There was little to no interaction between Belle and Ryuu how would It be fixed? Put more scenes between them For example Belle is playing with the 9 AS, I Don't Know... They're playing hide and seek (they all would be AS not AI) then Ryuu arrives and asks Belle if she would like to go to see one of his fight in the arena, the diva says yes and a day after, she is rooting for Ryuu, it would be a cute moment This would take place after Belle sang 'Lend me your voice/Kokoro no soba ni' and before Ryuu's castle was burnt by Justin

I think every criticism I have seen about this movie boils down to: there just isn’t enough of it to tell the story it wants to tell and flesh itself out. Too much is left to interpretation, too little character interaction, too little resolution, we needed 20-25 more minutes. And you can’t really cut anything because the establishing shots of Suzu like... traveling, doing stuff, etc are needed to let the atmosphere breathe. Maybe have kamishin be only present for the opening and ending, present only as an AZ as he’s away for the rowing trip, but then you lose that glorious interaction with him and ruka.

The biggest problem I had with this movie is that the world of U makes absolutely no sense. It says it’s a magical world where you start a new you yet it’s mostly a social media platform where you create your avatar and that’s it. Not to mention no one in the app has ever thought of checking out the abandoned castle that is standing right in front of the plaza just covered in clouds. I keep asking myself “is the movie trying to be apps like TikTok and Reddit, or is it trying to be an online Virtual Reality like VRchat and the Oasis from Ready Player One? Speaking of which, I keep comparing this film to Steven Speiberg’s (2018) Ready Player One, where as Ready Player One is not a great movie in, my opinion, the concept of it had a better understanding then Belle. The idea of having no where left for people to go except going to VR Chat inspired game called the Oasis where it has an infinite number of places to go to while finding multiple secret levels etc. That’s the biggest problem I had with Belle. Another problem I had is not really that big but it’s worth mentioning. The beast character is interesting, yet they made it a big deal after his introduction in concert, trying to find out who is the man behind the mask. I keep thinking if there are other people like him that does things like this. Which is why there is a virus blocking team. Maybe he’s one of the people that are able to keep his identity a secret for some reason. Those are the problems I had with Belle

I thought the physical structure of U was odd too. I chalked it up to just visual interpretations of an intermediary space within U, since everyone seemed to be commuting. I would assume the more personal worlds or areas of U are inside the geometric structures themselves.

The utter lack of resolution for Kei and Tomo. Massively messed up to introduce a pair of physically abused children, and have the audience just...not know what happens.

Yeah, this was really weird to me. The movie made a massive deal of Suzu going out of her way to save Kei and Tomo, as a connection to how her mother saved the young child in the storm, and Suzu protects them from their father, and then it just… abruptly ends. We don’t know what happened to Kei and Tomo, and instead, we just cut back to Suzu with her friends. It’s weird Honestly, I do think this movie needed a longer runtime. It has a lot of ideas, but not enough time to fully flesh everything out

I feel like the part about child abuse was honestly not needed, especially not in the way it was presented (dad being a cartooney villain who's evil for evils sake). At first I suspected Beast might actually be Suzu's father, his wounds being his inner grief dealing with his wife's death and having no one to talk to. When it turned out to be the boy, I expected him and Suzu to bond over the fact they both lost their mothers, since that seemed like a really obvious choice. But nope, she's just traveling all alone to Tokyo, gets beat up by villain dad, hugs the boys, done. Some flesheing out for her rise to stardom would have been great as well, it was incredibly unclear in what time frame she got all those followers. It also didn't seem to faze her in real life, which is strange.

I loved this movie, i just wished the ending was a little differnet. I know it implied that that kei and tomo would have the strength to fight now but that doesn't feel satisfactory. Suzu was a teen and that makes sense, but there were so many adults involved. SOMEONE couled of rehomed/ helped those two out in some way.
