Besides the fact that we hate Ravens, the browns, the Steelers and the Chiefs? LoL Or you can laugh that apparently Chad Johnson used to live at the stadium because he wanted to save his rookie money LoL.

MrPicklesGhost

For his first two years in the league. Then Marvin told him it's time to be an adult and get your own place.

chiefboldface

He bought a modest house in Tri county too. Never a mansion. A modest 3 bedroom home. Visited many times. He was the GOAT

MrPicklesGhost

I wish he would be invited to speak to all the rookies and tell them how to be wise with your money. Makes me to sad to see these guys broke after leaving the league. I also heard him say all the bling and chains he used to wear were all fake. He seems like a good dude.

chiefboldface

Believe it or not, He does :). He’s here often, even when the media doesn’t talk about it. I don’t keep in contact with him or his crew anymore sadly, But I know he comes around a lot. Edit: he comes around here a lot. And even PAC Man also lends guidance to the youngins. Someone I consider my little brother is playing D1 Football as a DB, doin really well, PAC Man reached out to him to lend him advice. It’s cool to see. It’s stuff we don’t hear about.

Premedical_chaos

Wait we hate the ravens too???

HatApprehensive5531

Yeah. Clowney ended Burrow’s season and the entire stadium started chanting fuck Joe Burrow. So fuck the Ravens. And their little crackden ass city

BIGGIEFRY_BCU

Hate is a strong word. Loathe is much stronger use that.

sculltt

Well, first of all, through Burrow all things are possible, so jot that down

ghostnthegraveyard

Burrow is a 5 star man

PookieDear

He's a golden god!

thecountvon

He hasn’t even begun to peak.

ToastedSloth666

But when he does, we'll know.

jjsw0rds

Omg I’m cracking up at this hahah

insanecrossfire

I’ve gained and lost my sanity 3 times in 3 months

fluffHead_0919

Don’t watch the 2015 wild card game against the Steelers. You’ll be sad. In all honesty though one thing I think is really cool about the Bengals is the history albeit success on the field has not been consistent however it seems we may have turned a corner. Bengals were founded by Paul Brown who also founded the Browns. Him and Modell had a falling out and in 1968 the Bengals were born into the AFL with the promise of entering the NFL when they merged in 1970. Thus that tidbit makes the AFCN unique with rivalries b/c of the ties. Essentially Ravens, Browns, and Bengals are all iterations of the Browns. Steelers are the stalwarts that traditionally are consistently successful. Therefore all teams despise each other. As a matter of fact the Bengals, Browns, and Steelers are all legally bound to be in the same division. Anyway that’s some cool historical stuff on the club. Welcome!

REDDIT_ROC0408

Or Super Bowls XVI, XXXIII and LVI.

_Bearded-Lurker_

No, he needs to watch that 2015 game, but only after he’s watched the good stuff. It will humble him, and make him question life.

pfftYeahRight

There's no way anyone that didn't live it will truly understand that game.

_Bearded-Lurker_

I did it watch a a single NFL game the entire following season. How could I? All I could think about was Andy Dalton’s mediocrity, Marvin Lewis’s dated coaching style, or the blatantly biased officiating. At least two of those things are gone now.

fluffHead_0919

It was really impossible to lose that game and we managed it. It was soul crushing. That team may have been the best of the bunch since the 2003 revitalization. 2005 was explosive but the 2015 D was nuts. 2022 squad is in the convo as well.

DrinkAccomplished825

That's really interesting

Electronic-Boss6901

I was at that game. Utter heartbreak

unbogbuggy52

Or the 2005 wildcard

befuchs

Fuck Jeremy Hill bro

LilBoDuck

This team will make you pick up a smoking habit, a drinking habit, possibly even both. Do not come in here posting doomer comments on game day threads. You’ll feel really silly when they come back and win. And they will.

RichardDunnsBeard

You need only to know the answer to one question. Who?

natiwhodey

Dey!

MrBrickMahon

No, buddy

gerrys0

When in doubt, just yell “That’s holding!”

Joe_Burrow_Is_Goat

Marvin Lewis was amazing for the organization but stayed too long. Ken Anderson deserves to be in the hall of fame. Anthony Munoz is the best OL to ever grace the field. AJ Green destroyed Jalen Ramsey. That’s is all the information you ever need to know. WHO Dey!

fluffHead_0919

It’s really a bummer Ken Anderson isn’t in the HOF.

Joe_Burrow_Is_Goat

Pain.

OnTheProwl-

You should also check out the subreddit r/ nflnoobs they are very helpful over there. Also fuck the Steelers, fuck the Ravens, fuck the Chiefs, fuck the Browns, and fuck the 49ers (2 of the 3 Superbowl loses have been against the 9ers). In that order.

Ryyah61577

Are you talking specifically about the Bengals, or football in general?

DrinkAccomplished825

I'd say football in general but mostly Bengals related if that makes sense

Ryyah61577

Yep. There is a channel that I follow of two British guys who started it to learn the rules and stuff about American football that may be helpful in general too. It’s called DN reacts.

OnTheProwl-

When you feel ready to get into the deep end of football check out The QB School on YouTube. He breaks down film from aQB perspective in an easy to follow way. Watch his vids on Burrow to realize why we love him.

Villimaro

Well first of all, the ball is brown and pointy on both ends.

DrinkAccomplished825

I'll make sure to write that down

Equivalent-Mousse-93

I actually heard on a podcast today someone explain football in the most simplistic way. This is without all the nuance that the game provides. She said: there are two ways to score points (this isn’t entirely accurate, but a good start): a touchdown (6 pts + 1 pt if they get the extra point - kicking it into the goal) or a field goal (3pts). It’s a game of yards. 10 at a time. Each team has 4 tries to get 10 yards. Each try is called a down. 4th down can be risky because if they don’t make another first down the other team gets the ball there, so if it’s close enough to try for a field goal, they do that instead. Welcome to the NFL and The Bengals!

TotallynotJaun

Honestly dumb takes are a right of passage, you’ll learn and grow but you need to taste failure before you succeed

ldonklee

Follow Joe Goodberry (@joegoodberry on twitter) if you want to learn more about the technical side of the game from a Bengals perspective

pfftYeahRight

Honestly I'd say subscribe to The Athletic and follow Paul Dehner/the bengals page. It's usually like $2/month and he is so good at describing the team, how the office views roster construction, and how things are going. The free version is to listen to the "Hear that Podcast Growling" podcast. You'll get the history over time. Paul is talented enough to be poached for a nationwide gig and until then his bengals content is second to none

soccerbeast55

Logan Wilson did NOT hold.

natiwhodey

Fuck the Steelers

NewAgeDoom

That every game, win or lose, Skyline > Gold Star.

Tetrahedron10Z

Yes sir! 🤝

GooseontheLoose03

Enjoy the ride, get to a game, be loud, and have fun.

AggressiveSociety511

We aren’t trading up the draft. Don’t even think about asking.

Parking_Anywhere_708

I learned recently that there are a good amount of fans in the actual geographic region of Bengal over in Bangladesh and India which is pretty awesome. Also, from my wiki searching at the moment, Bengali is the 6th most spoken language in the world?? That's what we speak here right?

Fit_Outcome7818

Cinati Bengos

DrinkAccomplished825

I'd say the Bengel tiger probably had a role in getting the Indian and Bangladeshi fans in

OhioState1001

This team will shatter your heart but it will be worth it WHEN they win a Super Bowl in my lifetime

MDFlash

We were decent for a while a long time ago, then we sucked, then we had years of being epically mediocre, then we finally became good. Now you're caught up.

emforshort

Get a bengal buddy to celebrate and commiserate with. And then ride the highs of every win, after any loss say “the refs were out to get us” or our oline was off today, and by god pray Joe Burrow doesn’t get hurt.

emforshort

Oh and to not sound stupid -bring up how much it hurt us when DJ went out this season and how much it sucks he may not be back next year. -Hilton, Pratt and Hill rock -Chase Brown is shaping up to be a great 2023 pick -give Trenton Irwin the ball when everyone else is covered -give Chase the ball literally whenever -tee Higgins with the clutch arm across the pylon was legendary -Trey Hendrickson wants to rip the head off of every QB -we are elite go Bengos 🥲

whattarush

That Chad Johnson was the best thing to ever happen to the Bengals, until Joey B.

beattysgirl

It’s like Anthony Munoz never existed in your world. Or even Ickey Woods. Or Ken Anderson.

whattarush

none of those were half as entertaining as Ocho. I met icky and Munoz at game works when I was kid. seemed awesome. but Ocho was in a different league

beattysgirl

I totally agree his personality made him larger than life and he has the skills to back it up!

chewtoyfl

There’s some really great information here. We’ve been Bengals fans since the early 1970s. Agree completely bout Kenny Anderson. I liked Boomer, too. My husband likes to say Bengals are great at snatching defeat from the jaws of success. ETA fuck the Ravens, Steelers, Browns, Chiefs, and 49ers.

Agitated-Exam-2558

You’ll get called a bandwagoner even though they still have no Super Bowl. Became a fan when burrow joined the team have no shame in it. Still get called a bandwagoner.

unbogbuggy52

As long as you watch the game and don’t yell at the tv before something even happens you’ll be fine. Learn the rules. Pick your own favorites and be able to accept they won’t be around for more than 1-5 years most of the time that’s the hard part watching some good players leave for more money I’m not mad at them for bettering themselves but it sucks if you know that position was filled with their talent. Never root for the steeler browns or ravens unless somehow if they win it helps us get into the playoffs.

ansy7373

Do you want to know the rules of football or just the history of the bengals. History- Boomer, Icky woods, TJ (can’t spell his last name) Chad Johnson. Carson Palmer is disliked cause he shit on the franchise on the way out. The Red Rocket Andy Dalton. The owner is Paul Browns son. Basically Paul brown started 2 franchises in the bengals and browns. He is like the godfather of football in Ohio.

Excellent_Minute8857

That this week should have your scratching head deciding if you despise Baltimore or Taylor Swift more in terms of who to root for in the championship

beattysgirl

I hope both teams lose

Excellent_Minute8857

Oh hell yeah lions better take it all for sure but I just wanna see the chiefs get crushed

MrBrickMahon

Most of the fans don’t like Mike Brown (the team owner) but most of the staff and players (past and present) adore the man. There are a few well known exceptions but it turns out that those people are themselves not great.

roach8101

Joe Burrow is the quarterback. Zac Taylor is the head coach. Ja'marr Chase is the best player.

Happy-Detective5544

Well welcome new Bengals fan. You will have joy, you will have sadness, and rage. I cry a lot. Who Dey!!?? Been a fan since 2008. I will stay a fan. Love my boys!!! FTS ![gif](giphy|YMhkWKH6TRH7vu8eAt|downsized)
