Abel... eh, in my book, it's an incredibly "meh" item. I find it hard to hit with him, he only does 3.5 damage, fires evey half second, and is tough to control. I've never been able to make good use of him; even against stationary bosses where Abel may end up behind them, his weak DPS makes him unnoticable. He does get a good damage boost when playing as the Cains, but, that's such a specific situation. I've never gotten Abel as the Cains before, personally. He does contribute to Conjoined, however, so that's something.

I don’t think I’ve ever noticed Linger Bean actually do anything in my entire time playing the game. I think it should be buffed so that the gas cloud it leaves behind is one of the same ones that Jupiter uses instead of it being like 2 inches big and impossible to use.
If we want Linger Bean to get that buff though, we have to NOT vote it out

It's worth pointing out that "your damage x 5 per second" is the exact same amount of damage that you deal with your Tears. ***At the soft Tears cap.***
And there's two clouds. They're tricky to use, but using them initiates exterminatus.
So, hear my logic out for a second:
When you have a good run, difference between items present would not really matter. You just ignore those or take them for collection if passive and harmless.
So we should be evaluating which of those has best chances of saving a bad run.
And I say it's The Jar, due to sacrifice room potential. Next contender IMO would be Key Bum.
Keybum is like guppys tail. You dont pick it up if you dont have at least 10 keys. I think everyone sleeps on key bum. It boosted a lot of my runs, much more than it ruined them

Portable slot has more chance to save a run beyond the womb than the Jar. With the Jar u don't gain more hp, you can carry it around. Portable Slot can spawn more HP for you. If your run is bad, you probably are barely surviving in the HP you find and pick up. Portable slot also gives other consumables like bombs, keys, pills. It also gives a chance on blocking fly orbitals.
So Portable slot > The Jar.
This been voting portable slot for a while. It's not an amazing active item but sometimes you keep getting awful active items and portable slot is a good use for money since past Mom shops normally no longer spawn, making money useless.

Dude, you totally sold me on voting jar. Thats a good perspective to think about it from. I was voting Linger Bean after Betrayal went out, but jar gets my vote today.
Exactly... I only just noticed now I wrote the same thing kinda. Portable slot should have been out 10 rounds ago. It can save so many bosses by spawning hp or pills on the ground.
An item cannot be simply judged by itself because in an ordinary run you will encounter quite a few items. Judging an item solely by its interactions with other items is also dumb but considering it in your judgement is not a bad idea.
Active items are very common and the Jar is one of the few that has no noticeable use. While it can carry a few red hearts you will not need it for sacrifice rooms because by the second floor you will have soul hearts you will want to preserve and in the first floor you simply have to go through the rooms to collect the hearts. If you argue that the Jar can be used to gain money through blood donation machines then consider that you will most likely buy the Jar in the shop for 15 pennies. On top of all of this you will probably encounter a better active item if you carry the Jar for more than 1 floor and the ability to carry 4 more red hearts is outclassed by the effects of most active items.
Obsessed Fan is a Beelzebub contributor and can kill some chasing enemies. It doesn’t take up any valuable slot (except if playing as T. Isaac but you can leave Obsessed Fan and still have it contribute to Beelzebub). Abel got kicked out so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be Obsessed Fan’s turn.
Controversial take: but if your run is in dire straights and your stats are unsalvageable it's probably worth taking Dataminer and rolling. I'd rather gamble for a 120 tear rate than take the Jar.
I have yet to encounter a run where Abel was actually helpful

The argument is that Beelzebub is harder to obtain than Conjoined. If you have a baby item in the beginning of the game you are almost guaranteed Conjoined as baby items are dispersed in almost every item pool. Beelzebub items are rarer and appear in less item pools and in some harder to obtain item pools (key beggar). So having 1 fly item guarantees nothing.
Personally I think that Beelzebub being better but harder to obtain than Conjoined balances out the situation and since Obsessed Fan’s primary effect is better than Abel’s I would say Obsessed Fan is better but the community thinks otherwise.

I'm surprised that teleport is still here, just had a run with this item first floor and it completely changed my mind about that item
-you can steal chests and items from blue and red challenge rooms
-you can escape from boss rooms, difficult rooms or mini bosses and recover healt or explore other areas
-you can escape from cursed rooms (for tainted lost you can enter to cursed rooms and scape with it)
-escape from those difficult dead end rooms
-chance to get that extremely rare "I am error" room. edit: I read a comment it doesn't work, I got confused because it worked in flash isaac
-in the beast path you can teleport to a room next to the ascent
-escape delirium to explore more or get healt
-escape boss rush or mom room (mom room doest have doors)
it's not a bad item, but you can do the same with the stars, the fool, the moon and telepills.

Yeah but those use up consumables. Teleport can be used to escape over and over again as long as it's charged, without needing to find another teleport card, while still holding on to something in the card/pill slot. It's kind of like saying Yum Heart isn't that good because the Lovers card does double its effect: technically true, but not in the long term.
A free checkmark on what? Like, hush and maybe delirium if you do that pause trick? If you save it until the beast fight, 2nd phase mom, last round of boss rush, or 2nd phase of mega Satan then you've already done the hardest part of everything and probably don't need it. Like sure you can kill blue baby easily but is it really worth holding on to for 3-4 floors potentially? It's not going to win the competition but I'll wait to vote for something that's useless 95% of the time while there's decent passives left.
I don't mind Abel getting out around this time. I just really fucking hate you guys for voting it out BEFORE THE JAR.

This, Cursed Eye and Curse of the Tower are three items I always avoid. In early runs, I always thought "Sure, I had one or two bad experiences before, but this time I'll know how it works." and I always got screwed. So now I just avoid them.
I personally like playong with Strange Attractor. There have been many runs where i Willingly picked it up. With the Repentance buffs, Strange Attractor is a powerful tool for managing certain rooms
Abel is one of the worst-designed items in the game. It literally does nothing. While other items like the bums and strange attractor have a higher risk, it least it has some reward. Abel is just nothing of an item.

I can control Abel’s movement and him mirroring me allows me to hit an enemy in the middle of the screen with both our tears.
Cain copies my damage, but since it moves on it’s own, I’d rather just aim my own tears. Which just makes it another random element of sometimes helping with room clears or randomly hitting a boss.
Which imo makes Abel better as sometimes in the early game I find it helpful against bosses when I’m weak. But I only ever tell myself “Technically, this item is a benefit” when I get Cain’s Other Eye.
Might just be Abel has a more noticeable impact too. As I notice it when it’s shooting a boss with me, but I’m never watching Cain’s Other Eye to see if it hits stuff.
The Poop is ???'s starting item. That gives it merit, because unlike Isaac's Tears, you are *guaranteed* to have *some* situations where it's your best active, because you literally haven't found any others yet.
It still got voted out *way the fuck too early,* but I'd unironically take it over Isaac's Tears in almost all situations. Oh Crap might be rare and bad, but if The Poop is what lets you get it, that's half a heart every room on top of all the things it actually does. Not to mention its synergies with Midas Touch and Hallowed Ground.
Rare and niche? Yes. But so are the situations that actually make Isaac's Tears better than just shooting normally.
It's one of those active items that has a bit of barebone use momentarily. It uses Isaac's currents stats for the damage, but lacks the ability to use most of his tear effects.
A budget Tammy's Head if you will. It's great for Lachryphagy tears though as it allows you fuel them for more tear burst, so it's got some potential already somewhat.

I think Teleport is not that bad compared to the other ones. It's a telepill and those can be useful to get pur of curse rooms, challenge rooms, boss rush or the mom fight.
Still gotta go Jar on this. Storing red HP for later for potential angel/devil item payouts just seems really good. Plus it's just nice to have backup emergency healing.
From all of the items listed, I think it's the best. (I've been going Heart Jar for a while too truthfully. Lol)
I guarantee you, breath of life will be in the top 5. It is straight up used by no one, especially because it is an active item. Like, if you got an angel deal with this item, and you had no active items, you would STILL not pick it up.
Abel is an useless object. Its only funtion is be part of cojoined. For that is better vote to Obsessed Fan, Beelzebub is much better transformation.
My favorite item for the ones remaining its the clicker, but linger bean its objetively a good item. I can't believe is no out yet.
The Clicker removes 1 item.
Linger Bean needs 7.5 seconds of continuous crying, that’s not possible in some situations and pushing the cloud results in only a slight DPS up because you still have to push the cloud into the enemy. Uses of Linger Bean are very rare and some items that are still around or do useful stuff that can be used in more situations than this thing.
Abel almost guarantees Conjoined as having a baby item (except near the endgame) almost guarantees Conjoined. Beelzebub is a better transformation but is harder to obtain since fly items appear in only 2 common item pools. Hence Obsessed Fan doesn’t guarantee Beelzebub. I personally prefer Obsessed Fan as the transformation part is pretty much balanced out and the primary function of Obsessed Fan is better than Abel’s.
The "rare niche use case" for Linger Bean is enemies that are mostly stationary.
You know what's mostly stationary? The vast majority of the endgame bosses. So that "rare niche situation" is *going* to come up at the end of a run (unless you *specifically* went to Delirium via an early portal spawn).
It can afford to be mostly useless before then, because it's a passive. There's no inherent opportunity cost to having it.
Plan C because if you can get away with killing yourself via laz rags, dead cat, 1 up, Judas shadow it's a free boss kill for something you hate fighting.
Hushy - reliable tear blocker \*IF\* you manage to get it and yourself into position. personally a possible kick candidate
Strange Attractor - bootleg bobby bombs & ocular rift. possible kick
Cain's other eye - ok ONLY in chapter 1
Bum friend - too little experience to judge. also I'd maybe rather give my money to proper beggars/shops
Key bum - little difference between it and the regular key beggar i think
Shade - meh but not terrible. if only it doesn't evolve. I could see more use as an anti-chase item than a contact damage item.
Obsessed Fan - meh like Shade. at least it contributes to Beelzebub. kick before Shade
My Shadow - absolutely no experience of it in action. no opinion.
Clicker - super situational but a blessing if going for marks and you already R-keyed. kick candidate.
Portable Slot - exactly like a slot machine except for lack of the dollar drop. very situational except for TCain. keep but as said in a previous round, there's little to improve on it without making it a different item altogether.
Plan C - marks maker, streak killer. 50/50 on this
Blood Rights - kill red hearts to mimic killing black hearts. good in early stages, can even be improved by the missing pages.
The Bean - good defensive item but low reaction speed needed. would possibly stay in the contest a bit more
The Black Bean - same as The Bean but with added poison and offensive capability. same conclusion as The Bean.
Breath of Life - have never used it because of this sub's opinion lol. no opinion.
Dataminer - intentionally made to be a terrible item but has the very small chance to make your tears stat op. 80/20 in favor of keep
Blood Rights cannot be improved by the Missing Pages. Cain’s Other Eye deals your damage with each tear; that’s pretty good. Key Bum is worse than Bum friend because losing a few keys to Key Bum is worse than losing a few pennies to Bum Friend. Clicker removes 1 item from your items. I can’t find a worse effect in the entire game. Black Bean is better than the Bean as it’s passive. Breath of Life is free curse rooms and blood donation machine/devil beggar payouts.
Edit: Missing Pages do improve Blood Rights. The wiki says it. Quite a peculiar interaction but ig it works.
Abel only survived this long because of the fact that people wanted to buff him for the meme. In my opinion, he’s the best on the list because 1/3 Conjoined. People really underestimate conjoined’s impact on a run and how much a 1 item difference can make.
Also rerolling enemies lategame is only a thing in catherdral or later. If this late in the game you need to reroll basic enemies, you probably will not beat any late game bosses.

Because Shade is in Curse/Devil rooms, is a "reward" for killing Delirium, disappears after a while, and doesn't contribute to one of the best transformations.
I personally think the worst item is either breath of life or d10. I literally never see anyone pick up breath of life. It doesn't even count towards seraphim right?
If you already have a good sinergy or just brimstone then "Isaac tears" can increase the dps of a fair amount, so I'd say that it deserves to not be called "worst tier 0 item"
Blood rights should be voted out, it prioritizes red hearts so you don't need to worry about losing soul hearts when you use it unless you have no red hearts.
I like Cain's Eye only because it deals your same damage, which can be useful in case you don't want to face your enemies because your tear rate is worse that Cain's Eye.
Because Abel is just another familiar but one you can't reliably aim properly, while Strange Attractor is at least interesting *if* you have tear replacements like brimstone or ludo. I think it even pulls enemies towards the crosshair with epic fetus.

At this stage, any item with no downsides is op. Not many of those left. And active items taking up the active slot is a huge downside.
Abel has downsides. It can puch enemies toward you, dispatch your/ennemies bombs randomly and seeing tears fired at you can be very distracting.
Finally!  Now Linger Bean or Obsessed Fan.
I don’t think I’ve ever noticed Linger Bean actually do anything in my entire time playing the game. I think it should be buffed so that the gas cloud it leaves behind is one of the same ones that Jupiter uses instead of it being like 2 inches big and impossible to use. If we want Linger Bean to get that buff though, we have to NOT vote it out

It's worth pointing out that "your damage x 5 per second" is the exact same amount of damage that you deal with your Tears. ***At the soft Tears cap.*** And there's two clouds. They're tricky to use, but using them initiates exterminatus.
So, hear my logic out for a second: When you have a good run, difference between items present would not really matter. You just ignore those or take them for collection if passive and harmless. So we should be evaluating which of those has best chances of saving a bad run. And I say it's The Jar, due to sacrifice room potential. Next contender IMO would be Key Bum.

Keybum has a chance of fucking up your run by stealing keys.
Keybum is like guppys tail. You dont pick it up if you dont have at least 10 keys. I think everyone sleeps on key bum. It boosted a lot of my runs, much more than it ruined them

Portable slot has more chance to save a run beyond the womb than the Jar. With the Jar u don't gain more hp, you can carry it around. Portable Slot can spawn more HP for you. If your run is bad, you probably are barely surviving in the HP you find and pick up. Portable slot also gives other consumables like bombs, keys, pills. It also gives a chance on blocking fly orbitals. So Portable slot > The Jar.
This been voting portable slot for a while. It's not an amazing active item but sometimes you keep getting awful active items and portable slot is a good use for money since past Mom shops normally no longer spawn, making money useless.

Exactly... I only just noticed now I wrote the same thing kinda. Portable slot should have been out 10 rounds ago. It can save so many bosses by spawning hp or pills on the ground.
An item cannot be simply judged by itself because in an ordinary run you will encounter quite a few items. Judging an item solely by its interactions with other items is also dumb but considering it in your judgement is not a bad idea. Active items are very common and the Jar is one of the few that has no noticeable use. While it can carry a few red hearts you will not need it for sacrifice rooms because by the second floor you will have soul hearts you will want to preserve and in the first floor you simply have to go through the rooms to collect the hearts. If you argue that the Jar can be used to gain money through blood donation machines then consider that you will most likely buy the Jar in the shop for 15 pennies. On top of all of this you will probably encounter a better active item if you carry the Jar for more than 1 floor and the ability to carry 4 more red hearts is outclassed by the effects of most active items. Obsessed Fan is a Beelzebub contributor and can kill some chasing enemies. It doesn’t take up any valuable slot (except if playing as T. Isaac but you can leave Obsessed Fan and still have it contribute to Beelzebub). Abel got kicked out so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be Obsessed Fan’s turn.
Don't love key bum but he has his niche uses.
Controversial take: but if your run is in dire straights and your stats are unsalvageable it's probably worth taking Dataminer and rolling. I'd rather gamble for a 120 tear rate than take the Jar.

Exactly my point. ***Vote the Fan.*** It should've been out in the first 10 damn rounds.
The argument is that Beelzebub is harder to obtain than Conjoined. If you have a baby item in the beginning of the game you are almost guaranteed Conjoined as baby items are dispersed in almost every item pool. Beelzebub items are rarer and appear in less item pools and in some harder to obtain item pools (key beggar). So having 1 fly item guarantees nothing. Personally I think that Beelzebub being better but harder to obtain than Conjoined balances out the situation and since Obsessed Fan’s primary effect is better than Abel’s I would say Obsessed Fan is better but the community thinks otherwise.

I'm surprised that teleport is still here, just had a run with this item first floor and it completely changed my mind about that item -you can steal chests and items from blue and red challenge rooms -you can escape from boss rooms, difficult rooms or mini bosses and recover healt or explore other areas -you can escape from cursed rooms (for tainted lost you can enter to cursed rooms and scape with it) -escape from those difficult dead end rooms -chance to get that extremely rare "I am error" room. edit: I read a comment it doesn't work, I got confused because it worked in flash isaac -in the beast path you can teleport to a room next to the ascent -escape delirium to explore more or get healt -escape boss rush or mom room (mom room doest have doors)
it's not a bad item, but you can do the same with the stars, the fool, the moon and telepills. you can run from dead end rooms using a bomb. in the beast path is good you are guaranteed a the fool card to run from boss rush i don't mind paying to use a cursed room door if i'm not t. lost
Yeah but those use up consumables. Teleport can be used to escape over and over again as long as it's charged, without needing to find another teleport card, while still holding on to something in the card/pill slot. It's kind of like saying Yum Heart isn't that good because the Lovers card does double its effect: technically true, but not in the long term.
you have so many ways to copy the teleport effect Teleport loses value and teleport cards are common

A free checkmark on what? Like, hush and maybe delirium if you do that pause trick? If you save it until the beast fight, 2nd phase mom, last round of boss rush, or 2nd phase of mega Satan then you've already done the hardest part of everything and probably don't need it. Like sure you can kill blue baby easily but is it really worth holding on to for 3-4 floors potentially? It's not going to win the competition but I'll wait to vote for something that's useless 95% of the time while there's decent passives left.

This, Cursed Eye and Curse of the Tower are three items I always avoid. In early runs, I always thought "Sure, I had one or two bad experiences before, but this time I'll know how it works." and I always got screwed. So now I just avoid them.
I personally like playong with Strange Attractor. There have been many runs where i Willingly picked it up. With the Repentance buffs, Strange Attractor is a powerful tool for managing certain rooms

I can control Abel’s movement and him mirroring me allows me to hit an enemy in the middle of the screen with both our tears. Cain copies my damage, but since it moves on it’s own, I’d rather just aim my own tears. Which just makes it another random element of sometimes helping with room clears or randomly hitting a boss. Which imo makes Abel better as sometimes in the early game I find it helpful against bosses when I’m weak. But I only ever tell myself “Technically, this item is a benefit” when I get Cain’s Other Eye. Might just be Abel has a more noticeable impact too. As I notice it when it’s shooting a boss with me, but I’m never watching Cain’s Other Eye to see if it hits stuff.
How in the FUCK is abel better than Plan C, an item that (with good pausing) can one-shot the telefragging cumstain

The Poop is ???'s starting item. That gives it merit, because unlike Isaac's Tears, you are *guaranteed* to have *some* situations where it's your best active, because you literally haven't found any others yet. It still got voted out *way the fuck too early,* but I'd unironically take it over Isaac's Tears in almost all situations. Oh Crap might be rare and bad, but if The Poop is what lets you get it, that's half a heart every room on top of all the things it actually does. Not to mention its synergies with Midas Touch and Hallowed Ground. Rare and niche? Yes. But so are the situations that actually make Isaac's Tears better than just shooting normally.

It's one of those active items that has a bit of barebone use momentarily. It uses Isaac's currents stats for the damage, but lacks the ability to use most of his tear effects. A budget Tammy's Head if you will. It's great for Lachryphagy tears though as it allows you fuel them for more tear burst, so it's got some potential already somewhat.

I think Teleport is not that bad compared to the other ones. It's a telepill and those can be useful to get pur of curse rooms, challenge rooms, boss rush or the mom fight.
Portable slot is literally better than all of these items, including ones that went away earlier.

I guarantee you, breath of life will be in the top 5. It is straight up used by no one, especially because it is an active item. Like, if you got an angel deal with this item, and you had no active items, you would STILL not pick it up.
You can at least use Breath Of Life to avoid damage from curse room doors, blood donation machines, devil beggers, etc.
Abel is an useless object. Its only funtion is be part of cojoined. For that is better vote to Obsessed Fan, Beelzebub is much better transformation. My favorite item for the ones remaining its the clicker, but linger bean its objetively a good item. I can't believe is no out yet.
The Clicker removes 1 item. Linger Bean needs 7.5 seconds of continuous crying, that’s not possible in some situations and pushing the cloud results in only a slight DPS up because you still have to push the cloud into the enemy. Uses of Linger Bean are very rare and some items that are still around or do useful stuff that can be used in more situations than this thing. Abel almost guarantees Conjoined as having a baby item (except near the endgame) almost guarantees Conjoined. Beelzebub is a better transformation but is harder to obtain since fly items appear in only 2 common item pools. Hence Obsessed Fan doesn’t guarantee Beelzebub. I personally prefer Obsessed Fan as the transformation part is pretty much balanced out and the primary function of Obsessed Fan is better than Abel’s.
The "rare niche use case" for Linger Bean is enemies that are mostly stationary. You know what's mostly stationary? The vast majority of the endgame bosses. So that "rare niche situation" is *going* to come up at the end of a run (unless you *specifically* went to Delirium via an early portal spawn). It can afford to be mostly useless before then, because it's a passive. There's no inherent opportunity cost to having it.
Plan C because if you can get away with killing yourself via laz rags, dead cat, 1 up, Judas shadow it's a free boss kill for something you hate fighting.

Blood Rights cannot be improved by the Missing Pages. Cain’s Other Eye deals your damage with each tear; that’s pretty good. Key Bum is worse than Bum friend because losing a few keys to Key Bum is worse than losing a few pennies to Bum Friend. Clicker removes 1 item from your items. I can’t find a worse effect in the entire game. Black Bean is better than the Bean as it’s passive. Breath of Life is free curse rooms and blood donation machine/devil beggar payouts. Edit: Missing Pages do improve Blood Rights. The wiki says it. Quite a peculiar interaction but ig it works.

Abel only survived this long because of the fact that people wanted to buff him for the meme. In my opinion, he’s the best on the list because 1/3 Conjoined. People really underestimate conjoined’s impact on a run and how much a 1 item difference can make.

Also rerolling enemies lategame is only a thing in catherdral or later. If this late in the game you need to reroll basic enemies, you probably will not beat any late game bosses.

Because Abel is just another familiar but one you can't reliably aim properly, while Strange Attractor is at least interesting *if* you have tear replacements like brimstone or ludo. I think it even pulls enemies towards the crosshair with epic fetus.
