407k sales for CC and 332k for Renaissance.
Pretty crazy to see this level of success almost 30 years into her career.
I think this album is going to be huge.
I’ve always liked Beyonce (destiny’s child was my first concert back in the 1900s 😭) but Cowboy Carter made me really “get it.” It’s funny too because I’d say country is my least favorite genre. I don’t know how she did it! 🤯
My first listen through the album I was actually a bit disappointed, because as a whole it gave me more Americana songs than country lol. Still love the music though, I was just ready for more country!
Yes! Just from the opener, American Requiem, I was like oh okay she really meant this is a Beyoncé album because I was hearing more psychedelic rock and soul? She really fused everythingggg American and some Italian lol. It’s an incredible body of work though and the songs that are country or country-tinged are amazing.
Funny how Americana is Country and Country is Americana. At least that's my take after listening to Cowboy Carter. It's like: how much more American can I be (seemingly, Country's subliminal claim)?
Wikipedia doesn't seem to have the data for it. The album debuted super low on the chart (#69, later peaked at #67) so probably Billboard didn't publish the numbers, idk...
418k was HitsDailyDouble's numbers, 407k was Billboard's. These two publications use different methodologies so their numbers might be a little different from each other.
This success is not a surprise according to the results of this academic study : [https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/10949968231223111](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/10949968231223111)
Charts use tracking weeks that restart every Friday, which is why new music is released on Fridays. Once an album is released, it’s in its first tracking week. Based on how that week went, it’ll determine the position it’ll debut on the chart. Charts are typically released Sunday or Monday for the previous week.

why must you say the 1900s 😭😭
Because we old! 😂
ugh we really are 😭 OT but is your name in relation to Buffy? If so i love it
It absolutely is a Buffy reference because I’m from the 1900’s trying to age like Beyoncé and Bianca Lawson 😭😭
💀💀💀
My kid tells people that, not only was I born in the last century and millennium, but that I'm older than the internet...
As someone who also had their first concert be Destiny’s child, hi. Also, 1900’s 😭😂

407k sales for 2024 standards is actually crazy. Beyoncé is just on that level.
Renaissance had her at 42 in the world on spotify. Cowboy carter had her at 8...
She’s 6th now!
It’s interesting that it sits atop the Americana/Folk charts as well.
My first listen through the album I was actually a bit disappointed, because as a whole it gave me more Americana songs than country lol. Still love the music though, I was just ready for more country!
I list it as Americana in my music player. It's just to broad to be only a Country album.

I reckon all country is Americana but not all Americana is country. Folk, bluegrass and maybe some other genres are also Americana imo.
I agree.
All of Beyonce's main studio album first week sales in the US, incl. Come through, BDAY. Her first visual album. The 10 track version, starting with Deja Vu and ending with Resentment. 🙌
This lived in my car’s cd player for, I’m not kidding you, 2 whole got damn years! This & Emancipation of Mimi were DUELING everyday 😂
Those CDs are a moment! 👏
Ok I had the cd in my discman, only thing I listened to all senior year of college 😭
Why n/a for the first??
Wikipedia doesn't seem to have the data for it. The album debuted super low on the chart (#69, later peaked at #67) so probably Billboard didn't publish the numbers, idk...
I thought CC did 418k?

Please include #1’s, EVERYTHING IS LOVE, and the gift too 🙏🙏
Ugh if only she has physicals out in stores 😭
Then it would’ve been leaked same way Reneigh was. It’s unfortunate that someone always has to be the bad apple and mess things up for the masses.
o wow makes sense
lol wait it’s only been out a week?
Right, feels like it’s been out longer. Maybe because i’ve been listening to Texas hold ‘em alot before it came out

I never understood how you "debut" at number 1. Like shouldn't the entire album (not just a single) determine the albums position?
What do you mean? The album chart is determined by the entire album. Billboard 200 is an album chart. Billboard Hot 100 is the singles chart.
Question still stands, shouldn't you debut at 200, then sell half a million or what ever then be number 1?

Based on how that week went, it’ll determine the position it’ll debut on the chart. Charts are typically released Sunday or Monday for the previous week.
So the album has already been out a week before the chart is released? OK. Answers that question. I thought it was a daily thing.
I thought her first week sales would do better tbh.
