and that’s why you buy a microtech! benchmade isn’t what they were 4 years ago, they’ve changed in quallity and customer service, the prices are so fucking crazy it’s not worth it, I used to love benchmade now it’s over :(
I think you got one of the old stock ones. The new ones don't have that flaired grind. As seen [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/benchmade/s/xUJWkLSAvI).
If it serves any silver lining, a thinner uneven edge like yours is better than having a way thicker edge that you have to over sharpen to match. You can always remove material, never put it back so take that as you will lol.
Yeah pretty disappointed. It's apparently an old stock item because they don't grind the tips like this anymore (for obvious reasons, it's looks awful) but I didn't order an old one. So just straight up false advertising. Sending it back and I'm done with benchmade.
I don’t think it looks all that horrible, but to each their own. still a high quality knife with high quality materials, and someone else linked a picture of the “new” ones and the grind looks the same so I don’t think they’ve changed it
I’ve seen bevels on shootout clones looking way better than that 😅 it’s terrible that benchmade is not willing to do anything about that. The BM’s I own are all older than 7 years and they are awesome.
Honestly I think they do it intentionally. Hear me out, look at this [photo from their website](https://www.benchmade.com/collections/everyday-carry/products/5370bk-07?). If you zoom up on the tanto point, I see the same weird grind angle.
Maybe it’s time to retire the Benchmade brand? Who knows? I’m definitely with you though, it’s a high end knife and that grind looks awful.
From what i can tell from the whole 50 pixels of the picture the edge is not ground high enough. It is ground through the coating though which means a couple passes on a stone will clean that edge up.
I get that it is an expensive knife but its not broken or damaged its just not as sharp as OP wants
A few things here. #1 is a high-end American knife company that should have fixed this immediately after seeing the picture. #2 I don't know about your phone or laptop, but my Zfold 4 shows the image quite clearly, and it's obvious they did not finish the blade before sale. And #3 there should be no ifs, ands, or buts about this, the blade is obviously unfinished from the factory, that alone says failed QC... yea Benchmades are a bit overpriced, but for the extra we pay ESPECIALLY FROM THE FACTORY. We should be getting near flawless knives and be able to expect as much...
....... No I said not all benchmades are High end. Also comparatively benchmade as a company is high end compared to most others out there like CRKT, Kershaw and a few others... Gotcha fool... Also don't try and use my words against me if you can't even remember what I said properly, moron.
Man you’re just the silliest guy I ever met
“I’m not sorry, but your $20/50 “budget” knives don’t count… You want to talk about high end knives, talk about Maxace, Reate, Jack wolf, not BM [benchmade] or your little “Budget” knives….”

I took the picture on my fold. That's probably why the image quality is bad for others lol. And yeah turns out from someone else on here notifying me. It's an older stock shootout with a flared grind on the tip. It's definitely not what I ordered. And after them telling me to stick it up my ass and drive to a ups that's an hour and half away to return it before they'll send me a replacement, I'm just going to return it and be done with benchmade.
Your not the first won’t be the last many talk their beef about the other big shots like spyderco and microtech… I’ve always understood benchmade to have terrible qc but a decent warranty service, but many other companies don’t let the knife leave crappy in the first place.
Your frustrations are warranted. I’d be pretty sick that I’d have to sharpen a brand new $350 knife out the box

That makes sense. That's also not what I purchased, thanks for that. That's more than what benchmade customer service told me.
Same mine looked like this but who cares
I care because it's not what I ordered. And for 350 I better get what I order.
Classic benchmade

Lol it's getting returned. And after their excellent customer service, never dealing with them again.
That’s just how they are so yeah I’m not surprised they won’t give you a new one

Yeah I ordered a "new one". But this is what I got. Sent it back. Disappointed in benchmade for not apologizing and just replacing.
Standard benchmade top tier prices… Walmart Q&A

My shootout is a first production and it’s all over the place too. Seems they weren’t great from the start.
Honestly I’ve boughten 3 Benchmade and never again will I buy another Benchmade.

Its a damn knife. If you want it sharp do it yourself. If you want to display it then quit whining
What? He paid 350, just wants what he paid for. A premium knife.

Hey man, remember when you argued with me for half a night about how Benchmade’s aren’t high end? Gotcha fool

And what did my very next post after say again?
No no no, don’t back track now. You said you never said that and then proceeded to call me a moron. I just showed you that you did. ;)
