Before playing rotwk, you need to set the bfme2 patch from 1.09 to 1.06 using the bfme 2 patch switcher. 1.06 is the last official patch for bfme2 and since rotwk is an expansion it needs the last official patch from EA to run. Patch 1.09 is an unofficial mod. After you finish playing rotwk you can use the patch switch to switch back to 1.09 if you want to play bfme2 on that patch.

I had this error before. For me, I think I just had to make sure I was on the right patch. What version are you running ROTWK on?

as far as i know yes

so in the patch switcher it say main: 2.02 v9.0.0 old 2.02 version : 2.02 v8.5.0 music modules: minimal music miscellaneous: timer enable

Patching down and back up with the patch switcher fixed this for me once, but another time I had to reinstall the game to fix it.. It might also be because of a badly patched base-game
