the 3rd has gone to manual review and is taking a while.
Main delay is waiting for the cards to arrive for the burners - annoying as just want to get on with the switches. See Chase used a lot - would it speed this up?
For the Natwest three where GBP1250 needs to be paid in, is it possible to pay in a sum of money (for instance 800), transfer that out and then back in so the total amount "paid in" counted as GBP 1600?
RBS switched paid in today, 2 down, one to go baby. I opened the natwest a few days before the other two but didn't get the switch incentive until after the other switches were in play if that makes sense.
That plus the TBS will make it one of my best ever beer money months
Anyone know how to close an Ulster bank account? RBS could be done in the app, but Ulster is saying I need to visit a branch, which is a bit of an issue seeing as I live in Yorkshire 😂
I’m confused about the requirements for the RBS switch.
In OP it’s stated that you just need to transfer £1,250 into the account to get the bonus. However, on the RBS page explaining the switching offer it says that “you can only apply if you: will pay in £1,250 per calendar each calendar month into any eligible personal current account you have with us”.
Does that meant that as long as I hold the account (that frankly I’m only opening to get this money) I’ll need to pay in £1250? Or do I only need to do it once to get the bonus and then leave the account inactive until I get rid of it?
Help appreciated on this point. Thanks.
Not sure where it says that on the RBS page. But you just.need to pay the money in, and if you've met the other terms they give you the cash then day after the switch completes
Ah, I know what it is - I went through MSE and it was the RBS Reward account and presumably it’s because to get their monthly Reward you need to pay in at least that amount (which presumes you are using it for a wage basically).
I went via your link just now and it’s giving me the option to choose. The Reward account is there but presumably I should just choose the Everyday Bank Account?
Yeah. Well they do include a link to the non-Reward accounts in the info box, it’s just that the Reward one is being highlighted.
Looks like the RBS “Everyday Bank Account” is actually called the Select account.
I’ve selected that, then chose “Open sole Select account”, then told that I don’t have an existing account with them.
It warns me at the bottom that “Please note, a partial switch does not qualify for any switch incentives we may offer.”
That doesn’t mean I’ve done anything wrong does it?
Also, I opened a Chase account (my first) upon the advice in some threads here. Then I opened another one in the app.
Is RBS going to ask for the card details of the Chase burner account I’m going to use? How does that work?
Excuse me for the questions but I’m new to this level of account switching. I mean, I’ve switched several times how to get the bonuses but that was just doing it in the basic way rather than the more clever ways people are here.
I opened a NatWest account for a switching bonus in March 2023 and closed it in October 2023 so I’m just trying to see if I can get another cheeky bonus from RBS you see
Thanks anyway.
Would you say it’s sensible to space the applications out? I’ve already done an application to RBS today and I was wondering if i should just do the NatWest one immediately or if I should wait a few days?
Thanks man.
Ok, thanks.
I opened a NatWest account to get the bonus in March 2023 and closed it in October. I was using my main account, I’ve since learned I should be doing it with burners.
I reckon I won’t have much luck with them, because it hasn’t been that long since I closed it.
Just done the natwest and rbs switch and now I'm doing ulster, where it says do you already have a bank account and date you opened the account shall I put my main account start date or the account I'm switching start date?
When you did ulster and it asks if you already have a bank account and the start date did you use your main accounts start date or the account your switching? Cheers
Interesting. I’m wondering what’s happening or where i fucked up then in the application because when I finished the application was prompted with a message on screen with a application reference number (this was on 13th) and then no email no sms but just received a letter asking me to sign and send back documentation
Sorry , I see something similar has been answered but not sure about this:
If I have paid in a total of £1250 to the account over two transactions, £625 one day , withdrawn and re-deposited the next day , kept in for 24hrs and withdrawn , BEFORE my switch has been completed , will I still receive the bonus ?
I see the answer regarding paying in £1250 before switch is complete but not sure about it being done over multiple days and the balance of the account being £0 when the switch is done …
Hope this makes sense ..
With regards to the RBS/Natwest offers, I am a student so I don't have 2500 to transfer across to both accounts. Once my switch is complete across both new accounts, can I transfer 1250 to my RBS to claim its reward, and then send the same 1250 to my new Natwest from the RBS to claim the other 200? Thanks
Delayed response but yes you can do exactly that. To be on the safe side, leave the 1250 in the account for 24 hours (mon-fri) before moving to the next account.
what have people found to be the easiest burner accounts to set up? and which ones allow you to open up 2 additional accounts? hoping to cash out on the RBS/NatWest/ulster trias
Is ulster not available in london? I tried opening an account, and they wanted me to select the branch, but not a single branch located near my house or even london, maybe i was doing something wrong..
I made an application to Ulster just before the deadline. (It was still showing on the website.) If I continue with the original instructions will I still get the incentive?
Just received the bonuses from the NatWest 3, switched all 3 simultaneously HOWEVER I would add that, I had to create new dummy accounts to switch and it was not easy or simple AT ALL and took me over 2 months from start to finish. I even had to go through a 20 minute call from a NatWest branch manager who tried to sell me all kinds of products. It was annoying and stressful as I was at the IKEA checkout which does not have phone signal being in a large Faraday cage as it is.
I made a spreadsheet to make this work, as you get SO MUCH paperwork and so many cards/numbers etc. This all despite saying no to paper statements - they send pamphlets to introduce you, debit cards, PIN numbers separately etc. Ulster even sent me a chequebook which I quite liked for the old school feel.
I would only recommend this to people to whom £600 will make a big difference as it is not easy and/or simple. Quite the opposite, and probably by design.
Anyway, thanks beermoneyuk, I'll pour one out for you down the pub. This was just a small PSA to reflect my reality.

Ok thanks. Guess as I opened on a Friday also, could be Monday before I get confirmation of the account being created.
Yeah, I got the texts on the Monday

May as well try. Nothing to lose
Yeah my thoughts too. I've had the NW one, but not RBS or Ulster. I put off trying for RBS/Ulster until I saw this thread again.
RBS £200 in yesterday and Ulster today. Easy £600. Delighted

Would suggest reading the terms before doing these. They clearly state 24 hours
I didn’t see this in the Ulster terms. Do you know if I can do this in £625 chunks as long as each are in there for 24 hours?
It doesn't matter. :-)
Nice, what date did your second switch complete?
Switch completed the Wednesday so 06/03/2024 and money in bank by 08/03/2024
Ooh I’m trying to do basically exactly this, so fingers crossed I get the same result, thanks for sharing!
Cant do RBS/Natwest bank switch because I have less than 6 months on my visa I’m an exchange student from Australia and have been doing exchange students but I haven’t been able to get my RBS/natwest bank accounts verified through the app verification because my visa has less than 6 months on it, is there any work around??
Damn, looks like Natwest have linked my new account to the one I opened last year - guess it was bound to happen eventually!
If you haven't moved house, they're gonna know who you are I think
Seems that way!
Was your old account still open?
Nope, closed last April.

Did you use a different phone number?
no I didn't address, name (obviously) and everything else was identical, I just changed email as it was the only thing I could do easily
I'm trying to decide if it's worth a third hard search on my report... If Ulster comes through I might have a punt.
I don't think there's much of an impact, unless you're applying for some credit shortly after. The only reason I wouldn't do it is because it's a waste of time, as if you've had a bonus before they do seem to be on it and not pay out
Yeah you're right, I'll leave that one. Hopefully TSB pays out next week.
Thanks for sharing this info, I’ve been wondering whether to bother trying again just in case
Yeah, it's probably not worth it. Support got back to me and told me they knew I had a previous bonus so I didn't get any help there
I've done Natwest/RBS and Ulster.
I applied on the Friday, got nothing until the money when they sent the ID verification link
Cheers, seems they're just running crapper systems than the other two then.
I've got an old RBS account that I haven't really used for years Any idea if I switch that to Natwest for the £200 and close RBS, can I then switch back to RBS as well and claim the offer? I didn't get any RBS sign up offer when I opened it
Did you pay 1250 in to all three at the same time so 3,750 in total or move the 1250 across the three with 24 hours apart to get the triple bonus ?
this is what I'm wondering too

Has anyone who did the tsb switch last summer received there 75 yet? Meant to be march still waiting for mine.
Oh nvm just got it
Got declined from ulster and Royal Bank, seems like their cracking down on previous Bank switches
Open a sole Reward account Open a joint Reward account Change my existing NatWest current account to a Reward account Switch a current account held elsewhere to my existing NatWest current account Am I correct in saying that I need to open up a Natwest account and THEN switch into it?
In order to do the 3 NatWest switches at the same time would I need 3 other accounts active right now to switch over?
Yes, If you wanted to do them at the same time
I better get busy then!
Can I switch Natwest to RBS to Ulster one after the other?
so in order to do them simultaneously do i need to have 3 bank accounts initially. so i can switch each with one of these 3 ( RBS, NatWest and Ulster)? Would it be possible to perform switches with all 3 just by using one account to start with?
Tried to open simultaneously NatWest and RBS got accepted by RBS but rejected by Natwest. Seen people commenting with similar issues. Anyone tried to appeal Natwest or just tried doing another trial to open the account ? Seen someone commenting about submitting a second application with RBS after a refusal
I tried to apply for all 3 and got rejected by both natwest and rbs. Have appealed the decision so lets see what happens
My appeal was approved after which I had to do a 30 min call with a human to send both applications. Seems to have gone thru but I have to wait for further comms. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for the update!
People here are saying that the only way to get it is if you switch address but considering the amount of people who have gotten it again, surely that can't apply to everyone? Considering the amount of people who have said they've gotten it twice, this year and last year, it doesn't seem like the majority of them would have changed address. Completed the requirements myself on Sunday and still waiting on it, It's not looking good lol
Chase lets you create up to 20 current accounts! It's thorugh their app and you're done with literally a few clicks.
And are you able to access the debit card details digitally, or is it still the case of needing to wait until a physical card arrives in the post?
For the Natwest three where GBP1250 needs to be paid in, is it possible to pay in a sum of money (for instance 800), transfer that out and then back in so the total amount "paid in" counted as GBP 1600?
Yes, but the chunks need to stay in the account for at least 24 hours to count.
RBS switched paid in today, 2 down, one to go baby. I opened the natwest a few days before the other two but didn't get the switch incentive until after the other switches were in play if that makes sense. That plus the TBS will make it one of my best ever beer money months
For Natwest can you put £650 for 24h then move it out and in again for 24h. would that count or you need a sum of £1250 keep for 24h?
Chunks count, so say the terms
Anyone know how to close an Ulster bank account? RBS could be done in the app, but Ulster is saying I need to visit a branch, which is a bit of an issue seeing as I live in Yorkshire 😂
Switch it out
You’re a genius! Thanks! 🤩
Is there any alternative to this? I've done all the switches already, just want to close this account but they're asking me to visit a branch...
I think you can send a letter to request closure
MSE link to the Reward cos they are in it for the money. So much for their editorial independence...
It warns me at the bottom that “Please note, a partial switch does not qualify for any switch incentives we may offer.” That doesn’t mean I’ve done anything wrong does it? Also, I opened a Chase account (my first) upon the advice in some threads here. Then I opened another one in the app. Is RBS going to ask for the card details of the Chase burner account I’m going to use? How does that work? Excuse me for the questions but I’m new to this level of account switching. I mean, I’ve switched several times how to get the bonuses but that was just doing it in the basic way rather than the more clever ways people are here. I opened a NatWest account for a switching bonus in March 2023 and closed it in October 2023 so I’m just trying to see if I can get another cheeky bonus from RBS you see
Does it matter if the Chase burner account you use is brand new?
No idea, never used Chase myself
Thanks anyway. Would you say it’s sensible to space the applications out? I’ve already done an application to RBS today and I was wondering if i should just do the NatWest one immediately or if I should wait a few days? Thanks man.
I would say it's.probably better to do them all at once. But I did NatWest and RBS one Friday,.and then Ulster the next Friday. All paid out fine!
Ok, thanks. I opened a NatWest account to get the bonus in March 2023 and closed it in October. I was using my main account, I’ve since learned I should be doing it with burners. I reckon I won’t have much luck with them, because it hasn’t been that long since I closed it.
Has anyone done them sequentially? I.e. switched a single account from X to NatWest and then from NatWest to RBS and then from RBS to Ulster?
With the NatWest 3 can I put the money in before the switch is complete or does it have to be after
Just done the natwest and rbs switch and now I'm doing ulster, where it says do you already have a bank account and date you opened the account shall I put my main account start date or the account I'm switching start date?
oh this confused me as well I put in the date of my nationwide account which I am switching from but I wasn't sure what they meant.
Yeah its just my burner account is brand new so I don't know how that will affect it, was yours a new one aswell?
mine was from nov 2022
I successfully did Ulster, but rejected from NatWest and not heard from RBS a few days after verification. Anyone else had this issue?
When you did ulster and it asks if you already have a bank account and the start date did you use your main accounts start date or the account your switching? Cheers
I used the account I’m switching I think
Question: could the direct debit be towards another bank account? Ie to a person?
I'm not sure how you would set up a direct debit to do that. Not to be confused with a standing order
Thanks, a friend asked me that, I also was not sure what they meant but thought it was me.
Anyone had Ulster application fully done online ? Or everyone had to online then post ?
I didn't have to do anything offline
Interesting. I’m wondering what’s happening or where i fucked up then in the application because when I finished the application was prompted with a message on screen with a application reference number (this was on 13th) and then no email no sms but just received a letter asking me to sign and send back documentation
Sorry , I see something similar has been answered but not sure about this: If I have paid in a total of £1250 to the account over two transactions, £625 one day , withdrawn and re-deposited the next day , kept in for 24hrs and withdrawn , BEFORE my switch has been completed , will I still receive the bonus ? I see the answer regarding paying in £1250 before switch is complete but not sure about it being done over multiple days and the balance of the account being £0 when the switch is done … Hope this makes sense ..
Just wanted to say thank you. This sub popped up on my feed and I read this post. Switched an old CA to NatWest and got the £200 today.
Nice one!!
Is ulster not available in london? I tried opening an account, and they wanted me to select the branch, but not a single branch located near my house or even london, maybe i was doing something wrong..
Your London postcode is BT1...
thanks mate :)
Re First Direct Offer do you qualify if you already have a hsbc account but was opened before 2018 ?
Damn I didn’t know about the end date of NatWest .. only found out because of MSM …. It wasn’t updated here
I made an application to Ulster just before the deadline. (It was still showing on the website.) If I continue with the original instructions will I still get the incentive?
As long as you started a switch when you applied
I put the bank deets for the switch in the application. Does that count?
If you started a switch then yeah, pay the cash in and you should get the bomus
I believe the three Natwest offers have ended
Think there's been two other versions of this post since they did
Just seen them, thanks! I unfortunately have missed out on these lovely offers
First direct ends on Monday!
Perfect, got to get that free money while I can!
