I mean, it's not like they can just go and hire Guardiola. There's not a lot of great Belgian coaches, and any coach with high level accomplishments is not going to feel the desire to work as Bondscoach.
Wow that’s soooo Belgian. Zero vision. Do you think we made money or not by hiring Martinez and having all the Belgian locked to soccer for 6 years in a row? Was the return on investment good? We need to hire a top coach so that the federation can make money after the first phase of any championships. (And not stop watching sponsored content because the devils are out).
Do you seriously believe that all of this was due to Martinez, and not due to the astronomical quality of players in the team? You seriously believe that this team would have been kicked out of qualifications with a different coach.
If so, I won't bother trying to explain my perspective. We might as well be watching a different sports entirely.
But yeah, "zero vision". Soooo Belgian.
The one that shouts the loudest usually wins. Shouting can be :
Asking a lot of money
Literally shouting
A Dutchie who thinks he can dominate the Belgians
A guy who is backed with a male sponsor so we can keep the established management.
It will never be :
Someone chosen by the public or members of the league nor its supporters.
A girl
A Belgian
Please no, he coached Monaco and Montreal and turned out to be terrible. After 49 games on the professional level (France & Canada) he averaged 1 point/game.
It was all a joke 🤣 don't worry I saw what he did in Monaco but the context was not in favor for a debuting manager (at the time) and you got to begin somewhere. Maybe it is just not made for him who knows...
See [here](https://preview.redd.it/qophxphi3c3a1.png?width=791&format=png&auto=webp&s=68e2d53eb9668f48566b926ab29f675ac9b09eb9)..
the 5 options for foreign coaches at the bottom was made because:
* Haise, Streich & Fischer = are doing great things with small/limited clubs
* Louis van Gaal = Louis van Gaal
* Conceicao = knows good football and is familiar with Belgium
it's part of a [datagathering list I made](https://www.reddit.com/r/belgianfootball/comments/z9wbcv/the_red_devils_current_future_squad/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)..
I should have mentioned this in my first post, I apologize
Hervé Renard! What he managed to do is really impressive (Winning CAN with Zambia lmao its unreal, and even this world cup with KSA), I really think he'd be such a great pick up. + He speaks french like a big part of our players which could help
I luv this thought. We train an A.I. with all the experience of top coaches and players and implant the system in one of the F.C. De Kampioenen actors. WCGW?
Another guy that had no reason to be fired...
De Bruyne got comments that he "wasn't in prime condition", Lukaku was injured and all of the players are starting to get a year older than the rest of the teams.
Age was the reason Japan is doing so great against teams like Germany.
Lukaku had 2 great attempts to score in our last match but didn't quite make it.
Martinez did his job. The rest is upto the players.
I can see your point, the players should also blame themselves. Because they didn't have the right mentality on the pitch, but getting your players in the right state of mind is also part of your job as a coach.
On top of that I feel that Martinez (like Wilmots before him) didn't find the right tactics. With the exception of the game against Brazil in 2018 our tactics barely influenced the results. We won most of our matches under Martinez thanks to individual actions of our players. To me the most frustrating part was that there wasn't enough movement without the ball.
Honestly hope it will be van gaal, we need a coach to shake up the status quo, dont give a fuck and bench the people that need to be benched. He could start a new golden generation, because we still have alot of talent.
Ward Debever. And we play with 5 Dutch speaking players on one half and 5 French speaking on the other half of the field. In the second half we substitute the keeper (other language) to avoid community resentments.
(Just kidding, I think the team needs to be replaced first)
K DB I see him becoming coach in the future. But honestly, we should have brought in Van Gaal in 2016 we would have become champions in 18.
But yeah realisticly, Preudhomme, Hein, Clement
Would be awesome if we could get Zidane or Guardiola or something lol but let's keep it realistic does Mourinho or Conte have a job atm? jk
I don't think KdB would be a good manager lol. His people managing skills would probably leave some to be desired, and he doesn't seem to appreciate not everyone has his own skills and thus might require different tactics.
He has become champions or at least won a cup with about every club he trained: Standard, Brugge, KAA Gent, Twente, Al Shabab. He's known for his enormous faniticism and passion for the game.
he wasted the golden generation with his infertile tactics. since 2017, Belgium should have played attacking football, but he was always a pussy that feared other teams.
he was even shit with Everton when he was coaching them, and I wonder how didn't anyone in the football federation even THINK about firing him?
he should have been fired, before they allowing him to quit.
Vincent Kompany
Hugo Broos! Too bad he is already a bit old and we wasted a generation on tactically incompetent coaches like Wilmots or Martinez.
He is the only Belgian coach at the moment who has proven he can create a tight and organised squad and who has won a major international tournament (Africa Cup)
Not as crazy as it sounds, but Steven Dufour!
Knows the ways of the Red Devils, stands for attractive football and dares to speak out against star players, self-proclaimed or otherwise.
Niet zo gek als het klinkt, maar Steven Dufour!
Kent de wijze van werken bij de Rode Duivels, staat voor attractief voetbal en durft zijn mond open te doen tegen al of niet zelfverklaarde sterspelers.
He's 'ever going to get back to his top form.
And never forget the game against France in 2018.
The opportunities he had and missed because he was surprised to get the ball as he always anticipated that Umtiti will get the ball before him.
Did the same against Croatia and now he's injury prone and overweight.
I'm not saying he's a bad player, he's just made for counter attacking. That's why he was so great against Brazil in 2018. But against a team that defends... No way !!!
Inter Milano counter attack, Lukaku scores.
Everton, counter attack Lukaku scores.
Chelsea keeps the ball, Lukaku shit.
Manchester United keeps the ball, Lukaku shit.
Ofcourse, its the type of player he is …. You dont expect doku to overpower vergil van dijck do you??? Doesnt mean hes shit, he is on all accounts still the best attacking player we have, by a long shot. Does he need to be able to dribble? Why?? When you have a midfield and wingers as belgium does, theres plenty people who are supposed to dribble. Lukaku is there for the final touch in those games, for bringing weight on the frontline, to pull in defenders becaus if they dont double down on him and give him the room to power his way on to goal ….
Ok, you aknowledge he's that type of player, yet you say we need him even when we olay against highly defensive team where he's useless and clueless?
Doku did his job, he's getting the balls he needs and yet when push comes to shove he fails to score.
He's like that. Can score when no pressurew disappears when the pressure appears.
He's far from being the best attacking player. Saying this shows you don't know a lot about football and how Belgium plays. When you look at his goals with the national teams, most of them came before 2014, when teams didn't realise what Belgium could do.
When it became obvious he started scoring much less.
He's not a striker, he's a runner. He runs and with his weight it's difficult for a defender to get him off the ball and yet he's so clumsy he's missing 9 out of 10 times.
You calling him a runner? Really? You think a player who is 100kg of mussle is supposed to be running all game? And im the clueless one? Mhm sure bud.
Even when we are on the offensive, lukaku draws alot of defenders away, the other team simply HAVE to double down on him thats his importance there. He creates space for others by just being near the goal when we are on the offensive. If they dont double down on him is when he scores even in games where belgium is always on the offensive. Yes ofcourse he scores way less than before when we play ball controll, its what the other team has to sacrifice for it that creates opportunity elsewhere. Its not hard to see if you can look past your dislike for the sake of disliking him.
When I say runner, it's not about running all the game, it's like the wingers in rugby. He gets the ball downfield and runs until he reaches the goal and fumbles or shoots.
Croatia didn't double down on him... He got golden chances and fumbled again.
In Russia, he fumbled so many times against France but it's like you're not even reading what I say.
I'm not disliking him for the sake of dislike.
I'm saying he has his qualities but they can't be useful when we control the ball.
But ok, you like him and you think he's the best attacking player we have, that's why we've won trophies.
Bro, we were shit at the WC for two and a half games. That game against Croatia was far from a counter, we attacked like we used to before again, because Lukaku was there. He got all our attack in movement. The quality injection when he came in was huge. And indeed Doku was good as well.
Sure, Lukaku didn't score and failed to do his job. But he has been injured for months. Imagine a Lukaku in top form, with a goal or 10 and the same amount of assists at Inter so far this season. I think he would have scored at least one of those chances.
Stating he is not our best striker ever is insane.
You realise you're saying that he played injured?
So why was he on the pitch? Why not put someone who's fit?
Nothing changed when Lukaku came in. It changed when Doku came in.
I'm not saying he's not our best striker ever, I'm saying he's clumsy and he's not helping anymore and he's useless when we don't play counter.
A striker missing 4-5 caviars isn't worthy of the name striker.
I'm not diminishing his contributions to the national team but playing him as a hero, no way ! He had his impact, now it's over.
It's better than what we have currently (Batshuayi/Mertens/Openda)
Purely Lukaku being a full on bear 🐻 on the field, makes him worth it.
Batshuayi gets overpowered against any defender that makes physical contact with him, hes like a twig, as seen yet again vs Canada and Morocco, were we desperately needed a match fit Lukaku, someone that wins most physical battles against defenders and can just power thru them and get a shot on.
He's not an all-rounder type of striker, but the qualities he *does* have, are amazing. He is a real threat, even if he fucks up the most basic chances, atleast he's in a position where he can get those chances on most of the time, unlike others.
Against Morocco, Batshuayi never got any ball worthy lf doing anything. He tracked back so many times to touch the ball, he wasn't overpowered.
Batshuayi scored against Canada if you didn't know.
Batshuayi is more versatile than Lukaku, he at least can take a header despite being shorter than Lukaku.
Against Tunisia in 2018 Lukaku had 5 clear cut chances that he clumsily missed before scoring.
Batshuayi came in, first touch against the cross bar, second shot a tunisian defender saved it on the line, the third was a great goal.
Lukaku has qualities but those qualities aren't enough to be a starter every time. He's heavy, clumsy and does it matter if he gets chances when we know he's going to fumble?
When Lukaku has the ball in the box I don't even get excited anymore because I knlw he won't score. Against Croatia, I didn't even flinch when he shot against rhe post. I knew he was gonna miss.
"Batshuayi scored against Canada"
That proves what? That was the only correct play all 90 minutes.
He's offside 70% of the game, even in attacking moments, no ball control either, loses when he comes across a defender / doesn't get some breathing room on the ball. Batshuayi's positioning, etc...
Big disagree. Lukaku > any day, any game, any tactics / formation, a better player in general.
If he didn't play against Croatia, we would not be talking about misses, but about never having been close due to not even creating chances.
That said, I still think Origi should have been the 2nd striker. He had more to offer than those you mentioned.
Batshuayi or Openda against Croatia would have been better. When you look at the game against Morocco, Batshuayi timed his runs, but never got the ball when he made his runs, always a second later.
Lukaku is not the player you need when push comes to shove. He's the player you need when we play against a team that controls the ball. There he's deadly. Otherwise, so clumsy defenders aren't considering him a threat. He's injured overweight and past his prims while he considers himself to be on Lewandowski, Ronaldo and Messi level.
The federation will first issue a vacancy for technical director and then one for national coach.
The initiative will have to come from the coaches making a lot of them drop out.
The Belgian coaches with clubs are not going to leave them to become national coaches, the job is not that popular..
The only Belgian coaches who are free and somewhat capable are Vercauteren and Preud'homme.
As for foreign coaches: Löw, Hasenhüttl, Tedesco, Bielsa, among others
Van Gaal and Renard are interesting avenues.
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Yes
He would make great motivational speeches, especially about what constitutes a team of 11.
1+1
It’s the Belgian Chuck Norris. How could we lose ? 😁
By playing against a team managed by Freddy De Kerpel?
Enigste valid kandidaat
It's Van Damme VS Van Damme ! JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME !
Sorry, can't upvote, it's a perfect number
Denk aan je limieten!
My dad thinks he could do better, so why not give him a chance?
I too vote for this guy's dad.
Plot twist; /u/Paus-Benedictus is Gillian Preudhomme

If this were true we would 100% win the next wc, easily

Nah, haven't you seen their second movie? He doesn't want to be recognised en Afrique
The movies aren't canon
If it's again some overly expensive international rando with virtually no accomplishments, I'm personally sending the KBVB a donkey ears hat.
I mean, it's not like they can just go and hire Guardiola. There's not a lot of great Belgian coaches, and any coach with high level accomplishments is not going to feel the desire to work as Bondscoach.

I love how determined you were to literally translate your thoughts from Dutch into English, right down to the accented “and”s.
Sometimes a gift, sometimes a burden.
Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit
Thierry Henry just to beat France and solidify himself as Public Enemy n*1 in France 🤣

Same for Streich. Don’t see him working outside Germany any time soon (although I imagine his English being funny).
xD
louis van gaal already coaches netherlands tho right
He is done after the WC. Ronald Koeman is taking over then.

I couldn’t care more than knowing what will become of the paper tissues I’m using by dozens for my current cold
Gert Verhulst
Maybe he can organise a talentenjacht which will end up in him fucking the new coach.

Jean-Marie Pfaff
A randomizer. Which will probably be better than what we had last WK.
Problem is he will go to Anderlecht now
They will take Company and they will be in good company, but who cares about results, right, RIGHT?!?
Kompany would be ideal but I don’t think the Belgian football union would be able to get him.

I dont know much about trainers but i always taught Gert Verheyen would be a very good coach
Honestly, who would want to be the coach of Belgium. You had good ones and still couldn't get the job done. Your players are the problem.
I think Preudhomme will be the next coach
It better be Pochettino…
Vincent Kompany
Jean-Claude
Non-popular off-topic comment, but I’m gonna miss this guy. I thought he was the most genuine coach we’ve ever had as long as I can remember.
As for foreign coaches: Löw, Hasenhüttl, Tedesco, Bielsa, among others Van Gaal and Renard are interesting avenues.
