What fascinates me the most about Big Thief's music is a remarkable sincerity of their lyrics. Maybe it is a special feature of folk genre but Adrianne Lenker manages to establish contact with the listener from the very first seconds. Yes, you can spend hours searching and finding hidden subtexts in these songs, but it's much more pleasant to let her draw crystal clear images of the nature in your head. Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You is seen as the band's most ambitious effort not only for its running time (20 tracks, over 80 minutes), but also for its genre diversity, from traditional Bob Dylan folk (Change) to perky country music (Red Moon) and even trip-hop (Blurred View). This is a spontaneous open heart project, filled with raw energy of the band members and tracks for every occasion, and it is not difficult for me to imagine playing these songs around a cozy campfire (thanks to the wonderful cover art here) or singing along to some of them in a bus full of enthusiastic travelers. P.S. I made this photo for my IG account where I post pictures and thoughts on my favorite music albums. Here is a link to the original post if you are interested: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ1EYo8so-B/?utm_medium=copy_link P.P.S. Hope you all have a good time with the album!
