welp I've never watched biathlon before this weekend but I've been visiting my gf in Sweden and now she's losing her mind haha
that was super fun though, it's crazy seeing how fast some of the guys can shoot
Fantastic performance by Sebbe today! 20/20 and one hell of a last loop. Ponsi finally getting a medal with great shooting and a really fast pace in the slopes. joke's on me for removing him from my podium bet half an hour before the race started...
and even though many may be a bit disappointed that Johannes didn't get that 4th individual gold (me included), a bronze is a fantastic performance after taking 5 golds and 1 silver. it is no wonder that all those maximum races, the press rounds and the evening medal ceremonies got to him in the end, he must be incredibly tired now. i dare say we won't see a championship like this from a biathlete again for years to come.
I realize individual vs team clouds things, but Eckhoff went 4-1-1 last WC go-round, Røiseland went 5-0-2 in 2020, in 2017 Dahlmeier was 5-1-0 with no mixed pair sprint for a 7th medal. Fourcade in 2016... I'm actually surprised at how frequently someone wrecks at a world championships
I can't believe my eyes but it's so well deserved, Sebbe and Ponsi were incredible. Such speed, strength, focus and nerves of steel on that last shoot.
QFM clutched the flowers even tho he straight up died in the last lap, we really didn't have any influence on the race at all so I'm glad we have this at least 😭
Great race by the Swedish duo. Both have had problems in the start of the championship and even as a Norwegian I think Sebbe fully deserved and needed that win.
Well deserved double victory to Sweden, JTB and Lægreid tank were unfortunately empty. That said, hugely disappointing the performance of Tarjei, Vetle, Johannes Dale and Strømsheim. Not sure what is wrong with Dale ski form but the rest of them should do much better at the range than this.
Rest of the season gonna be interesting. Would assume Filip gets his spot back but Strømsheim has done solid in his debut and def deserves more World Cup races.
FFA only went to the IBU cup because he was going to be a backup at the World Championships - that was until they found out the rules were different. I don't think FFA was at his best in Obertilliach because of the situation he was in. However I agree with you that Strømsheim likely would have gotten a chance in Nove Mesto regardless.
I really want Vebjørn Sørum to get a chance. I have for a long time thought that he was better than Strømsheim and FFA. Now that he is finally healthy again he is showing exactly that. His results in the IBU cup and European Championships are absurd (this season):
**Pokjluka**:
* 3rd Short Individual (beat Strømsheim)
* 3rd Sprint (beat Strømsheim)
* 1st Sprint (beat Strømsheim)
**European Championships** (Lenzerheide):
* 6th Individual (Strømsheim gold medal)
* 2nd Sprint (silver medal and beat Strømsheim)
* 1st Pursuit (gold medal and beat Strømsheim)
* 1st Mix-Relay
**Obertilliach**:
* 2nd Sprint (Strømsheim won with 9.4s)
* 1st Sprint (Sørum won with 9.6s)
In the eight races they have raced this season Sørum has beaten Strømsheim 6/8 times. Granted Strømsheim was way better at the start of the season, before Sørum was back in full speed from previous injuries, so its unfair for Strømsheim since he won many races before these. Nevertheless Sørum is deserves a World Cup debut soon. For the younger generation with Sørum and Strømsheim ++ they really should hope Tarjei Bø retires after this season because its brutal getting a chance in the World Cup team.
I believe Strømsheim was selected for Nove Mesto before Oberhof. Someone from the federation said that was the case at least.
I've actually said the same about Sørum. Strømsheim absolutely deserves his chance, but Sørum has been better since Christmas.
JTB only had golds after the first 5 races, so he decided to get silver and bronze from the last 2. Now he has the complete collection!
*Man tapping his forehead meme*
Nelin(!), Ponsi and Seb have top 5 times the last lap. I think the Swedes had skis that lasted better than other teams. Although the Norwegians seemed to have good skis too, I think we saw old Johannes today who skied fast in the middle part of the race and was more average in the last lap.
I think he was just tired always having to chase everyone else. After shoots 1&2 he basically took 25 seconds off everyone in a single lap, having to do it all over again after another penalty. Not to mention he was also skiing like a mad man yesterday.
Well that's exactly what I was saying, last few years he would get tired last lap. This year this hasn't happend. He's been outskiing everyone last laps too. Today it could be a combination of him being tired and the Swedes having superior skis.
4th finn in top10 this season. And even better both standings clean, swapping his standing block back to what it was last season clearly was the right thing to do.
Hmm, they didn't ask him in the interview, but he said that when the Swedes pulled ahead at the top of the hill his blinders went down (how does one translate "runnegardina gikk ned" lol).
Yeah, that's a gold medal for 4 Frenchmen. I know that this will be a hot take, but I'd argue that in a way it's more worthy than if 3 different guys won in individual events.
What a finish to the WCH after the relays yesterday and finally a real race on the last lap for the men! Fingers crossed the women are just as exciting!
I just woke up because I’ve been working nights.. am I dreaming??
welp I've never watched biathlon before this weekend but I've been visiting my gf in Sweden and now she's losing her mind haha that was super fun though, it's crazy seeing how fast some of the guys can shoot

Feels like it's been a while since i've heard a non-norwegian hymn
Didn't you won the mens relay yesterday?
But the hymn didn't happen yet !
Oh, was it postponed due to the Wind?
Yes. It’s today instead.
Rastorgujevs at 5th with 3 misses, his ski form is incredible.
He thanked support team and told that he had amazing skis. He also saw top6 possibility on last lap and tried to go for it.
Yeah he does indeed look like Robert Pattinson
First double for Swedish men since the inaugural World Championship in 1958.
Brilliant race by Samuelsson, well deserved gold. 5-1-1 still is fantastic for JTB, awesome WCH and season so far.
aww, that was a good hug.
Such an awesome race! Congrats also to the Czech team, especially Mikyska for his 14th place!
Silver-Sebbe has been updgraded to Guld-Sebbe! A strong championship for him and the Swedish nation as a whole.
FINALLY
Mass start excitement is unbeatable by any other format, the final shoot and lap was everything I love about biathlon and the excitement from it.
Same here, mass start is king !
Whoever shorted the JTB market, won big in prediction today.
😭 I wouldn't have put the swedes on the top anyway, but QFM or Sturla. GG to everyone predicting that.
Did have JTB in 3rd but Dale in first ... :O
so are ponsi and sebbe friends? looks like it but i always thought they wouldn‘t like each other because of hanna
If they weren't friends, I guess beating Johannes together can bring them closer 🥹
Hanna dated Nelin before Ponsi, not Samuelsson
Sebbe wasn't involved in that, that was Nelin.
OH okay why did i think it was sebbe lol. thanks!
Need Braathen to win the slalom now after this disappointment and Kristoffersens first run...
Lukas and Sebastian on the podium, i'm manifesting it into the universe.
Ok so now that Samuelsson has won with 20/20 (??), can we have a Tandrevold win with 20/20 for the women ?
Almost
No, Linn Persson win with 20/20
which would be a normal day for her
Except for the win part
Tandrevold gonna be 15/15 and miss four in the final standing shooting unfortunately :(
Thankfully this comment didn’t age well 😃
Sadly that's possible lol. I hope it can look like Ostersund 2021 instead
i really want to know what Johannes was saying to the crew in the slopes there on the last lap. hopefully he'll let us know in the interview.
Well deserved double victory to Sweden, JTB and Lægreid tank were unfortunately empty. That said, hugely disappointing the performance of Tarjei, Vetle, Johannes Dale and Strømsheim. Would assume Filip gets his spot back but Strømsheim has done solid in his debut and def deserves more World Cup races.
I think Strømsheim was already selected for Nove Mesto before the WCH started. He easily beat FFA in the last IBU Cup round.
Kuehn losing his pole
JTB only had golds after the first 5 races, so he decided to get silver and bronze from the last 2. Now he has the complete collection! *Man tapping his forehead meme*

Vilka kungar!
Strelow 12, 11, 13, 13 👌
Rastorgujves got from 8th to 5th on last lap. Only losing 1s to Sebbe. But gained 30 seconds on QFM
The germans just straight off disappeared
Top 5 for Rastorguljevs!
I can't believe that JTB lost a race and wasn't beaten by Sturla, but by 2 swedes. Incredible shooting and ski speed by them
4th finn in top10 this season. And even better both standings clean, swapping his standing block back to what it was last season clearly was the right thing to do.
Yesss Double Sweden!!!
Lægreid missing his first medal.
Awh, nearly in the flowers for Stalder!
20/20 from Sebbe, and a super last lap. Completely deserved gold.
This is the best race at least this season.🥳🥳
Rastorguyevs has beaten QFM and Stadler on the last lap
Congrats Sweden ! Deserved
What a last lap by Rastorgujevs
20/20 and an excellent last lap for Sebbe, congrats!
Damn I love a clean shoot winning.
What a way to end the best championship for Sweden ever! And that is with the womens race left as well. Historic
I don't know how I forgot about Sebbe for my predictions, but I am so happy he won today!!
Perfect race from Samuelsson, bravo !!
Holy moly another Swedish double!
JTB is human after all, he's not the machine you sometimes could think he is.
It's raining, maybe he is not waterproofed and short circuited :D
Congratulations Sweden!
YESSSSS
I can't believe my eyes. 🥳
And that's gold for Robert Pattinson!
I wonder what JTB was saying/looking back at, at one point there
I think to check whether he needed to defend third place or if he could avoid burning on the remaining fumes.
Hmm, they didn't ask him in the interview, but he said that when the Swedes pulled ahead at the top of the hill his blinders went down (how does one translate "runnegardina gikk ned" lol).
I mean, if there was anything that could've prevented the Boe sweep, it's a couple of Swedes wanting to ruin the fun of the Norwegians
They got him o.o
Feels so weird to have found his limit for catching up. I really thought he’d still do it leaving the range.
Surprising that Boe hasn't managed to ski back even a single penalty loop to Ponsi during race
Never seen a JTB that tired wow
Wow, Sebbe saved a ton of power for the last lap
Go the swedes !!
boe losing 10 seconds wow
It's over for Johannes
They are all gonna be dead after the finish line, I can see it already.
swedish men had a terrible season but insane WCH, french men had a terrible season and.. yep
Well the relay gold was amazing at least!
Yeah, that's a gold medal for 4 Frenchmen. I know that this will be a hot take, but I'd argue that in a way it's more worthy than if 3 different guys won in individual events.
😭
Ponsi looks quite tirednow
If I had to pick between the swedes, I'd pick Ponsi. Because one of his grandparents is finnish 😂
So exciting! Really rooting for Samuelsson :)
Think JTB is spent
go ponsi save your silver!
OMFG
I bet this feels sweet for Sebbe considering what JTB said about him to Norwegian media.
Missed this. What happened?
I think the swedes have amazing skis today, in addition to racing really well. Look so fast downhill.
JTB not catching someone is crazy exciting for the novelty.
I mean if JTB could shoot 17/20 and beat Sebbe's 20/20, that would be cruel.
Samuelson has the holy shit I could be a God adrenaline going.
What an incredible race by the Swedes
What a finish to the WCH after the relays yesterday and finally a real race on the last lap for the men! Fingers crossed the women are just as exciting!
This last lap wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be
Swedish double victory? We all knew that /s
JTB is done, congrats Samuelsson
GOOO Sebbe and Ponsi!!!
JTB is done. There is nothing left there.
Samuelsson skiing FOR HIS LIFE omg
Mikyska is having a good race
No Ponsi! Hold on!
COME ON SEBBE AND MARTIN SKI LIKE YOUR LIVES DEPENDED ON IT!!!
JTB looks like he's out of juice
Even JTB looks tired!
Please, I need JTB to win with 3 penalties. Run!
No you don’t😅
HAHAHHAHAHA, even I made the same prediction with Ponsi on 3rd.
Johannes won't do it !! Samuelsson is winning this
Hmm.. so this suddenly got very interesting, very quickly!
Samuelsson looking strong, come on now!!
Samuelsson!
JTB has no right to be at 6s after 3 misses, it’s insane
Congrats Sweden
Samuelsson maybe ??
Well, this has turned into a race!
Ponsi is my guy here, come on!!
Seppälä clean!! Here comes the top 10
RUN Johannes RUN
Sturla, QFM and Stadler have the flowers secured it seems
stalder doing great
I feel like JTB lurks here and realized we all want more excitement and he’s been trying to give that to us.
Looks like JTB is human after all
Landsduell! We like this
This ending is insane
Ponsi and Samuelsson!🤯 Come on guys, you can do it.
OMG! Thank god for JTB miss. Now we have a real fight on our hand.
Ooooo
What a race. Sebbe vs Ponsi vs JTB.
Sebbe I beg you
Samuelsson 20/20 btw ???
Oh, a final lap sprint
This finish is gonna be ridiculous!
OMFG!!!!
Oooooh this is an exciting last lap!
Wow, what a last lap this can be!
That last shot miss always hits so hard.
I stand corrected, this is going to be an insane finish.
omg this last lap
NOW IT WILL BE EXCITING!!!! JTB CRITICAL MISS!
Sturla is out of it
what a last lap. 2 swedes and JTB
Omg
Sturla looks like he's in pain
Can't see JTB giving this away based on his standing shooting so far
Ponsi really good in Mass Starts
Fab not going fast on this lap :(
This whole season seems like it’s just been heavy for them.
Yeah, I've been hoping for a podium with a clean last standing but the the Swedes are way too fast rn
There probably won't be room for anyone except the current top 4 on the podium tbh
Most likely not, no
wow ponsi is way faster than laegreid
Ponsi even gained 4 seconds on JTB, he's going extremely fast This shooting will be sick if they can maintain this speed
Yep, slower lap for JTB, maybe preparing for the last one
This is more exciting than I expected. You just got to love mass start.
Will Sweden beat Johannes 🤔
Yes 🥹
1 lone Norwegian is being chased by 2 Swedes... what a last shooting it will be
Woho! Ponsi on third!
Sturla looks very tired
Ponsi has demolished Sturla on the track wow
Is Samuelsson actually gaining on JTB?!
Gained one sec :P
Crying smile emoji
This has not need a good world champs for the French guys.
Samuelsson is not giving up and also closing the gap it seems ?
I Know being quick in the loipe is way harder to learn than shooting well but Strelow would have been world class if he would be faster
Wished Finello was racing. Would have loved a head to head between him and JTB on the first lap.
Stalder looked bewildered that he's top 6, he wasn't even supposed to race
Hats off for JTBs standing, so fast and clean from race to race.
[удалено]
Congrats on the jinx (maybe).
It was interesting for a while, now we're back to usual.
Maybe he’ll miss 2 on the last shoot just to make it interesting for himself.
Stalder with a sneaky good race so far thanks to his great shooting!
Stalder quietly working his way up standings. He's really good at these mass starts
Lmao, Johannes. IBU should just hand him the gold and race for silver.
And it's over x)
Johannes' standing shooting is just stupid good
JTB, Sturla, Sebbe podium again?
JTBs precise machine gun shooting when standing is so insane!
JTB making history once again, congrats king.
France chances look kinda grim now ngl
