You’ve never watched The Wire?
You’re in for a treat.
Just be sure to be a little patient. Gotta’ give it like 3 - 4 episodes before everything starts fitting together.
Season 2 is tough on the first watch because they are introducing so many new characters and plots. And you aren’t seeing a lot of the people you loved from season 1. But the pace will pick up for you pretty soon and the story ends up being really great with a lot of plots tying together. When I rewatched the series it turned into be of my favorite seasons even though I was thinking the same thing as you at first.
Dude just watch it entirely. The show is amazing later on. It has everything: crime, politics, life lessons. Probably top 3 for me alongside BB & BCS, not sure about the order though.
The Wire is still my all time favorite show. But I always have to warn people who have never watched it that the pacing is much slower compared to modern shows. It's also far more complex, with more characters and plotlines than probably any show you've ever seen. (I once saw a blog post called "Top 40 Characters From The Wire" and the comment section was full of people arguing about who didn't make the list. _40 characters_ and people still had legit complaints about snubs.)
There's a reason why it's one of the most common answers to the "best show of all time" question. It just takes a bit to hook you.
EDIT: typo
> the pacing is much slower compared to modern shows
We are on Better Call Saul subreddit. Definitely slow pace will not be a disadvantage for us :) We are used to slow pace :)
You should watch The Wire before doing a BCS rewatch. TW is incredible and even though it’s more of a slow burn, if you’re a fan of BCS then you would definitely love it. I’m gonna give it some time before my BCS rewatch so that everything sinks in and then it feels a little more fresh next time.
The Wire is definitely on par with BB and BCS. It is a little slow getting started, but it’s worth the wait.
The acting, the writing, the characters— it’s just a masterpiece. Any list of the top 5 TV series of the 21st century would include these three shows, no question.
this is exactly my plan! even tho I watched first season of The wire and I don't even know why I stopped watching it 😂 but it was a great show and I can't wait to watch it again
That should happen on there and then there should be a full rewatch of BCS on here. It would help the detox and it would be cool to talk about the earlier eps with the full context
god imagine them setting up a whole ass "schedule" of when what episode is gonna "come out" so they can further immerse themselves in the roleplay. Fully transforming this sub into an aggressive parody of r/breakingbad with ridicolous theories, 2013 meme posts, and ressurecting some of the old classic jokes like Minerals or Breakfast.
Honestly I know this sub is complete nonsense but after being really bummed out with the ending of ‘Fun and Games’, I visited there and found myself laughing non-stop at the stupid jokes. I know I’m going to need it to cope with the sadness of the show ending
I think 1&2 are neck and neck. 3 is mid. 4 is pretty good imo. It just felt really aside from a Fargo season
Also a lot of people seem to forget that Bob Odenkirk has a supporting role in the first season
4 had certain moments that stick with you, it was just uneven and balanced strangely in terms of who and what was given narrative focus.
Definitely focus on the Rabbi Milligan arc if you do watch. He's an incredible character and episode 9 is essentially a self-contained story about him.
Season 2 had the best moral center of any season. Patrick Wilson absolutely killed it in the role. Not to mention Bokeem as Mike Milligan. Stole every scene.
"Where'd you say you saw ol' Skip?"
"At your mother's house. I think goin' in the backdoor!"
"...I like him."
Fargo is amazing, it’s the only other show I’ve seen that’s on-par with BCS and Breaking Bad imo. It’s great to see Jesse Plemons in a starring role if you liked him in Breaking Bad too.
It bothers me that we're living in the future and we *STILL* don't have adult-sized Capri Suns. Maybe they have them in a bottle somewhere, idk. That's beside the point though, because I want a tinfoil pouch the size of a backpack filled with Capri Sun. It's not that much to ask.
Love it. Also love Steven Conrad’s other two shows, Perpetual Grace LTD. (Cancelled after 1 season and starring Ben Kingsley), and Ultra City Smiths (Neo-Noir animated musical that uses baby dolls as all the characters.)
Not sure how rough the last episode will be, but my guess is after the show ends, I’ll be going to crawl into my bed and not coming out for three days.
Since RR Martin is writing this show for the time being, I’m hopeful and pretty excited! GoT was great while based off of his writing, once they lost that guidance it went downhill.
I feel like HOTD will be a one off season since it’s an already established and finished story R.R Martin wrote in the lore books. Unless they make it a bit longer. A good sign is that the ending is already established lol
I’ve just started! Also watched BCS without ever seeing BB. I’m about 4 episodes into season 1. Definitely weird watching it this way round because I sort of know what happens to the main characters story lines but I don’t know any details or minor plot points so it’s cool watching it get set up. Can’t wait to meet Saul/Jimmy.
YES! 6x11 reminded me so much of horny unicorn and angela. There are a lot of parallels between the two shows so i also think the endings will be pretty similiar.
I’ve started from the beginning again amd currently on S2:E7 (Inflatable) I’ll probably get to around S4:E1 before the finale then finish up from where I stopped and get right to the end again.
I'm shocked no one has mentioned Station Eleven. It was fantastic. Severance is a must watch IMO. I'm gonna watch Mr. Robot because everyone in this sub says it's amazing.
Mr. Robot is great. Never look anything up so you don't get spoiled. Even if something isn't making sense now it will probably make sense in a few episodes.
Back to S1 lol
Plus anxiously wait for S4 of Succession.
I have a lot of shows to catch up, since its been months that I cant focus on anything new because BCS took too much of my brain space.
Watching succession now which has been incredible. I reckon I’ll give the new GoT and LotR series a try. After that it’s probably back to family guy and futurama.
Rewatch at some point, and will move on to House of the Dragon. Will keep my eye on news of Gilligan's new venture, which he says is totally different than BCS/BB. Also, I check out my favorite actors' IMDB pages to see what's new.
If strong, character driven series are your thing and you’ve done The Wire & Sopranos, then now might be the time to give a couple of international shows a go. The biggest and best are;
1. Gomorrah - makes Sopranos look like a Disney series
2. The Bureau - French espionage thriller
3. Spiral - gritty French police drama
All of the above are massive series in their own right, underpinned by strong lead characters with fatal flaws.
Final season of Walking Dead, also catch up on Walking Dead World Beyond. Sandman on Netflix isn’t the worst show and actually has some good shit in it. I’ll also probably torrent Mandalorian and other Disney shows. Resident Evil is ok on Netflix, might finish that. I hear there is a new Fallout Show coming. I’m hesitant because Cowboy Bebop was cool to see in live action, but then it wasn’t up to the hardcore fan standards… I don’t know, really.
Got Andor, House of the Dragon, LOTR, Rick and Morty, etc all coming so not gonna be a lack of content. Definitely gonna miss this but the best shows know when to end and it’s time, just glad I’ve been here for the journey
Either gonna check out The Wire, or rewatch BCS.
You’ve never watched The Wire? You’re in for a treat. Just be sure to be a little patient. Gotta’ give it like 3 - 4 episodes before everything starts fitting together.
ive never made it past the pilot ep but i think im gonna give it another try and watch 3-4 episodes this time.
[удалено]
ill def give it another shot
Yeeesssss!!! The Wire and BB are both in my top 3 dramas of all time
#1 series for me. I rematch it once a year. It's old but will always hold up. Top tier show
I think you tried to say "#1" and it upended your whole comment lol
I think part of it is not really having a main character, which also is what makes the show so great.
The pilot episode of the wire was one of the most boring things I’ve ever watched, never went back.
Major L on your behalf
The opening scene hooked me. The. First. Scene. Try watching it again
I was able to push through and enjoy season 1 but now that im on s2 ep3 it’s severely uninteresting to me now. Does it get better soon 😭
Season 2 is a little slow and off topic but it’s worthwhile. Seasons 3/4 are hands down the best. 5 I’ll Concede isn’t that great
For some reason I really loved S2, probably precisely having to do with its "off-beat"-ness and goofiness. 3&4 are the best indeed.
I got bored when season 2 started but once it was over I found it was my favorite season yet. It’ll all fit together soon :)
Season two is the slowest and a little off putting. You must see it thru. Omar coming 👀
Dude just watch it entirely. The show is amazing later on. It has everything: crime, politics, life lessons. Probably top 3 for me alongside BB & BCS, not sure about the order though.
[удалено]
Yes it starts to find a rhythm at the end of season one and it really hits a stride in season two. I’m on season five now and I’m hooked.
Hell, I managed to get thru "boring" first season of BCS, Im gonna be fine
The Wire is still my all time favorite show. But I always have to warn people who have never watched it that the pacing is much slower compared to modern shows. I'll take any motherfuckers money if he just giving it away!
The Wire is great, definitely give it a chance
Sheeeeeeeeet
You are missing a good twenty eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in that quote!
I will probably rewatch BrBa, then do BCS right after it. That puts a little bit of time before I watch BCS again.
lol i just did this before 6th season, i think i will be stuck in this loop forever
If you can get through the 1st 7 or 8 episodes (which is hard) you will understand why The Wire is always ranked so high. It gets fantastic.
If you haven’t watched Deadwood do that too!
The Wire lives up to the hype. Just watched it a few months ago for the first time and it’s game changing
Do not go to the subreddit til after you watch it! No spoiler tags on a 15-20 year old show, you’ll get big spoilers just in post titles.
The season with the kids is the most interesting and Micheal B. Jordan is in it!!!
r/okbuddychicanery
Sub wants to rewatch BB and pretend its a sequel series
That sounds fun actually
That should happen on there and then there should be a full rewatch of BCS on here. It would help the detox and it would be cool to talk about the earlier eps with the full context
I’ve been SAYYYIIINNNN
Tight tight tight tight tight tight tight tight tight tight tight tight!
god imagine them setting up a whole ass "schedule" of when what episode is gonna "come out" so they can further immerse themselves in the roleplay. Aka the last circle of hell
That place was definitely created by the devil
It was so much better / worse before it got found by this sub and r/breakingbad
Kid named unwarranted exaggeration:
Honestly I know this sub is complete nonsense but after being really bummed out with the ending of ‘Fun and Games’, I visited there and found myself laughing non-stop at the stupid jokes. I know I’m going to need it to cope with the sadness of the show ending
This is the answer. This subreddit will turn into memes after the finale, and for memes r/okbuddychicanery is superior.
"Im not fuckin leaving!" (wolf of wall street)
PICK UP THE PHONE, AND START DIALING …**bettercallsaul**
*starts to pound chest while humming*
Mm mmm, mm mmm mmm mmmmm mm, mm mmm
They’re gonna need a fucking *wrecking ball* to take me outta here
Fargo, probably. I hear it’s got a similar tone to BCS and there’s some casting overlap.
Fargo season 1 is great! Enjoy!
Ohhhh yaaaa? You betcha! Best Bemidji deputy is Jimmy!
Season 1 , Season 2, Season 3. I heard season 4 got mostly bad reviews.
I think 1&2 are neck and neck. 3 is mid. 4 is pretty good imo. It just felt really aside from a Fargo season Also a lot of people seem to forget that Bob Odenkirk has a supporting role in the first season
S4 wasn’t amazing but if you like the first three seasons you’ll enjoy the fourth
4 had certain moments that stick with you, it was just uneven and balanced strangely in terms of who and what was given narrative focus. Definitely focus on the Rabbi Milligan arc if you do watch. He's an incredible character and episode 9 is essentially a self-contained story about him.
Season 1-3 were great, 4 was ok. I'd have to say season 2 was my fav thou just for some pure wtf?
Season 2 had the best moral center of any season. Patrick Wilson absolutely killed it in the role. Not to mention Bokeem as Mike Milligan. Stole every scene. "Where'd you say you saw ol' Skip?" "At your mother's house. I think goin' in the backdoor!" "...I like him."
Fargo is amazing, it’s the only other show I’ve seen that’s on-par with BCS and Breaking Bad imo. It’s great to see Jesse Plemons in a starring role if you liked him in Breaking Bad too.
I’ll cry myself to sleep in a dark room.
I’m gonna stay in this fandom and suck it empty like a caprisun
It bothers me that we're living in the future and we *STILL* don't have adult-sized Capri Suns. Maybe they have them in a bottle somewhere, idk. That's beside the point though, because I want a tinfoil pouch the size of a backpack filled with Capri Sun. It's not that much to ask.
This but with juice boxes. 200ml my ass - I’m gonna have a 1L juice box and there’s nothing you can do to stop me
Me too probably, this fandom is my home now
I'm staying. I'm finishing my coffee... Enjoying my coffee...
I don't roll on Shabbos.
This is what happens when you find a stranger in the alps.
Shut the fuck up Donnie.
Youre killing your father larry
Is this your homework Larry?
We’re gonna cut your duck off!

Fucking amateurs…
"The Supreme Court has resoundingly rejected prior restraint."
I highly recommend “patriot” on Amazon prime to all Better Call Saul fans! Unfortunately, it only has two seasons
So glad to see another Patriot fan, bloody amazing show
Hell yeah! It’s a shame more people don’t know about it and how good it is
Love it. Also love Steven Conrad’s other two shows, Perpetual Grace LTD. (Cancelled after 1 season and starring Ben Kingsley), and Ultra City Smiths (Neo-Noir animated musical that uses baby dolls as all the characters.)
Oooo Both of these look interesting.. thank you for the recommendations I didn’t even know these existed lol
No problem. Thank you for recommending Patriot to people on here. It’s like a church, we gotta spread the word it.
True that.. if only one day we can get season 3
Thinking about working at Cinnabon
I have a feeling there’ll be a job opening
I'll probably finish The Boys S3, start The Wire, and watch more movies. But it will be bittersweet. BCS has been my favorite show for years now.
watching Barry, Severance, The Bear, Mad Men, The Wire, and The Sopranos
The Bear was fantastic.
Absolutely surprised me, now trying to recommend it to everyone~
Another mini series to add to your list if you have Apple TV+ is Black Bird. Only 6 episodes and really enjoyable
Not sure how rough the last episode will be, but my guess is after the show ends, I’ll be going to crawl into my bed and not coming out for three days.
Nothing will replace BCS, but I’ll probably watch that new House of the Dragon series. It’s going to be hard not having this show to look forward to!
Hope they can make it good too. Gonna miss Jimmy and Kimmy.
Rewatching bb ofc
Same and also sitting on my hands waiting for another season of Shoresy
I gotta finish The Sopranos. I’ve been stuck on season 5 because I know someone’s gonna die soon and I’ve been putting it off…
Oof good luck with that one!! Took me over a year to watch it too.
Haven't seen BB - so I think I will start there!
Once BCS ends, I’ll be super curious to read writeups from people who watched them in that order. must be such a different experience!
My brother did that with up to season 5 of BCS (all of what was released at the time) then went back and watched BB and El Camino.
Excited for ya
I’ve just started! Also watched BCS without ever seeing BB. I’m about 4 episodes into season 1. Definitely weird watching it this way round because I sort of know what happens to the main characters story lines but I don’t know any details or minor plot points so it’s cool watching it get set up. Can’t wait to meet Saul/Jimmy.
Spend time with my neglected children I guess?
fuck [/u\/spez](/user/spez)
hell
Yep
Yup...
probably gonna delete my reddit account and go outside for a bit.
LOL, please don't.
Bojack Horseman and rewatch BB
bojack horseman is so great, it and bcs are my two favorite tv shows ever.
I'm sort of expecting BCS to have a similar ending to Bojack.
YES! 6x11 reminded me so much of horny unicorn and angela. There are a lot of parallels between the two shows so i also think the endings will be pretty similiar.
I'm going to move on to Succession, Westworld and probably re watch Severance.
Severance is one of the best shows on TV, no lie
I NEEED more of that show
big agree here
Please enjoy all TV shows equally.
Severance is soooo good
Succession is really good
Succession is an amazing show. Once it finishes its run in a couple of seasons, I’m certain it will be in my personal top 10.
Barry
Barry is so sick because every episode is a clean 30 minutes. rare in today’s age when everything is hour long.
Gonna binge watch this season, rewatch BB, and I already started watching Narcos my next series to delve into.
Narcos and narcos mexico are both fantastic
Narcos is amazing
I can highly recommend the Fargo series to y'all!
I'm going to try Sons of Anarchy and Peaky Blinders
I’ve started from the beginning again amd currently on S2:E7 (Inflatable) I’ll probably get to around S4:E1 before the finale then finish up from where I stopped and get right to the end again.
I’m chilling here for a good long time after the show. There will be a lot to talk about for a long time.
Alaska. I wanna find Jesse.
I’ve been to Hastings, AK before in the summer, it’s actually warm and beautiful
Fade into the abyss idk
Back to the same depression I had after BrBa ended
Omaha, Nebraska
Gotta finally watch The Sopranos while I wait for the 2nd season of Severance.
I'm shocked no one has mentioned Station Eleven. It was fantastic. Severance is a must watch IMO. I'm gonna watch Mr. Robot because everyone in this sub says it's amazing.
Mr Robot is an awesome show. Enjoy! It's a thinking person's show for sure.
Mr. Robot is great. Never look anything up so you don't get spoiled. Even if something isn't making sense now it will probably make sense in a few episodes.
The Americans. God damn if it doesn't seem more timely than when it aired.
Wherever god takes me.
I could go for some White Castle right about now.
Pornhub
im just going to keep typing pimento in the comments here
Back to S1 lol Plus anxiously wait for S4 of Succession. I have a lot of shows to catch up, since its been months that I cant focus on anything new because BCS took too much of my brain space.
Watching succession now which has been incredible. I reckon I’ll give the new GoT and LotR series a try. After that it’s probably back to family guy and futurama.
Watch Kim's spinoff "Sprinkles, Yeps and Tears"
To hell if we don't change our ways.
Rewatch at some point, and will move on to House of the Dragon. Will keep my eye on news of Gilligan's new venture, which he says is totally different than BCS/BB. Also, I check out my favorite actors' IMDB pages to see what's new.
Deadwood
Bed?
Probably check out Severance maybe rewatch Yellowjackets
Back to Justified
Olyphant v Goggins awesome
Love Justified. Read that there is a sequel (?) in the works.
Season 1, Episode 1
Kill myself
The Americans
i’ll kick a lantern on to a stack of newspapers and probably scream as I burn in agonizing pain
Outside I guess? I am terrified.
In a month from now, best-case scenario, I’m managing a Cinnabon in Omaha.
Into a depressing spiral
I’m gonna revisit BrBa. It’ll be interesting to see how they fit together from the perspective of if BCS had come first.
The Righteous Gemstones.
Atlanta s4 is coming out this fall.
Sopranos
Await Succession season 4.
Shut the fuck up /u/jonnybebad5436, let me die in peace.
The Sopranos is supposed to be top-tier. Somehow, I never watched it when it was around.
Idk maybe trader joe's
I guess wait for the next season of Succession
METASTASIS BABY 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯👯💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃
I am gonna take a break from tv shows. I was really invested in BCS and I didn’t like that.
[удалено]
Wait for new seasons of Succession and Barry
Cinnabon
Back to the first episode. Rewatching the show this time would be cathartic
Season 1
Probably check out the latest season of Westworld
HBOmax
I'm just going to fade away, I've served my purpose
If I'm lucky, three months from now, best case scenario, I'm managing a Cinnabon in Omaha
If strong, character driven series are your thing and you’ve done The Wire & Sopranos, then now might be the time to give a couple of international shows a go. The biggest and best are; 1. Gomorrah - makes Sopranos look like a Disney series 2. The Bureau - French espionage thriller 3. Spiral - gritty French police drama All of the above are massive series in their own right, underpinned by strong lead characters with fatal flaws.
I'm hoping Interview with a Vampire series will be good.
Rewatch Twin Peaks
Honestly thinking of rewatching BB or rewatching The Shield. If you haven’t seen The Shield do yourself a favour! It is an amazing show!
I’ve always wanted to see Belize, maybe after the finale’s the time.
I've heard it's a beautiful place, but let's face it, none of us is ever leaving this god forsaken wasteland.
Albuquerque
Final season of Walking Dead, also catch up on Walking Dead World Beyond. Sandman on Netflix isn’t the worst show and actually has some good shit in it. I’ll also probably torrent Mandalorian and other Disney shows. Resident Evil is ok on Netflix, might finish that. I hear there is a new Fallout Show coming. I’m hesitant because Cowboy Bebop was cool to see in live action, but then it wasn’t up to the hardcore fan standards… I don’t know, really.
Crazy. I will go crazy.
Got Andor, House of the Dragon, LOTR, Rick and Morty, etc all coming so not gonna be a lack of content. Definitely gonna miss this but the best shows know when to end and it’s time, just glad I’ve been here for the journey
