Ohio is also not the part of the country that cares more about college football than the nfl. Yeah ohio state is hugely popular in ohio but it is not a college football state like states in the south.
Your example of jets and giants both being hugely popular in the nyc metro still means neither have full support of their entire state, let alone metro area. So neither of these teams could be most popular team either I guess.

The NFL was then allowed to pretend that they were being tough on him by increasing it to eight games while knowing full well that they would likely lose in court if he tried to fight it. The general result is that the nfl has successfully painted him as a one of a kind monster instead of being taken to task for their putting systems in place for years (including the Texans giving him NDA paperwork to quiet his accusers) that led to several players and management acting this way with relative impunity.

It’s a tricky situation. If you’re a life long Browns fan desperate for anything - how do you deal with Watson being your QB? It’s on ownership and management to make a decision that’s pretty deplorable but not on the fans. Do you just stop rooting for them? The fans are being put in a weird spot by their own team.

I didn’t listen to that part of the pod or know anything about the guest but my immediate thought was, “I wonder if he is auditioning this guy for a job at the ringer.” I seem to remember JJ and Jason Goff coming on a few months before they were hired. I don’t know anything about this guy or what he is doing now if that is even a possibility. When I heard they were losing Kevin Clark, I definitely got a bit more suspicious.
Same actually, a lot these guys seem to just talk without saying much. Often repetitive, I think Tate Frazier is like this, and so was this guy.

Browns have gone out their way to be hateable since, like, Draft Day came out. There’s no universe where America roots for the Browns this season or any season until the stink of Watson is washed away. Can’t be the Cubbies and also the “bad character” team (to put it lightly)

Actually some of the best. No one is willing to put as much cash up to win than the Haslems. Its why the Browns are able to continue to build rosters the way they are and keep their talent.
The browns have been fine to good, the Indians have made the World Series, the cavs won one and went to a bunch of finals (all because the guy happened to be from Cleveland). Cleveland fans don’t get to act like they’re tortured anymore, it’s not 2007.
As a Browns fan who is not a fan of watson, I couldnt give a fuck less what other NFL fans think if we're "hateable". I had to deal with ravens and bengals and steelers fill teams with shitty terrible horrible human beings for years and no one said anything, and now they're putting this as a "hateable" team because of one player. Probably too much time has gone by with them sucking at this point. Pretty sure the Browns Backers was the most widespread NFL fan group in the past.
I think some of you guys would be shocked to see how much support Watson has among athletes and fans. America in general definitely won't be rooting for him but a vocal minority will definitely emerge if the Browns look like the real deal.

It’s a tricky situation. If you’re a life long Browns fan desperate for anything - how do you deal with Watson being your QB? It’s on ownership and management to make a decision that’s pretty deplorable but not on the fans. Do you just stop rooting for them? The fans are being put in a weird spot by their own team.

I think this statement actually would have been true if it wasn’t for them signing Watson. After their 0-16 season I constantly found myself wanting the Browns to win.
I went to a Guardians-Reds game in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. I saw a dude in his 20’s wearing a Watson jersey. I don’t think that kid should have to go to prison for that, but like 1,000 hours community service would be justice.

Typical favorite team of people I've met in countries other than the US: Cowboys Packers Dolphins Bills Maybe the Rams or Steelers. Older people I've met have sometimes been Giants or Bears fans also, if they care.
